Description

[0001] The present invention relates, firstly, to a frame center seal made of elastic material for sealing the rebate area between the outer and inner shells of a frame accommodating a sash frame. The invention further relates to a facade construction, in particular in the form of a window or door construction, using a corresponding frame center seal. Technological background

[0002] Window or door constructions typically comprise a frame and a sash that pivots relative to the frame. The frame is constructed from vertical and horizontal profiles. These profiles form corresponding openings in the facade into which sashes, usually containing glazing elements, can be pivotally inserted. The frame typically includes outer and inner profiles, preferably made of metal (e.g., aluminum) or plastic, which form the outer and inner layers of the window or door constructions and are connected by insulating spacers made of thermally non-conductive or poorly conductive material. These insulating spacers are preferably made of plastic. They prevent the formation of a thermal bridge between the outer and inner layers of the facade construction.Furthermore, they can prevent or at least reduce heat convection within the cavity formed by the outer and inner shells, for example by means of separating webs extending into the cavity.

[0003] In a frame that accommodates a sash, the rebate area, or the area between the outer and inner frame profiles, is sealed with a continuous center seal. Previously, vulcanized corner pieces were used in the corner areas, to which lengthwise sections of profile sealing material cut to the appropriate length were attached. Consequently, installing such a center seal was very labor-intensive and therefore time-consuming. Printed state of the art

[0004] DE 43 26 115 A1 describes a method for attaching a profile seal with mounting lugs as well as cover and sealing lugs to a combined wood-metal window, in which the seal is attached to the frame along a straight side of the frame with mounting lugs, and is provided with V-shaped miter cuts and two laterally offset relief cuts by means of a tool that is attached to and guided within the frame. The sealing profile is cut along its main direction of extension in each case.

[0005] From EP 0 471 210 A1, a sealing profile strip for sealing window panes in a window frame is known, in which, for bending the sealing profile strip at the corners of the pane or frame, an upper V-shaped cut and, opposite it, a lower cut in the form of a narrow groove are made. Both cuts are made deep enough to reach the upper and lower edges of a neutral zone, respectively. A hollow chamber running through the sealing profile strip is not touched by the upper V-shaped cut. The sealing profile strip serves to seal a gap located between a window frame and an adjoining pane of glass.

[0006] From EP 0 722 812 A1, a device for processing an elastic sealing profile strip for inner and outer sealing frames on window panes is known, by means of which a sealing profile strip sealing the window pane can be processed by introducing V-shaped notches and opposing cuts in the respective corner areas of the frame to be ensured by the sealing profile strip. The cuts are also made parallel to the main direction of extension of the sealing profile strip.

[0007] EP 2 196 614 A2 discloses a sealing profile with a base and a contoured top, wherein the sealing profile consists of at least two cross-sectional areas, one area being made of a solid material and another area of a foamed material. A sealing edge is attached to the base. The top has a stop sealing edge and an additional sealing edge, which together reduce heat transfer and thus minimize heat loss. Furthermore, an insert for joining two ends of sealing profiles, in particular sealing profiles for window and door constructions between the sash and frame, is disclosed.

[0008] EP 1 408 192 A2 relates to a method for manufacturing a thermoplastic seal for a window profile, comprising a sealing section and a base section for fastening in the window profile. The sealing section and the base section are manufactured in a co-extruder from different materials, which bond firmly together during co-extrusion. Furthermore, a seal is disclosed that comprises a sealing section and a base section that are integrally joined. The base section has a higher material strength than the sealing section.

[0009] From DE 94 15 923 U1, a window or door frame made of polymer material is known, the mitered profile sections of which are welded together at the corners and which has a retaining groove running through the corners for the profile base of a sealing strip composed of corresponding sections, wherein the mitered ends of the sealing strip are welded together and jointly with the profile sections of the frame at the frame corners. The sealing strip has a soft sealing lip which has an angled profile section at its free end. Object of the present invention

[0010] The object of the present invention is to provide a novel frame center seal or facade construction that makes it possible to reduce assembly costs in the manufacture of facade constructions. Solution to the task

[0011] The above problem is solved in the case of the generic frame center seal by the features of claim 1 and in the case of the generic facade construction by the features of claim 17.

[0012] Suitable embodiments of the invention are claimed in the dependent claims.

