Description

[0001] The field of the invention is logistics. More specifically, the field of the invention is the design and manufacture of secure packages and tracking systems for monitoring the status of the package in real time.

[0002] The invention relates more specifically to packages provided with seals.

[0003] Parcels are used to transport objects within a supply chain.

[0004] Generally speaking, a package is a container defining a cavity in which one or more objects are intended to be positioned during transport.

[0005] The packages also include means of closing the package to prevent access to the cavity and its contents.

[0006] For example, a package may be formed by a box defining the cavity, together with a cover mounted movably or removably on the box, or by one or more flaps presented by the box itself. Boxes or cartons are conventionally used to form such packages.

[0007] Generally speaking, it is important to be able to control and / or guarantee the conformity, presence, and origin of the contents of packages.

[0008] For this purpose, security measures may be used on packages.

[0009] In particular, seals may be affixed to packages to verify that they have not been opened.

[0010] Seals are typically a device attached to an item to be safeguarded (for example, a document, a package, a room, etc.) in such a way that it is impossible to open the item without breaking and damaging the seal.

[0011] A seal may consist of a single stamp with a seal, such as a wax seal protecting an authentic document, or a lead seal of the type protecting water or energy consumption meters.

[0012] According to an example of a seal, we know the plastic labels stuck on the two parts of a box intended to be separated from each other to allow access to the contents of the box. These plastic labels have a through dotted cut extending along an interface between the two parts of the box. Opening the box then involves a tearing of the label along the dotted cut, thus signifying a deliberate or accidental opening of this box.

[0013] According to another example of a seal, plastic seals are known which make it possible to ensure that postal bags, containers or metal boxes remain in a closed configuration. These seals are generally made of plastic and comprise a body and a link extending from the body. The link is relatively flexible and is intended to form a loop and then be engaged in a complementary opening presented by the body. The opening and the link are designed so that the introduction of the link into the opening is irreversible, and that only irreversible degradation of the seal allows the loop to be opened.

[0014] A seal thus includes, according to a classic design, a part which is irreversibly degradable when the item on which the seal is affixed is opened.

[0015] Such seals are particularly simple to manufacture and implement.

[0016] These seals are designed to be used in various situations, for various types of objects or containers, and can therefore be described as "generic".

[0017] However, there appears to be a desire for more specific integration of a seal on a package, and in particular on so-called "reusable" packages.

[0018] Furthermore, the seals described above do not allow us to know precisely, in particular in real time or in delayed time by time stamp, when an object has been opened, or to know the state of the seal without a visual consultation directly carried out on the sealed object, which is sometimes or often impossible.

[0019] In the field of the invention, it is also known to use labels incorporating unique identifiers, such as alphanumeric references, barcodes, or even radio frequency identification (RFID) means, on bottles of wine.

[0020] Such identification means improve the information relating to the labeled product but do not fully meet the need mentioned. Document US 10,444,805 B1 describes a package in accordance with the preamble of claim 1, the seal of which is equipped with an RFID tag intended to be read remotely by an electronic device implemented by a user.

[0021] The invention aims in particular to meet the need relating to the more specific integration of a seal on a package.

[0022] More specifically, the invention aims to propose a package having a seal specially designed to be integrated into the package, and having an additional capacity for monitoring the condition of the seal, other than that relating to an on-site visual check of the condition of the seal.

[0023] The invention also aims to provide such a package which makes it possible to know precisely when the seal has been broken, for example when the package is opened.

[0024] The invention also aims to provide such a package whose seal is simple to implement.

[0025] These objectives, as well as others which will appear subsequently, are achieved thanks to the invention which relates to a package comprising the characteristics of claim 1. The package thus comprises: a container having a cavity, and a female member, called the first female member; closure means, the package having a closure configuration in which the closure means prohibit access to the cavity, and an opening configuration in which the closure means authorize access to the cavity; a seal intended to ensure that the package remains in its closure configuration; in which the seal comprises: a male member, called the first male member, complementary to the first female member, the seal being intended to be attached to the package in an attached position guaranteeing the package remains closed in which the first male member is anchored and held captive in the first female member; at least one irreversibly degradable part during a passage of the package, with the seal in its attached position, from the closed configuration to the open configuration or during an unsealing of the seal, characterized in that the seal comprises a component for controlling the integrity of the seal, the control component being integrated at least partially in the degradable part; and in that the package comprises an electronic unit for controlling the integrity of the seal, the electronic unit comprising: means for detecting a degradation of the control component;means for initiating the detection means when the seal is positioned in its reported position.;

[0026] The package according to the invention is provided with a seal specially designed for the container.

