Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present invention relates to the field of manufacturing terrace floors consisting of a plurality of terrace boards. Prior art
[0002] Traditionally, deck boards, which can be made of natural or composite wood, are attached to a support. This is generally made of joists forming a latticework, which have been previously attached to the ground or a concrete slab.
[0003] The deck boards are laid on the joists, arranged parallel to each other along their lengths, most often in the direction of the width of the concrete slab. This creates a floor made up of parallel boards.
[0004] To fix the deck boards to the joists, it is known to use fixing devices, generally called "clips", which are fixed to the joists using screws, and which have fins which engage in grooves provided along the longitudinal edges of the boards opposite each other.
[0005] There are several types of fixing devices. One example is described in EP 3 106 585. It comprises a rotating wheel relative to a base, the wheel engaging in the groove of the deck board.
[0006] Another example is described in document FR2864568. Other examples are known from documents EP 3 660 241 A1, US 2013 / 247504 A1 and WO 2011 / 163653 A2.
[0007] We understand that the portion of the blade which is located under the groove comes to engage between the fin and the support.
[0008] It is also known that deck boards tend to expand and swell when humidity increases, particularly in autumn and winter.
[0009] The expansion of the blades also has the effect of increasing their thickness, considered in a vertical direction.
[0010] Also, depending on the season in which the deck is built, the boards will have different thicknesses. If the deck is built during a wet season, it may happen that the portion of the board located under the groove is too thick to be engaged between the fin and the support.
[0011] Furthermore, it happens that the position of the grooves varies from one blade to another, and that some grooves are higher than expected.
[0012] In this case too it may be difficult to engage the blade with the holding element.
[0013] The installer must then correct the width of the groove himself, or discard the defective blade and choose another one.
[0014] Finally, there are blade models of different thicknesses, depending on the type of wood or blade quality. Also, from one blade model to another, the position of the grooves can vary. This generally requires the installer to have several types of fixing devices with dimensions adapted to the different blade models. Statement of the invention
[0015] An object of the invention is to overcome the aforementioned drawbacks by providing a universal fixing device which can be used with blades of different thicknesses.
[0016] To do this, the invention relates to a fixing device according to claim 1 for fixing to a support at least one terrace blade having a longitudinal edge provided with a groove, the fixing device comprising: a base having an upper face, the base comprising at least one first guide member projecting perpendicularly to the upper face in a first direction, the base having a length, a width, and a height; a housing comprising at least one first cavity for receiving the first guide member such that the housing is slidably mounted relative to the base in the first direction, the housing having a length, a width, and a height; a holding element mounted on the housing and configured to be engaged at least in the groove of the deck board, the holding element projecting on either side of the housing in the longitudinal direction of the base; and a locking element configured to secure the fixing device to the support.
[0017] The support is preferably made of joists, previously fixed to the ground. The joists are generally pieces of wood forming a lattice on which the slats are mounted.
[0018] The base forms a spacer between the blades and the support, which allows ventilation under the blades, and also to evacuate rainwater.
[0019] It is understood that the housing of the fixing device according to the invention is movable relative to the base in the first direction. When the base is fixed to the support, the first direction is generally vertical.
[0020] The distance between the holding element and the base of the fixing device can therefore be modified by moving the housing relative to the base in the first direction along the guide member. Preferably, the fixing device has a minimum distance in which the housing comes into contact with the base. The maximum distance is slightly less than the height of the first guide member so that the guide member remains engaged in the housing.
[0021] Also, thanks to the invention, the spacing between the holding element and the upper face of the base can be adjusted according to the height of the groove considered from the upper face of the base, that is to say the thickness of the portion of blade located under the groove.
[0022] In practice, the installer first places the base on the support, generally a joist, then engages the box with the first guide member. The installer then places at least one blade, preferably two blades, on the base so that the holding element is inserted into the groove(s) of the blade(s). The box then positions itself in height relative to the base by sliding along the guide member.
[0023] The installer then locks the box, the base and the holding element to the support using the locking element.
[0024] The locking element exerts a force on the holding element, and consequently on the blades, directed in the first direction towards the base, so that the blades are pressed against the base. At the same time, the blades press the base against the support.
