Abstract
Description
[0001] The present invention relates to the field of ventilation devices and in particular to fan housings for installation in a ventilation device.
[0002] A common problem with ventilation units is the formation of condensate inside the unit, which can occur when a ventilation unit is exposed to low temperatures.
[0003] For this purpose, it is known to provide a condensate drain in the lower area of the ventilation unit, whereby at least a large part of the components within the ventilation unit can be designed in such a way that possible condensate on the components can flow in the direction of the condensate drain and then leave the ventilation unit through the condensate drain.
[0004] In addition, it is known to provide a float switch within the ventilation unit to protect electronic components and prevent short circuits. This float switch is designed to detect condensate in the event that it collects within the ventilation unit, e.g., if the condensate drain is blocked. Based on the detection, a corresponding alarm signal can then be issued and / or the ventilation unit can be shut down.
[0005] An example of an electronic component within the ventilation unit is a temperature sensor designed to detect a temperature within the fan housing. In the prior art, the temperature sensor is arranged, for example, in a vertically thinned-out position of the fan housing. While such temperature detection represents a safe position for the temperature sensor with regard to condensate, it results in a temperature change being detected only slowly, i.e., only when the temperature of the thinned-out area of the fan housing changes, so that corresponding regulation / control of the ventilation unit based on the temperature change is also slow.
[0006] It is therefore desired to present a solution that enables more sensitive temperature measurement and at the same time protects the temperature sensor used and other electronic components from condensate.
[0007] The aim of the present invention is therefore to increase the measurement accuracy of temperature measurements or temperature differences without increasing or reducing the probability of condensate causing a short circuit. Increased measurement accuracy allows a corresponding control system to intervene quickly in the event of temperature differences and, for example, initiate preprogrammed steps. The invention can thus increase the safety of the ventilation unit.
[0008] According to a first aspect of the invention, a fan housing is proposed as defined in claim 1, namely a fan housing for installation in a ventilation device, comprising a fan chamber configured to accommodate at least one fan, a temperature sensor chamber configured to accommodate a temperature sensor, wherein the temperature sensor chamber is arranged on the fan chamber, wherein an opening is provided between the fan chamber and the temperature sensor chamber, wherein the opening spatially connects a volume surrounded by the fan chamber and a volume surrounded by the temperature sensor chamber, and wherein the temperature sensor chamber has a temperature sensor holder for holding the temperature sensor, wherein the temperature sensor holder is arranged above the opening, and / or a float switch holder configured to hold a float switch, wherein the float switch holder is arranged on the fan chamber, wherein the float switch holder has a fastening area protruding from the fan housing, wherein the fastening area has a recess designed to receive a float switch, and wherein the fastening area has at least one fixing opening, wherein the at least one fixing opening has a wide area and a narrow area for receiving a fixing means of the float switch.
[0009] The fan housing according to the invention makes it possible to increase the accuracy of a temperature measurement, while electronic components, in particular the temperature sensor, are protected from condensate.
[0010] The fan housing is designed and constructed for installation in a ventilation unit. In particular, the fan housing may include support blocks on which the fan housing can stand, for example, within the ventilation unit.
[0011] The installation of the fan housing in the ventilation unit defines an orientation of the fan housing that corresponds to the orientation of the fan housing within the ventilation unit and thus corresponds to a correct orientation of the fan housing. This means that an upper section of the fan housing is oriented upwards when installed in the ventilation unit, and a lower section of the fan housing is oriented downwards when installed in the ventilation unit. Furthermore, the fan housing has a front and a rear side, with the front side including an intake opening.
