Abstract
Description
[0001] The invention relates to a threshold with an additional device for reducing the barrier effect of the threshold, wherein the threshold comprises a horizontally running cover profile on the inside of the building and a threshold weatherboard inclined and / or sloping towards the outside of the building on the outside. Technical area
[0002] For both public buildings and barrier-free apartments, relevant standards require that lower door stops and threshold steps either be avoided entirely or, if unavoidable, that threshold steps be no more than 2 cm. At the same time, they require that moisture penetration in the threshold area be reliably prevented, even in heavy driving rain. Currently, a step of up to 2 cm is considered technically unavoidable if driving rain is expected. Constructions with no or even lower steps—so-called zero thresholds—are therefore generally special designs that require considerable additional effort. State of the art
[0003] WO 2015 / 011092 A1 discloses a typical threshold system that already meets the requirement for a step less than 2 cm high. The threshold used here essentially consists of three components: a plastic extruded base body, a cover profile locked to it, which simultaneously forms the stop edge for the inner stop seal of the inward-opening door leaf on the inside of the room, and a threshold weatherstrip made of extruded aluminum that slopes outwards and features a vortex channel on the inside of the room. The vortex channel is necessary to allow rainwater, which is forced up the threshold weatherstrip during driving rain, to drain away laterally. Due to the system, however, this vortex channel also forms a step and thus represents a certain barrier.
[0004] A similar threshold construction is known from EP 1 932 997 A2, in which, however, instead of a vortex channel, a partially covered step between the outwardly sloping threshold weather leg and the inside cover is intended to ensure the necessary driving rain tightness.
[0005] DE 20 2012 001 124 U1 discloses a barrier-free threshold construction that meets the requirements for a zero-threshold. This construction comprises a large-volume supplementary element on the outside of the building in front of the actual threshold, running parallel to the longitudinal extent of the threshold. This element forms a rainwater collection channel that allows rainwater to be drained parallel to the longitudinal extent of the threshold. At the top, or towards floor level, this rainwater collection channel is covered by a grating to allow rainwater to pass into the rainwater collection channel. Such a construction is obviously very complex and can only be used to a limited extent in conjunction with conventional thresholds. Furthermore, the water drainage effect is limited, as rainwater that hits the area between the grating and the door is only partially drained away, thus limiting the construction's resistance to driving rain.
[0006] FR 3 003 595 A1 discloses a threshold construction for disabled access to a building, in which a sloping concrete base body is covered with a flat grating. FR 3 003 595 A1 discloses all the features of the preamble of claim 1. Such constructions are very complex to manufacture and very limited in use, since a custom threshold must be manufactured for each door width. Conventional thresholds made of extruded aluminum and / or extruded plastic are not suitable for this construction. Task
[0007] The object of the present invention is therefore to provide a threshold or a door with a threshold which meets higher requirements both in terms of driving rain tightness and accessibility and yet is associated with limited effort in production and application. Description of the invention
[0008] The invention solves this problem by a conventional threshold known per se with an additional device for reducing the barrier effect according to claim 1, preferably in conjunction with one or more of the features of claims 2 and 3, or by a door according to claim 4, preferably with one or more of the features of claims 5 and 6.
[0009] The invention is therefore based on a commercially available threshold, as is known, for example, from WO 2015 / 011092 A1 or EP 1 932 997 A2, in which a horizontally running cover profile is used on the inside of the building and a threshold weather profile that is inclined and / or sloping towards the outside of the building is used on the outside of the building, wherein a step, in particular a vortex channel, is formed between the threshold weather profile and the cover profile.
[0010] This base threshold is available by the meter and can be cut to the desired length if required.
[0011] The additional device used according to the invention comprises a sill grating and means for fastening the sill grating at a distance above the sill weatherboard, so that the sill grating, in the installed state, runs with its upper side at least largely in the plane of the horizontally extending cover profile of the installed sill, and a water drainage channel is formed between the sill grating and the sill weatherboard. The additional device used according to the invention further comprises an outer cover profile running on the outside of the building in the longitudinal extension of the sill, which, in the installed state, runs at least largely with its surface in the same plane as the cover profile on the inside of the building and the sill grating.