[0027] In fact, the seal must be anchored in the container and thus has a predetermined position when it is put into operation. This position corresponds to its so-called "position guaranteeing the package remains closed".

[0028] Thanks to the electronic control unit, an additional check of the seal condition, other than a routine visual check of the seal, is carried out.

[0029] This control, carried out by the detection means, starts simply and automatically when the seal is installed. This automatic start is enabled by means of the priming means of the detection means, and the single action of anchoring the seal in its predetermined position triggers the priming of the detection means.

[0030] The implementation of the seal is therefore particularly simple and quick.

[0031] According to a preferred embodiment, the closing means have a female member, called the second female member, and in that the seal comprises: a second male member complementary to the second female member, the second male member being intended to be anchored and held captive in the second female member in the attached position; a body extending longitudinally between the male members and having said at least one degradable part, the body of the seal being positioned covering an interface between the container and the closing means in the reported position of the seal.

[0032] Thanks to this embodiment, the seal extends to the surface of the package between the two female organs presented respectively by the container and by the closing means.

[0033] This seal is thus anchored on either side of the interface when it is in its attached position, ensuring that the package remains closed.

[0034] In this case and according to an advantageous characteristic, in the reported position of the seal, the body of the seal follows a contour of the package between the first female member and the second female member.

[0035] By matching the outline of the package between the first female member and the second female member, the seal is then pressed against the outline of the package in its reported position, at least between its two male members.

[0036] In this way, the seal does not have any part extending freely from the package between its two male members and which could be accidentally torn off when handling the package or if it falls.

[0037] According to a preferred solution, in the attached portion of the seal, the body of the seal is received in grooves presented by the container and by the closing means, the body of the seal having a thickness less than or equal to the depth of each of the grooves.

[0038] In this way, the seal is protected inside the grooves during handling of the package.

[0039] In other words, when it is in its reported position, then the seal does not protrude outside the grooves presented by the package.

[0040] If the package is brought into contact with a foreign body, at the seal level, then it is more than likely that the edges of the grooves are themselves in contact with this foreign body and that the seal is not subjected to any force likely to damage it.

[0041] Preferably, the body has a central portion located between the first male member and the second male member, and bordered by two degradable parts, the central portion being intended to be detached when the seal is unsealed.

[0042] The seal thus has an intuitive operation requiring, when unsealing the seal, a simple tearing off, for example, of this central portion.

[0043] The degradable parts are then, for example, formed by pre-cuts weakening the body in a predetermined manner.

[0044] Advantageously, the control component comprises an electrically conductive track.

[0045] In this way, when the degradable part is irreversibly degraded during the passage of the package from its closed configuration to its open configuration or during the unsealing of the seal, then the electrical continuity of the electrically conductive track is broken and it is this break which can be detected by means of the detection means.

[0046] For example, a continuous or variable electric current, sent periodically by the detection means, can make it possible to know whether the electrically conductive track is intact or not.

[0047] If the direct electric current or an electrical pulse sent into the electrically conductive track does not reach a conclusion, then the seal is either degraded or absent, which corresponds to a loosening of the seal.

[0048] According to a preferred solution: the control component has at least one electrically conductive terminal; the initiating means comprise a connector for each terminal of the control component, and, in the reported position of the seal, the connector(s) are brought into contact with the terminal(s).

[0049] Thanks to this solution, simply affixing the seal to the package makes it possible to establish electrical contact between the connectors and the terminals.

[0050] This solution is particularly simple to implement.

[0051] Advantageously, the control component comprises an electronic device for wireless communication with the electronic unit.

[0052] In this way, the seal can send, without a wired connection, information to the electronic unit to inform it of its status.

[0053] For example, the electronic wireless communication device may be a radio-identification antenna (also designated by the acronym RFID of English origin) which would be coupled to the electrically conductive track of the control component which is integrated at least partially in the degradable part.

[0054] In this case, preferably, the control component includes a memory integrating a unique identifier.

[0055] This allows you to know exactly which seal is located on the package.

[0056] This unique identifier makes it possible to avoid the use of incompatible or non-accepted seals in a traceability system implementing the package according to the invention.

[0057] According to an alternative embodiment, the electronic unit comprises wireless communication means with a remote computer server, the electronic unit being configured to send an alert to the remote computer server via the wireless communication means upon detection of degradation of the control component by the detection means.

[0058] The package, thanks to this embodiment variant, has the capacity to communicate the status of the seal to a remote computer server.