[0012] A basic shape of the fan housing corresponds to a basic shape of a spiral housing, i.e. the fan housing has an essentially spiral basic shape which, similar to a cylindrical basic shape, has a jacket surface, a first base surface and a second base surface. The spiral basic shape defines an axis around which a spiral, which defines the spiral basic shape, runs. In particular, this axis corresponds to an axis of rotation of the fan located in the spiral housing. When installed, the axis of the spiral basic shape is aligned horizontally, i.e. the fan housing lies / stands on the jacket surface within the ventilation unit. It should be emphasized that the essentially spiral basic shape is merely a simplified description of the geometry of the fan housing and that the actual shape of the fan housing is usually much more complex (see below). In particular, the aforementioned axis of the spiral basic shape does not imply that the fan housing has a symmetrical, particularly radially symmetrical or spirally symmetrical, structure. Furthermore, the lateral surface, the first base surface, and the second base surface are typically not flat, but rather adapted to specific functions of the fan housing.
[0013] The fan housing can be designed in the lower region to be fastened in the ventilation unit. Preferably, the fan housing comprises fastening means in a lower region that are designed to be fastened to the ventilation unit. For example, the fan housing comprises support blocks, wherein the support blocks are designed as fastening means and thus comprise the fastening means. Furthermore, the fan housing preferably comprises an upper opening in the upper region through which air can flow into and / or out of the ventilation unit. The upper opening is oriented upwards when the fan housing is installed.
[0014] The fan housing comprises a fan chamber configured to accommodate a fan. In particular, the fan, or rather the fan housing, is arranged such that a rotational axis of the fan is aligned horizontally within the ventilation device, i.e., corresponds to an alignment of the aforementioned axis of the fan housing. Preferably, a basic shape of the fan chamber corresponds to the essentially spiral basic shape of the fan housing.
[0015] According to the invention, the fan housing preferably comprises a temperature sensor chamber designed to accommodate a temperature sensor. The invention also relates to a fan housing with a temperature sensor chamber and a temperature sensor at least partially accommodated by the temperature sensor chamber. The temperature sensor preferably comprises a sensor head and a sensor connector. The temperature sensor chamber is arranged on the fan chamber. "Arranged on the fan chamber" here means that the temperature sensor chamber is arranged directly adjacent to the fan chamber, in particular a part of the fan chamber.
[0016] An opening is provided between the fan chamber and the temperature sensor chamber. The opening spatially connects a volume surrounded by the fan chamber and a volume surrounded by the temperature sensor chamber. This means that a fluid passage is provided through the opening between the fan chamber and the temperature sensor chamber.
[0017] The temperature sensor chamber has a temperature sensor holder for holding the temperature sensor. The temperature sensor holder is designed such that the temperature sensor is held or retained within the temperature sensor chamber. In particular, the temperature sensor holder is designed to hold a temperature sensor such that a sensor head of the temperature sensor is held within the temperature sensor chamber. Particularly preferably, a sensor plug of the temperature sensor is also held by the temperature sensor holder, with the sensor plug preferably being held outside the temperature sensor chamber.
[0018] The temperature sensor holder does not necessarily have to be located within the volume enclosed by the temperature sensor chamber. Preferably, the temperature sensor holder is located outside the volume enclosed by the temperature sensor chamber.
[0019] The temperature sensor holder is preferably elongated and oriented horizontally, i.e., parallel to a horizontal plane defined by the correct alignment of the fan housing in the ventilation unit. Furthermore, the temperature sensor holder is preferably arranged parallel to the aforementioned axis along its longest dimension.
[0020] The temperature sensor holder is preferably designed such that a temperature sensor is pushed from the rear of the fan housing towards the front of the fan housing, ie along the above-mentioned axis of the fan housing.
[0021] The temperature sensor holder is arranged above the opening. In particular, the temperature sensor chamber comprises an upper region and a lower region, which are oriented upwards / downwards, respectively, according to an orientation of the fan housing or the ventilation unit. The opening is then arranged in a lower region of the temperature sensor chamber, and the temperature sensor holder is arranged in an upper region of the temperature sensor chamber. Preferably, the temperature sensor chamber comprises a floor and a ceiling, with the opening arranged in the floor region and the temperature sensor holder in the ceiling region. "In the floor region" here means that the opening is positioned closer to the floor than to the ceiling, and "in the ceiling region" here means that the temperature sensor holder is positioned closer to the ceiling than to the floor. Particularly preferably, the temperature sensor holder is arranged on the ceiling.Additionally or alternatively, the opening in a side wall of the temperature sensor chamber is located directly at the bottom, i.e., at an edge formed by the bottom and the side wall. For example, the opening is rectangular, but alternatively, it can also have a different shape, at least partially, where it does not touch the edge of the bottom.
