BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE

[0001] The present disclosure generally relates to cartons for holding and dispensing one or more food products.

[0002] DE 296 13 370 U1 discloses a folding box that has a first folded unit with outer side walls which are connected to one another by fold lines. The folding box also has a folding cover and base. A second folded unit is connected to the first by a fold line, and has inner side walls which are connected to one another by fold lines. In the folded state, the inner side walls of the second unit are roughly parallel to the outer walls of the first unit. At least one inner wall has a smaller cross sectional width than the corresponding parallel outer wall, such that at least one inner side wall is parallel to the corresponding outer side wall, and is at a distance from it.

[0012] The present disclosure generally relates to cartons (e.g., carriers) with features for containing and facilitating dispensing articles such as food products, cooked food products, fried food products, hot and / or moist articles, etc. The articles can include, but are not limited to, fast food products, take-out products, meal leftovers, and the like, or any combination thereof. Examples of such products include, but are not limited to, fish, chicken (such as chicken nuggets, chicken strips, chicken fingers, etc.), popcorn, peanuts, candy, French fries (such as waffle fries, steak fries, shoestring fries, curly fries, etc.), French toast sticks, sandwich, pizza, calzone, turnover, burrito, or any other food product that may be packaged for consumption by a consumer. In this specification, the terms "inner," "interior," "outer," "exterior," "lower," "bottom," "upper," and "top" indicate orientations determined in relation to fully erected and upright cartons.

Examples of such products include, but are not limited to, fish, chicken (such as chicken nuggets, chicken strips, chicken fingers, etc.), popcorn, peanuts, candy, French fries (such as waffle fries, steak fries, shoestring fries, curly fries, etc.), French toast sticks, sandwich, pizza, calzone, turnover, burrito, or any other food product that may be packaged for consumption by a consumer. 1. A carton (105) for holding at least one food product, the carton (105) comprising: an inner container portion (107) comprising a plurality of panels extending at least partially around an interior chamber (117) of the inner container portion (107) for holding at least one food product, the plurality of panels of the inner container portion (107) comprising an inner front panel (121), an inner back panel (131), at least one inner side panel (123, 127), and a bottom panel (161); an outer sleeve portion (109) comprising a plurality of panels extending at least partially around the inner container portion (107), the plurality of panels of the outer sleeve portion (109) comprising an outer front panel (165), an outer back panel (151), and at least one outer side panel (153, 157), at least one panel of the plurality of panels of the outer sleeve portion (109) is foldably connected to the bottom panel (161), the inner container portion (107) is spaced apart from the outer sleeve portion (109) to form a pocket (111) between the inner container portion (107) and the outer sleeve portion (109); characterised in that a plurality of end flaps are foldably connected to a respective panel of the plurality of panels of the outer sleeve portion (109) for forming a closed top end (113) of the carton (105), the plurality of end flaps comprising s a first top end flap (191) foldably connected to the outer back panel (151) and a second top end flap (195) foldably connected to the outer front panel (165), the first top end flap (191) in at least partial overlapping relation with the second top end flap (195) to form the closed top end (113) of the carton (105).

2. The carton (105) of claim 1, wherein the pocket (111) provides insulation between the inner container portion (107) and the outer sleeve portion (109).

3. The carton (105) of claim 1, wherein the pocket (111) is for receiving steam and moisture from the inner container portion (107) to maintain freshness of the at least one food product.

4. The carton (105) of claim 1, wherein the outer front panel (165) is spaced apart from the inner front panel (121).

5. The carton (105) of claim 4, wherein the at least one outer side panel (153, 157) is spaced apart from the at least one inner side panel (123, 127).

6. The carton (105) of claim 5, further comprising a plurality of venting apertures (122) formed in the inner container portion (107) for venting the interior chamber (117) of the inner container portion (107) to the pocket (111).

7. The carton (105) of claim 6, wherein at least one venting aperture is positioned in the inner front panel (121), and at least one venting aperture is positioned in the at least one inner side panel (123, 127).

8. The carton (105) of claim 1, wherein the outer front panel (165) is foldably connected to the bottom panel (161).

9. The carton (105) of claim 8, wherein the bottom panel (161) comprises a first portion (185) foldably connected to a second portion (187).

The carton (105) of claim 1, wherein the at least one outer side panel (153, 157) comprises a first portion (173, 179) foldably connected to a second portion (175, 181) such that the first portion (173, 179) of the at least one outer side panel (153, 157) is obliquely disposed relative to the second portion (175, 181) of the at least one outer side panel (153, 157).