[0012] Since the threshold grid used runs on the same level as the top of the standard threshold used, an absolutely barrier-free, so-called zero threshold is possible.
[0013] The cover profile of the installed threshold does not necessarily have to be a separate component; rather, it can also be integrally connected to the threshold base body and / or the threshold weatherboard. The only essential aspect of the invention is that this area of the installed threshold defines a plane that is continued toward the exterior of the building by the threshold grating used according to the invention and the adjoining outer cover profile.
[0014] Since the threshold grating – viewed vertically – runs above the threshold weatherstrip of the installed threshold, it is at least partially covered by the door leaf or a weatherstrip typically placed on the outside of the door in the lower horizontal area when the door leaf is closed, so that a large portion of the impacting rain is already diverted into the drainage channel in the outer area of the threshold grating. The part of the threshold grating facing the inside of the building serves to catch any remaining water before it reaches the – possibly further – sealing area between the door leaf and the threshold.
[0015] According to the invention, several bearing adapters arranged at a distance from one another along the longitudinal extension of the threshold are used as a means for securing the threshold grating above the threshold weatherboard, so that drainage slots are formed between each pair of bearing adapters leading from the water drainage channel to the building exterior. In this preferred embodiment of the invention, the rainwater collected in the water drainage channel thus does not flow in the direction of the threshold's extension, but rather transversely thereto, from the building's interior to the building's exterior.
[0016] The bearing adapters advantageously feature a shape on their underside that allows for easy attachment to the outside edge of the threshold's weatherboard, and a support surface on their upper side for the threshold grating. Therefore, for various commercially available thresholds, only a standardized threshold grating, if required, and a bearing adapter adapted to each threshold are required.
[0017] It is particularly advantageous if the additional device according to the invention is used together with a door leaf that has at least one, preferably several, seals on its underside extending in the longitudinal direction of the threshold, of which at least one seal rests on the threshold grating used according to the invention when the door is closed and divides it into a partial area on the inside of the building and a partial area on the outside of the building. The seals used can - as is generally known from the prior art - be, for example, brush seals, hose seals, or lowerable seals, for example, magnetically actuated seals, or a combination of such seals with one another and / or with, for example, an additional internal stop seal. If, as explained above, at least one of the seals used rests on the sill grating – especially in its central area – this reliably ensures that, even under very heavy driving rain exposure, the vast majority of the driving rain in the area of the sill grating facing the building's exterior is channeled into the underlying drainage channel, and only water that overcomes the barrier formed by the external seal needs to be diverted into the underlying drainage channel in the area of the sill grating facing the building's interior. This achieves outstanding driving rain tightness.
[0018] According to a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, two seals provided on the underside of the inserted door leaf, running parallel to one another in the longitudinal direction, rest on the sill grate, wherein, when the door is closed, a series of openings is provided in the sill grate between the two seals lying on top, so that water penetrating into this area is diverted into the water drainage channel below.
[0019] Preferably, the threshold grate used according to the invention - unless it is additionally screwed - can be lifted when the door is open and the water drainage channel underneath can be easily cleaned.
[0020] According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the sill grating used according to the invention has a short, angled leg on its longitudinal edge facing the inside of the building, with which the sill grating rests directly on the sill weatherboard. The sill grating is preferably made of metal, in particular aluminum or particularly preferably stainless steel, whereby the perforations, in particular in the form of two or more rows of elongated holes running transversely to the longitudinal extension, can be created by punching.
