Description

[0001] The invention relates to a folding system with folding panels guided at the top and bottom in guide rails according to the preamble of claim 1. To open, the panels of the folding system can be slid along the guide rails and / or pivoted out of them. In the closed position, a locking mechanism is required. For this purpose, a locking fitting is incorporated in the frame profile of at least one of the folding panels. A locking mechanism allows locking pins to be moved, usually at the top and bottom, into the guide rail, or out of it when the system is to be reopened.

[0002] To provide improved security, EP 2 275 632 B1 already proposes a locking mechanism in which the adjacent frame profile of the sash adjoining the folding sash to be locked also has a bolt that can be simultaneously actuated via a catch on the locking fitting. While this design offers increased burglary protection, it is relatively complicated.

[0003] US 2017 / 0 058 578 A1 discloses a double-bolt lock for a folding door. Using a handle, bolts can be moved up or down to engage rails.

[0004] US 2019 / 0 119 964 A1 discloses a locking system for doors or windows. Using a handle, bolts can be moved up or down to engage grooves.

[0005] The invention is therefore based on the object of creating a folding system with a secure locking mechanism that is structurally simple and robust. This object is achieved by a folding system having the features of claim 1.

[0006] By providing at least one locking pin acting as a reinforcement pin in the frame profile of the same folding sash in which the locking pin is located, the two pins can be moved parallel but firmly connected, so that the reinforcement pin can move with the locking pin. There is no need for coupling across the movable gap between two sashes. Both pins can still only be locked using a locking gear. However, thanks to the additional reinforcement pin, the locking forces are applied at several points (locking pin and reinforcement pin), thereby at least halving the load or force on the individual pin. In the event of burglary attempts or pending wind loads, the force introduced into the guide rail is better distributed, reducing the risk of the guide rail or pins bending. If adjacent folding sashes are connected via hinges, the improved locking effect also extends to the folding sash adjacent to the locking device. However, the locking mechanism according to the invention can also be used on the wall side or with folding sashes that are not firmly connected to an adjacent sash, in particular not via hinges.

[0007] In addition to providing protection against break-ins, the secure closure of folding systems under high wind loads is particularly advantageous. For this purpose, it is advantageous to incorporate the reinforcement pin into a supplementary reinforcement profile of the frame profile, which increases the stability of the folding sash against bending. With appropriate design, deflection of the folding sash under wind load can be reduced to such an extent that there is no longer any risk of locking and reinforcement pins popping out of the guide rails. A supplementary reinforcement profile, particularly one that is detachably attached to the existing frame profile piece, can be easily retrofitted or only provided when necessary. However, it is also possible to form the reinforcement profile as a single piece with the profile piece that accommodates the locking pins.

[0008] Stability can also be improved if the frame profile has a vertically running, sword-like projection that counteracts deflection. The projection preferably has a strip-like or sword-like shape with a height that preferably takes up a predominant part of the height of the vertical frame profile. The width of the projection, in contrast, is rather small, and its depth, i.e. its extension perpendicular to the folding sash plane, is preferably greater than its width. The projection can be formed integrally with the frame profile or connected to it. If this projection is provided on the reinforcing profile, the number of components required for different embodiments can still be kept small, since the required stability can be adjusted on a case-by-case basis by selecting a suitable reinforcing profile, with or without a projection.

[0009] In a structurally simple manner, without having to modify the design of the locking mechanism, the reinforcement pin can be connected to the locking pin via an adapter piece. For subsequent installation, it may be advantageous if the adapter piece has a mounting recess that allows access with tools to establish the connection. The adapter piece can be essentially C- or U-shaped for this purpose.

[0010] Furthermore, the adapter piece can be used structurally to guide the movement of the reinforcement pin. It is advantageous for the adapter piece to have a guide surface that rests vertically against a counter-guide surface of the reinforcement profile. A corresponding design is also possible on the opposite side of the profile piece.

[0011] The C- or U-shaped adapter piece preferably has at least two essentially horizontal legs that are connected by at least one essentially vertical leg. Coupling regions are formed in the essentially horizontal legs, onto which force transmission elements, in particular locking bars, engage for transmitting force to the pins. Between the essentially horizontal legs there is a mounting recess whose free height in the vertical direction is preferably greater than the height in the vertical direction of the essentially horizontal legs, in particular even greater than the sum of the heights of the essentially vertical legs. This design facilitates the assembly and maintenance of the folding system. Specifically, the free height of the mounting recess should correspond at least to the length of the connecting elements to be used, e.g. screws, including the screw heads that pass through the coupling regions.

[0012] The coupling areas of the adapter piece are at least partially formed as recesses or partially even as through-bores and can extend from below / above, preferably parallel, through the adapter piece. At least one of the two recesses is designed as a through-bore, in particular through a first of the essentially horizontal legs. The other recess in this leg can be a blind hole. When the folding system is assembled, each of the two recesses can accommodate a locking rod. One of the locking rods is connected to the locking pin, the other of the locking rods to the reinforcing pin. A third recess is preferably designed as a through-bore through a second of the essentially horizontal legs. When the folding system is assembled, this hole can accommodate a push rod for introducing force.Particularly preferably, an adapter piece designed in this way is arranged on both sides of the locking gear.