[0025] The blades are then firmly held to the support thanks to the fixing device, which has adapted to the position of the blade grooves.
[0026] Advantageously, the first guide member is parallel and distant from the locking element. In other words, the first guide member is non-coaxial with the locking element.
[0027] Advantageously, considered in the longitudinal direction of the base, the upper face of the base comprises two base portions arranged on either side of the guide member, to receive two terrace boards, at least one of the base portions comprising a recess bordered by a peripheral edge to receive one of the boards.
[0028] One advantage of the recess is to improve the drainage of rainwater between the slats and the support, and thus avoid an accumulation of water under the terrace which is likely to damage the slats and / or the support.
[0029] Preferably, the base has a base, preferably peripheral, which is fitted with pads. The notches located between two adjacent pads make it possible to further improve the evacuation of rainwater from the base.
[0030] Advantageously, the base comprises an orifice which is through and which extends in a direction parallel to the first direction, the orifice being shaped to receive the locking element when the fixing device is secured to the support.
[0031] The locking element thus passes through the base through the hole. The latter is preferably located in the middle of the base.
[0032] The base is preferably a plastic piece.
[0033] According to a preferred embodiment, the base comprises a second guide member, the first and second guide members being arranged on either side of the orifice, preferably along the width of the base.
[0034] The presence of two guide members has the effect of preventing rotation of the housing relative to the base. One advantage is that it facilitates the assembly of the fixing device.
[0035] The first and second guide members extend from a portion of the base that forms a bridge connecting the two longitudinal edges of the base.
[0036] The housing comprises at least a first cavity for receiving the first guide member. This cavity preferably opens into a lower face of the housing. It constitutes a housing for the first guide member.
[0037] Preferably, the housing comprises a second cavity for receiving the second guide member.
[0038] The first guide member preferably has the shape of a lug. More preferably, the lug is cylindrical or frustoconical. It is understood that the lug is engaged in the cavity when the housing is mounted on the base.
[0039] Preferably, the first guide member is deformable. To achieve this, the first guide member is preferably hollow. Also, the first guide member can collapse on itself in a crushing direction perpendicular to the first direction in the event, for example, of horizontal expansion of the blades.
[0040] Advantageously, the housing further comprises a hole extending along the height of the housing and which is through, the hole being shaped to receive the locking element when the fixing device is secured to the support.
[0041] The hole is therefore crossed by the locking element when the fixing device is secured to the support.
[0042] Advantageously, the hole in the housing is located in line with the hole in the base when the housing is mounted on the base.
[0043] Advantageously, the hole is arranged between the first and second cavities. The hole is located substantially in the middle of the housing, considered along its length.
[0044] The length of the housing roughly corresponds to the width of the base. The height of the housing is slightly greater than the height of the first guide member.
[0045] Advantageously, the holding element is an insert, preferably metallic, which is fixed to the housing.
[0046] The housing is preferably made of plastic. The insert is preferably overmolded with the housing.
[0047] The metal insert makes it possible to improve the robustness of the fixing device according to the invention, compared to traditional fixing devices whose holding element is made of plastic.
[0048] The insert preferably protrudes on either side of the width of the housing. The two protruding parts of the insert form fins which are intended to engage in the grooves of the blades.
[0049] Advantageously, the holding element has the shape of a plate provided with an opening, the opening being shaped to receive the locking element when the fixing device is secured to the support.
[0050] Preferably, the insert has the shape of a plate. The opening of the plate is preferably aligned with the hole in the housing.
[0051] Advantageously, the plate protrudes on either side of the longitudinal edges of the case.
[0052] It is understood that the locking element is successively engaged in the opening of the plate, the hole in the housing and the orifice in the base before being introduced into the support.
[0053] Preferably, the housing hole and the opening in the wafer are coaxial, the housing hole being radially recessed relative to the opening, whereby the locking element bears against the wafer when the fixing device is secured to the support.
[0054] The locking element preferably comprises an elongated body, for example a threaded rod, ending in a head.
[0055] The head of the locking element is shaped to bear against the plate, preferably against the metal insert, when the fixing device is fixed to the support.
