Description

[0001] The invention relates to a device for connecting a prefab frame to a mounting frame, a frame provided with such a device, and a method for mounting a prefab frame in a mounting frame.

[0002] The use of prefab frames has greatly increased in recent years. Such prefab frames, such as plastic or metal frames, have a number of advantages relative to the traditional, often wooden, frames. A significant advantage of prefab frames is that they are made to size beforehand. It is the case specifically for plastic frames that they are additionally low-maintenance and possess a high degree of insulation.

[0003] When placing prefab frames, mounting frames, which are also referred to as positioning frames, which seal the opening in the cavity wall are first placed. These mounting frames are fastened to the wall by means of screws and form the housing in which the frame is placed. The frame can be inserted into the mounting frame and is provided on the outer side with a peripheral edge which lies against the outer side of the mounting frame. Once the frame has been inserted into the mounting frame, it must be pulled tightly thereagainst (as much as possible) so that the peripheral edge seals against the mounting frame. During pulling tight, screws are then screwed through the frame and into the mounting frame in order to fix the frame relative to the mounting frame.

[0004] A drawback of this manner of mounting and fixation is that a cold bridge, which results in heat loss, is formed in that the screw protrudes through both the frame and the mounting frame in the cavity.

[0005] A further drawback is that the glass must be removed from the frame in situ in order to enable the screws to be arranged. This is time-consuming and labour-intensive. In addition, it is the case that lifting and displacing of the glass, especially in the case of larger and / or thicker glass, is not without risk in terms of health and safety.

[0006] The object of the invention is to obviate or at least reduce the above stated drawbacks by providing an improved device for connecting a prefab frame, preferably a plastic frame, to a mounting frame.

[0007] For this purpose the invention provides a mounting device for fixing a prefab frame and a mounting frame relative to each other, the mounting device comprising: a base body which extends in a first direction and which is operatively connectable to one of the mounting frame or the prefab frame; and at least one clamping element which is connected operatively to the base body and which is movable relative to the base body and can be brought into engagement with the other of the prefab frame or the mounting frame in order to pull the prefab frame tightly against and clamp it in the mounting frame.

[0008] In the context of this application the device is also referred to as frame bracket, frame anchor, mounting bracket, frame pulling unit, frame clamping unit, frame locking element or frame hook, and these terms are therefore freely interchangeable in the context of the invention.

[0009] In the further application frame refers in most cases to a prefab frame. The mounting device according to the invention described in the application is applicable to prefab frames from a variety of materials, such as plastic, metal, particularly steel and / or aluminium, composite materials and also prefab wooden frames.

[0010] It is further noted that the term 'mounting frame' refers to a profile, often a standard profile, which is arranged in an opening of a wall in order to enable a window or door to be placed and fastened therein. This profile can be a separate profile, for instance a plastic, wooden or metal profile, but can also be a profile or part of the existing wall, such as (masonry) bricks, profiles of a (more or less supportive) steel structure or (sandwich) wall elements.

[0011] An advantage of the device according to the invention is that the absence of a screw in the frame prevents a cold bridge from being formed. The device according to the invention thereby contributes to an improved insulating value of the window as a whole. Entry of (rain) water into the frame is also substantially prevented. This is particularly relevant in plastic and metal frames.

[0012] A further advantage of the device according to the invention is that the prefab frame can be placed and secured to the mounting frame including the glass, without the glass having to be removed.

[0013] Yet another advantage is that the device according to the invention exerts a pulling force on the prefab frame during use, whereby the prefab frame is pulled inward relative to the mounting frame and the wall. This is achieved in that the base body and the clamping element move relative to each other and thereby pull the prefab frame tight in inward direction. The necessary pulling tight of the prefab frame is hereby performed simultaneously to the fixing thereof in the mounting frame. This results in a time saving during placing and ensures that the prefab frame can be placed more easily.

[0014] An additional advantage is that the mounting device according to the invention can be secured with a predetermined torque, whereby damage to the mounting frame and / or the frame is substantially prevented.

[0015] Yet another advantage of the device according to the invention is that it is not visible on one of the visible sides of the prefab frame after mounting. An improved finish of the prefab frame is hereby achieved.

