Description

[0001] Liquid separation device for a compressor system and

[0002] Compressor system with such a liquid separation device

[0003] The present invention relates to a liquid separation device for a compressor system and a compressor system with such a liquid separation device.

[0004] In oil-lubricated compressors, such as oil-lubricated screw compressors, the oil used for lubrication and cooling is separated after the compression process using suitable oil separators to prevent it from entering the downstream compressed air system. The separated oil is then returned to the compressor, for example, the screw block in oil-lubricated screw compressors.

[0005] In current state-of-the-art configurations of such a compressor system, the compressed oil-air flow in oil-lubricated screw compressors encounters a coalescing filter, on whose clean side the separated oil is drawn via the pressure gradient to the injection point on the screw block. The oil separator forms an integral part of the compressor housing and is installed directly within it. The oil is returned to the screw block via an external return line that must be routed around the compressor housing. This external return line not only requires appropriate installation space but must also be removed during maintenance.

[0006] To prevent oil from flowing back into the coalescing filter when the compressor is shut down, a check valve is installed in the return line. Furthermore, an additional nozzle must be installed in the return line to limit compressor air losses, as the clean side of the coalescing filter contains predominantly air and relatively small amounts of oil. Due to the location of the check valve and nozzle in the external return line, the check valve and nozzle are exposed to corresponding ambient temperatures, so there is a risk of the check valve and / or nozzle freezing at low temperatures, for example.

[0007] In addition, the oil extraction on the clean air side of the coalescing filter must be achieved via an additional riser pipe. This arrangement creates the risk of a permanent air leak. Furthermore, residual oil can remain below the dip pipe, which can then be introduced into the compressed air system.

[0008] In view of the above statements, it is therefore the object of the present invention to provide a liquid separation device which is improved compared to the prior art, in particular with regard to a liquid return which is as low-loss, cost-effective and process-reliable as possible.

[0009] This problem is solved by the subject matter of the independent claims. Advantageous further developments are the subject matter of the dependent claims.

[0010] According to the invention, a liquid separation device for a compressor system comprises at least one coarse separation unit, which has at least one coarse separator and one liquid removal device, at least one fine separation unit, which has at least one fine separator and one liquid removal device, and at least one liquid removal channel, which drains a liquid from the respective liquid removal devices. The at least one liquid removal channel is formed in the liquid separation device.

[0011] The liquid separation device serves to separate a liquid from a liquid-gas volume flow of the compressor system. For example, the liquid separation device downstream of an oil-lubricated compressor, such as an oil-lubricated screw compressor, can separate oil from an oil-air volume flow. In such a case, the liquid separation device is an oil separation device that separates the oil from the compressed compressed air. Alternatively, other liquids, such as those used for cooling and / or lubricating the compressor, can also be separated. Likewise, a gas other than air can be compressed by the compressor.

[0012] The liquid separation device is designed as a multi-stage liquid separation device comprising at least one coarse separation unit and one fine separation unit, i.e., at least two stages. The multi-stage design of the liquid separation device can, for example, increase the separation efficiency. The multi-stage design can also have a positive effect on the service life of the individual separators used, especially fine separators.

[0013] For example, a baffle plate can be used as a coarse separator in the coarse separation unit, onto which the liquid-gas volume flow introduced into the coarse separation unit is initially directed at a comparatively high speed. Other designs for coarse separators include cyclone separators or meshes, e.g., wire mesh. The liquid-gas volume flow, from which liquid has already been separated in the coarse separation unit, can then be passed on to the fine separation unit. The fine separation unit, for example, has a coalescence filter as a fine separator, on the outlet side of which liquid is again separated from the liquid-gas volume flow. However, in the sense of multi-stage separation, the coarse separation unit and the fine separation unit do not necessarily have to differ in the type of coarse and fine separator. For example, a multi-stage separation system can also comprise identical or at least similar separation units, whereby the term "coarse separation unit" then refers to the fact that the liquid / gas volume flow contains even larger quantities of liquid than the fine separation unit. The separation units are thus run through serially, with the proportion of liquid in the liquid / gas volume flow decreasing sequentially, i.e., from the coarse separation unit to the fine separation unit. Both the coarse separation unit and the fine separation unit each contain at least one liquid extraction device, which is arranged in a drip direction relative to the respective separator to collect the separated liquid.

