AI Technical Summary
Existing vehicle glazing systems face challenges with vitrement holders that are not compact, light, or reliably fixed to the window, leading to potential damage and increased size and weight.
A glazing system with a compact and light vitrement holder that is securely fixed to the window using a wall lamp with an external base and covering wings, which transmit and distribute stresses directly to the exterior glass sheet and fix the holder to the glass via a plastic interlayer.
The solution provides a reliable, compact, and lightweight vitrement holder that maintains the same thickness as the visible part of the glazing, reducing the space needed inside the door and enhancing the vehicle's interior volume while minimizing weight.
Description
[0001] The invention relates to the field of glazing comprising a pane of glass and at least one pane holder to enable said pane of glass to be moved by translation.
[0002] The invention does not relate to the field of glazing in which the pane can be moved by rotation.
[0003] The invention is described with regard to a vehicle glazing application comprising a laminated pane then comprising an outer glass sheet, an inner glass sheet and an interlayer sheet of adhesive material located between said two glass sheets, said pane having an outer face intended to be oriented towards an exterior space, an edge and an inner face intended to be oriented towards an interior space.
[0004] The invention relates more particularly to a glazing comprising at least one glass holder having or not having an axis passing through said glass via a hole made in the glass.
[0005] The prior art knows a glass holder solution from international patent application No. WO 2008 / 065310. In this document, the glass holder has an axis passing through the glass through a hole, for the passage of a threaded attachment rod. This passage hole is complicated because it consists of two holes of different sizes each made in one of the two glass sheets of the laminated glass. A washer is placed inside the larger hole, then a nut is screwed onto the threaded attachment rod, on the side of the larger hole.
[0006] This solution is likely to be improved because in use, the forces applied to the glass by the glass holder are likely to damage the lamination. In addition, the compactness, as well as the weight, can be improved (reduced).
[0007] The prior art also knows from document DE 3535719 a glass holder system with a plate and counter-washer having a spiral external surface and three lugs, which must be screwed inside a partially tubular element, in three parts, linked to the plate. This system is intended to make it possible to catch up with tolerances but is not sufficiently reliable because in the absence of a counter-plate, all the forces pass through the plate.
[0008] The prior art also knows from document WO 2018 / 178882 a particular fixing zone: the outer glass is present, as well as the interlayer sheet of adhesive material, but the inner glass sheet is absent.
[0009] In the exemplary embodiment of the glazing illustrated in Figure 9A of this document, an insert is fixed to the inner glass sheet by gluing using the interlayer sheet of adhesive material; the inner glass sheet is not bonded to the insert because there is a space between them. The insert is relatively thin (its thickness is that of the inner glass sheet); it may not be strong enough to reliably attach the glazing to the system ensuring its movement.
[0010] In the exemplary embodiment of the glazing illustrated in Figure 9B of the document, an insert is fixed to the inner glass sheet by gluing, with a tab of the insert which cooperates with the inner face of the inner glass sheet. However, such a tab locally forms an excess thickness, a bulge, relative to the inner sheet so that the insert according to the exemplary embodiment of Figure 9B has the disadvantage of increasing the size of the glazing.
[0011] However, the size of laminated glazing is an important characteristic for side glazing given its installation in the restricted space of a motor vehicle door.
[0012] Furthermore, the bulkiness of the glazing is also an important characteristic when interchangeability between a laminated type side glazing and a monolithic type side glazing is desired by the car manufacturer in order to standardize the connecting means and the associated drive device. WO 2014 / 029605 A1 discloses another example of the known vehicle glazing.
[0013] The present invention intends to remedy the drawbacks of the prior art and more particularly and preferably aims at glazing provided with at least one very compact and very light glass holder, while being very solid and very well fixed and attached to the glass.
[0014] The present invention intends to propose a solution whereby the thickness of the glazing in the fixing zone is identical to the thickness of the glazing in the visible part of the glazing; there is therefore no excess thickness in the fixing zone.
