Abstract
Description
Technical Field
[0001] The present invention relates to a combination of a protective element and at least one mini riser sleeve.Prior Art
[0002] Nowadays, moulds, also known as feeder sleeves, are utilised in casting industry to perform casting process on metals. Said moulds include sand and various chemicals. The feeder sleeves are exothermic feeding auxiliary materials which are produced at various shapes and sizes by a preforming method, wherein the feeder sleeves are produced from a pre-prepared chemical mixture according to the desired exothermal degree.
[0003] With the developing technology, innovations are made for the casting production method, as well. Thanks to the high-pressure automatic moulding lines that are suited to serial production, quality castings are obtained in a quicker way. Consumables which are used at automatic moulding lines should inevitably keep up with this development. Therefore, rendering the use of a feeder at automatic moulding lines practical affects the production rate positively. A mini riser system, both functioning fully as a feeder and being capable of resisting to mechanical effects at the automatic moulding lines, improves the casting production rate and quality. The feeder sleeve having a brittle structure is prevented from being damaged by the loads applied at high-pressure automatic moulding lines, thanks to the mini riser fixers. Said fixers enable to fix the sand at a certain area inside the mould.
[0004] Patent document no. WO2017007433A1 discloses an exemplary mini riser system which comprises mini riser fixers. The feeding system disclosed in said document comprises a feeder sleeve, a neck piece functioning as a fixer, and a conical piece. With the effect of force applied during the moulding process, said neck piece moves at the vertical axis so as to be driven to the cavity provided within the feeder sleeve. However, the patent document no. WO2017007433A1 does not mention about a characteristic of the neck piece and the conical piece that enables them to resist to the applied force. Moreover, said document does not comprise a further protective element between the feeder sleeve and the surface to which the sleeve is fixed in order to provide to protect the feeder sleeve.
[0005] GB 2 260 285 A and EP 1 567 294 A1 describe examples of feeder assemblies.Brief Description of Invention

[0009] Another object of the present invention is to develop a protective element which provides to enhance endurance of the feeding element at the position in which it is fixed.Description of Drawings
[0010] Exemplary embodiments of the protective element for a feeder sleeve according to the present invention are illustrated in the drawings, in which: Figure 1; is a side sectional view of a feeder sleeve which is used together with the protective element according to the present invention. Figure 2; is a side sectional view of the protective element according to the present invention. Figure 3; is a perspective view of the protective element according to the present invention. Figure 4; is a side sectional view of the protective element in use with a feeder sleeve.
[0011] All the parts illustrated in figures are individually assigned a reference numeral and the corresponding terms of these numbers are listed below: Protective element(E)Feeder sleeve(1)Cavity(1a)Outer wall(1b)Base(1c)Opening(1d)Bottom wall(3)Aperture(3a)Side wall(4) Description of Invention
[0012] In order to provide a quick and quality casting production at the high-pressure automatic moulding lines utilised for mass production of the castings, it is appropriate to use mini riser systems in certain areas on the mould model. For the moulding process, on the purpose of enhancing the casting production rate and quality, it is important to use a mini riser system which fully functions as a feeder and is able to resist to the mechanical effects on the automatic moulding line. Within this context, with the present invention there is developed a protective element which prevents the brittle feeder sleeve at the mini riser system from being damaged by the load to which it is subjected during the moulding process. The invention is defined in the appended claims.
[0013] The protective element (E) according to the present invention, exemplary view of which is illustrated in Figures 2-4, is suitable for use with at least one mini riser sleeve (1) an exemplary view of which is illustrated in Figure 1 and which comprises a linear cavity (1a) through which a fluid material can be passed for the feeding process, at least one outer wall (1b), at least one base (1c), and at least one opening (1d) located at the base (1c) and providing the cavity (1a) to communicate with the outer environment. Said protective element (E) comprises at least one bottom wall (3) suitable for receiving the base (1c) of the mini riser sleeve (1) and being made of a more flexible material (e.g. the ceramic fibre) than the mini riser sleeve (1); at least one side wall (4) suitable for receiving the outer wall (1b) of the mini riser sleeve (1) and being made of a more flexible material (e.g. the ceramic fibre) than the mini riser sleeve (1); at least one aperture (3a) located at said bottom wall (3) and allowing a fluid passage between the opening (1d) and the outer environment.
[0014] In an exemplary embodiment of the invention, the mini riser sleeve (1) is placed inside said protective element (E). Then, the mini riser sleeve (1) and the protective element (E) are positioned together inside the mould. During compressing the mould, a compression force is created on the mini riser sleeve (1) and the protective element (E). Here, since the bottom wall (3) and the side wall (4) of the protective element (E) are made of a more flexible material than the mini riser sleeve (1), said compression force is absorbed by said protective element (E) by means of forming a friction force between the outer wall (1b) of the feeder sleeve and the side wall (4) of the protective element (E). By this way, the mini riser sleeve (1) is prevented from being damaged by said compression force. Here, by means of said aperture (3a), the metal in the fluid form during usage of the mini riser sleeve (1) is enabled to be filled to the cavity (1a) through said opening (1d) and be removed again when necessary.
[0015] In a preferred embodiment of the invention, porosity of said protective element (E) is higher than that of said feeder sleeve (1). Thus, the protective element (E) is able to stretch under the compression force.
[0016] In a further preferred embodiment of the invention, said protective element (E) is produced by vacuum forming production method. Therefore, the production process is able to be performed in a simple and practical way.
[0017] Thanks to the protective element (E) according to the invention, moulding rate and quality of the feeder sleeve (1) are increased by applying it directly on the mould model at the foundries in which high-pressure moulding lines are utilised; and due to the flexible structure of the protective element (E) which is made of a more flexible material than the mini riser sleeve (1), the mini riser sleeve (1) is prevent from being damaged by the compression effect applied thereon during the moulding process.