[0014] In order to drain the liquid collected in the respective liquid extraction device, at least one liquid extraction channel is provided, which extends from the respective liquid extraction device in at least one first drainage direction. This first drainage direction can, for example, be directed downwards in the direction of gravitational force in order to be able to initially drain the liquid safely due to gravity. The further course of the respective liquid extraction channel can then deviate from the first drainage direction. The at least one liquid extraction channel can be designed as a return channel, which returns the separated liquid to a liquid reservoir for further use and / or treatment. For example, the separated oil can be fed back into a screw block of an oil-lubricated screw compressor via this channel.

[0015] The at least one liquid extraction channel is formed in the liquid separation device so that the liquid is guided within the liquid separation device. Since external liquid lines can be dispensed with, at least in the area of the liquid separation device, a more compact design is enabled by internal liquid guidance. The at least one liquid extraction channel is also protected from external influences by the liquid separation device. Likewise, components arranged in the at least one liquid extraction channel, such as a backflow prevention device and / or nozzle described later, can be protected in this way, for example to prevent them from freezing. Furthermore, the effort required for maintenance can be reduced because no or fewer external lines need to be dismantled prior to maintenance.

[0016] In one embodiment, the at least one liquid extraction channel is formed by a housing of the liquid separation device. Accordingly, the at least one liquid extraction channel can be formed directly during the manufacture of the housing of the liquid separation device. For example, the at least one liquid extraction channel can be incorporated as a cast part during the manufacture of the housing of the liquid separation device. Alternatively or additionally, the at least one liquid extraction channel can be formed by bores.

[0017] Alternatively or additionally, it is also possible to form at least sections of the at least one liquid removal channel in the liquid separation device by at least one separate liquid removal channel line.

[0018] In one embodiment, the at least one liquid removal channel is designed at least such that it has two channel sections, of which the at least one channel section is fluidically connected to the liquid removal device of the coarse separation unit and the at least one other channel section is fluidically connected to the liquid removal device of the fine separation unit.

[0019] According to such an embodiment, the separated liquids from the coarse separation unit and the fine separation unit are combined via the channel sections in a liquid removal channel.

[0020] Alternatively, the liquid separation device has at least two liquid removal channels, of which the at least one liquid removal channel is fluidically connected to the liquid removal device of the coarse separation unit and the at least one other liquid removal channel is fluidically connected to the liquid removal device of the fine separation unit.

[0021] Accordingly, a separate liquid extraction channel is provided for the coarse separation unit and the fine separation unit.

[0022] In particular, in an advantageous embodiment, at least one backflow prevention device is arranged in each of the at least two channel sections or in each of the at least two liquid extraction channels. The backflow prevention device is configured to prevent backflow from the at least two channel sections or the at least two liquid channels into the respective liquid extraction device connected thereto.

[0023] The backflow prevention device can, for example, be designed as a check valve.

[0024] According to a further development, at least one backflow prevention device is arranged in each of the at least two channel sections or in each of the at least two liquid removal channels. The backflow prevention device assigned to one of the at least two channel sections or to one of the at least two liquid removal channels has a different response behavior than the backflow prevention device assigned to the other of the at least two channel sections or to the other of the at least two liquid removal channels.

[0025] For example, different pressure conditions may prevail in the coarse separation unit and the fine separation unit. By using at least one backflow prevention device in the liquid extraction channels or channel sections assigned to the liquid extraction device of the coarse separation unit and the liquid extraction device of the fine separation unit, the corresponding backflow prevention device can be adapted to the prevailing pressure conditions. Alternatively, the respective backflow prevention devices of the coarse separation unit and the fine separation unit, such as corresponding check valves, can also be designed identically. This can reduce the number of different components to be installed and the risk of incorrect installation.