[0016] Another advantage is that movable windows, such as tilt, side hung or turn windows, can already be adjusted at the production location. This is achieved in that, other than with conventional mounting devices and mounting methods, the movable part need not be removed in order to place the frame.

[0017] It is partly because removal of the glass and / or the movable part of the window is no longer necessary with the mounting device according to the invention that work can take place more quickly and easily, for instance owing to the use of mechanical positioning and placing robots. Placing of the frame is here performed mechanically, after which only the mounting devices need be operated by a person. This also results in improved working conditions, since heavy lifting can be substantially prevented. Health and safety rules are therefore (better) complied with hereby.

[0018] For the sake of completeness it is noted that the mounting device according to the invention can be used for both window frames and door frames, wherein these are preferably prefab windows or doors.

[0019] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the mounting device is placeable between the mounting frame and the prefab frame, such that the mounting device is substantially invisible on one of the visible sides of the prefab frame.

[0020] An advantage of this embodiment is that the device(s) are not visible on one of the visible sides of the prefab frame after mounting, whereby an improved finish of the prefab frame is achieved. The visible sides are formed here by surfaces extending parallel to the glass (and each other) on the inner and outer side of the window frame.

[0021] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the clamping element is movable substantially in a first direction relative to the base body, wherein the prefab frame is fixed in the mounting frame by clamping.

[0022] The movement of the clamping element preferably takes place at least in a first direction, wherein the first direction is an insertion direction of the prefab frame into the mounting frame. In most cases this direction is thereby a direction from outside to inside, since prefab frames are placed from the outside. In other words, the insertion direction is a direction lying substantially at right angles to the glass surface of the frame during mounting and use of the window (in closed state).

[0023] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the base body is configured to connect to the mounting frame and the at least one clamping part is configured to engage on and connect to the window frame.

[0024] An advantage of arranging the base body on the mounting frame is that this can be performed prior to insertion of the prefab frame. A further advantage of plastic frames in particular is that plastic frames are traditionally provided with a number of edges and / or grooves which are eminently suitable for engagement by the clamping element. A separate groove or edge need hereby not be arranged on the mounting frame.

[0025] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the mounting device can further comprise a connecting element which connects the base body and the clamping element to each other and which is configured to displace the base body and the clamping element relative to each other.

[0026] In other words, the connecting element is configured to realize the relative movement between the base body and the clamping element.

[0027] An advantage of the connecting element is that it realizes the relative movement between the base body and the clamping element in simple manner. The connecting element can be realized in diverse ways. It is the case here that the functionality is of primary concern and the connecting element must be suitable for displacing the two parts relative to each other. The connecting element is preferably also suitable for fixing the base body and the clamping element at the position reached following displacement.

[0028] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the mounting device can further comprise a base body connecting element which is configured to connect the base body to a mounting frame or a prefab frame.

[0029] An advantage of one or more base body connecting elements is that the base body can hereby be connected to the mounting frame or, alternatively, the prefab frame, in simple manner.

[0030] A base body connecting element can take diverse forms, such as for instance a screw opening in the base body with corresponding screw / screws, an adhesive band or strip, or an opening for nailing with corresponding nails. In an embodiment use can likewise be made of a snap connection, if the object which is being connected to is provided with a suitable connector (such as a male-female snap connection).

[0031] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the mounting device can be movable between an unconnected position, in which the prefab frame is not fixed relative to the mounting frame, and a connected position in which the prefab frame is fixed relative to the mounting frame.

[0032] An advantage of this embodiment is that the mounting device can firstly be connected to one of the mounting frame or the prefab frame, and only then be moved to the connected position in which an engagement with the other of the prefab frame or the mounting frame is achieved. This means that placing is facilitated thereby.

[0033] It is otherwise the case that the connected position need not be a single position. The mounting device is preferably continuously adjustable, so that the mounting device is applicable in different types and brands of prefab frame. This means that the clamping (and thereby the connected position) is brought about at the moment that the clamping element hits the groove or edge of the frame in question.

[0034] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the mounting device can be releasably connectable to both the mounting frame and the prefab frame.