[0021] Even if an inward-opening door is used in the following embodiment of the invention, the present invention is by no means limited to inward-opening doors, but can also be used for outward-opening doors. Short description of the drawing
[0022] The invention is explained in more detail below using an exemplary embodiment and the drawings. In the drawings: Fig. 1 shows a cross-section through a conventional threshold with an additional device according to the invention; Fig. 2 shows a partially sectioned external view of the door frame during assembly of the bearing adapters and the outer cover profile; Fig. 3 shows a door according to the invention from the outside in the closed state; Fig. 4 shows a closed door according to Fig. 3 in cross-section; Fig. 5 a partially sectioned external view of the door frame during installation of the threshold grate; Fig. 6 a partially sectioned external view of the door frame with the threshold grate in place; Fig. 7 a cross-section through the threshold with an indication of the water guide. Best way of carrying out the invention
[0023] In the embodiment of the invention described in more detail below, a commercially available thermally insulated standard threshold 1 known from WO 2015 / 011092 A1 is used, consisting of a base body 2 extruded from plastic, a cover profile 3 also extruded from plastic, also called threshold cover, and a threshold weatherboard 4 made of extruded aluminum, which slopes diagonally towards the building exterior 13. On the building interior side (in Fig. 1 On the left side, the threshold weatherboard 4 has a swirl channel 18 as a step 23, which would represent a certain barrier without the additional device according to the invention. A floor entry profile 8 can be seen below the standard threshold 1 ( Fig. 2 ), which rests on the actual building structure, for example a concrete slab.
[0024] The additional device according to the invention according to the illustrated embodiment initially comprises several bearing adapters 5, which - as in Fig. 2 shown - at a distance of approximately 50-100 mm from each other on the outside edge of the threshold weatherboard 4 using screws 9. Between each two of these bearing adapters 5, rainwater that has penetrated into the water drainage channel 19 can flow off in the direction of the arrows 20. The water flow is Fig. 7 clarified again.
[0025] On the outside of the building, the outer cover profile 6, which extends over the entire length of the threshold weatherboard 4, is snapped onto the bearing adapters 5. The upper side of this outer cover profile 6 runs in the same plane "E" ( Fig. 4) like the upper side of the cover profile 3 on the building interior side 14 of the thermally broken standard threshold 1. Both the outer cover profile 6 and the inner cover profile 3 have a grooved structure to increase slip resistance.
[0026] As in Figs. 5 and 6 As shown, the sill grating 7 is placed on the weatherboard 11 and on the outside of the building on the bearing adapters 5. For this purpose, the sill grating has a bevel on the inside of the building (see Fig. 4 in section), so that the threshold grid also runs flush with its upper side in the same plane "E" formed by the upper sides of the inner cover profile 3 and the outer cover profile 6 ( Fig. 4 ).
[0027] In particular, based on the cross-sectional representation in Fig. 1 it becomes clear that the space formed between the sill grating 7 and the sill weatherboard 4, which is inclined outwards, forms a water drainage channel 19.
[0028] In the illustrated embodiment, the sill grating 7 is made of stainless steel and has two rows of openings 22 designed as elongated holes. Between the two rows of openings 22, a narrow web is formed running in the longitudinal direction of the sill extension, on which the hose seals 21, which also run over the entire extension of the sill 1, rest when the door is closed. This divides the sill grating 7 into an area on the inside of the building and an area on the outside of the building, so that rainwater, which is pressed onto the sill construction from the outside 13 of the building, for example by gusty wind, is for the most part already drained in the area of the row of openings 22 on the outside of the building into the water drainage channel 19 extending between the sill grating 7 and the sill weatherboard 4.As long as a few drops of rainwater still overcome the outer hose seal 21, they are reliably drained into the second row of openings 22 on the inside of the building in this water drainage channel 19.
[0029] In addition, another hose seal is used in the transition area between the threshold weatherstrip 4 and the cover profile 3, as well as an inner stop seal 12 on the inside of the room (see Fig. 4 ). The sealing is achieved laterally by a known wind stop seal 16 ( Figs. 5 and 6 ) completed.
[0030] As in Fig. 4As shown, in the illustrated embodiment, the floor level 17 on the building's exterior side 13 and the building's interior side 14 runs approximately on the same plane "E" formed by the inner cover profile 3, the outer cover profile 6, and the threshold grating 7. If an inner stop seal 12 is omitted, an absolutely level installation can also be achieved.
[0031] As in Fig. 3 and 4 As shown, a weather leg 11 is provided on the outside of the lower horizontal beam of the door leaf 10, which largely covers the sill grate 7 when the door is closed, so that leaves and snow cannot easily block the openings 22 of the sill grate 7.
[0032] The proposed combination of standard threshold 1 and the additional device allows for the production of a so-called zero threshold with excellent watertightness. Since threshold 1 can also be used as a standard threshold without the additional device, manufacturing and storage costs are significantly reduced. legend