[0026] In one embodiment, at least one nozzle is arranged in the at least one liquid removal channel or is formed at least in section by the liquid channel. Since not only the separated liquid but also gas from the respective separation unit can be discharged via the at least one liquid removal channel, this can lead to corresponding gas losses and thus to a reduction in the efficiency of the compressor system. The nozzle can be used to throttle the liquid or liquid-gas volume flow that potentially still contains the gas, so that gas losses can be reduced. This particularly applies to the liquid removal channel or channel section that leads away from the liquid removal device of the fine separation unit, since here only small amounts of liquid are separated compared to the gas.

[0027] The nozzle can be inserted into the at least one liquid extraction channel as a separate component. Alternatively or additionally, the cross-section of the at least one liquid extraction channel can also be adapted, at least in sections, such that a corresponding throttling is implemented across such a section. This nozzle or nozzle function is thus formed directly over the at least one liquid extraction channel.

[0028] In particular, in an advantageous embodiment, the at least one nozzle is arranged in each of the at least two channel sections or in each of the at least two liquid extraction channels, as described above. The nozzle assigned to one of the at least two channel sections or to one of the at least two liquid extraction channels has a different cross-section than the nozzle assigned to the other of the at least two channel sections or to the other of the at least two liquid extraction channels.

[0029] Comparable to the advantage of using at least one backflow prevention device in the liquid extraction channels or channel sections assigned to the coarse separation unit and the fine separation unit, different pressure conditions in the coarse separation unit and the fine separation unit can be taken into account via similarly assigned nozzles. In other words, the respective nozzles can be adapted to the prevailing pressure conditions. When using at least one backflow prevention device and at least one nozzle in a liquid extraction channel or channel section, the backflow prevention device is preferably arranged upstream of the nozzle in the direction of discharge of the liquid. In particular, the at least one backflow prevention device is provided in the vicinity of the liquid extraction device assigned to it.

[0030] In one embodiment, the backflow prevention device and / or the nozzle is configured to be screwed into the at least one liquid removal channel.

[0031] The backflow prevention device and / or the nozzle can be easily and securely mounted in the at least one liquid extraction channel. Furthermore, this enables easy replacement, for example, in the event of a failure or a change in properties.

[0032] Overall, the above-described arrangement or design of the respective backflow prevention device and / or nozzle enables safe and simple integration into the at least one liquid extraction channel. Furthermore, the respective separation units can be reliably extracted at different pressure levels. By using the respective backflow prevention device and / or nozzle for the coarse separation unit and the fine separation unit, a bypass and thus a liquid inlet from the

[0033] Coarse separation unit on the clean side of the fine separator can be prevented or at least reduced.

[0034] In one embodiment, the backflow prevention device and the nozzle for the respective separation unit are formed by a common flow control device, in particular by a common flow control element.

[0035] The flow control device can accordingly be designed as a pre-assembly group that includes both the backflow prevention device and the nozzle as individual components. In the pre-assembly group, for example, the distances between the backflow prevention device and the nozzle can be adjusted and checked in advance. Furthermore, individual assembly with any necessary testing can be dispensed with, which can reduce assembly effort. However, the flow control device can also include a common flow control element or be designed as a flow control element that combines the functionalities of the backflow prevention device and the nozzle in a single component. The backflow prevention device can therefore be formed integrally with the nozzle in the flow control element.

[0036] In one embodiment, the at least one liquid removal device of the coarse separation unit and / or the at least one liquid removal device of the fine separation unit is arranged in a suitable installation of the liquid separation device below the respective associated separator, in particular in a flow-calmed region of the respective separation unit.

[0037] In other words, the at least one liquid extraction device of the coarse separation unit and / or the at least one liquid extraction device of the fine separation unit are arranged in the respective separation unit in such a way that the liquid separated at the respective separator drips or flows directly into the respective liquid extraction device. This prevents at least the liquid separated at the respective separator from accumulating in locations from which it cannot be drained away.