[0035] An advantage of this embodiment is that the element is reusable and, after removal, can be used in a subsequent window frame. An improved sustainability is hereby achieved.

[0036] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the mounting device can further comprise a locking element which is configured to fix the mounting device in a position, wherein the position is preferably the connected position.

[0037] An advantage of a locking element is that a good locking is achieved therewith. A wider range of connecting elements can hereby be applied.

[0038] A further advantage is that the locking element is switchable relatively easily between the locking position and an unlocked position, whereby releasing the prefab frame from the mounting frame is facilitated in the event that replacement is required. Application of the locking element also enables the connecting element to take a continuously adjustable form.

[0039] In an embodiment of the mounting device the fixing can be performed by moving the base body and the clamping element relative to each other such that the prefab frame is pulled tight relative to the mounting frame.

[0040] The movement of the clamping element (relative to the base body) preferably takes place in an insertion direction of the prefab frame into the mounting frame. In most cases this direction is thereby a direction from outside to inside, since prefab frames are placed from the outside. During placing of the base body onto the mounting frame it is the case that the clamping element is moved inward relative to the mounting frame during mounting. Because the clamping element engages on the prefab frame, this is also moved or pulled inward. This fixes the prefab frame relative to the mounting frame in second and third direction, which are both substantially perpendicular to the first direction. This additionally achieves that the prefab frame is pulled against the mounting frame in the first direction, this achieving a good seal between the two.

[0041] In other words, the prefab frame is pulled against the mounting frame in the insertion direction, which is a direction lying substantially at right angles to the glass surface of the frame during mounting.

[0042] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the base body can form an elongate element.

[0043] An advantage of an elongate element is that it forms a strong, inflexible connection when connected to one of the frames. This prevents deformation of the base body during mounting, and particularly the relative movement between base body and clamping element.

[0044] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the base body is a substantially plate-like element, more preferably a metal plate.

[0045] An advantage of a plate-like element, and especially a metal plate, is that it has a high degree of robustness and deformation resistance.

[0046] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the base body is a substantially plate-like element, more preferably a plastic plate or plastic strip.

[0047] An advantage of using plastic for the base body is that it is a robust material which is not susceptible to oxidation. A further advantage is that the base body can be manufactured in simple and inexpensive manner.

[0048] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the base body is provided with a recess, and the connecting element is arranged at least partially in the recess.

[0049] An advantage of arranging the connecting element partially in the base body is that the height of the mounting device is reduced. A more compact mounting device is realized hereby. A further advantage is that the connecting element is less susceptible to damage.

[0050] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the base body is provided with a recess, and the clamping element is arranged at least partially in the recess.

[0051] An advantage of arranging the clamping element partially in the base body is that the height of the mounting device is reduced. A more compact mounting device is realized hereby.

[0052] A further advantage is that, if the connecting element is also arranged at least partially in the base body, the moveable connection is substantially shielded. This prevents damage and contamination during mounting.

[0053] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the base body and the clamping element are both connected to the connecting element.

[0054] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the clamping element can be provided with a proximal outer end connected operatively to the base body and with a distal outer end lying opposite the proximal outer end and configured to engage on the prefab frame or the mounting frame, wherein the distal outer end extends away from the base body at an angle to the first direction.

[0055] An advantage of applying the angle of the distal outer end relative to the base body is that the clamping element becomes bendable, particularly resilient, to some extent. The frame can hereby be placed over the clamping element more easily before the mounting device is brought into the connected position.

[0056] A further advantage is that more space is provided for displacing the base body and the clamping element relative to each other.

[0057] In a preferred embodiment the proximally situated outer end extends substantially parallel to the base body and to the frame to which the base body is connected.

[0058] The proximally situated outer end is received substantially in the base body and extends therein parallel to the frame. The proximally situated outer end preferably extends substantially parallel to both the mounting frame and the prefab frame. A low overall height is hereby achieved, and it is simultaneously ensured that the mounting device is practically invisible on the visible side or sides of the frame.

[0059] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the clamping element can be a plate-like element.

[0060] An advantage of the plate-like element, for instance a metal plate-like element, is that it can be manufactured in relatively simple manner. A further advantage is that a plate-like element can engage on an edge and / or in a groove of a prefab frame (or mounting frame) in simple manner.