[0013] Because the stop web and / or the base body are made of solid material in the area of the stop web, two continuous, uninterrupted, opposing cut surfaces are created in the V-shaped notch of the frame's center seal. These surfaces fold together when the frame's center seal is folded in the area of the V-shaped notch, ensuring a particularly effective seal to the outside when assembled. This is especially advantageous because the frame's center seal typically has an L-shaped base, meaning the stop web extends beyond the base body at the edge or at the outer end of the frame's center seal. Furthermore, the V-shaped notch in the frame's center seal creates a continuous contact surface for potential bonding in this area. The "base body 2 in the area of the stop 5" refers to the area of the base body that is located below the stop rib and above the sealing foot 3.

[0014] The elastic material of the frame's central seal in the area of at least one sealing base has a higher Shore hardness compared to the rest of the material. This increased Shore hardness makes it possible to transport the continuous sealing profile with precise positioning by machine (e.g., via rollers) over the sealing base, which also has a higher Shore hardness. This, in turn, leads to the possibility that, in the case of a frame-center seal running along a facade opening, particularly a circumferential frame-center seal, V-shaped cutouts perpendicular to the main direction of extension of the frame-center seal can be introduced with very high positional accuracy in the corner areas of a sealing frame to be produced with the frame-center seal during machining. This is because the sealing profile, supplied as a meter-long roll, can be guided very reliably and precisely along the at least one sealing foot due to the increased hardness of the material of the at least one sealing foot. Because the elastic material of the frame-center seal has a higher Shore hardness in the area of the at least one sealing foot compared to the rest of the material, the frame-center seal according to the invention can be transported particularly reliably and with extremely high positional accuracy using rollers. The aforementioned measures result in the creation of a pre-fabricated, continuous, one-piece frame center seal, which has precisely positioned V-shaped cutouts and ensures an excellent "seat" in the corners of the frame.

[0015] According to the invention, a first sealing foot on the stop web side and a second sealing foot located on the side of the frame center seal opposite the stop web are provided, wherein the elastic material of the frame center seal has an increased Shore hardness in the area of the second sealing foot compared to the rest of the material.

[0016] It is particularly advantageous if the material in the area of the aforementioned second sealing foot has a Shore hardness greater than 60 and the remaining material has a Shore hardness less than 60; preferably, the Shore hardness of the at least one or the aforementioned second sealing foot is in the range of 70 to 80.

[0017] Advantageously, the frame center seal can be designed as a co-extruded profile. In a co-extruded profile, the frame center seal is co-extruded together with the materials of the aforementioned second sealing base and the rest of the frame center seal profile.

[0018] It has proven particularly advantageous to use unfoamed EPDM as the material for the aforementioned second sealing foot and foamed EPDM, especially foam rubber, as the material for the remaining profile areas of the frame center seal.

[0019] An advantageous embodiment relates to a frame center seal, wherein the frame center seal is provided as a circumferential, angular sealing frame with an end butt joint and V-shaped notches are provided on the inside of the sealing frame at each corner, as well as straight incisions on the outside of the sealing frame opposite the notches. This makes it possible to avoid vulcanized corner pieces and straight sealing pieces that would need to be formed and cut to length. The invention ensures that a circumferential sealing frame formed from the frame center seal fits into the corner areas of the frame with a right-angled inner profile, without forming any curves. The V-shaped notches are made transversely to the main direction of extension of the frame center seal, i.e., in the installation direction of the seal.Advantageously, the hollow chambers of the frame's center seal run around the respective corner of the sealing frame or frame on the outside in an uncut state. This increases the stability of the frame's center seal in the area of the V-shaped cutouts and the straight cutouts on the outside.

[0020] Furthermore, it is advantageous that the V-shaped cutouts completely or almost completely encompass the hollow chambers of the frame's central seal base. This, in turn, allows the sealing profile to be tilted and joined particularly well at the respective corner area by 90°, as no partition walls or partition wall components of the hollow chambers remain that would require additional deformation during folding.

[0021] Because the respective notch and cut form an uncut cross-sectional area that limits the hollow chambers on the underside and / or the second sealing foot and / or the first sealing foot on the upper side, a narrow, uncut area runs transversely to the longitudinal extent of the frame center seal, which on the one hand comprises very little material and can therefore act like a pivot axis, and on the other hand effectively holds the sealing material together over the entire width of the frame center seal.

