Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to an assembly consisting of a first watch component assembled with a second watch component. This assembly is intended, in particular, to equip a movement or a watch part.
[0002] In the field of watchmaking, it is sometimes desirable to be able to assemble two components in a way that is detachable, invisible (aesthetic) and inexpensive (few parts, few details to machine, few manipulations for assembly and disassembly).
[0003] Some timepieces feature decoration on the dial's base plate. This decoration may consist of one or more decorative elements applied to the base plate, a relief motif, an automaton, or a combination of these elements. The materials used for this decoration can vary: precious or non-precious metal, glass, mother-of-pearl, painted or enameled elements, and so on.
[0004] To achieve a relief or three-dimensional effect, the decorative elements can be fixed to the base plate to form several distinct levels, offset from the plate itself. These decorative elements can then be attached to the dial's base plate by means of feet that pass through the base plate and are fixed beneath the decorative element, as described in EP 3 339 979. In this case, access to the underside of the base plate is required to mount and dismount the decorative elements, which is not always possible if the decoration includes moving parts that must be driven onto the movement for operation.
[0005] To avoid compromising the aesthetics of the design, it is preferable that the means of fixing the various constituent elements of the design to the base plate of the dial or to the movement not be visible on the timepiece in its final assembled state.
[0006] Furthermore, assembling the decoration onto the dial and the dial onto the movement of the timepiece can be complex, especially if the decoration comprises several decorative elements distributed across multiple levels, including moving parts that must be kinematically linked to the movement of the timepiece for their operation. Thus, if a moving part is located between the base plate and a decorative element, or between two fixed decorative elements, it is necessary to first attach a decorative element to the base plate, then attach the base plate to the movement of the timepiece, then attach the moving part to the movement for its drive, before finally attaching the decorative element that sits above the moving part. This upper decorative element must therefore be mounted on the dial's base plate while the latter is already mounted on the movement. In this case as well, it would be advantageous to be able to assemble the second decorative element invisibly.
[0007] Besides aesthetics, other parameters to consider when assembling watch components include the size of the parts and the complexity of the assembly in terms of time, cost, and skill. The possibility of disassembly is yet another advantage. For example, a screw assembly requires costly and cumbersome tapping and consideration of the space needed for the tool used for tightening and tightening, both during assembly and disassembly.
[0008] The aim of the present invention is to provide a solution that allows for the easy, aesthetically pleasing, and even invisible assembly of two or more watch components, preferably in a detachable manner, while minimizing bulk and cost. A specific aim of the invention is to provide a robust construction that allows for a tight, play-free assembly with minimal height to enable the creation of the thinnest possible watch movements and components.
[0009] The invention relates to an assembly consisting of at least one first watch component assembled to a second watch component according to claim 1.
[0010] The attached figures illustrate several embodiments of an assembly according to the invention. There figure 1 is a side view of a first embodiment of the invention in which the assembly comprises a decorative element mounted on the dial of a timepiece. figure 2 is a top view (dial side) of the first execution form of the figure 1 . THE figures 3a, 3b And 4 are views from below (movement side) of the first execution form of the figure 1 The movement is not visible. These figures illustrate in particular the installation of the fixing element for assembling the decorative element onto the dial. figure 5 illustrates the fastening element of the first execution form seen from above. The figure 6 is a perspective view of the figure 3b illustrating the assembly of the decorative element onto the dial using the fastening element according to the first embodiment of the invention. Figures 7 to 9 illustrate a second embodiment of the invention in which the assembly comprises a dial fixed to a movement of a timepiece. The figure 10 illustrates a third embodiment of the invention in which a dial is assembled onto a movement of a timepiece. figure 11 et 12 illustrate a fastening element according to a variant of the invention.
[0011] The aim of the present invention is therefore to enable the fixing of a first watch component onto a second watch component, the fixing being secure, aesthetic, simple, inexpensive and removable, preferably without play between the components and while limiting the bulk, particularly in height.
[0012] THE figures 1 à 6 illustrate a timepiece comprising a movement 1 and a dial 2 formed from a base plate 20 supporting a decoration 3.
[0013] The movement 1 of the timepiece can be of any known type, mechanical or quartz, with or without complications. This movement is not the subject of the present invention and will therefore not be described in further detail here.
[0014] As illustrated, the decor 3 includes fixed decorative elements 31, 32 and movable decorative elements 33, 34 arranged one above the other to form a relief pattern.