[0013] The transfer of locking forces to the guide rails is particularly secure but also gentle on the material when the locking pins and reinforcement pins are spaced apart from each other with respect to their contact points with the guide rail. The spacing can be approximately equal to the diameter of the pins. It is advantageous if the spacing is at least as large as the load-bearing penetration depth of the pins into the guide rail.

[0014] Further advantages and details emerge from the subclaims and embodiments of the invention shown in the drawings, which are described below; they show: Fig. 1the connecting area of two folding wings in locked position in front view, Fig. 2the object from Fig. 1 in perspective view and exploded view with partially spaced components, Fig. 3 the object from Fig. 1 making the locking components visible, Fig. 4 the object from Fig. 3 in unlocked position, Fig. 5 a section in direction VV through the object Fig. 1 and Fig. 6 an alternative embodiment in a representation according to Fig. 5 .

[0015] In Fig. 1 The lower section of two interconnected folding sashes 1 is shown in the closed, functional position of the locking mechanism. Above this, at the top left, is a small pictogram-like representation of an exemplary folding system to illustrate its function. The folding sashes 1 shown each have glass panes 2 held in frame profiles 3, 4. The folding sash 1 on the right in the illustration has a locking mechanism that can be operated via a handle 5. This allows a locking pin 6 and a reinforcing pin 7 to be moved into the guide rail 8, thereby preventing the sash from pivoting. The locking pin 6 is guided in a profile piece 4' of the frame profile 4, while the reinforcing pin 7 is received in a reinforcing profile 4" of the frame profile 4.

[0016] The Fig. 2 bis 5 illustrate the function and the individual components of the construction according to the invention. Fig. 3 and 4 With the handle omitted, the frame profiles 3, 4 and the guide rail 8 are shown transparently (dash-dotted), allowing a view of an internal locking gear 9 with adjoining components. The locking gear 9 acts via push rods 10 and adjoining adapter pieces 11 on locking bars 12 connected to these, at the ends of which are locking pins 6 and reinforcing pins 7. In this embodiment, the upper locking bars 12 also carry pins 6, 7, which, however, cannot be seen here due to the cut-off illustration above. Of course, the locking bars 12 can also form the pins 6, 7 themselves with their ends and / or merge integrally with them.

[0017] In the Fig. 2 and 3the locking mechanism is shown in its closed functional position, with the pins 6,7 engaging in the guide rail 8 and thus locking the folding wings. Fig. 4 , however, shows the locking mechanism in its open position. For this purpose, the handle 5 (not shown there) was pivoted upwards by 180° and the adapter pieces 11 with the connected locking bars 12 and the pins 6, 7 were moved towards the locking gear 9 via the gear 9. The pins 6, 7 are now located outside the guide rail 8 and release the folding leaves 1 for opening. In order to distribute the locking forces in the guide rail 8, the pins 6, 7 are spaced apart from one another by a distance A. In the embodiment shown, this distance is measured between the central longitudinal axes of the pins 6, 7, since these are round and therefore only touch linearly in the rail 8. The distance A should correspond at least to the load-bearing penetration depth E of the pins 6, 7 in the rail 8, but preferably greater, and particularly preferably even twice as great.

[0018] Further details of the construction are Fig. 2 and 5as well as the Fig. 6 shown variant. In the assembled state, the locking gear 9 with the push rods 10 is arranged in the profile piece 4' of the frame profile 4, while the reinforcing pins 7 with a corresponding part of the adapter pieces 11 are located in the reinforcing profile 4". In the transition between the profile piece 4' and the reinforcing profile 4", both parts 4', 4" have a recess 16 (see Fig. 2 ), through which the adapter pieces 11 penetrate. The recesses 16 are to be designed large enough to allow the up and down movement of the adapter pieces 11 during locking and unlocking. The adapter pieces 11 have mounting recesses 11', which make it possible to attach the adjacent push rods 10 and locking rods 12 to the adapter pieces 11 using appropriate tools. The adapter pieces 11 have guide surfaces 11" on their side facing the reinforcement profile 4", which bear against a counter guide surface 21 of the reinforcement profile 4", whereby the up and down movement of the adapter pieces 11 is stabilized and guided. In the illustrated embodiment, corresponding guide surfaces 11"' are also provided on the opposite side to increase stability, said guide surfaces bearing against a counter guide surface 21' of the profile piece 4'.

[0019] While the Fig. 1 bis 5 show an embodiment in which the frame profile 4 is composed of two profile parts detachably connected by means of screw connections 17, namely the profile piece 4' and the reinforcement profile 4", Fig. 6 an alternative embodiment with a one-piece design of the frame profile 4. In both cases, however, the frame profile 4 is connected to the frame profile 3 of the adjacent folding sash 1 via hinge fittings 18, so that the two folding sashes 1 can be pivoted against each other in the fully assembled state of the folding system and with the locking device in the open position, but remain connected.

[0020] The structural design of the folding system according to the invention and in particular its locking mechanism is simple, solid, low-maintenance and safe.