[0022] In a preferred embodiment of one aspect of the invention, the temperature sensor holder has a guide for guiding the temperature sensor. The temperature sensor holder preferably has a guide for guiding a sensor head of the temperature sensor and a guide for guiding the sensor plug of the temperature sensor. The temperature sensor holder is then particularly preferably designed such that the sensor plug is concealed on the sides by the temperature sensor holder. The guide is preferably aligned horizontally, i.e. parallel to a horizontal plane which is defined by the correct alignment of the fan housing in the ventilation device. Furthermore, the guide is preferably arranged parallel to the above-mentioned axis. The temperature sensor can thus be pushed from a rear side of the fan housing towards the front side of the fan housing.
[0023] Additionally or alternatively, the temperature sensor chamber has a stop arranged at one end of the temperature sensor mount. In a preferred embodiment, the stop is provided closer to the front of the fan housing than to the rear of the fan housing. In particular, the temperature sensor is pushed into the temperature sensor mount from the rear (relative to the fan housing) and strikes or rests against the stop at the front (relative to the fan housing).
[0024] In a further preferred embodiment, the temperature sensor chamber has a floor that slopes at least partially downwards. In particular, the floor of the temperature sensor chamber runs diagonally relative to a horizontal plane that is defined by the correct positioning of the fan housing. Particularly preferably, the floor slopes downwards towards the temperature sensor chamber and, more preferably, towards the opening. This means that at least part of the floor slopes downwards towards the fan chamber and towards the opening. In this way, any condensate that forms in the temperature sensor chamber and collects on the floor of the temperature sensor chamber can run out of the temperature sensor chamber towards the opening and into the fan chamber, where it can then leave the fan chamber through a condensate drain.
[0025] In this embodiment, the fan chamber includes an outlet opening at a bottom of the fan chamber, so that the fan housing is designed such that any condensate that forms in the fan chamber and any condensate that forms in the temperature sensor chamber and runs into the fan chamber leaves the fan housing through the outlet opening.
[0026] Alternatively, it is also conceivable that, in addition to the opening between the temperature sensor chamber and the fan chamber, a further opening from the temperature sensor chamber is provided, which is then arranged directly above the floor, so that condensate which forms in the temperature sensor chamber and collects on the floor of the temperature sensor chamber runs out of the temperature sensor chamber in the direction of the further opening, so that the condensate leaves the temperature sensor chamber. Then, at least part of the floor of the temperature sensor chamber runs diagonally downwards in the direction of the further opening. In this exemplary embodiment, the opening between the temperature sensor chamber and the fan chamber can also be arranged at a distance from the edge between the floor and the side wall of the temperature sensor chamber, as long as the temperature sensor holder is arranged above the opening.
[0027] However, it is preferred that the temperature sensor chamber has only one opening.
[0028] In a further advantageous embodiment, a part of the side wall of the temperature sensor chamber comprises at least a part of a side wall of the fan chamber. In particular, the side wall of the temperature sensor chamber corresponds at least partially to at least a part of the side wall of the fan chamber. The fan chamber and the temperature sensor chamber are thus connected or separated by a wall. Preferably, the opening is arranged in the wall connecting the fan chamber and the temperature sensor chamber, so that a fluid connection exists between the fan chamber and the temperature sensor chamber.
[0029] In a further advantageous embodiment, the fan housing has a front part and a rear part, wherein the temperature sensor chamber is formed by the front part and the rear part. Additionally or alternatively, the fan chamber is formed by the front part and the rear part of the fan housing. Further additionally or alternatively, the opening between the fan chamber and the temperature sensor chamber is formed by the front part and the rear part.
