Description
[0001] The present invention relates to a tipper vehicle with at least one attachable side wall extension, comprising a vehicle body and a tipper body with side walls supported thereon in a tiltable manner, wherein at least one of the side walls is assigned a side wall extension.
[0002] It is known from the prior art to equip tipper vehicles with side wall extensions in the area of their side walls in order to create an increased enclosed loading volume for light loads. In principle, such side wall extensions can be provided and installed on all four sides of tipper vehicles, which are often made of welded steel parts.
[0003] In this case, it is known from the prior art, for example, to provide form-fitting receiving devices for the side wall elevations on the side walls, for example welded pockets in the upper chord profile of the corresponding side wall, welded or screwed brackets on top of the outside of the side wall, welded or screwed brackets on the inside of the side wall or screwing holes on the side wall even at lower positions.
[0004] Examples of tipper vehicles with raised side walls are known from DE 20 2016 105 059 U1 and JP 2020 026221 A.
[0005] However, these support devices all have specific disadvantages, for example high manufacturing costs in the case of welded-in pockets as well as exposed components with an impact on the overall width of the vehicle or in the bulk material area on the inside of the corresponding side wall in the case of welded or screwed-on brackets, whereas if screwing holes are provided at lower positions, corresponding supports are then always exposed on the inside or outside and if the side wall extension is removed, holes in the bulk material area are exposed, which can be points of entry for corrosion or contamination.
[0006] Furthermore, the corresponding side wall extensions, which are often also referred to as add-on walls and can be made of aluminum profiles, must also be equipped with supports, which must be inserted into the form-fitting elements of the side walls and secured or screwed in place. This form-fitting insertion always requires a certain amount of play and can therefore lead to the side wall extensions becoming unstable during operation or to the possibility of further dirt penetration.
[0007] Furthermore, all such side wall extensions have in common that they must absorb the operating forces acting on the side wall extension in the area of their supports across their cross-section. This also inevitably leads to increased material requirements and manufacturing costs for the side wall extensions and their associated supports, so the state-of-the-art side wall extensions with their associated fastening devices on the side walls still have potential for improvement.
[0008] It is therefore the object of the present invention to provide a tipping vehicle of the generic type with at least one attachable side wall extension, which enables cost-effective production, does not require any exposed parts on the side wall and at the same time has excellent operating properties with regard to the accuracy of fit and strength of the connection between the side wall and the side wall extension.
[0009] For this purpose, in the tipper vehicle according to the invention, the corresponding at least one elevating side wall is arranged for attaching the side wall extension at its two side ends, wherein in the region of the side ends of the elevating side wall and at the two side ends of the side wall extension respective interfaces for attaching a connecting element for attaching the side wall extension to the side wall are provided and otherwise the side wall and the side wall extensions are free of attachment points.
[0010] Accordingly, the invention works with a direct connection between the at least one side wall to be raised and the associated respective side wall extension, so that the provision of supports or similar on the side wall extensions is unnecessary. The respective component thicknesses of the side wall and the side wall extension are utilized in order to be able to create a load-bearing coupling between the two components via the corresponding connecting elements. In particular, the connecting elements can absorb the bending forces of the side wall extension, which can arise, for example, from operating loads and cargo pressures, essentially as tensile and compressive forces. For this purpose, these tensile and compressive forces are permanently transmitted in a force-fitting manner. To further improve the force-fitting connection, appropriate additional elements such as corrugated shaped sheets, friction films or pastes could be used.
[0011] In any case, it is clear that the inventive design of a tipper vehicle not only saves the installation space for laterally mounted supports on the side wall extension and corresponding mounts in the side wall, but also allows the interfaces of the side wall extension to remain independent of its height and be designed cost-effectively. Furthermore, when installed, there is no play between the side wall extension and the side wall, thus preventing the penetration of dirt and corrosion.
[0012] InIn one possible embodiment, the at least one elevatable side wall can have a respective raised end section at its two side ends for attaching the side wall elevation, the at least one side wall elevation can have corresponding complementary recesses at its two side ends, and the interfaces can each be assigned to the raised end sections and the complementary recesses.