[0038] By arranging the at least one liquid removal device of the coarse separation unit and / or the at least one liquid removal device of the fine separation unit in a flow-calmed region of the respective separation unit, it is also possible to prevent oil from being entrained by the air flow.

[0039] In one embodiment, the at least one liquid removal device of the coarse separation unit and / or the at least one liquid removal device of the fine separation unit has a liquid outlet to the at least one liquid removal channel, which is located at a lowest point of the at least one liquid removal device of the coarse separation unit and / or the at least one liquid removal device of the fine separation unit in a proper installation of the liquid separation device.

[0040] The separated liquid is thus extracted at the lowest point of the at least one liquid extraction device of the respective separation unit. Consequently, riser pipes are no longer required. This increases process reliability during maintenance, as it prevents, for example, bending of the riser pipe due to collision with another tool. Since risers are usually geometrically pointed, the risk of injury due to the absence of a riser pipe can also be reduced. Furthermore, efficiency can be increased because a prolonged condition in which only air is sucked in as soon as the oil level drops below the lower edge of the extraction device can be avoided.

[0041] In addition, the separated liquid can be completely sucked out, so that liquid entry into other system areas can be avoided.

[0042] In one embodiment, the at least one liquid removal device of the coarse separation unit and / or the at least one liquid removal device of the fine separation unit is designed as a detachable cover for attachment to the housing of the liquid separation device.

[0043] Accordingly, for example, the at least one liquid extraction device of the coarse separation unit and / or the at least one liquid extraction device of the fine separation unit can be easily removed for maintenance purposes and corresponding accessibility of the coarse separation unit and / or fine separation unit without the need to dismantle return lines beforehand. Since the liquid extraction channels are formed adjacent to the respective liquid extraction device through the housing of the liquid separation device, no further bridging is required when dismantling the respective cover. The respective cover can, for example, be screwed into the housing, bolted on, and / or otherwise releasably fastened to or in the housing in a form-fitting and / or force-fitting manner. The connection of the liquid outlet from the cover thus goes directly into the liquid extraction channel of the housing of the liquid separator, so that disassembly of the cover separates the liquid return and reconnects the liquid return when the cover is reassembled.

[0044] To ensure that the respective liquid outlet of the respective cover is covered by the respective assignable liquid channel, an assembly end position can be provided, for example by screwing the cover against a stop, a corresponding drilling pattern or also markings to be aligned on the cover and the housing.

[0045] To ensure a fluid seal between the lid, but also generally between the fluid extraction device or the fluid outlet, and the respective fluid extraction channel, a seal, such as an O-ring, can be arranged on the fluid outlet and / or the fluid extraction channel facing the fluid outlet. This seal creates a fluid-tight seal between the fluid outlet and the fluid extraction channel. Leakage can be prevented accordingly.

[0046] In one embodiment, the at least one liquid extraction channel is designed as a branch line or ring line.

[0047] The branch line can be easily implemented via a bore and enables short distances. Alternatively, the at least one liquid extraction channel can be designed as a ring line, for example, to bridge longer distances. However, the at least one liquid extraction channel can also be composed of branch and ring line sections and, if necessary, additional line sections of a different form. According to a further aspect, the present invention relates to a compressor system comprising a compressor and a liquid separation device as described above. The liquid separation device is arranged outside a housing of the compressor.

[0048] The liquid separation device is therefore external to the compressor. Consequently, the liquid separation device has its own external housing, into which the at least one liquid extraction channel is integrated. The liquid is thus returned from the respective separation units back to the compressor or another discharge destination via the at least one liquid extraction channel inside the housing of the liquid extraction device. The at least one liquid extraction channel is formed, in particular, by the housing wall.

[0049] In one embodiment, a configuration is provided in which the housing of the compressor adjoins the housing of the liquid separation device. In particular, the at least one liquid extraction channel adjoins a suction channel of the compressor.