[0056] The locking element, which is preferably metallic, exerts a force on the metal insert and not on the plastic casing, which has the advantage of not damaging the plastic of the casing in the event of strong tightening of the locking element.
[0057] Preferably, the plate has a lateral edge provided with claws configured to rest in a wall of the groove of the blade.
[0058] More specifically, the claws are angled toward a lower face of the case. In other words, the claws are angled toward the base, preferably at an angle of about 30°-45° relative to the plane of the wafer.
[0059] Thanks to this conformation, the claws are planted in the lower wall of the groove when fixing the fixing device. This lower wall extends in a plane parallel to the upper face of the base. These claws have the function of reducing the play of the blades in a horizontal plane. They also allow for improved plating of the blades against the base.
[0060] Advantageously, the plate has an inclined lateral edge.
[0061] The lateral edge is inclined relative to the plate plane or has a bead. It is preferably opposite the claws.
[0062] The inclined side edge is adapted to come into contact with a bottom wall of the groove of the blade in which it is engaged, in particular during expansion of the blade in a horizontal plane.
[0063] The direction of inclination of the side edge is opposite to that of the claws.
[0064] Advantageously, the locking element comprises a screw, which comprises a screw head, and the screw head bears against the holding element when the fixing device is secured to the support.
[0065] The screw has a threaded body ending in the screw head. At the opposite end of the screw head is a self-drilling tip.
[0066] The screw head therefore exerts a thrust on the holding element, and preferably on the metal insert, directed towards the base when the fixing device is secured to the support.
[0067] Advantageously, the orifice of the base, the hole of the housing and the opening of the holding element are aligned and shaped to be crossed by the locking element when the fixing device is secured to the support.
[0068] According to an advantageous aspect of the invention, the housing comprises cells so that it can be crushed on itself in the longitudinal direction of the base.
[0069] In the event of expansion of the blades in a horizontal plane, i.e. along the width of the blades, the longitudinal edges of two adjacent blades move towards each other. The housing, and preferably the first guide member, deform by slightly crushing so as to absorb the expansion of the blades, which prevents the blades from twisting or becoming damaged in the event of expansion. The deformability of the housing and the first guide member is configured to allow the blades to come almost into contact with the locking element.
[0070] The invention further relates to an installation comprising a support, first and second terrace boards and at least one fixing device according to the invention, in which each of the first and second boards has a groove formed along at least one of its longitudinal edges, the grooves of the first and second boards being arranged opposite each other on either side of the housing of the fixing device, the first and second boards being placed on the base and the base of the fixing device being secured to the support, while the holding element of the fixing device is engaged in the grooves, the locking element being introduced into the holding element, into the housing and into the base while being tightened so as to exert a force on the holding element directed towards the support so as to press the first and second boards against the base, and press the base against the support. Detailed description
[0072] On the Figure 1 , an embodiment of a fixing device is illustrated 10 to fix to a support S a first terrace blade 100 and a second terrace blade 200. As is well known, the first deck board 100 has a longitudinal edge 102 in which a groove is provided 104which extends along the longitudinal direction of the first deck board. The second deck board 200 has a longitudinal edge 202 in which a groove is provided 204 which extends in the longitudinal direction of the first deck board. The first and second deck boards 100,200 are parallel to each other in their longitudinal directions and each cooperates with the fixing device 10.
[0073] In this example, the support S is made of a lattice of joists 2.
[0074] The fixing device 10 has a base 12 having an upper face 14 and a lower face 16.
[0075] With the help of the figures 11 to 14 , we understand that the upper face 14 is intended to carry the terrace blades 100, 200, while the underside 16of the base 12 is pressed against the joist 2.
[0076] The base 12 also includes a first guide member 18 and a second guide member 20 which protrude perpendicularly from the upper face 14 according to a first direction D1.
[0077] In this example, the base 12 is made of a plastic material.
[0078] Referring to the figures 2 to 4 , we note that the base includes a base fitted with notches 24 defined between skates 26. We understand with the help of figures 11 to 14 that when the base 12 is placed on the joist 2, the skates 26 come to rest against the upper surface of the joist 2. The notches 24 provide ventilation under the slats 100, 200, and also drain rainwater.