[0015] Thus, when a vehicle series provides laminated glass for some models of the series and monolithic glass for other models of the series, identical connecting means and a drive device for both series can be used.
[0016] The present invention also intends to constitute a solution for fixing the glass holder "in hidden time", during the lamination operation by which the laminated glass is formed.
[0017] The present invention aims to constitute a particularly compact and reliable solution for a curved window.
[0018] For this purpose, the invention relates to a glazing for a vehicle movable in height according to claim 1. This glazing comprises a laminated pane comprising an outer glass sheet, an inner glass sheet and an interlayer sheet of plastic material located between said two glass sheets, said pane having an outer face intended to be oriented towards an exterior space, an edge and an inner face intended to be oriented towards an interior space, said glazing having a fixing zone in which a glass holder is fixed to said pane, said fixing zone possibly having a fixing hole.
[0019] Said glazing is remarkable in that said glass holder comprises: an application base having an outer base face (preferably entirely) in contact with an inner face of said outer glass sheet and located in a complementary housing provided in said interlayer sheet of plastic material, and at least one, and preferably two, covering wing(s) having an outer wing face which is (preferably entirely) in contact with an inner interlayer face of said interlayer sheet of plastic material.
[0020] By "fastener" or "attachment" within the meaning of the present invention, it is meant mechanical fasteners, which are attached and detached manually or with the aid of a mechanical tool. What is attached is thus in a fixed position; hooking, screwing, inserting or clipping are each an attachment. The axis of the window holder mentioned above is thus an attachment axis.
[0021] By "fixing" in the sense of the present invention, we mean chemical fixings, which cause irreversible molecular modifications, except to break the bond and render the glass holder unusable; gluing is a fixing.
[0022] Each of these two expressions excludes the other.
[0023] Preferably, to increase the reliability of the fixing of the glass holder to the glass, two covering wings extend laterally, respectively to the left and to the right of said application base (when said glass holder is considered vertically, for use in vertically positioned glazing).
[0024] The application base allows the stresses experienced by the glass holder to be transmitted and distributed directly (without an intermediate layer) to the outer glass sheet; the covering wing, or each covering wing, allows the glass holder to be fixed to the glass by means of the interlayer sheet of plastic material. It is preferably made of a single material.
[0025] Preferably, in order for the glass holder to be particularly compact, said application base has a thickness which is equal to the sum of the thickness of said interlayer sheet of plastic material and the thickness of said inner sheet of glass (the thickness of said interlayer sheet of plastic material and of said inner sheet of glass being generally constant).
[0026] Preferably, in order for the glass holder to be particularly compact, said covering wing (or each covering wing) has a thickness which is equal to the thickness of said inner glass sheet.
[0027] Preferably, to increase the reliability of the attachment of the glass holder to the glass, said glass holder comprises an application tab having: an outer tab face (preferably entirely) in contact with an inner face of said outer glass sheet and located in a complementary housing provided in said interlayer sheet of plastic material, and an inner tab face (preferably entirely) in contact with an outer face of said inner glass sheet.
[0028] The application tab contributes to the correct transmission and distribution, directly (without an intermediate layer), of the stresses undergone by the glass holder to the outer glass sheet and the inner glass sheet.
[0029] Thus, said application tab has a thickness which is equal to the thickness of said interlayer sheet of plastic material.
[0030] Said application tab is preferably located above said application base (when said glass holder is considered vertically, for use in a vertically positioned glazing unit having the glass holder at the bottom).
[0031] In a particular variant, said wall-mounted base comprises a hole having an axis which is coaxial with said fixing hole, said hole preferably being centered laterally (left and right) relative to a width at this location of said wall-mounted base.
[0032] The glazing according to the invention preferably comprises two glass holders.