[0022] Furthermore, it is advantageous if the stop web for the stop of the sash frame or its insulator does not have an integrally molded sealing lip. This allows the cut surfaces of the frame's center seal to be better connected in the area of the V-shaped cutout.

[0023] Preferably, the contact surface of the stop web can be flat. This results in a larger contact area and thus a more effective seal against the sash frame or its insulator.

[0024] The contact surface of the stop bar can also be oriented at an angle to a reference plane E running perpendicular to the mounting direction. This results in a particularly good seal. Alternatively, the contact surface can also be designed to run parallel to the mounting direction.

[0025] Furthermore, the stop rib, at least in its upper part (i.e., the area projecting beyond the base of the frame's center seal), can be oriented towards the side of the second sealing foot. This also results in a particularly advantageous seal on the one hand, and sufficient long-term dimensional stability of the frame's center seal during operation on the other.

[0026] It is advantageous to glue the cut surfaces together in the area of the V-shaped cutouts, preferably in the area of the stop rib.

[0027] In the area of the sealing frame formed by the frame center seal, the butt surfaces or end faces of the frame center seal formed by smooth cuts, preferably in the area of the cut surface of the stop web and / or the second sealing foot, can be bonded together.

[0028] According to an alternative embodiment of the present invention, the frame center seal can also be constructed from individual, separate segments, each with a chamfered end face, which abut each other over their entire surface in the area of the chamfer. This embodiment has the advantage that, due to the segments, the frame center seal can be processed manually, i.e., machine processing is not required.

[0029] With the aforementioned frame center seal, which is constructed from separate segments, bonding in the area of the segment contact surfaces can be omitted if necessary. This contributes to the durability of the frame center seal.

[0030] Preferably the chamfer has an angle of 45° ± 5°, preferably an angle of at least substantially 45°.

[0031] The present invention further relates to a facade construction, in particular in the form of a window or door construction, according to the preamble of claim 17, which is characterized in that the latter comprises a frame center seal according to at least one of claims 1-16. These show: Fig. 1 a perspective view of an example of an installation situation of an exemplary embodiment of a frame center seal according to the invention; Fig. 2 a sectional view of an example of a frame and sash of the window construction using the exemplary embodiment of the frame center seal according to the invention; Fig. 3a a sectional view of the exemplary frame center seal, manufactured as a co-extruded frame center seal; Fig. 3b a representation of the frame center seal according to Fig. 3awith each marking indicating the upper and lower cutting depths provided in the corner area; Fig. 4a an example of the frame center seal according to the invention for producing a circumferential frame in a perspective view in the unfolded state from above; Fig. 4b an example of the frame center seal according to the invention for producing a circumferential frame in a perspective view in the unfolded state from below; Fig. 4c an example of the frame center seal according to the invention in a perspective view after folding and bonding in the butt joint area; Fig. 5a an enlarged view of the area of the V-shaped cutout made of Fig. 4a ; Fig. 5 enlarged view of the area of the V-shaped cutout from Fig. 4b ; Fig. 6 an enlarged view of the notch according to Fig. 5a with adhesive applied; Fig. 7 a perspective view of the back of the frame center seal according to Fig. 5aafter folding and gluing; Fig. 8a an example of a second embodiment of the frame center seal according to the invention using individual segments in a perspective view in an unassembled state of the segments; Fig. 8 a top view of the segments of the second embodiment of the frame center seal according to Fig. 8a in a pre-oriented arrangement relative to each other; Fig. 9 an enlarged view of the area of the end-face chamfer of a segment according to the embodiment according to Fig. 8a ; and Fig. 10 a perspective view of an installation situation of two adjacent segments of the second embodiment of the frame center seal according to Fig. 8a .

[0033] Fig. 1Figure 12 shows an example of a section of a so-called frame 12 of a window assembly, which consists of outer frame profiles 12a and inner frame profiles 12b, with insulating bars 15a, 15b located between them. The frame profiles 12a, 12b can be made of metal, e.g., aluminum, or plastic. The insulating bars 15a, 15b connect the frame profiles 12a, 12b and ensure sufficient thermal separation between the inner and outer window halves formed by the frame profiles 12a, 12b. The frame 12 comprises vertical sections (mulls) and horizontal sections (transoms), creating window openings that can be filled, for example, by a sash to secure the window (or a door, not shown in the drawings). In the area of the transition from post to beam, the frame half-shells 12b can be stiffened to each other by means of stiffening angles 11.