[0013] In particular, it has been shown that the absence of attachment points between the connecting elements provided at the end sections of the side wall and the side wall extension can be achieved by having the at least one attachable side wall extension comprise welded hollow profiles running longitudinally, which are provided with welded surrounds at the side ends of the side wall extension. As an alternative to welding, however, plugged or snapped hollow profiles with riveted or screwed surrounds can also be used. In this way, the side wall extension can be designed to be sufficiently stable and rigid in its connection, so that additional supports along its length are unnecessary.Furthermore, in a similar way, the recesses of the side wall elevation can also be enclosed by welded surrounds, although regardless of this measure, it must always be ensured that the area of the interfaces is sufficiently pressure-resistant.
[0014] Furthermore, in a particularly simple and cost-effective embodiment of the tipper vehicle according to the invention, the interfaces can be designed as holes or pairs of holes, and the connecting elements can be screwed to both the side wall and the side wall extension using the holes. Such holes can, for example, be laser-cut into the respective component, thus providing great flexibility with regard to the manufacturing processes of the respective components of the tipper vehicle. Furthermore, this design allows for a high degree of symmetry between the two ends of the side wall extension, which can further reduce its manufacturing costs.
[0015] According to the invention, the connecting elements comprise two opposing plate sections, each of which rests flat against both the side wall and the side wall extension. This ensures excellent transmission of forces and moments acting on the side wall extension and intended to be diverted into the side wall and thus the vehicle body. The design just described also ensures easy assembly and disassembly of the side wall extension on the corresponding side wall.
[0016] In one embodiment of the invention, the interfaces of the side wall extension can be designed such that the connecting elements are permanently attached to the side wall extension. This could, for example, involve welding the connecting elements to the side wall at corresponding welding points that act as interfaces.
[0017] Alternatively or additionally, the at least one side wall elevation can each be provided with a bevel on its underside and the corresponding side wall on its upper side. This ensures a continuous and smooth inner surface at the transition between the side wall and the side wall elevation, which can reliably prevent loads from becoming jammed in cavities or undercuts that might otherwise be present.
[0018] The side wall extension can also be fitted with a downward-drawn cover on the underside of the side facing the tipper's loading area. This allows the cover to cover and protect the lashing eyes often provided at corresponding positions on the inside of the side wall of tipper vehicles.
[0019] In particular, in some embodiments of the present invention, at least one of the raised end sections of the side wall can carry a rod for releasing an adjacent side wall for tipping or swinging. In such designs, the corresponding locking pin is thus positioned high up, so that the associated locking rod can also be arranged high up, leaving sufficient space below for the actuation path of a bracket for a side wall relief. The correspondingly raised end section thus fulfills two functions: on the one hand, it forms a starting point for the interfaces and the connecting element for coupling a side wall extension, and on the other hand, it allows for advantageous installation of a locking device for an adjacent side wall.
[0020] As already indicated above, the at least one attachable side wall extension can be made at least partially of aluminum or an aluminum alloy, whereby a good compromise can be found with regard to weight as well as mechanical properties and cost considerations.
[0021] Although, as mentioned, all the side walls of tipper vehicles can be equipped with such side wall extensions, both side walls of the tipper vehicle can, for example, be provided with attachable side wall extensions in any case.
[0022] Furthermore, the rear side wall of the tipper vehicle can be designed to swing and the corresponding swing axle can be carried on the raised end sections of the two adjacent side walls.
[0023] Finally, the at least one elevating side wall can be assigned an adjustable side wall relief, which is adaptable at least to a relief of the side wall without the side wall elevation and to a relief of the side wall with the side wall elevation and can thus compensate for the changing total weight of the side wall when it is provided with and coupled to the side wall elevation.
[0024] Further features and advantages of the present invention will become apparent from the following description of an embodiment thereof, when considered together with the accompanying figures. These show in detail: Fig. 1: an assembly of a tipper vehicle according to the invention formed from a side wall and a side wall extension; Fig. 2: detailed views of the two end sections of the assembly from Figure 1in an exploded view; and Fig. 3 an alternative embodiment of an assembly of a tipper vehicle according to the invention formed from a side wall and a side wall extension
[0025] In Figure 1 First, an assembly of a tipper vehicle according to the invention (not shown in detail) consisting of a side wall 10 and a side wall extension 12 is shown in an assembled state in an oblique side view. Both the side wall 10 and the side wall extension 12 are formed from welded profile parts, with steel being used for the side wall 10, for example, and an aluminum alloy being used for the side wall extension 12, for example.