[0030] Preferably, the fan housing is made at least largely of plastic, with the front part and the rear part each being made at least largely of plastic, particularly preferably. The front part and the rear part of the fan housing preferably each form a front side of the fan chamber and a rear side of the temperature sensor chamber, respectively. In an assembled state, a volume in the fan chamber or in the temperature sensor chamber is at least largely enclosed by the front part and the rear part of the fan housing.
[0031] Preferably, the temperature sensor chamber is arranged in a lower region of the fan housing. For example, the temperature sensor chamber can be provided in a support block or mounting block of the fan housing.
[0032] Furthermore, according to the invention, the fan housing comprises, in addition to or alternatively to the temperature sensor chamber, a float switch holder, wherein the float switch holder is designed to hold a float switch. The fan housing particularly preferably also comprises the float switch.
[0033] The float switch holder is preferably arranged on the fan chamber or an outer wall of the fan chamber. In particular, the float switch holder is preferably arranged on a lower region of the fan chamber or the outer wall of the fan chamber. The float switch holder is preferably arranged on the front side of the fan housing. In particular, the front side encompasses the intake opening, so that in this embodiment, the float switch holder is arranged laterally next to the intake opening.
[0034] Alternatively, a further component can be provided around the fan housing, which at least partially encloses a space for the fan housing. This further component is preferably an EPS component. The float switch holder according to the invention can then also be arranged on the further component.
[0035] The float switch holder has a fastening area protruding from the fan housing, wherein the fastening area protrudes, preferably perpendicularly, from a surface of the fan housing surrounding the fastening area. In a preferred embodiment, the float switch holder corresponds to an angle, wherein the fastening area corresponds to an at least partially flat part, which then protrudes from a surface of the fan housing surrounding the fastening area. Particularly preferably, the fastening area is oriented horizontally, i.e., parallel to a horizontal plane defined by a correct alignment of the fan housing in the ventilation device.
[0036] The fastening area comprises a recess designed to accommodate a float switch. The recess is preferably oriented horizontally, i.e. parallel to a horizontal plane defined by the correct alignment of the fan housing in the ventilation device, and more preferably substantially perpendicular to a surface of the fan housing surrounding the fastening area. In particular, the recess is designed to accommodate a float switch that is inserted into the recess from top to bottom, such that the recess at least partially surrounds the float switch. The float switch is then designed such that a lower part of the float switch fits through the recess and an upper part of the float switch rests at least partially on the fastening area. The fastening area is thus designed to hold the float switch.
[0037] In addition, the fastening region comprises at least one fixing opening, wherein the at least one fixing opening is preferably aligned horizontally, i.e. parallel to a horizontal plane which is defined by the correct alignment of the fan housing in the ventilation device, and more preferably aligned substantially perpendicular to a surface of the fan housing surrounding the fastening region. Particularly preferably, the at least one fixing opening lies in the same plane as the recess. The at least one fixing opening comprises a wide region and a narrow region for receiving at least one fixing means of the float switch. In particular, the wide region of the fixing opening is wider than the narrow region of the fixing opening. The wide / narrow extent of the area corresponds to a horizontal extent of the fixing opening substantially parallel to a surface of the fan housing surrounding the fixing area and / or perpendicular to the above-mentioned axis of the fan housing.
[0038] In a preferred embodiment, the at least one fixing opening is elongated, with the wide region being located farther away from the fan housing than the narrow region. "Farther away" here means that a distance between the wide region and a surface of the fan housing is greater than a distance between the narrow region and the surface of the fan housing.
[0039] In a preferred embodiment, the float switch holder has two fixing openings, i.e. a first fixing opening and a second fixing opening, wherein the recess is then more preferably arranged between the first fixing opening and the second fixing opening. Preferably, the first fixing opening and the second fixing opening are each designed to be elongated, wherein the wide region of the first fixing opening is arranged further away from the fan housing than the narrow region of the first fixing opening and the wide region of the second fixing opening is arranged further away from the fan housing than the narrow region of the second fixing opening. More preferably, the first fixing opening and the second fixing opening are arranged symmetrically to one another relative to the recess, wherein additionally or alternatively the openings defined by the first fixing opening and the second fixing opening are mirror-symmetrical.