[0050] As a result, the outlet of at least one liquid extraction channel can be connected directly to a corresponding inlet of the compressor without the need for additional external lines. Alternatively, due to the proximity of the liquid separation device to the compressor, the distance from the housing of the liquid separation device to the compressor housing can be bridged with a very short return line. This can increase the compactness of the compressor and reduce maintenance effort by reducing the number of components. Furthermore, additional protective measures for external lines can be eliminated or reduced to a few lines.

[0051] The features described in the above description of the fluid separation device are equally applicable to the compressor system. Likewise, features described for the compressor system are transferable to the fluid separation device, unless they have already been described for this purpose.

[0052] According to a further aspect, the present invention relates to a rail vehicle with a fluid separation device and / or a compressor system described above.

[0053] The fluid separation device or compressor system enables low-loss, cost-effective, and process-reliable fluid recirculation, which operates reliably even under demanding rail vehicle applications. The requirement for high availability of rail vehicles is also supported by increased ease of maintenance.

[0054] The features described in the above description of the fluid separation device and the compressor system are equally applicable to the rail vehicle. Likewise, features described for the fluid separation device and the compressor system for the rail vehicle are transferable to the latter, unless they have already been described for this purpose.

[0055] An exemplary embodiment of the present invention will be described below with the aid of the accompanying drawings.

[0056] In detail,

[0057] Fig. 1 is a schematic representation of an exemplary embodiment of a compressor system according to the present invention.

[0058] Fig. 1 shows a schematic representation of an exemplary embodiment of a compressor system 1 according to the present invention. The compressor system 1 comprises a compressor 10 with a housing 10a and a liquid separation device 20 with a housing 20a. The housing 10a of the compressor is directly adjacent to the housing 20a of the liquid separation device 20. In the present configuration, the compressor system 1 can also be referred to as a compressor system with a compressor and external liquid separation device. In the exemplary embodiment, the compressor 10 is an oil-lubricated screw compressor for generating compressed air. Accordingly, the liquid separation device 20 is an oil separation device. In alternative embodiments, the medium to be compressed can also be a gas other than air, and the liquid is not limited to oil for lubrication and / or cooling.

[0059] The liquid separation device 20 comprises a coarse separation unit 21 with a coarse separator 21a and a fine separation unit 22 with a fine separator 22a. For example, the coarse separator 21a is designed as a baffle plate and the fine separator 22a as a coalescing filter. A liquid extraction device 21b, 22b is arranged in each of the separation units 21, 22 in the drip direction of the separated liquid, here below the respective separator 21a, 22a. A respective liquid extraction channel 21c, 22c extends from the lowest point, in the drip direction, of the liquid extraction device 21b of the coarse separation unit 21 and the liquid extraction device 22b of the fine separation unit 22.The liquid removal channel 21c of the coarse separation unit 21 drains separated liquid that has collected in the liquid removal device 21b of the coarse separation unit 21 in order to make it available to the compressor 10 again. This occurs analogously for the fine separation unit 22 via the liquid removal channel 22c of the fine separation unit 22. The separated liquid is collected and drained in a flow-calmed area, so that entrainment of the already collected liquid by the flow in the respective separation unit 21, 22 is avoided. The respective liquid removal devices 21b and 22b are designed here as the cover of the respective separation unit 21, 22, which are detachably attached to the housing 20a. The respective connection can be released for maintenance purposes.Since the respective liquid outlet of the liquid extraction devices 21b and 22b is directly adjacent to the respective liquid extraction channels 21c and 22c formed in the housing 20a, the respective separation units 21, 22 can be opened without dismantling further bridging lines.