[0059] According to a possible application, the final recipient of the package can then be informed if their package has been opened, or more precisely unsealed, prior to receipt, while being aware of this event at the time or shortly after its occurrence.

[0060] Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will appear more clearly on reading the following description of different preferred embodiments of the invention, given as illustrative and non-limiting examples, and the appended drawings among which: [ Fig. 1a ] there figure 1a is a schematic representation in perspective from above of a package according to the invention, in a closing configuration in which closing means prohibit access to the contents of the package, the package being provided with a seal intended to guarantee that the package remains in its closing configuration; [ Fig. 1b ] there figure 1b is a simplified schematic representation in perspective from above of the package according to the invention, in an opening configuration in which the closing means allow access to the package; [ Fig. 2 ] there figure 2 is a schematic cross-sectional representation of the seal affixed to the package according to the invention; [ Fig. 3 ] there figure 3 is a schematic perspective representation from above of the seal; [ Fig. 4 ] there figure 4 is a schematic perspective representation from above and behind of the seal; [ Fig. 5a ] there figure 5a is a schematic representation illustrating a step of affixing the seal to the package according to the invention; [ Fig. 5b ] there figure 5b is a schematic representation illustrating a step of affixing the seal of the seal following that of the figure 5a ; [ Fig. 5c ] there figure 5c is a schematic representation illustrating a step of affixing the seal of the seal following that of the figure 5c ; [ Fig. 6 ] there figure 6 is a schematic perspective representation from above of the package in a flat configuration and with two seals affixed to the package.

[0061] In reference to the figures 1a, 1b And 6 , a package 1 according to the invention is shown.

[0062] The package 1 comprises a container 2 which has a cavity 20 intended for example to accommodate an object intended to be transported.

[0063] The package 1 also includes closing means 3 for closing the cavity 20.

[0064] The closing means 3 are formed by a cover.

[0065] This cover is, still according to the present embodiment, mounted to move relative to the container 2. More precisely, the cover is mounted to move in rotation on the rear panel 203 of the container 2.

[0066] According to one possible embodiment, the cover may be removable and intended to be simply attached to the container 2.

[0067] More specifically and with reference to the figures 1a et 1b , the package can adopt a closing configuration ( figure 1a ) or an opening configuration ( figure 1b ).

[0068] In the closed configuration, the closing means 3 prohibit access to the cavity 20, and in the open configuration the closing means 3 authorize access to the cavity 20.

[0069] In these configurations of use and closure, the container 2 is shaped to define the cavity 20. This container 2 takes in particular the form of a box.

[0070] According to the present embodiment and as detailed below, the package 1 can also adopt a flat configuration.

[0071] The container 2 more precisely comprises a base 204, as well as a peripheral rim composed of a front panel 201, two side panels 202, and a rear panel 203.

[0072] As illustrated by the figure 6 , the package 1 can be folded into a flat configuration. In this flat configuration, the side panels 202 are folded down onto the bottom 204, the rear panel 203 is folded down in line with the bottom 204, and the front panel 201 and the cover (which forms the closing means 3) are folded down onto the bottom 204, covering the side panels 202, the cover extending in line with the front panel 201.

[0073] In its flat configuration, package 1 has a minimal footprint.

[0074] According to the principle of the invention and with reference to the figures 1a à 6 , the package 1 comprises at least one seal 4 which is intended to guarantee that the package 1 is maintained in its closed configuration, that is to say to guarantee that the package 1 has been maintained in its closed configuration throughout the shipping.

[0075] For this purpose, the container 2 has a female member, called the first female member 21, and the seal 4 comprises a male member, called the first male member 41. The first male member 41 is complementary to the first female member 21.

[0076] The seal 4 is intended to be installed in a position attached to the package 1, in which the seal guarantees that the package 1 remains closed, i.e. that the package 1 has been kept closed. In this position, the first male member 41 is anchored and held captive in the first female member 21.

[0077] According to the present embodiment, the closing means 3, formed by the cover, have a female member, called the second female member 31. The seal 4 comprises another male member, called the second male member 42. The second male member 42 is complementary to the second female member 31.

[0078] Like the first male organ and the first female organ, this second male organ is intended to be anchored and held captive in the second female organ in the reported position of the seal 4.

[0079] As illustrated by the figures 2 à 5 , and still according to the principle of the invention, the seal 4 comprises at least one degradable part 400 during a passage of the package 1, with the seal 4 in its attached position, from the closing configuration to the opening configuration or during an unsealing of the seal 4.