A blank (103) for forming a carton (105) for holding at least one food product, the blank (103) comprising: an inner container portion (107) comprising a plurality of panels for at least partially extending around an interior chamber (117) of an inner container portion (107) of the carton (105) for holding at least one food product when the carton (105) is formed from the blank (103), the plurality of panels of the inner container portion (107) of the blank (103) comprising an inner front panel (121), an inner back panel (131), at least one inner side panel (123, 127), and a bottom panel (161); an outer sleeve portion (109) comprising a plurality of panels for extending at least partially around the inner container portion (107) of the carton (105) to form an outer sleeve portion (109) of the carton (105) when the carton (105) is formed from the blank (103), the plurality of panels of the outer sleeve portion (109) of the blank (103) comprising an outer front panel (165), an outer back panel (151), and at least one outer side panel (153, 157), at least one panel of the plurality of panels of the outer sleeve portion (109) is foldably connected to the bottom panel (161), the inner container portion (107) of the carton (105) is for being spaced apart from the outer sleeve portion (109) of the carton (105) for forming a pocket (111) between the inner container portion (107) of the carton (105) and the outer sleeve portion (109) of the carton (105) when the carton (105) is formed from the blank (103); characterised in that a plurality of end flaps are foldably connected to a respective panel of the plurality of panels of the outer sleeve portion (109) of the blank (103) for forming a closed top end (113) of the carton (105) formed from the blank (103), the plurality of end flaps comprising s a first top end flap (191) foldably connected to the outer back panel (151) and a second top end flap (195) foldably connected to the outer front panel (165), the first top end flap (191) for being positioned in at least partial overlapping relation with the second top end flap (195) to form the closed top end (113) of the carton (105) formed from the blank (103).

The blank (103) of claim 11, further comprising a plurality of venting apertures (122) formed in the inner container portion (107) of the blank (103) for venting the interior chamber (117) of the inner container portion (107) of the carton (105) to the pocket (111) when the carton (105) is formed from the blank (103), wherein at least one venting aperture is positioned in the inner front panel (121), and at least one venting aperture is positioned in the at least one inner side panel (123, 127).

13. The blank (103) of claim 11, wherein the outer front panel (165) is foldably connected to the bottom panel (161).

14. A method of forming a carton (105) for holding at least one food product, the method comprising: obtaining a blank (103) comprising an inner container portion (107) comprising a plurality of panels comprising an inner front panel (121), an inner back panel (131), at least one inner side panel (123, 127), and a bottom panel (161), the blank (103) further comprising an outer sleeve portion (109) comprising a plurality of panels comprising an outer front panel (165), an outer back panel (151), and at least one outer side panel (153, 157), at least one panel of the plurality of panels of the outer sleeve portion (109) is foldably connected to the bottom panel (161), and the blank (103) further comprising a plurality of end flaps foldably connected to a respective panel of the plurality of panels of the outer sleeve portion (109) of the blank (103), the plurality of end flaps comprises a first top end flap (191) foldably connected to the outer back panel (151) and a second top end flap (195) foldably connected to the outer front panel (165); folding the plurality of panels of the inner container portion (107) of the blank (103) to form an inner container portion (107) of the carton (105); folding the plurality of panels of the outer sleeve portion (109) of the blank (103) around the inner container portion (107) of the carton (105) to form an outer sleeve portion (109) of the carton (105) such that the inner container portion (107) of the carton (105) is spaced apart from the outer sleeve portion (109) of the carton (105) and such that a pocket (111) is formed between the inner container portion (107) of the carton (105) and the outer sleeve portion (109) of the carton (105); and positioning the first top end flap (191) in at least partial overlapping relation with the second top end flap (195) to form a closed top end (113) of the carton (105).

15. The method of claim 14, wherein the pocket (111) provides insulation between the inner container portion (107) of the carton (105) and the outer sleeve portion (109) of the carton (105).

16. The method of claim 14, wherein the pocket (111) is for receiving steam and moisture from the inner container portion (107) of the carton (105) to maintain freshness of the at least one food product.

17. The method of claim 14, wherein the outer sleeve portion (109) of the carton (105) and the inner container portion (107) of the carton (105) are formed such that the outer front panel (165) is spaced apart from the inner front panel (121).

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the outer sleeve portion (109) of the carton (105) and the inner container portion (107) of the carton (105) are formed such that the at least one outer side panel (153, 157) is spaced apart from the at least one inner side panel (123, 127).

The method of claim 18, further comprising a plurality of venting apertures (122) formed in the inner container portion (107) of the carton (105) for venting the interior chamber (117) of the inner container portion (107) to the pocket (111), wherein at least one venting aperture is positioned in the inner front panel (121), and at least one venting aperture is positioned in the at least one inner side panel (123, 127).

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the outer front panel (165) is foldably connected to the bottom panel (161).

21. The method of claim 20, wherein the bottom panel (161) comprises a first portion (185) foldably connected to a second portion (187), and at least one outer side panel (153, 157) comprises a first portion (173, 179) foldably connected to a second portion (175, 181) such that the first portion (173, 179) of the at least one outer side panel (153, 157) is obliquely disposed relative to the second portion (175, 181) of the at least one outer side panel (153, 157).