[0061] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the clamping element can comprise a projection base and a plurality of projections connected operatively to the projection base, wherein at least one of the projections is configured to engage on the prefab frame or the mounting frame and wherein the projections extend away from the base body at an angle to the first direction.

[0062] An advantage of this embodiment is that, owing to the use of a plurality of clamping projections, the mounting device can be applied in a great diversity of types and brands of prefab frame. It has been found in practice that the edges and / or grooves in the prefab frame are arranged at different locations in different types and / or brands. With the plurality of clamping projections it is the case that use can be made of one of the projections which is suitable for that specific type or brand of prefab frame.

[0063] A further advantage is that, in some cases, a plurality of projections engage on different edges in a frame, this increasing the pulling and clamping force still further.

[0064] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the connecting element can be a screw or bolt with external screw thread, and the clamping element and / or the base body can be provided with internal screw thread.

[0065] An advantage of a bolt or screw as connecting element is that it forms the connection between base body and clamping element and simultaneously also realizes the relative displacement therebetween. The rotation of the screw or the bolt has the result that the clamping element can be moved relative to the base body, wherein the movement takes place along the longitudinal axis of the screw or bolt.

[0066] A further advantage of a bolt or screw as connecting element is that it is continuously adjustable in that the displacement is realized by the screw rotations.

[0067] A further advantage is that the internal screw thread and the external screw thread are in this embodiment configured to co-act with each other in order to realize the relative movement between the base body and the clamping element, and thereby achieve clamping of the prefab frame in the mounting frame.

[0068] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the connecting element can be elongate and be provided with teeth, and wherein the clamping element and / or the base body are provided with teeth which co-act with the teeth of the connecting element in order to achieve the relative movement between prefab frame and mounting frame.

[0069] An advantage of using teeth as connecting element is that the form the connection between base body and clamping element and simultaneously also realize the relative displacement therebetween. The clamping element can be moved relative to the base body, wherein every movement (in the longitudinal direction) of the teeth on the clamping element relative to the teeth on the base body provides for a further displacement and clamping. A further advantage of using teeth is that they form a very robust connection.

[0070] The teeth are here configured to co-act with each other in order to realize the relative movement between the base body and the clamping element and thereby bring about clamping of the prefab frame in the mounting frame.

[0071] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the base body can be provided with one or more screw holes for the purpose of connecting the base body to the mounting frame or the prefab frame.

[0072] The base body can be connected to a frame in simple and effective manner using screws, bolts or, in some cases, wire nails.

[0073] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the device can be manufactured at least partially from one or more of plastic, preferably glass fibre- or carbon fibre-reinforced plastic, or metal, preferably aluminium or steel, more preferably stainless steel.

[0074] An advantage of the above stated materials is that they have sufficient strength to resist the forces acting on the material (without damage or deformation). A combination of the above stated materials is of course also possible.

[0075] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the base body can be provided with a positioning aid which is arranged on a side to be connected to a mounting frame or frame, wherein the positioning help is preferably an adhesive or glue strip with limited adhesive force, so that the base body can be pulled loose and re-placed, if desired.

[0076] An advantage is that the base body (and thereby the mounting device) can be placed temporarily so that the positioning can be assessed, after which the mounting device can be further connected with more permanent connecting means.

[0077] In an embodiment of the mounting device according to the invention the device can be provided with a resetting device which is configured to guide the clamping element to a retracted position, such that the clamping element extends substantially in or parallel to the base body.

[0078] Arranging a resetting device, such as for instance a guide or a slide element, enables the clamping element to be placed into or parallel to the base body. Dismounting of the prefab frame can hereby be performed (even) more simply.

[0079] The invention further relates to a window assembly comprising: a prefab window frame which can be placed into the mounting frame; and at least one mounting device according to any one of the foregoing claims.

[0080] The window assembly according to the invention has the same advantages and effects as the mounting device according to the invention. The embodiments as described for the mounting device according to the invention can also be freely applied, individually or in combination, in the window assembly according to the invention.