[0026] In this case, the respective profiles of both the side wall 10 and the side wall extension 12 ensure sufficient strength and corresponding connection rigidity, which also allow the side wall 10 and the side wall extension 12 to be connected to one another only at their respective end sections 10a and 10b and 12a and 12b, while the side wall 10 and the side wall extension 12 can remain free of further fastening points over the rest of their length.
[0027] In order to remove the detachable connection between the side wall 10 and the side wall extension 12 from Figure 1 To clarify this further, the corresponding end sections 10a and 10b as well as 12a and 12b are shown in Figure 2Each is shown again in an enlarged exploded view, corresponding to a disassembled state of the side wall extension 12. It can be seen that the side wall 10 comprises, in the region of its end sections 10a and 10b, respective raised end sections 14a and 14b, one of which could, for example, carry a rod for releasing an adjacent side wall for tipping or swinging, thus having a dual function. Indeed, the two raised end sections 14a and 14b are provided with respective pairs of bores 16a and 16b, which, in the manner described below, form attachment points for the two connecting elements 18 and 20 for attaching the side wall extension 12.
[0028] First, however, it should be noted that the side wall elevation 12 comprises respective complementary recesses 22a and 22b in the areas 12a and 12b, which, like the two end sections 12a and 12b, are enclosed by welded surrounds 24a and 24b.
[0029] Furthermore, it can be seen that in the region of the recesses 22a and 22b, analogous to the side wall 10, respective pairs of bores 26a and 26b are provided, which, in a state in which the side wall elevation 12 is placed on the side wall 10 and the raised end sections 14a and 14b lie in the respective recesses 22a and 22b, are linearly aligned with the corresponding pairs of bores 16a and 16b.
[0030] In this state, the side wall extension 12 can now be mounted or fixed to the side wall 10 by means of the connecting elements 18 and 20, which each have two opposing plate sections 18a and 18b or 20a and 20b, as well as screw-nut combinations 18c and 20c projecting through them via bores. By now passing the four screws 18c of the first connecting element 18 through the corresponding bores 14a and 26a and locking them on the opposite side using the corresponding nuts, a firm connection to the side wall extension 12 can be achieved on this side of the side wall 10, which also applies analogously to the second connecting element 20 on the opposite side of the side wall 10 and the side wall extension 12.
[0031] Furthermore, the flat contact of the plate sections 18a and 18b or 20a and 20b on corresponding flat sections of both the side wall 10 and the side wall elevation 12 ensures an excellent transmission of forces and moments acting on the side wall elevation 12 to the side wall 10 and thus further to the vehicle body of the tipper vehicle according to the invention.
[0032] Furthermore, it should be noted that the side wall extension 12 is provided on its underside on the side facing the loading area of the tipper vehicle with a downwardly drawn panel 28, which can serve as a cover and to protect lashing eyes 30 provided on the side wall when the side wall extension 12 is mounted.
[0033] Figure 3shows an alternative embodiment of an assembly of a tipper vehicle according to the invention formed from a side wall 110 and a side wall elevation 112, wherein components which correspond to those from the embodiment of Figure 1 correspond, each with the same reference number increased by 100, and wherein with reference to Figure 1 their description is partly omitted.
[0034] In contrast to the embodiment from Figure 1 will be in Figure 3 the provision of raised end sections 14a, 14b and corresponding complementary recesses 22a, 22b is dispensed with and the underside of the side wall elevation 112, as well as the upper side of the side wall 100, is designed to be essentially straight over its entire length.
[0035] Furthermore, the connecting elements 118 and 120, in particular corresponding plate sections of the Figure 2shown, fixedly assigned to the side wall extension 112, for example welded to it. Accordingly, the corresponding interfaces 126a, 126b are formed by the respective welding points, while the interfaces 116a, 116b of the side wall 100 are identical to those of Figure 1 are designed so that the assembly of the side wall extensions 12, 112 can be carried out in the same way in both embodiments.
[0036] In this case, the connecting elements 118, 120 can also be provided on both sides of the side wall extension 112 or, for example, only on its outer side, if this already achieves a sufficiently strong connection between the side wall 110 and the side wall extension 112. It should also be noted that in a further variant, the properties of the two illustrated embodiments could be combined, so that even when the raised end sections and the corresponding complementary recesses are provided, the connecting elements could be permanently assigned to the side wall extension.