[0015] One objective of the present invention is to obtain a decorative element 3 in which the means for attaching the various decorative elements 31 to 34 composing the decorative element 3 to the base plate 20 of the dial 2 are not visible once the timepiece is fully assembled. Preferably, the attachment should be robust and removable without increasing the overall height of the dial 2 and decorative element 3 assembly.
[0016] THE figures 1 à 6 illustrate in particular the assembly or fixing of the fixed decorative element 31 on the base plate 20 of the dial 2. Thus, in this example, the decorative element 31 and the base plate 20 of the dial 2 constitute an embodiment of an assembly according to the invention.
[0017] According to the first embodiment, the decorative element 31 which is to be fixed to the base plate 20 in a simple, removable and invisible manner comprises at least one but preferably two feet 4 intended to fit into corresponding openings in the base plate 20. The openings are through-holes so that the end 41 of the feet 4 protrudes under the base plate 20 when said feet 4 pass through the openings ( figures 3a, 3b And 4 ). Each of the feet 4 includes a groove 42 intended to cooperate with a fixing element 6 arranged to hold the decorative element 31 assembled on the base plate 20 of the dial 2.
[0018] According to the invention, at least one fastening element 6 allows the decorative element 31 to be assembled onto the base plate 20. Such a fastening element 6 according to the first embodiment is illustrated in particular in figures 3a, 3b , 4 et 5 Each fastening element 6 comprises an elastic portion formed by two elastic arms 61, the ends 62 of which together form an opening 65 into which the foot 4, and in particular the groove 42 of the decorative element 31, can be snapped or clipped. Preferably, each end 62 comprises a groove 66 against which the end 41 of a foot 4 of the decorative element 31 abuts. The fastening element 6 further comprises a fixed portion 63 shaped to allow for its manipulation. In the illustrated embodiment, the fixed portion 63 is essentially flat and rounded for gripping and also has two notches 64 into which a tool can be inserted (see the assembly description below). Alternatively, the fixed portion 63 also includes a hole 68 for receiving a tool to aid in manipulating the fastening element 6.
[0019] In the present embodiment, during the assembly of the dial 2, the base plate 20 is first mounted onto the movement 1 by any suitable means. Certain movable decorative elements 33, 34 are then driven onto the movement 1 above the base plate 20 for their carriage. The decorative element 31 is mounted onto the base plate by inserting the feet 4 of said element into their respective openings on the base plate 20. The ends 41 of the feet 30 pass through the base plate 20 and are located between said base plate 20 and the movement 1 as illustrated in the figure 3a In the illustrated embodiment, the base plate 20 includes on its lower surface 22 recesses 21 intended to receive the feet 4 of the decorative element 31 as well as the fixing elements 6 so that these components once assembled do not protrude from the lower surface 22 of the base plate 20 and in particular do not interfere with the movement 1 (thus, there is not necessarily a need to adapt the movement 1 to use the assembly system according to the invention).
[0020] In order to be able to fix the decorative element 31 on the base plate 20 while the latter is already mounted on the movement 1, these components are preferably arranged so that the feet 4 are on the outer periphery of the base plate 20 as illustrated in the figures.
[0021] Once the decorative element 31 is placed on the base plate 20, the fixing element 6, which can be as thin as possible, is slid between the base plate 20 and the movement 1 until the foot 4 snaps or clips into the opening 65 of the fixing element 6 ( figure 3b The elastic arms 61 are arranged so that their free ends 62 first abut against the foot 4, then, by maintaining pressure on the fastening element 6, the elastic arms 61 spread apart and the foot 4 enters the opening 65 before the elastic arms 61 close, trapping the foot 4 in the opening 65. The fastening element 6 is then in an intermediate position. In this intermediate position, illustrated in particular in the figure 3b The fixing element 6 is held in translation on the foot 4 but is free to pivot around said foot 4. The fixing element 6 has come to rest in the groove 42 of the foot 4 and the end 41 of the foot 4 in the groove 66 of the fixing element 6. Thus, in this intermediate position illustrated in the figure 3b The fixing elements 6 secure the decorative element 31 to the base plate 20. The groove 42 therefore acts as a stop designed to cooperate with the fixing element 6 for axial locking of the foot 4 when the fixing element 6 is in its intermediate or retracted position. Alternatively, the groove 42 could be replaced by a shoulder or any other suitable stop.