[0040] Fixing means of the float switch can be inserted from above through the at least one fixing opening, preferably two fixing openings, and pressed into a press fit by sliding the float switch within the at least one fixing opening toward the fan housing. This means that the float switch has at least one fixing means that is designed to complement the at least one fixing opening.
[0041] In particular, the invention also relates to a fan housing with a float switch holder as defined above and a float switch, wherein the float switch has at least one fixing means which is designed complementary to the at least one fixing opening and is further designed to provide a detachable connection to the float switch holder.
[0042] This means that the invention also relates to a system having a fan housing, a component at least partially surrounding the fan housing, and a float switch holder which is designed to hold a float switch, wherein the float switch holder is arranged on the component, wherein the float switch holder has a fastening region protruding from the component, wherein the fastening region has a recess which is designed to receive a float switch, and wherein the fastening region has at least one fixing opening, wherein the at least one fixing opening has a wide region and a narrow region for receiving a fixing means of the float switch. The surrounding component is preferably an EPS component. The system can also comprise the float switch.
[0043] Preferably, the float switch is designed such that a lower part of the float switch fits through the recess and an upper part of the float switch rests at least partially on the fastening area. When the upper part of the float switch rests on the fastening area, the at least one fixing means protrudes into the at least one fixing opening, in particular from above. The at least one fixing means is preferably arranged on a lower side of the upper part of the float switch.
[0044] Preferably, the float switch holder is arranged in a lower area of the fan housing.
[0045] The invention also relates to a ventilation device with at least one fan housing according to one of the aforementioned embodiments, wherein the fan housing has a substantially spiral basic shape with a lateral surface and at least one first base surface, wherein the temperature sensor chamber is arranged on the lateral surface and / or wherein the float switch holder is arranged on the first base surface. In a preferred embodiment, the ventilation device comprises two fan housings, each with a fan, i.e., an impeller and a motor, wherein the designs of the fan housing can then be the same or different.
[0046] Features of advantageous embodiments of the invention are defined in particular in the subclaims, wherein further advantageous features, embodiments and configurations can also be gathered by the person skilled in the art from the above explanations and the following discussion.

[0085] Although various aspects or features of the invention are shown in combination in the figures, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art—unless otherwise stated—that the illustrated and discussed combinations are not the only possible ones. In particular, corresponding units or feature complexes from different embodiments can be interchanged. Further considerations regarding the invention follow:
[0086] The invention preferably relates to an integration of a temperature sensor in a closed chamber on the spiral housing of a fan.
[0087] The spiral casing preferably comprises or is made of plastic and is particularly preferably manufactured by injection molding. The spiral casing primarily ensures that the air is deflected radially with as little frictional loss as possible. Furthermore, the spiral casing can also perform other functions for various components that can be attached to the spiral casing using special structures.
[0088] One of these features is the integration of the temperature sensor in a chamber located in the lower mounting block of the volute casing. This chamber is open to the impeller, allowing a steady flow of air to enter it.
[0089] The chamber is preferably designed so that any condensate that may accumulate in the temperature sensor chamber is directly returned to the spiral casing via a slope. The temperature sensor is preferably positioned so that no condensate can reach it, thus eliminating the possibility of a short circuit.
[0090] Preferably, the temperature sensor comprises a sensor head and a sensor connector. Because the temperature sensor is connected via a sensor connector, it can remain plugged in during maintenance or when replacing the fan, or it can be easily and conveniently replaced.