[0079] According to an advantageous aspect of the invention, the first and second guide members 18, 20 have the shape of hollow lugs. The first and second guide members 18, 20 have recesses for this purpose 18a And 20a, visible on the Figure 3 , which allow the first and second guide members 18, 20 to be able to collapse radially, in particular to absorb horizontal expansion of the blades.
[0080] Moreover, as seen on the figures 1 And 2 , considered in the longitudinal direction DL of the base 12, the upper face 14 of the base 12 has two base portions 12a, 12b which are arranged on either side of the first and second guide members 10, 20, to receive the two terrace blades 100, 200.
[0081] In this example, each of the two base portions 12a, 12b has recesses 12 c , 12 d which are bordered by a peripheral edge 15 of the base 12. We understand that the blades 100, 200 rest on this peripheral edge 15.
[0082] The recesses 12 c, 12 d contribute to good ventilation under the blades 100, 200, and rainwater drainage.
[0083] We therefore understand that the recesses 12 this 12d, associated with the notches 24, ensure very good ventilation under the slats 100, 200 and facilitate the evacuation of rainwater.
[0084] Furthermore, the base 12 has an orifice 40 which crosses the thickness of the base 12. As can be seen on the Figure 2 , the orifice 40is arranged between the first and second guide members 18, 20.
[0085] The orifice 40 is therefore crossing and extends in a direction D 2 which is parallel to the first direction D1. This direction D 2 is vertical when the base is placed on the joist 2. We also note on the Figure 2 that the centers of the first and second guide members 18, 20 and the center of the hole 40 are aligned in a direction parallel to the transverse direction of the base 12.
[0086] More precisely, the orifice 40 is arranged in a part forming a bridge connecting the two longitudinal edges 15 has , 15 b of the peripheral edge 15 of the base.
[0087] Referring again to the Figure 1 , we note that the fixing device 10 further includes a housing50, in this example, made of plastic, which constitutes a separate part from the base.
[0088] The case 50 is illustrated in more detail on the figures 5 to 8 . As illustrated in Figures 6 and 7 , the case 50 has a first cavity 52 to receive the first guide member 18, and a second cavity 54 to receive the second guide member 20 when the case 50 is mounted on the base 12.
[0089] With the help of the figures 11 to 14 , we understand that the case 5 cooperates with the first and second guide members 18, 20 so that the case 50 is mounted sliding relative to the base 12 according to the first direction D1.
[0090] The case 50 also has alveoli 56 which, considered according to length xof the case 50, are arranged between the first and second cavities 52, 54. The alveoli 56 allow the case 50 to be crushed on itself according to its width y, especially during horizontal expansion of the blades.
[0091] When the case 50 is mounted on the base 12, we understand that the longitudinal direction Dx of the case 50 is parallel to the transverse direction DT of the base 12.
[0092] The case 50 also has a hole 60 which extends according to the height z of the case 50 and which is transverse. Considered in the longitudinal direction Dx of the case 50, the hole 60 is located approximately in the middle of the case 50, between the first and second cavities.
[0093] The case 50further includes an upper wall 58 into which the orifice opens 60.
[0094] The case 50 further includes a slot 64, visible in Figure 7 , which is located under the upper wall 62 and which opens laterally on either side of the width y of the housing 50.
[0095] This slit extends along almost the entire length x of the case, and over its entire width y.
[0096] The fixing device 10, as illustrated in Figure 1 , further includes a holding device 70 which is mounted on the case 50 and, as illustrated in figures 11 to 14 , is configured to be engaged in the grooves 104, 204 terrace blades 100, 200. We note on the Figure 1 , that the holding element 70protrudes on either side of the width of the case.
[0097] The holding element 70 is an insert 72, metallic in this example, which is integral with the housing 50. More precisely, the insert 72 has the shape of a platelet 74 which is arranged in the slot 64 of the case 50.
[0098] The brochure 74 therefore includes a first portion 74 protrudes from the housing 50 and forming a first fin. The plate 74 further includes a second portion 74 b protruding from the housing 50 and forming a second fin opposite the first fin. The insert 72 is illustrated in more detail in figures 9 and 10 . The plate protrudes on either side of the longitudinal edges of the case.