[0022] From the intermediate position, to make the assembly invisible, the fixing elements 6 are then pivoted around the feet 4 to be brought under the base plate 20 into the recesses 21 ( figure 4 During this pivoting motion, the elastic arms 61 do not deform, the feet 4 remain engaged in the openings 65, and the decorative element 31 remains assembled on the base plate 20. Once in their retracted position illustrated in the figure 4 The fastening elements 6 are housed in the recesses 21 so that they barely protrude from the lower surface 22 of the base plate 20. Thus, the fastening elements 6 hold the decorative element 31 onto the base plate 20 without interfering with the movement 1. The dial 2-movement 1 assembly can therefore be easily placed in the case without the fastening elements 6 interfering with this operation. Furthermore, once the assembly is in the watch case, the case prevents any rotation of the fastening element 6 from its retracted position to its intermediate position.
[0023] Preferably, there is a boss 23 in each recess 21 of the base plate 20 arranged to cooperate with a chamfer 67 on the periphery of the elastic arms 61 of the fastener 6. Thus, when the fastener 6 is pivoted from its intermediate position to its retracted position, it abuts against the boss 23. Due to the shape of the chamfer 67, part of the elastic element 6 passes over the boss 23, which then exerts a force on the fastener 6, tending to pull it away from the base plate 20. The fastener 6 is thus held against the groove 42 in the direction of the end 41 of the foot 4, pulling on the latter, which forces the decorative element 31 against the base plate 20. In addition, this boss 23 can also serve as a guide for the radial insertion of the fastener 6 when of the assembly.
[0024] To disassemble, simply rotate the fixing element 6 in the opposite direction from its retracted position to its intermediate position and then pull on said element to unclip the foot 4 from the opening 65 between the elastic arms 61. To grasp the fixing element 6 concealed in its recess 21 of the base plate 20, it is possible to pass a tool into one of the notches 64 of the fixed portion 63 and then into the opening 68.
[0025] Thus, in the first embodiment of the invention, the assembly formed by the decorative element 31 and the base plate 20 of the dial 2 is assembled using two fastening elements 6 (one would have sufficed). This assembly is secure and robust: firstly, the shape of the elastic arms 61, the opening 65, and the free ends 62 of said arms 61 can be chosen so that the elastic force exerted by the fastening element 6 on the base 4 is sufficient. Secondly, in its retracted position, it is difficult to rotate and / or pull the fastening element 6, which prevents accidental detachment. Another important advantage is the small size of the fastening element 6, which can be very thin.Furthermore, all the components are easy to machine: simple feet on the decorative element 31, holes and recesses on the base plate 20, and a one-piece mounting element 6 with reduced functional characteristics—flexible arms, chamfer, and notches—but easily machined. Without screws, tapping, or special tools required for assembly, production costs are reduced. It should also be noted that the movement 1 is not affected by this assembly system: the entire assembly is contained within the thickness of the base plate 20 and rests solely on it. It is therefore feasible to implement an assembly system like the one described above on existing dials and movements by modifying only the dial and its components.
[0026] Furthermore, assembling the decorative element 31 onto the base plate 20 is a quick and easy procedure requiring no fine adjustments or special tools from the watchmaker. Disassembly, which is entirely possible according to the invention, is also quick and easy, even though, once the fastening element 6 is in its retracted position, the assembly offers a very high level of security.
[0027] Finally, once the decorative element 31 is fixed to the base plate 20 using the fasteners 6, this assembly is not visible from above the dial 2. The aesthetic appeal of the decoration 3 and the decorative element 31 is thus ensured. Furthermore, without any visible screws, holes, or other fastening systems, the decorative element 31 is free to be fully decorated by any suitable means (enamelling or setting across its entire surface, which is not possible with a screw, hole, or other fastener).
[0028] THE figures 7 à 9 illustrate a second form of embodiment of the invention.
[0029] In this embodiment, a dial is mounted on a watch movement. Components identical or similar to those in the first embodiment are designated by the same reference numerals plus a prime. This time, it is the dial 2' whose base plate 20' includes at least one, but preferably two, feet 4' designed to fit into corresponding openings 51 in an annular bridge 5 mounted on the movement 1'. The annular bridge 5 can also serve as a support for other components of the movement 1'.
[0030] As in the first form of execution, in order to be accessible, the feet 4' are located at the periphery of the base plate 20' of the dial 2' and the annular bridge 5 also extends to the periphery of the movement 1.