[0080] The or each degradable part 400 is irreversibly degradable. In other words, when the or each degradable part 400 is degraded, it cannot recover its initial non-degraded state.

[0081] According to the present embodiment, the seal 4 comprises two degradable parts 400.

[0082] These degradable parts 400 are formed by pre-cuts, that is to say by cutting lines initiating a cutting of the seal 4.

[0083] According to the present embodiment, the seal 4 comprises a body 40 which extends longitudinally between the male members and which has the degradable parts 400.

[0084] In reference to the figures 1a , 2 And 5c , the body 40 of the seal 4 is positioned covering an interface between the container 2 and the closing means 3 in the attached position of the seal 4.

[0085] More precisely, in this reported position of the seal 4, the body 40 of the seal follows a contour of the package 1 between the first female member 21 and the second female member 31.

[0086] This body 40 is notably formed by a strip.

[0087] Body 40 presents: a first part 401, carrying the first male member 41 which projects from a lower face of the body 40, and a second part 402, carrying the second male member 42 which projects from the lower face of the body 40.

[0088] Between the first part 401 and the second part 402, the body 40 has a central portion 403.

[0089] In other words, this central portion 403 is located between the first male member 41 and the second male member 42.

[0090] The first part 401 and the second part 402 of the body 40 of the seal are separated from the central portion 403 by the two degradable parts 400. The central portion 403 is thus bordered by the two degradable parts 400, this central portion being intended to be detached when the seal 4 is unsealed.

[0091] In reference to the figure 5c , the seal 4, and in particular its body 40, is flexible, which makes it possible to deform the seal 4 so that it fits the contour of the package 1.

[0092] According to the present embodiment and with reference to the figures 1a , 2 , And 5a , the container 2 and the closing means 3 have grooves 7 for each seal 4. Each seal 4 is intended to be received in the complementary grooves 7 and to be protected within these grooves. Indeed, the body 40 of the seal has a thickness less than or equal to the depth of the grooves 7. In this way the body 40 of the seal does not protrude outside the grooves 7.

[0093] In reference to the figures 2, 3 And 4 , the first male member 41 is formed by an elastically deformable hook.

[0094] More precisely, the first male member 41 takes the form of an arrow with a rigid central rod and two elastically deformable fins.

[0095] The two fins are elastically deformable so as to allow the insertion of the hook formed inside the first female member 21, by means of a forced folding of the fins. Once the first male member 41 is sufficiently pushed in, the elastically deformable fins deploy, tending to return to their rest position, thus anchoring the first male member 41 in the first female member 21.

[0096] When the first male member 41 is in the first female member 21, it is locked in position and can only be extracted by sliding the first male member 41 in a direction opposite to the second male member 42.

[0097] As illustrated by the figures 3 And 4, the second male member 42 takes the form of a simple, non-elastically deformable hook. This second male member 42 is intended to be inserted into the second female member 31.

[0098] Indeed, the second female organ 31 comprises: a rear hollow part into which the second male member 42 can be inserted, this rear hollow part being in the imprint of the second male member 42; a complementary front hollow part for inserting and locking the second male member 42; the second male member being capable of sliding from the rear hollow part to the front hollow part of the second female member 31.

[0099] When the second male member 42 is in the front part of the second female member 31, it is locked in position and can only be extracted by sliding towards the rear part.

[0100] In reference to the figures 5a à 5c , which illustrate a kinematics of positioning a seal 4, the second male member 42 must be inserted into the second female member 31 by first inserting the second male member 42 into the rear hollow part of the second female member 31. Then, the seal 4 and thus the second male member 42 must be slid towards the first female member 21 to pass the second male member 42 into the front hollow part of the second female member 31.

[0101] To complete the installation of the seal 4, it is sufficient to clip (or “clip”) the first male member 41 into the first female member 21 presented by the container 2.

[0102] In reference to the figure 2 , the seal 4 is held in position by means of the male members and the female members, as well as the body 40 of the seal 4 which is stretched between these members.

[0103] Following unsealing of the seal 4 and more precisely detachment of the central portion 403 of the body 40 of the seal 4, then the first part 401 of the body 40 of the seal 4 can be slid downwards, which allows the first male member 41 to be released from the cavity formed by the first female member 21, and the second part 402 of the body 40 of the seal 4 to slide backwards to allow the second male member 42 to be extracted from the cavity formed by the second female member 31.

[0104] In reference to the figure 2 and as detailed below, the seal 4 comprises a control component 5 for the integrity of the seal 4 (shown in dotted lines).

[0105] This control component 5 is integrated at least partially into the degradable part 400.