[0033] The invention also relates to a method for manufacturing a vehicle glazing unit that can be moved in height according to the invention, said glazing unit comprising a window comprising an outer glass sheet, an inner glass sheet and an interlayer sheet of plastic material located between said two glass sheets, said window unit having an outer face intended to be oriented towards an exterior space, an edge and an inner face intended to be oriented towards an interior space, said glazing unit having a fixing zone in which a window holder is fixed to said window unit, said fixing zone possibly having a fixing hole.
[0034] The said method is remarkable in that an outer base face of said application base is applied (preferably entirely) in contact with an inner face of said outer glass sheet and is positioned in the complementary housing provided in said interlayer sheet of plastic material, and at least one, and preferably two, outer wing face(s) of a covering wing is positioned (preferably entirely) in contact with an inner interlayer face of said interlayer sheet of plastic material, then a lamination step is implemented to produce said laminated glass.
[0035] In a variant, prior to said lamination step: an outer tab face of an application tab is applied (preferably entirely) in contact with an inner face of said outer glass sheet and is positioned in a complementary housing provided in said interlayer sheet of plastic material, and an inner tab face of said application tab is applied (preferably entirely) in contact with an outer face of said inner glass sheet.
[0036] Advantageously, the present invention makes it possible to fix a window holder to a glazing in a reliable and compact manner. A compact attachment and fixing solution makes it possible to reduce the height and / or thickness of the window holder, i.e. respectively along the vertical axis Z of the vehicle and along the lateral axis Y of the vehicle for a side glazing; this therefore makes it possible to reduce the space required inside the door and thus to increase the volume available inside the vehicle. This also makes it possible to lighten the glazing.
[0037] The following figures illustrate the invention in a non-limiting manner. [0038] The elements depicted are to scale with each other in each figure; background elements are generally not shown.
[0039] The present invention relates to a glazing 1, 1', as seen respectively in figure 1 And 8 , and in exploded views in figures 2 And 9 , comprising a pane 2, 2'. The pane 2, 2' is here laminated and comprises an outer glass sheet 3, an inner glass sheet 5 and an interlayer sheet of plastic material 4 located between said two glass sheets, and in contact with these two glass sheets.
[0040] The present invention is described by way of example in the context of an application as vehicle glazing, this glazing creating a separation between an exterior space E which is exterior to the vehicle and an interior space I which is interior to the vehicle. The notions of “exterior face” and “interior face” are therefore considered in relation respectively to this exterior space E and this interior space I.
[0041] The present invention is described in particular as applied to a vehicle side glazing and more precisely in the context of an application to a vehicle door side glazing which is movable in height, along the vertical; figures 1 And 8 being a front view, of the interior space I, of the glazing 1, 1' before its installation in a door.
[0042] In the context of this document, the notion of verticality is introduced with reference to the vertical axis Z of a vehicle; the central horizontal longitudinal axis of advance of the vehicle equipped with the glazing according to the invention as side glazing, being the axis generally called the X axis of the vehicle, as visible in figures 1 And 8 and the horizontal lateral axis being the Y axis (not shown).
[0043] The glazing 1, 1' is intended to close a bay which is here provided in a door of the vehicle, not illustrated.
[0044] The pane 2, 2' of the glazing 1, 1' cannot be a monolithic pane, consisting of a single sheet of glass but is here a laminated pane which comprises, from the inside to the outside and in contact, at least: the outer glass sheet 3, the interlayer sheet of plastic material 4 and the inner glass sheet 5; however, it is possible for at least one other sheet to be interposed between the outer glass sheet 3 and the interlayer sheet of plastic material 4 or between the interlayer sheet of plastic material 4 and the inner glass sheet 5.
[0045] The glass 2, 2' is preferably made up only of the outer glass sheet 3, the interlayer sheet of plastic material 4 and the inner glass sheet 5 in order to be more compact.
[0046] The window 2, 2' has an outer face 20 which is oriented towards the outer space E, an inner face 22 which is oriented towards the inner space I and an edge located between these two faces. Here it is curved.