[0034] In addition, the frame includes 12 in Fig. 1 A frame center seal 1 is arranged running along the entire rectangular or square frame of the frame 12. The frame center seal 1 covers the area between the outer frame half-shell 12a and the inner frame half-shell 12b. It therefore has a greater width than height.

[0035] Fig. 2 This shows an example of an installation situation for the frame center seal 1 in the frame-sash assembly. As shown in the diagram. Fig. 2As can be seen, the frame center seal 1 serves to seal the area between the outer frame half-shell 12a and the inner frame half-shell 12b and simultaneously to form a sealing stop for the sash frame 13. The sash frame 13 comprises an outer sash half-shell 13a and an inner sash half-shell 13b. Between the two sash half-shells 13a and 13b are insulating webs 16a and 16b. One insulating web 16b is shaped as a pronounced chamber profile and serves to seal the rebate area 21, together with the frame center seal 1, towards the interior of the facade when the sash frame 13 is closed. For this purpose, the insulating web 16b presses against the frame center seal 1, for example, in the area of the outer frame half-shell 12a or the outer sash half-shell 13a.

[0036] Furthermore, it is from Fig. 2A glazing element 17, e.g., a triple-glazed laminated pane, is also visible, which is held in the sash frame 13 by means of a retaining profile 13c and interposed seals 18a, 18b. The frame center seal 1 is fastened, e.g., by means of a first sealing foot 3 and a second sealing foot 4 in groove-shaped recesses formed by the frame profile 12a, the insulating web 15a, and the frame profile 12b. The in Fig. 1 and 2 The frame center seal 1 shown as an example extends over the entire gap formed by the two frame profiles 12a, 12b.

[0037] The gap on the inside of the window between the frame half-shell 12b of the frame 12 and the sash half-shell 13b of the sash frame 13 is closed by a seal 24 attached to the sash half-shell 13b when the sash frame 13 is closed.

[0038] As from Fig. 3aAs can be seen, the frame's central seal comprises a base body 2, in which, for example, at least one hollow chamber may be provided. In the case of the Fig. 3a In the example shown, a total of three hollow chambers 7a, 7b, and 7c are provided in the base body 2. Ribs 9a to 9c are also arranged on the upper surface of the base body 2. Furthermore, a stop rib 5 is provided above the base body 2 on the side opposite the second sealing foot 4, which can extend, for example, towards the second sealing foot 4. Both the stop rib 5 and the base body 2 in the area of the stop rib are made of solid material and therefore do not have any hollow chambers. The "base body 2 in the area of the stop rib 5" refers to the area of the base body 2 that is located below the stop rib 5 and above the sealing foot 3.

[0039] The stop bar 5 comprises a preferably planar stop surface 10, which may also be oriented at an angle to the mounting direction M. The angled orientation of the stop surface 10 is described in Fig. 3a Indicated by the dashed line E. Alternatively, the stop surface can also be arranged parallel to the mounting direction. As shown in the diagram. Fig. 3a As can be seen further, there is no hollow chamber in the area of the stop 5 or in its underside area of the base body 2. (Left to the first sealing foot 3) Fig. 3a A groove 6 is provided into which a T-shaped web of the outer frame half-shell 12a engages. Between the first sealing foot 3 and the second sealing foot 4, two recesses separated by a rib are provided, into which corresponding T-shaped webs of the insulation web 15a engage.

[0040] The frame center seal 1 according to the invention is preferably designed as a co-extruded frame center seal 1. The co-extruded frame center seal 1 comprises a material region with an increased Shore hardness compared to a second material region with a lower Shore hardness. In the case of the Fig. 3aIn the example shown, the area of the second sealing foot 4 has a higher Shore hardness compared to the rest of the frame center seal 1. In the area of increased Shore hardness, this should be greater than 60. In the example shown, the Shore hardness of the second sealing foot 4 is therefore greater than 60; for example, it is between 70 and 80. The reason for this is that this area is adapted for the machine manufacturing of the frame center seal 1. Due to the increased Shore hardness in this area, the frame center seal 1 can be transported and / or positioned precisely using rollers, which would not be possible with "normally soft" sealing material.