[0106] Package 1 also includes an electronic unit 6 for controlling the integrity of the seal 4.

[0107] This electronic unit 6 is housed in the cavity 20 or, more advantageously, in the thickness of a wall of the container 2, and more specifically in the thickness of the front panel 201.

[0108] The electronic unit 6 comprises means 61 for detecting degradation of the control component 5 of the seal 4.

[0109] More particularly, the control component 5 passes through the degradable part(s) 400.

[0110] In this way, when the seal is unsealed and when one of the degradable parts 400 is irreversibly degraded, then the control component 5 is also degraded.

[0111] The detection means 61 of the electronic unit 6 are thus designed to detect a degradation of this control component 5.

[0112] The electronic unit 6 also comprises means for initiating the detection means 61 when the seal 4 is positioned in its attached position.

[0113] These priming means allow, as soon as the seal 4 is placed in position on the package 1, the operation of the detection means 61 to be triggered.

[0114] In reference to the figure 2 , the control component 5 comprises an electrically conductive track 50.

[0115] This electrically conductive track 50 is a component of an electrical circuit.

[0116] According to the present embodiment and still with reference to the figure 2 , the control component 5 has at least one electrically conductive terminal 51 coupled to the electrically conductive track 50.

[0117] In this case, the priming means of the electronic unit 6 then comprise a connector 62 for each terminal 51 of the control component 5.

[0118] As illustrated by the figure 2 , then in the reported position of the seal 4, the connector(s) 62 are brought into contact with the terminal(s) 51.

[0119] The affixing of the seal 4 on the package 1 thus makes it possible to electrically couple the terminal(s) 51 presented by the seal to the connectors 62 presented by the container 2 of the package 1, to close the electrical circuit.

[0120] According to a possible embodiment not shown, the control component 5 may also comprise an electronic member for wireless communication with the electronic unit 6. Such an electronic member for wireless communication may be formed by an RFID antenna, in particular UHF (ultra high frequency) or NFC (near field communication), associated with the electrically conductive track 50.

[0121] The electronic unit 6 is then provided with a transmitter receiver sending a signal to the RFID antenna and intended to wait in return for a signal returned by the RFID antenna to check that the state of the seal is still intact. In the case where a degradable part 400 is damaged, then the electrically conductive track 50 is broken and the RFID antenna cannot return a signal. The absence of a signal return makes it possible to determine a degradation of the seal 4.

[0122] According to another conceivable embodiment, the control component may be formed by a magnetic element and the detection means 61 and the priming means of the electronic unit 6 may then be formed by a Hall effect sensor detecting the presence or absence of magnetism of the magnetic element. The absence of magnetism then corresponds to a degradation of the seal 4.

[0123] In order to prevent any fraud, i.e. the rapid replacement of the seal 4 by a magnet, the electronic unit 6 analyses the variation of the magnetic field over a given period of time.

[0124] Too long a period of absence of magnetism corresponds to a degradation of the seal 4. Also, if the sensor is under the effect of a significant magnetic source, making the sensor blind and the detection of the presence of the seal impossible, for a period greater than a threshold defined in the electronic unit 6, an alert for attempted fraud is generated.

[0125] The control component 5 may also comprise a memory incorporating a unique identifier. Such a memory allows the electronic unit 6 to determine which seal 4 is coupled to the package 1.

[0126] The electronic unit 6 is, in this case, configured to be able to recognize the unique identifier, and validate or invalidate the seal 4.

[0127] In reference to the figure 2 , the electronic unit 6 may also comprise wireless communication means 63 with a remote computer server.

[0128] In this case, the electronic unit 6 is configured to send an alert to the remote computer server via the wireless communication means 63 upon detection of degradation of the control component 5 by the detection means 61.

[0129] In reference to the figure 6 , the seal 4 can also be used when the package 1 is in its flat configuration. For this purpose, as illustrated by the figure 1a , the package 1 is provided, for each seal 4, with a second anchoring point 8 for each male member, that is to say for the first male member 41, or for the second male member 42.

[0130] This second anchoring point 8 is designed to compensate, if necessary, for a difference in length developed between the first female member 21 and the second female member 31 when the package 1 is in its flat configuration compared to its shaped configuration.

[0131] According to the present embodiment illustrated by the figures 1a And 6 , when package 1 is in its flat configuration, it has a developed length between the two female members less than the developed length when it is in its use configuration.

[0132] Consequently, the second anchoring point 8 is spaced from the second female member 31 to allow the seal 4 to also be compatible with this anchoring system.