[0047] The outer glass sheet 3 has an outer face 30 which is merged with the outer face 20 of the window 2, 2', an inner face 32 which is oriented towards the interlayer sheet of plastic material 4, an edge 31 located between these two faces and a thickness e 3 substantially observed, preferably in the range from 1.60 mm to 3.45 mm, for example here 3.45 mm.
[0048] The inner glass sheet 5 has an outer face 50 which is oriented towards the interlayer sheet of plastic material 4, an inner face 52 which is merged with the inner face 22 of the window 2, 2'; an edge 51 located between these two faces and a thickness e 5 substantially observed, preferably in the range from 0.70 mm to 1.40 mm, for example here 0.70 mm.
[0049] The plastic interlayer sheet 4 has an outer interlayer face 40 which is oriented towards the inner face 32 and which is here in contact with this inner face 32, an inner interlayer face 42 which is oriented towards the outer face 50 and which is here in contact with this outer face 50, an edge 41 which is located between these two interlayer faces and a thickness e 4 substantially observed, for example 0.78 mm. It is here made of polyvinyl butyral.
[0050] The glazing has two parts: an upper part, visible, and a lower part, invisible, when installed; this lower part is always hidden inside the door, regardless of the state of the glazing (open, closed, or in between). The visibility limit, which separates the two parts, is marked by a line LV.
[0051] In the visible part of the glazing, the edge of the glass thus corresponds to edge 31 of the outer glass sheet 3, to edge 41 of the interlayer sheet of plastic material 4 and to edge 51 of the inner glass sheet 5, these three edges being here substantially in continuity with each other, plus or minus 1 millimeter.
[0052] In the non-visible part of the glazing, below the line LV, the glazing 1, 1' has a fixing zone F, F' in which at least one glass holder 6, 6' is fixed respectively to the glass 2, 2'.
[0053] In this fixing zone, the glass 2, 2' is not completely laminated: the three elements constituting at least the lamination are not all present over the entire surface of the fixing zone F, F', as detailed below.
[0054] The glazing 1, 1' comprises, in addition to the pane 2, 2', near one edge (here the lower longitudinal edge), at least one, and preferably two, pane holders 6, 6', supporting the pane 2, 2' in the installed state.
[0055] This 6.6' glass holder is intended to accommodate an attachment element, not shown, which is intended to allow the glass holder to be attached in a movement system for raising and lowering the glazing.
[0056] To facilitate the movement of the glazing in height, a second glass holder is preferably positioned in the fixing zone F, F'; the glazing 1, 1', in its configuration of use, thus preferably comprises two glass holders.
[0057] Two main variants of the fixing are presented here: in a first variant, illustrated in figures 1 à 7 , the fixing zone F does not have any holes and the glass holders 6 consequently do not have any holes, and in a second variant, illustrated in figures 8 à 14 , the fixing zone F' has two fixing holes H; each of the two glass holders 6 has a fixing hole 63.
[0058] Thus, what distinguishes the 6 glass holders from the 6' glass holders is the presence of a fixing hole 63.
[0059] In the first variant, the two glass holders 6 are not exactly identical but they have the same general shape, without a hole; this is why they bear the same reference. The glass 2 of this first variant does not have a hole.
[0060] In the second variant, the two 6' glass holders are not exactly identical but they have the same general shape, with a hole; this is why they bear the same reference. The 2' glass of this second variant has two holes 33.
[0061] Although not shown, it is entirely possible for a glazing attachment area to have a 6" glass holder without a hole and a 6" glass holder with a hole.
[0062] The 6, 6' glass doors have been grayed out on the figures 2 And 9 to facilitate the visualization of their shapes and positions.
[0063] The 6.6' glass door includes: an application base 7 having an outer application face 70, which is oriented towards the outer space E, an inner application face 72 which is oriented towards the inner space I, an edge located between these two faces and a thickness e 7 substantially observed, and at least one, and preferably two, covering wing(s) 8, 8' having an outer wing face 80 which is oriented towards the outer space E, an inner wing face 82 which is oriented towards the inner space I, an edge located between these two faces and a thickness e 8, e 8' substantially observed.