[0091] In a preferred embodiment, the temperature sensor, which comprises a sensor head and a sensor plug, is pushed into the temperature sensor chamber from behind via a guide. The guide can be designed such that the sensor plug of the temperature sensor also fits into the guide. Additionally or alternatively, the temperature sensor, i.e. the sensor head and / or the sensor plug, can be designed to lock into the temperature sensor holder. In this way, the temperature sensor, i.e. the sensor head and / or the sensor plug, is protected from condensate by the upper plate. The temperature sensor comprises, for example, a circuit board and can preferably be a PT 1000 temperature sensor. The temperature sensor is preferably connected via a Rast 2.5 plug.
[0092] In a preferred embodiment, the fan housing comprises a front part and a rear part, with the temperature sensor holder provided in the rear part. The temperature sensor is preferably inserted into the temperature sensor holder or guide until it touches the front part of the spiral housing. The front part of the spiral housing acts as a stop, ensuring that the temperature sensor can always be positioned reliably.
[0093] In a further preferred embodiment, stiffening slopes are raised in a front housing part and thus specify a flow direction so that any condensate that may occur cannot enter the space of the front housing part.
[0094] One current method for measuring the temperature inside the fan housing or fan chamber is to measure the temperature via the housing material. The housing material is thinned at the point to be measured, and a temperature sensor is clamped in place, for example, using hooks, so that the temperature sensor touches the housing wall, for example, the rear wall. This system is very slow, resulting in a very high response time of the control system.
[0095] The invention provides a system for achieving a shorter response time for the control system. The position of the temperature sensor in a chamber of the spiral casing, i.e., the temperature sensor chamber, offers the advantage over current solutions that even the smallest changes in the volume flow temperature are detected, allowing the ventilation unit to respond directly via controls. Furthermore, the temperature sensor is protected from condensate, thus preventing a short circuit of the temperature sensor due to moisture.
[0096] Another function of the spiral casing can be the housing of a float switch. The float switch is, among other things, a safety component that shuts off the device as soon as a certain water level is reached, e.g., if the condensate drain becomes blocked.
[0097] The float switch is preferably positioned in the ventilation unit in such a way that the water level cannot reach any electronic components or the operating impeller.
[0098] In a preferred embodiment, the float switch is attached to the front part of the spiral casing via a folded sheet metal, for example, using two screws, such as EJot PT screws. The contour of the sheet metal is preferably designed so that the float switch is lowered into the sheet metal from above and pressed into a press fit by a transverse movement. This fixes the sensor in the sheet metal.
[0099] The invention relates to a fan housing for installation in a ventilation device with a fan chamber which is designed to accommodate a fan, and a temperature sensor chamber which is designed to accommodate a temperature sensor, wherein the temperature sensor chamber is arranged on the fan chamber, wherein an opening is provided between the fan chamber and the temperature sensor chamber and wherein the temperature sensor chamber has a temperature sensor holder for holding the temperature sensor, wherein the temperature sensor holder is arranged above the opening.
[0100] The invention further relates to a fan housing for installation in a ventilation device with a fan chamber which is designed to accommodate a fan, and a float switch holder which is designed to hold a float switch, wherein the float switch holder is arranged on the fan chamber, wherein the float switch holder has a fastening area protruding from the fan housing, wherein the fastening area has a recess which is designed to accommodate a float switch and wherein the fastening area has at least one fixing opening, wherein the at least one fixing opening has a wide area and a narrow area for receiving a fixing means of the float switch.
[0101] The invention also relates to a fan housing for installation in a ventilation device, comprising a fan chamber configured to accommodate a fan, a temperature sensor chamber configured to accommodate a temperature sensor, wherein the temperature sensor chamber is arranged on the fan chamber, wherein an opening is provided between the fan chamber and the temperature sensor chamber, and wherein the temperature sensor chamber has a temperature sensor holder for holding the temperature sensor, wherein the temperature sensor holder is arranged above the opening, and a float switch holder configured to hold a float switch, wherein the float switch holder is arranged on the fan chamber, wherein the float switch holder has a fastening area protruding from the fan housing, wherein the fastening area has a recess, which is designed to receive a float switch and wherein the fastening area has at least one fixing opening, wherein the at least one fixing opening has a wide area and a narrow area for receiving a fixing means of the float switch.