[0031] As in the first embodiment, the annular bridge 5 includes on its lower surface 52 recesses 53 in which the fixing elements 6' are housed. The said fixing elements 6' are similar to those described above with reference to the first embodiment.
[0032] To assemble the base plate 20' onto the movement 1, the annular bridge 5 must first be mounted onto the movement 1 by any suitable means. The feet 4' of the base plate 20' are then slid into their respective openings 51 of the annular bridge 5. Each fastening element 6' is then inserted between the movement and the annular bridge 5 to snap or clip one foot 4' of the base plate 20' into an opening 65' of said fastening element 6'. In this intermediate position illustrated in the figure 7 The feet 4' of the base plate 20' are held by their groove 42' between the elastic arms 61' of the fixing element 6', and the base plate 20' is thus assembled onto the annular bridge 5. By the construction of the feet 4' (grooves 42') and the fixing element 6' (opening 65', groove 66', elastic arm 61'), in its intermediate position, said fixing element 6 is fixed in translation but can pivot around the foot 4'. It is therefore possible to pivot the fixing elements 6' to bring them into their retracted position ( figure 9 ) in which they are housed between the movement 1' and the annular bridge 5 in the recesses 53 of said bridge 5. In this position, the assembly of the dial 2' onto the movement 1' is solid, but is not visible and does not interfere with the casing of the movement 1' (see figure 9 ).
[0033] Disassembly is carried out by grasping the fixing element 6', possibly using a tool (via the notches 64' or the opening 68'), and rotating it into its intermediate position. The fixing element 6' is then pulled to unclip the foot 4' from the opening 65', which frees said foot 4' and therefore the base plate 20' of the dial 2', which is no longer held on the annular bridge 5.
[0034] This second form of execution could also include the boss and chamfer system described above for stressing the fixing element 6' to ensure the plating of the base plate 20' on the annular bridge 5.
[0035] This second embodiment of the invention has all the advantages described above in relation to the first embodiment: secure and robust assembly of the dial on the movement, invisible, thin, compact assembly which does not interfere with the movement or its casing, simple and quick assembly and disassembly with common tools, components that are simple to machine for reduced production costs.
[0036] There figure 10 illustrates a third embodiment of the invention. As in the second embodiment, the aim is to assemble the dial 2" onto the movement 1". Components identical or similar to those in the first or second embodiment are designated by the same reference numerals plus a double prime.
[0037] In this third embodiment, the 6" fastening element is manipulated to snap / clip the 4" feet of the 2" dial without being detached from the movement 1". Indeed, the 6" fastening element is mounted on the movement 1" in a recess 11" so as to be free to translate within the plane of the movement 1" but held in a plane perpendicular to said plane of the movement 1". Furthermore, the 6" fastening element includes shoulders 69" which abut against bearing surfaces 111" of the recess 11" of the movement 1", thus preventing the 6" fastening element from coming out of said recess 11". The other characteristics of the 6" fastening element of this third embodiment are similar to those described above with reference to the first and second embodiments.
[0038] There figure 10 The figure illustrates the 6" mounting element in its first position, in which a portion of its fixed portion 63" protrudes from the movement to be operated by a tool or by hand, notably via the opening 68". In this position, the 4" foot of the 2" dial, inserted into an opening in the movement 1" and whose end 41" protrudes into the recess 11", is not in the path of the elastic arms 61" of the mounting element 6". The 2" gimbal is therefore not retained on the movement 1".
[0039] By pushing the 6" fixing element into its second position, the 4" foot snaps or clips into the 65" opening of the 61" elastic arms, as in previous embodiments. In this position, the 2" dial is assembled onto the 1" movement.
[0040] This third embodiment of the invention offers all the advantages described above in relation to the first and second embodiments: secure and robust assembly of the dial onto the movement; an invisible, slim, and compact assembly that does not interfere with the movement or its casing; quick and easy assembly and disassembly using standard tools; and components that are simple to machine, resulting in reduced production costs. Furthermore, this embodiment offers greater flexibility in positioning the dial feet, as it allows for a mounting element with long arms to reach feet further back from the dial's periphery. A long mounting element is more cumbersome when it needs to be pivoted to conceal it, as in the first and second embodiments.