[0060] The liquid extraction channel 21c of the coarse separation unit 21 has a check valve 21d as a backflow prevention device at its end facing the liquid extraction device 21b. The check valve 21b prevents liquid from flowing from the liquid extraction channel 21c back into the liquid extraction device 21b. Further downstream from the liquid extraction device 21b, a nozzle 21e is also arranged in the liquid extraction channel 21c. The nozzle 21e can throttle the liquid or liquid-gas volume flow potentially still containing gas, so that gas losses can be reduced. The liquid extraction channel 21c is formed here directly in the housing 20a of the liquid separation device 20. The formation takes place here by constructing a corresponding cast part as the housing 20a.In addition, the design of the fluid extraction channel 21c provides threaded sections in the area of the check valve 21d and the nozzle 21e, so that the check valve 21d and the nozzle 21e can be screwed into the fluid extraction channel 21c. Further downstream of the nozzle 21e, the separated fluid is fed directly back to the compressor 10, here a screw block of the screw compressor, via another section of the fluid extraction channel 21c (not shown). The return line takes place within the housings 10a, 20a, eliminating the need for additional external lines.

[0061] The structure of the liquid extraction channel 22c of the fine separation unit, or the arrangement of a check valve 22d as a backflow prevention device and a nozzle 22e for throttling, is analogous to the above explanations regarding the liquid extraction channel 21c of the coarse separation unit 21. However, since different pressure levels prevail in the coarse separation unit 21 and in the fine separation unit 22, which ensure different pressure conditions when the separated liquid is sucked out of the respective liquid extraction devices 21b, 22b via the respective liquid extraction channels 21c, 22c, the respective check valves 21d, 22d and nozzles 21e, 22e differ from one another. In other words, the check valve 21 d and the nozzle 21 e, which are to be assigned to the coarse separation unit 21, are adapted to the prevailing pressure level in the coarse separation unit 21 and the resulting pressure ratio.Conversely, the check valve 22d and the nozzle 22e, which are assigned to the fine separation unit 22, are adapted to the prevailing pressure level in the fine separation unit 22 and the resulting pressure ratio.

[0062] During operation of the compressor system 1, with reference to the oil-lubricated screw compressor as compressor 10, the compressed oil-air volume flow, indicated by the black arrows in Fig. 1, is introduced into the coarse separation unit 21. There, the compressed oil-air volume flow strikes the baffle plate as coarse separator 21a, so that a first portion of the oil is separated from the oil-air volume flow at the coarse separator 21a and drips into the liquid extraction device 21b located below. The oil collected in the liquid extraction device 21b of the coarse separation unit 21 is sucked through the liquid extraction channel 21c of the coarse separation unit 21 via the check valve 21d arranged in the liquid extraction channel 21c and the nozzle 21e also arranged therein, and is fed back to the screw block of the compressor 10.

[0063] The compressed oil-air volume flow, from which a portion of the oil has already been separated in the coarse separation unit 21, then flows from the coarse separation unit 21 into the fine separation unit 22. In the fine separation unit 22, the compressed oil-air volume flow flows through the fine separator 22a, whereby oil is again separated and collected in the liquid extraction device 22b of the fine separation unit 22. Analogous to the extraction of oil from the coarse separation unit 21, the extracted oil in the fine separation unit 22 is also extracted and returned through the liquid extraction channel 22c of the fine separation unit 22 via the check valve 22d arranged in the liquid extraction channel 22c and the nozzle 22e also arranged therein into the screw block of the compressor 10.In the exemplary embodiment, the liquid extraction channel 22c of the fine separation unit 22 and the liquid extraction channel 21c of the coarse separation unit 21 are combined in the housing 20a of the liquid separation device 20 to form a common liquid extraction channel (not shown) in order to supply the respectively extracted oil to the screw block of the compressor 10 via the common liquid extraction channel. In alternative embodiments, the liquid extraction channel 22c of the fine separation unit 22 and the liquid extraction channel 21c of the coarse separation unit 21 can also be routed separately in the housing 20a of the liquid separation device 20, only opening into a common liquid extraction channel in the housing 10a of the compressor or each being routed to a separate inlet in the screw block of the compressor 10. The invention is not limited to the described embodiment. In particular, features described in the embodiment, other embodiments and further developments of the invention can be combined with one another, provided they do not reasonably exclude one another.
