Description

[0001] The invention relates to a pneumatic vehicle tire of radial design with a rim rubber comprising two bead regions with bead cores, a carcass insert extending around the bead cores and having carcass folds extending toward the sidewalls. The invention also relates to a use of a rim rubber and a vehicle wheel system comprising the pneumatic vehicle tire of radial design.

[0002] Such a pneumatic vehicle tire is known from EP 2 500 188 A1. Generally, a rim rubber extends as a narrow cross-sectional strip along the carcass turnup into the area radially below the bead core. The rim rubber can consist of one and optionally additional rim rubber parts. In the case where the rim rubber consists of two rim rubber parts, the first rim rubber part can, for example, as shown in EP 2 500 188 A1, at least partially cover the second rim rubber part on the outside, with the first rim rubber part being overlapped by the sidewall in the direction of the tread.

[0003] EP 1992506A2 discloses a heavy-duty tire having a wind bead structure in which a turned-up portion of a carcass ply is wound around a bead core, a bead portion being provided with a bead reinforcing layer having a U-shaped cross-section and a bead crown rubber having a triangular cross-section.

[0004] Furthermore, JP 2016124429A discloses a rim cushion rubber arranged at a point contacting the rim of a bead portion.

[0005] DE 102013107385A1 describes a pneumatic vehicle tire of radial design with at least one component made of at least one electrically non-conductive rubber compound, with bead regions with bead cores, a carcass insert running around the bead cores with raised folds that extend towards the sidewalls, with a rim rubber which forms the outer surface of the bead region, runs along the carcass raised fold and consists of a rim rubber part made of an electrically non-conductive rubber compound and a rim rubber part made of an electrically conductive rubber compound, which connects at least one electrically conductive component running in the tire, which forms or co-forms an electrically conductive connection to the outside of the tire, to the rim.

[0006] Furthermore, EP 2738022A1 describes a tire comprising penetrating portions, an undertread, a belt, a carcass and rivets.

[0007] An object underlying the invention is to provide a pneumatic vehicle tire of radial design which resolves the conflict of objectives between lateral stiffness and rolling resistance and, in particular, has improved rolling resistance without significantly impairing the lateral stiffness.

[0008] This object is achieved according to the invention by a pneumatic vehicle tire of radial design, comprising two bead areas with bead cores, a carcass insert running around the bead cores with carcass turn-ups extending towards the sidewalls, at least one rim rubber which forms the outer surface of a bead area and consists of a first rim rubber part consisting of a first rubber mixture and a second rim rubber part consisting of a second rubber mixture, wherein the first rim rubber part runs along the carcass turn-up and the second rim rubber part is designed such that, after being mounted on a rim, it is arranged at least partially between the bead cores and the rim, characterized in that the first rubber compound has a rebound resilience at 20 °C according to DIN 53512 in the range of 20 % and 80 % and the rebound resilience of the second rubber compound, also measured at 20 °C according to DIN 53512, differs from the rebound resilience of the first rubber compound.

[0009] In EP 2500188 A1, rolling resistance is improved by reducing the size of rubber parts (see

[0023] in EP 2500188 A1). However, this has the disadvantage that it inevitably leads to a deterioration in lateral stiffness due to the missing rubber part. Thus, according to document EP 2500188 A1, there is a trade-off between rolling resistance and lateral stiffness in the production of rim rubber for a pneumatic vehicle tire.

[0010] Surprisingly, it was found within the scope of the present invention that by precisely adjusting the rebound elasticity of the two rim rubber parts of a pneumatic vehicle tire according to the invention the rolling resistance can be improved without reducing the lateral stiffness of the pneumatic vehicle tire, or the lateral stiffness can be improved without reducing the rolling resistance of the pneumatic vehicle tire.

[0011] By adjusting the rebound resilience of the two rim rubber parts of a rim rubber of a pneumatic vehicle tire according to the invention, the conflict of objectives described above could be resolved. This represents a surprising technical effect.

[0075] The advantages of a pneumatic vehicle tire according to the invention are clearly shown in Table 2. Depending on the requirements of a pneumatic vehicle tire according to the invention, 1. its rolling resistance by adjusting the Shore hardness of the rubber compound of the first rim rubber part (compare the columns Single1 and Multi2 in Table 2) and / or 2. its lateral stiffness by adjusting the rebound resilience of the rubber compound of the first rim rubber part (compare the columns Single1 and Multi2 in Table 2) be improved.

[0076] By increasing the rebound resilience of the rubber compound of the first rim rubber part, the desired rolling resistance of a pneumatic vehicle tire according to the invention can be improved (see columns E1 and E2 in Table 1). However, it is also possible to increase the lateral stiffness of a pneumatic vehicle tire according to the invention by increasing the Shore hardness of the rubber compound of the first rim rubber part (see columns E1 and E3 in Table 1). This allows both the rolling resistance and the lateral stiffness of a vehicle tire according to the invention to be precisely adjusted. In particular, it is possible to produce pneumatic vehicle tires with increased lateral stiffness without a deterioration in rolling resistance (see columns Single1 and Multi1 in Table 2).