[0041] In the above embodiments, the elastic snap-on or clip-on force is achieved by two elastic arms that form a clamp and open when the foot presses on the ends of the arms, then close again. Alternatively, a bistable flexible blade system can be used for the fastening element, in which the clamp arms open in a first position of the system (foot released) and close in a second position (foot retained). Such a system remains simple to operate, robust, very compact, and also allows for rotation to make it invisible, as in the first or second embodiment above. figures 11 et 12 illustrate such a fastening element in a variant of the third embodiment. The fastening element 6‴ is a bistable flexible blade system 7 in which the arms 61‴ open in a first position of the system (foot released, figure 11 ) and close in a second position (foot held, figure 12 ). The fixing element 6‴ is fixed to the movement 1‴ by a screw 8 or any other suitable means. By pulling or pushing on the fixed part 63‴, the flexible blades 7 deform and open or close the arms 61‴.
[0042] The above embodiments have been described by way of example only; other variants are conceivable without departing from the scope of the present invention as defined in the claims.
[0043] Alternatively, an intermediate component could be inserted between the decorative element and the dial, or between the dial and the movement. If the foot also passes through an opening in the intermediate component, then the component is sandwiched between the decorative element and the dial, or between the dial and the movement. This intermediate component can act as a shim or spacer.
[0044] In general, the present invention relates to an assembly comprising at least one first watch component intended to be assembled to a second watch component. The first watch component includes at least one foot designed to pass through a corresponding opening in the second watch component. The opening leads into a mounting space open to the outside of the assembly and delimited by the second component and a surface such that the foot passing through the opening is not accessible in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of said foot, but only in a direction essentially perpendicular to said longitudinal axis.
[0045] The surface defining the mounting space may be part of a third watch component (a movement component in the described embodiments). Alternatively, it could be an integral part of the second watch component, the mounting space then being a recess formed in the second component, open to the outside of said component and into which opens the opening intended to receive the foot of the first component.
[0046] According to the invention, the assembly further comprises a fixing element arranged to be moved in the fixing space in a direction perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the foot between a first position in which it does not retain the foot of the first component in the opening of the second component and a second position in which it cooperates with the foot to retain it in the opening in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the foot thus ensuring the assembly of the first component on the second watch component.
[0047] The fixing element preferably comprises two arms and elastic means arranged so that, in its second position, when the foot of the first component is held between the arms of the fixing element, the movement of the fixing element towards its first position causes a stress on the elastic means which allows the said foot to be released from the said arms.
[0048] Preferably, the foot includes a groove with which the fixing element cooperates in its second position to retain the first component on the second component in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis of the foot.
[0049] Preferably, the assembly is arranged so that, in the second position of the fastening element, the latter does not protrude in thickness from the second component. For example, the fastening element can fit into a recess in the second watch component.
[0050] Preferably, in its second position, the fastener does not extend beyond the first or second component and is entirely housed within the fastener space.
[0051] Alternatively, the fixing element can also be arranged to be moved or pivoted from its second position into a final position in which it is fully housed in the fixing space.
[0052] Preferably, the second component includes a boss arranged to cooperate with a chamfer of the fastener so that when moved into its second position and / or pivoted into its final position, a portion of the fastener passes over the boss, which exerts a stress on the foot of the first component, tending to move it against the second component in a direction essentially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the foot.
[0053] Preferably, the fastening element includes at least one gripping means such as a notch or hole to facilitate its movement from its second position to its first position and / or from its final position to its second position.
[0054] Preferably, the fastening element includes a fixed, graspable portion allowing it to be manipulated for movement.
[0055] Preferably, the fixing element comprises two elastic arms whose ends form an opening between them into which the foot snaps or clips when the fixing element is moved into its second position.
[0056] Alternatively, the fixing element includes a bistable flexible blade system comprising two arms and arranged so that said arms are in an open position when the fixing element is in its first position and a closed position in which they clamp the foot when the fixing element is in its second position.
[0057] Preferably, the first component is a decorative element of a dial and the second component is the dial's base plate, while the surface defining the mounting area is the upper plane of the movement for which the dial is intended. Alternatively, the first component is a dial or the base plate of a dial and the second component is a bridge of the movement for which the dial is intended.
[0058] This results in a secure and robust assembly of a first component onto a second component, with a small footprint: without tapping and relying solely on elastic properties, the fastening element can be very thin. Furthermore, assembly, mounting, or disassembly according to the present invention is a quick and easy procedure requiring no fine adjustments or special tools from the watchmaker. All components are also easy to machine, resulting in reduced production costs.