[0081] An advantage of the window assembly is that the mounting time of the window assembly can be shortened considerably, particularly by application of the one or more mounting devices.

[0082] A further advantage is that a pane or window made to size beforehand need no longer be removed from the prefab frame in order to enable placing. This is achieved in that the use of screws to connect the prefab frame to the mounting frame is no longer necessary.

[0083] In an embodiment of the window assembly according to the invention the window assembly can further comprise a mounting frame.

[0084] In an embodiment of the window assembly according to the invention the window frame can be provided with a covering edge which extends along at least two opposite sides of the prefab frame and which is configured to be placed against a side of the mounting frame extending transversely of the first direction.

[0085] It has been found in practice that many prefab frames are provided with a covering edge which is intended to seal the prefab frame against the mounting frame. This covering edge is applied in the window assembly according to the invention in order to pull the prefab frame tightly against the mounting frame by means of the one or more mounting devices in order to bring about the seal and the mutual fixation.

[0086] In an embodiment of the window assembly according to the invention the covering edge can be clamped against the mounting frame in an installed position of the prefab frame.

[0087] In an embodiment of the window assembly according to the invention the prefab frame can be provided on a side directed toward the mounting frame with a groove or edge, and wherein the at least one clamping element of the at least one mounting device is configured to engage on the groove or edge.

[0088] An advantage of a groove or edge is that the one or more mounting devices can engage on the prefab frame in simple manner, and the clamping and fixation can be realized in simple manner.

[0089] In an embodiment of the window assembly according to the invention the at least one clamping element of the at least one mounting device is in engagement with the groove or edge of the prefab frame in an installed and / or mounted position of the prefab frame, and the at least one mounting device is in a connected position.

[0090] In an embodiment of the window assembly according to the invention the window assembly comprises at least one pair of mounting devices which are configured to co-act with each other, wherein one of the pair of mounting devices is configured to engage on the frame in order to exert an inward force and the other of the pair of mounting devices is configured to engage on the frame and exert an outward force.

[0091] An advantage of this window assembly is that, owing to the use of a pair of mounting devices placed in opposite directions, prefab frames without covering edge can also be placed with the mounting devices. It is noted here that the terms 'inward' and 'outward' are seen in a direction perpendicularly of a window or door in the closed, installed state.

[0092] The invention further relates to a prefab window comprising: a mounting frame which is arranged in an opening in a wall and which forms an insertion opening; a prefab frame which is arranged the mounting frame; and a number of mounting devices according to any one of the foregoing claims 1 - 10, which are arranged between the mounting frame and the prefab frame, wherein the base body is connected to the mounting frame and the clamping element engages on the prefab frame, and wherein the mounting devices are in the connected position.

[0093] The prefab window according to the invention has the same advantages and effects as the mounting device and the window assembly according to the invention. The embodiments as described for the mounting device and the window assembly according to the invention can also be freely applied, individually or in combination, in the prefab window according to the invention.

[0094] In an embodiment of the prefab window according to the invention the clamping element and the base body of the mounting devices are moved relative to each other in the connected position such that the prefab frame is pulled tightly against the mounting frame and is clamped therein.

[0095] In an installed state of the prefab frame the one or more mounting devices result in the prefab frame being pulled tight in an insertion or installation direction. This is realized by the relative movement of the base body and the clamping element.

[0096] The one or more mounting devices simultaneously also have the result that the prefab frame is fixed in the mounting frame in that movement in directions other than the insertion or installation direction is likewise blocked.

[0097] An advantage of the mounting devices in the prefab window is thereby that they realize both the fixation and the necessary sealing force in the insertion or installation direction, as well as the fixation in directions other than the insertion or installation direction. These other directions are then a lateral and / or a vertical movement of the prefab frame (relative to the mounting frame).

[0098] The invention further relates to a wall provided with at least one prefab window according to the invention.

[0099] The wall according to the invention has the same advantages and effects as the mounting device, the window assembly and the prefab window according to the invention. The embodiments as described for the mounting device, the window assembly and / or the prefab window according to the invention can also be freely applied, individually or in combination, in the wall according to the invention.

[0100] The invention further relates to a conversion kit for replacing an existing frame with a new prefab frame, the conversion kit comprising a prefab frame to be placed and a number of mounting devices according to the invention.