[0064] The 7 wall light base has been grayed out on the figures 6 And 13 to facilitate the visualization of its shape and positioning.
[0065] The base of the application 7 is located in a housing 9 of complementary shape to the periphery of the base of the application 7 and which is arranged in the interlayer sheet of plastic material 4. The housing 9 is a removal (an absence) of the interlayer sheet of plastic material 4 over its entire thickness. On each side of the housing 9, the interlayer sheet of plastic material 4 is present and makes a projection 48, 48', which goes in the vertical direction, up to a lower edge 25 of the window 2, 2'.
[0066] The outer application face 70 is in contact over its entire surface with the inner face 32 of the outer glass sheet 3.
[0067] The inner application face 72 is located in the extension of the inner face 52 of the inner glass sheet.
[0068] The outer wing face 80, 80' is in contact over its entire surface with the inner interlayer face 42 of the plastic interlayer sheet 4; the covering wing thus rests and adheres to the plastic interlayer sheet 4.
[0069] The outer wing face 82, 82' is in the extension of the inner face 52 of the inner glass sheet.
[0070] The interlayer sheet of plastic material 4 is therefore present opposite the covering wing 8, 8', and preferably the two covering wings 8, 8', and is absent opposite the application base 7.
[0071] The glass holder 6, 6' is thus fixed to the glass 2, 2' and adheres to the glass 2, 2' by means of the covering wing 8, 8' or the covering wings 8, 8' when there are several of them, which is (or are) glued by the interlayer sheet of plastic material 4.
[0072] The glass holder 6, 6' here comprises two covering wings 8, 8' which extend laterally, respectively to the left and to the right of the wall-mounted base 7. These covering wings 8, 8' have been shaded in gray on the figures 3 And 10 to facilitate the visualization of their shapes and positions.
[0073] The base thickness e 7 of the application base 7 is equal to the sum of the thickness e 4 of the interlayer sheet of plastic material 4 and the thickness e 5 of said inner glass sheet 5.
[0074] The wing thickness, respectively e 8 , e 8' of the covering wing 8, 8' is equal for each to the thickness e 5 of the inner glass sheet 5.
[0075] The covering wing 8, 8' (or each covering wing 8, 8') has a height h8, h8' identical to the height of the base of the application 7. This height corresponds to the distance between the lower end of the edge 51 of the inner glass sheet and the lower edge 25 of the window 2, 2'. Here it is 85 mm.
[0076] The width at the bottom, at the narrowest point, 17b of the wall-mounted base 7 is 69 mm.
[0077] The glass holder 6, 6' further comprises here an application tab 7' having an outer tab face 70', which is oriented towards the outer space E, an inner tab face 72 which is oriented towards the inner space, an edge located between these two faces and a substantially constant thickness e 7'.
[0078] The application tab 7' is located in a housing 9' of complementary shape to the periphery of the application tab 7' and which is arranged in the interlayer sheet of plastic material 4. The housing 9' is a removal (an absence) of the interlayer sheet of plastic material 4 over its entire thickness. The housing 9' is in the continuity of the housing 9, above; together they form a single housing.
[0079] The outer tongue face 70' is in contact over its entire surface with the inner face 32 of the outer glass sheet 3.
[0080] The inner tab face 72' is in contact over its entire surface with the outer face 50 of the inner glass sheet 5.
[0081] The thickness e 7' of the application tab 7' is equal to the thickness e 4 of the interlayer sheet of plastic material 4.
[0082] The 7' applique tab is located above the 7' applique base and is connected to the 7' applique base. As seen in particular on the figures 5 And 12 , the application tab 7' is inserted between the outer glass sheet 3 and the inner glass sheet 5. It participates in the positioning and attachment of the glass holder 6, 6' to the glass 2, 2'.
[0083] The 7' surface-mounted tab has a height h7' which is 40 mm here and a width at the top, at the widest point, 17'h of 137 mm.