[0041] The material of the second sealing foot 4 is preferably unfoamed EPDM. The remaining material of the frame center seal 1 is foamed EPDM. Sponge rubber is particularly advantageous in this case. The porosity of the "remaining area" of the frame center seal 1 in Fig. 3a is indicated by the honeycomb-shaped cross-sectional structure, whereas the area of the second sealing foot 4 should not exhibit such porosity.

[0042] According to the invention, the frame center seal 1 is designed as a circumferential frame, wherein the sealing profile underlying the frame center seal 1 is machined in the corner areas as described in detail below and at the two end faces 25a, 25b, as shown in Fig. 4cThe frame center seal 1 comprises a continuous, one-piece sealing profile, machined at the corners, which is folded and butt-jointed at one point. The corresponding machining in the corner areas is shown in the Fig. 4a as well as shown in 4b. For this purpose, V-shaped cutouts 14 are made in the respective corner areas from the top onto the frame center seal 1, i.e. in the assembly direction M (see 4b). Fig. 3a ), cut into. Furthermore, the sealing profile is also provided with a cut 19 on the opposite side of the V-shaped notch 14. The cut 19 is made in particular of Fig. 4b This makes it possible to bend the frame center seal 1 exactly by 90° without any bulging occurring.

[0043] As from Fig. 5aAs can be seen, in the area of the V-shaped notch 14, a pronounced cut surface 23a, 23b is formed in the area of the stop rib 5. In addition, the hollow chambers 7a, 7b, 7c are exposed, or at least almost completely exposed. In conjunction with the rear incision 19, which extends over the first sealing foot 3, the underside rib 9d and the second sealing foot 4, it becomes possible to fold the sealing profile by 90° without permanent curvature, as shown from Fig. 7 This is evident. Because the cut in the area of the V-shaped notch 14 completely or almost completely exposes the hollow chambers 7a, 7b, 7c, only a very narrow cross-sectional area 20 remains, which in Fig. 3bThe black area is shown for clarity. This makes it possible to fold the sealing profile exactly by 90° without any curvature resulting from the folding. The cutting depth limits are defined by the upper surface ST1 and the lower surface ST2, respectively.

[0044] Due to the pronounced cut surfaces 23a, 23b in the area of the stop 5, cf. Fig. 6 , it is possible to apply sufficient adhesive 22 in this area for a surface-wide adhesive bond.

[0045] According to a second embodiment, the frame center seal 1 is constructed from individual, separate segments 26a, 26b, 26c, 26d, as can be seen from the Figs. 8a and 8bAs can be seen, the individual segments 26a, 26b, 26c, 26d include chamfers 27 on their respective end faces. In an installation situation, the individual segments 26a, 26b, 26c, 26d are arranged such that their respective end-face chamfers 27 abut each other, see figure. Fig. 8b This allows the frame center seals 1 to be guided around corners and enables a stepless transition between two adjacent segments 26a, 26b, 26c, 26d.

[0046] The second embodiment of the invention shows, as can be seen from Fig. 9 It is evident that the cross-sectional design of the frame center seal 1 exhibits the same features as the first embodiment of the invention. The end-face chamfer 27 can, in particular, be formed at an angle of 45° ± 5°, preferably at an angle of at least substantially 45°.

[0047] Fig. 10Figure 1 shows a situation of two adjacent segments 26a, 26b in a frame 12, where the horizontally extending segment 26a of the frame's central seal 1 is shown shifted slightly to the right for clarity before being moved to its final position to the left. The exposed cross-sectional surfaces in the area of the chamfers 27 abut each other in the corner area of the frame 12. Due to the full-surface contact in the area of the chamfers 27, bonding in the area of the contact surfaces of segments 26a, 26b is not necessary in this configuration.

[0048] The first embodiment of the frame center seal 1 according to the invention can be particularly advantageously cut precisely by machine in the required manner and assembled as a circumferential frame by gluing.

[0049] In the second embodiment of the frame center seal 1 according to the invention, it is possible to completely dispense with gluing the butt surfaces of the seal.

[0050] In both embodiments of the invention, complex processing steps are eliminated, such as the provision of vulcanized corners and the precise cutting of the frame center seal 1 from meter-long material for connection with the vulcanized corners. The costs for manufacturing a corresponding window construction can thus be significantly reduced. The invention therefore represents a crucial contribution to the relevant prior art.