[0101] The conversion kit according to the invention has the same advantages and effects as the mounting device, the window assembly, the prefab window and the wall according to the invention. The embodiments as described for the mounting device, the window assembly, the prefab window and / or the wall according to the invention can also be freely applied, individually or in combination, in the conversion kit according to the invention.

[0102] The invention further relates to a method for mounting a prefab frame in a mounting frame, the method comprising the steps of: providing a window assembly according to the invention; connecting the base body of the at least one mounting device to the mounting frame; inserting the prefab frame into the mounting frame in a first direction. bringing the clamping element into engagement with the prefab frame; and moving the clamping element relative to the base body in the first direction, such that the prefab frame is clamped in the mounting frame.

[0103] The method according to the invention has the same advantages and effects as the mounting device, the window assembly, the prefab window, the wall and the conversion kit according to the invention. The embodiments as described for the mounting device, the window assembly, the prefab window, the wall and / or the conversion kit according to the invention can also be freely applied, individually or in combination, in the method according to the invention.

[0104] An advantage of the method is that moving the clamping element relative to the base body in the first direction (also referred to as insertion or installation direction) has the result that, owing to the engagement of the clamping element with the prefab frame, the prefab frame is pulled tightly against the mounting frame. This results not only in a good seal in the first or insertion direction, but also in fixation of the two relative to each other in other directions, such as a lateral and / or vertical direction.

[0105] A further advantage is that the mounting time is greatly reduced with the method according to the invention. On one hand, this is because removal and re-placing of the window from the prefab frame is no longer necessary, and on the other in that the use of the mounting devices also results in fixation and alignment of the prefab frame in the mounting frame.

[0106] In an embodiment of the method according to the invention the prefab frame can be provided with a covering edge, and wherein the step of moving the clamping element relative to the base body in the first direction comprises of pulling the covering edge of the prefab frame against the mounting frame, preferably with a predetermined force.

[0107] It has been found in practice that many prefab frames are provided with a covering edge which is intended to seal the prefab frame against the mounting frame. An advantage of the method according to the invention is that this covering edge is pulled directly against the mounting frame with the one or more mounting devices in order to achieve the seal, while the prefab frame is simultaneously fixed in the mounting frame.

[0108] In an embodiment of the method according to the invention the prefab frame can be provided on a side directed toward the mounting frame with a groove or edge and the step of bringing the clamping element into engagement with the prefab frame can comprise the step of placing the at least one clamping element of the at least one mounting device in the groove or edge of the clamping element.

[0109] The invention further relates to a method for dismounting a prefab frame provided with one or more mounting devices according to the invention, wherein the method comprises the steps of: moving the clamping element in the first direction relative to the base body, such that the clamping of the prefab frame in the mounting frame is discontinued; releasing the engagement of the clamping element on the prefab frame manually or with a tool; removing the prefab frame from the mounting frame; and optionally removing the one or more mounting devices.

[0110] An advantage of the above stated method is that the prefab frame can also be removed in simple manner.

[0111] The dismounting method according to the invention has the same advantages and effects as the mounting device, the window assembly, the prefab window, the wall and the conversion kit according to the invention. [0113] In a first example (see figures 1, 2a - 2c) mounting device 2 is provided with base body 4, clamping element 6 and connecting element 8. In this example base body 4 is a plate-like element 4 with a certain thickness W extending along a longitudinal axis A over a length L in first direction x. Base body 4 is provided with a recess 10 in which a part of clamping element 6 is positioned. Clamping element 6 is arranged movably relative to base body 4 and is (partially) movable in recess 10 in direction of movement B. A part of connecting element 8 further also extends in recess 10. Base body 4 is provided on front and rear side 12, 14 with respective openings 16, 18 through which connecting element 8 can extend. Base body 4 is further provided with screw holes 5 in which screws can be arranged in order to fasten base body 4 onto a mounting frame or prefab frame (not shown).