[0099] The brochure 74 has an opening 76which is through depending on the thickness of the plate 74.
[0100] In this example, the case 50 is made of plastic and is overmolded with the plate 74 metallic. The hole 60 of the case 50 and the opening 76 of the plate 74 are coaxial. In this example, the hole 60 of the case 50 is radially set back from the opening 76 of the plate 74. To do this, the diameter of the hole 60 of the case 50 is larger than the diameter of the opening 76.
[0101] As illustrated in figure 9 , the plate 74 is equipped with claws 75 which extend from a side edge 74 c of the plate. These claws are configured to rest in a wall of the blade groove.
[0102] Precisely, the claws 75are configured to rest on a lower wall 102a of the groove 104 of the first blade 100. The brochure 74 also has a side edge 74d opposite the side edge 74c , this side edge 74 having a fold or bulge 77. As understood with the help of the figures 11 to 14 , the bead 77 is configured to rest against a lower wall 204 has groove 204 of the second blade 200.
[0103] The fixing device 10 further includes a locking element 80 which is configured to secure the fixing device and the blades to the support. In this example, the locking element 80 is a screw that has a threaded rod 82 having a first end 82 equipped with a head 84, and a second longitudinal end82 b equipped with a self-piercing tip 86.
[0104] We understand, with the help of figures 11 to 14 , that the orifice 40 is shaped to receive the locking element 80 when the fixing device 10 is secured to the support. The hole 60 is shaped to receive the locking element 80 when the fixing device 10 is secured to the support. Finally, the opening 76 is shaped to receive the locking element 80 when the fixing device is secured to the support. In this example, the screw head 84 of the locking element comes to bear against the holding element 70 when the fixing device is secured to the support. It is also understood that the orifice 40 of the base 12, the hole 60 of the case 50 and the opening 76of the holding element are aligned and shaped to be crossed by the locking element 80 when the fixing device is secured to the support.
[0105] As the housing hole is radially recessed relative to the opening 76 of the plate 74, we understand that the head 84 of the screw 82 comes directly into contact with the metal insert 72 when the fixing device is secured to the support.
[0106] On the Figures 11 and 12 , a first embodiment of an installation has been illustrated 500 in accordance with the invention. This installation 500 includes a support made of a joist 2, first and second deck boards 100, 200 having a thickness e 1 . As explained above, the groove 104 of the first blade 100 has a lower wall 104a, while the groove 204 has a lower wall 204 a. The lower walls 104 has, 204 a are parallel to the upper face of the base 12.
[0107] The installation 500 further includes a fixing device 10 according to the invention, namely that of the Figure 1 . The grooves 104, 204 first and second blades 100,200 are arranged opposite each other on either side of the housing 50 of the fixing device 10. The base 12 of the fixing device 10 is placed on the support 2, while the holding element 70 of the fixing device 10 is engaged in the grooves 102, 202. The locking element 80 is successively engaged in the holding element 70, in the case 50so as to flatten the first and second blades 100, 200 and the base 12 against the support 2.
[0108] On the Figure 15 , the behavior of the fixing device has been illustrated 10 according to the invention in a situation in which the blades 100 And 200 expand, for example due to an increase in air humidity which causes the blades to swell.
[0109] As illustrated in figures 12 And 15 , This expansion has the effect that the longitudinal edges 102,202 first and second blades 100,200 move closer to each other. In practice, this movement is of the order of a few millimeters.
[0110] As stated above, the case 50 and spurs 18,20 of the base 12 are deformable. More precisely, they can be slightly crushed on themselves in a horizontal plane.
[0111] In the event of significant expansion of the blades, the longitudinal edges of the blades pinch the housing. Thanks to the deformability of the housing, and preferably the lugs which are then engaged in the housing, the housing and the lugs deform slightly by crushing under the action of the pinching. This has the effect of taking up, over a few millimeters, the horizontal expansion of the blades and thus preventing the blades from twisting or disengaging from the fixing device. When the humidity decreases, the blades contract and move slightly away from each other. The housing and the lugs then return to their initial shape.
[0112] The terraces made using fixing devices according to the invention therefore have better resilience and durability than those made with traditional fixing clips.