[0084] The glass holder has a total height equal to the sum of the height h7 of the base of the applique 7 and the height h7' of the tab of the applique 7'; here it is 125 mm. The glass holder has a total width 16h, equal to the sum of the width of the base of the applique 7 at the widest point and the width of the covering wings 8, 8' at the widest point; here it is 324 mm. The glass holder has a minimum width, here at the lowest, 16b of 95 mm.
[0085] In the second variant, the glazing 1' is intended to be movable in height and the outer sheet 3 has for this purpose at least one hole 33, tubular, opening onto the two faces of the outer sheet 3, the outer face 30 and the inner face 32. This hole 33 has an axis and has a circular internal section; it does not open onto the edge 31 of the outer sheet 3: it is completely of circular section and it is not a notch.
[0086] In this second variant, the wall-mounted base 7 has a hole 63 having an axis which is coaxial with the hole 33 of the outer glass sheet 3. This hole 63 is here centered relative to the width of the wall-mounted base 7 at this location.
[0087] The fixing and mechanical attachment of the glass holder 6, 6' to the glass 2, 2' is carried out in the following manner: the outer base face 70 of the application base 7 is positioned in the complementary housing 9 formed in the interlayer sheet of plastic material 4 and is applied entirely in contact with the inner face 32 of the outer glass sheet 3 and, at least one, and preferably two, outer wing face(s) 80, 80' of the covering wings 8, 8' is positioned entirely in contact with the inner interlayer face 42 of the interlayer sheet of plastic material 4, then a lamination step is implemented to produce said laminated glass 2, 2'.
[0088] For the case where a 7' applique tab is present, prior to lamination: the outer tab face 70' of the application tab 7' is positioned in the complementary housing 9' provided in the interlayer sheet of plastic material 4, and is applied entirely in contact with the inner face 32 of the outer glass sheet 3 and the inner tab face 72' of the application tab 7' is applied entirely in contact with the outer face 50 of the inner glass sheet 5.
[0089] The glass holder can be made up of two elements: the surface-mounted base 7 and a covering wing 8, 8'; without any other element.
[0090] The glass holder may consist of three elements: the surface-mounted base 7 and two covering wings 8, 8', without any other element; or the surface-mounted base 7, a covering wing 8, 8' and the surface-mounted tab 7'.
[0091] The glass holder can be made up of four elements: the surface-mounted base 7, two covering wings 8, 8' and the surface-mounted tab 7'.
[0092] The surface-mounted base 7 and the covering wing(s) 8, 8' with possibly also the surface-mounted tab 7' are preferably made of a single piece and more preferably of a single material; they are rigid; they can be made of plastic or metal or even of a metal alloy. Advantageously, the glass holder forms an insert; it can be made of a plastic material, in particular polyamide (PA) for example PA 6-6, polyoxymethylene (POM) ( aussi appelé polyformaldéhyde ou polyacétal ), polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), polyethylene terephthalate (PET); it is therefore particularly light and resistant. Advantageously, the material of the window holder has a Shore D hardness of between 70 and 90.
[0093] The glass holder 6, 6' does not have any portion extending in the inside-outside orientation further inward than the inner face 52 of the inner glass sheet 5. It does not have any portion extending in the inside-outside orientation further outward than the outer face 30 of the outer glass sheet 3; preferably, it does not have any portion extending further outward than the inner face 32 of the outer glass sheet 3. It does not have any portion extending in the vertical direction lower than the edge 31 of the outer glass sheet 3.
[0094] The 6.6' glass holder is particularly compact; its thickness at its thickest is that of the laminated glass at its thickest.
[0095] The glass holder 6, 6' is in the general form of an arrangement of plates (appliance base 7, covering wing(s) 8, 8', application tab 7'); these plates are not flat if the glass 2, 2' is curved in the fixing zone F, F'; The glass holder 6, 6' is adapted to the curvature of the glass 2, 2', if applicable and this adaptation is particularly precise because the application base is against the outer glass sheet.