[0114] Clamping element 6 extends from proximal part 20, which is positioned in recess 10, to distal outer end 22 which is situated some distance from base body 4, as seen in a second direction z. For this purpose clamping element 6 is provided with a curve which is arranged roughly halfway along clamping element 6 in this example. In this example clamping element 6 is further provided with supports 24 which are situated in recess 10 and on which distal outer end 22 supports. In this example supports 24 are situated in rail or guide 25 and form resetting device 27. Clamping element 6 is connected operatively to connecting element 8 and can be moved relative to base body 4 by rotation of connecting element 8.

[0115] Following installation and / or use, mounting device 2 can be released by loosening connecting element 8. This moves clamping element 6 toward base element 4, wherein resetting device 27 provides for the guiding of clamping element 6. Clamping element 6 is received (almost wholly) in base body 4, whereby clamping element 6 comes away from the window or the door. An installed window or an installed door can thus be easily dismounted.

[0116] In a second example (see figures 3, 4a, 4b) mounting device 102 is provided with base body 104, clamping element 106 and connecting element 108. In this example base body 104 is a plate-like element 4 of metal which extends along a longitudinal axis A over a length L in first direction x. Base body 104 is provided with a recess 110 in which a connecting element holder 126 of clamping element 106 is positioned. Clamping element 106 is arranged movably relative to base body 104 and is movable in direction of movement B. A part of connecting element 108 further also extends in recess 110. Base body 104 is further provided with screw holes 105 in which screws can be arranged in order to fasten base body 104 onto a mounting frame or prefab frame (not shown). Base body 104 is further provided with connecting element holder 128 in which connecting element 108 is arranged in use.

[0117] Clamping element 106 extends from proximal part 120 to distal outer end 122 which is situated some distance from base body 104, as seen in a second direction z. For this purpose clamping element 106 is provided with a curve with angle α which is arranged roughly halfway along clamping element 106 in this example. In this example connecting element 108 is received in connecting element holder 126 of clamping element 106 and in connecting element holder 128 of base body 104. The two connecting element holders 126, 128 are substantially cylindrical and are provided on the inside with (internal) screw thread which co-acts with the external screw thread which is arranged on connecting element 108. In this way clamping element 106 can be displaced in first direction x relative to base body 104 in order to realize an engagement (and thereby clamping) of a prefab frame relative to a mounting frame. It is further shown that distal outer end 122 is in this example provided with optional opening 130 in order to provide sufficient space to enable rotation of connecting part 108.

[0118] In a third example (see figures 5, 5a) mounting device 202 is provided with base body 204 and clamping element 206. In this example base body 204 is a plate-like element 204 with a certain thickness W extending along a longitudinal axis A over a length L in first direction x. Base body 204 is provided with a recess 210 in which a part of clamping element 206 is positioned. Clamping element 206 is arranged movably relative to base body 204 and is movable in direction of movement B. Base body 204 is provided with a protruding part (not shown) into which connecting element 208 protrudes. Base body 204 is provided on front side 212 with opening 216 so that connecting element 208 can be readily accessed and operated. Base body 204 is further provided with a plurality of screw holes 205 in which screws can be arranged in order to fasten base body 204 onto a mounting frame or prefab frame (not shown).

[0119] In this example clamping element 206 is formed from projection base 232 and a plurality of projections 234. Projection base 232 extends substantially parallel to base body 204 and is movable relative thereto in first direction x (the longitudinal direction). Projections 234 extend at an angle α to first direction x from projection base 232 toward projection end 236 which is situated at a distance from projection base 232 and base body 234, as seen in second direction z. Each or one of the projection ends 236 can engage on a groove or edge of a frame (not shown). Projection base 232 is further provided with a connecting element holder 238 through which connecting part 208 extends at least partially.

[0120] In an example of window assembly 300 (see figures 6, 7, 8a - 8c) window assembly 300 is provided with mounting frame 340 mounting device 2, 102, 202, 302 which is secured to mounting frame 340. Window assembly 300 further comprises plastic window 344 which is provided with glass 342 and is placeable (figure 6) or has been placed (figure 7) in the opening formed by mounting frame 340. In this embodiment prefab frame 344 is provided with peripheral edge 346 which lies against mounting frame 340 on the outer side and, in mounted state, seals thereagainst (on the outer side of the window) by means of seal 345, this being rubber 345 in this case (see figure 7). Prefab frame 344 is further provided with edge 348 which is formed in the side edge of prefab frame 344, wherein distal outer end 322 of clamping element 306 is in engagement with edge 348. Prefab frame 344 is here pulled inward relative to mounting frame 340 in first direction x and fixed by tightening connecting element 308 (not shown). This enables the relative movement of base body 304 and clamping element 306. Peripheral edge 346 is hereby pulled tightly against the outer side of mounting frame 340, while prefab frame 344 is simultaneously fixed relative to mounting frame 340 in the other directions z, y. A mounting device 302 is preferably arranged at least on each side of prefab frame 344.

[0121] In use of mounting device 2, 102, 202, 302 according to the invention (see figures 8a, 8b, 8c) it is preferably secured to mounting frame 340 of window assembly 300. The securing is performed by securing base body 304 to mounting frame 340, for instance with screws (not shown). Prefab frame 344 is then placed in the opening formed by mounting frame 340 in insertion direction I (see figure 6). In this embodiment prefab frame 344 is provided with peripheral edge 346 which lies against mounting frame 340 on the outer side and, in mounted state, seals thereagainst (on the outer side of the window) (see figure 7). Prefab frame 334 is further provided with edge 346 which is formed in the side edge of prefab frame 344 and on which distal outer end 322 of clamping element 306 can engage. After placing of prefab frame 344 in said opening, the connecting element (not shown) is tightened so that distal outer end 322 of clamping element 306 is in engagement with edge 346. Following engagement, connecting element 308 is tightened further so that prefab frame 344 is pulled inward relative to mounting frame 340 in first direction x and is fixed. Peripheral edge 346 is here pulled tightly against the outer side of mounting frame 340 (see figures 7, 8c), while prefab frame 344 is simultaneously fixed relative to mounting frame 340 in the other directions z, y. A mounting device 302 is preferably arranged at least on each side of prefab frame 344.

[0122] In an example of window assembly 400 (see figures 10 and 11) window assembly 400 is provided with mounting frame 440 and mounting devices 402, 402', which are both secured to mounting frame 440. Window assembly 400 further comprises plastic window 444 which is provided with glass 442 and is placed in the opening formed by mounting frame 440. In this example plastic window 444 is a window without covering edge. In order to fix plastic window 444 in mounting frame 440 use is made of a pair of mounting devices 402, 402'. First mounting device 402 of the pair of mounting devices 402, 402' is connected with base part 404 to mounting frame 440 and has an inward-directed clamping element 406. In this example clamping element 406 engages on protrusion or edge 448 of plastic window 444 and so exerts an inward pressure. In order to secure plastic window 444 in the opening use is made of second mounting device 402' of the pair of mounting devices 402, 402'. Second mounting device 402' is connected with base part 404' to mounting frame 440 and is provided with clamping element 406' which is directed outward and can exert an outward force on edge or protrusion 448' on which clamping element 406' engages. As can be seen in figure 11, mounting device 202 and mounting device 202' are placed offset relative to each other in width direction y. By pulling tight the two mounting devices 402, 402' plastic window 444 is fixed in mounting frame 440. This results in an `equilibrium' between the two mounting devices 202, 202'.

[0123] In an embodiment of a method 1000 according to the invention (see figure 9) method 1000 for mounting a prefab frame in a mounting frame comprises the step of providing 1002 a window assembly according to the invention. A further step is connecting 1004 the base body of the at least one mounting device to the mounting frame and inserting 1006 the prefab frame into the mounting frame in a first direction. In this example method 1000 further comprises the step of bringing the clamping element into engagement 1008 with the prefab frame, and moving 1010 the clamping element in the first direction relative to the base body, such that the prefab frame is clamped in the mounting frame. If the prefab frame is provided with a covering edge, step 1010 can in this example optionally comprise the step of pulling 1012 the covering edge of the prefab frame against the mounting frame.

[0124] If the prefab frame is provided on a side directed toward the mounting frame with a groove or edge, step 1008 can further optionally provide the step of placing 1014 at least one clamping element of the at least one mounting device in the groove or edge.
