Abstract
Description
[0001] DESCRIPTION
[0002] TITLE: ARRANGEMENT FOR TAKING A FLUID FROM A SEALED CONTAINER
[0003] Technical field of the invention
[0004] The present invention relates to an arrangement for drawing a fluid from inside a container, in particular an airless container.
[0005] Technical background
[0006] An airless container, or airless container, is a container that contains a product that is not in contact with atmospheric air.
[0007] When you want to withdraw a liquid or pasty product from an airless bottle sealed with a lid, it is generally necessary to have a pump-type or other non-removable withdrawal device attached to the bottle. If you want to reuse the pump with bottles with refill functions and you want to change the refill bottle during dispensing, it is difficult to make this change without a risk of air entering the bottle.
[0008] When the airless container is separated from the sampling device, it is no longer protected in an airless manner; a device is required to recap it to prevent the product from leaking, being oxidized by the air or contaminated by bacteria.
[0009] When separating the refill bottle from the dispensing system, this must be done under airless conditions, without breaking the airtight seal of the container.
[0010] It is also complicated to put a sampling device back on an airless bottle that has already been used because it requires a break in the airless quality of the bottle (opening the protective cap of the bottle to connect the sampling device) and air is reintroduced into the bottle with a risk of contamination.
[0011] There is a need for a solution that allows airless containers to be changed easily on a single sampling device while keeping the container completely airless, without re-venting the product and without the risk of bacterial contamination.

[0042] Detailed description of the invention
[0043] In the following description, identical, similar or analogous elements will be designated by the same reference numbers.
[0044] Figures 1 and 2 show an arrangement 10 for the sealed connection between a container 12 equipped with a cover 14 and a cannula 16, or needle.
[0045] It is noted that the cannula 16 is intended to be connected to a second container (not shown). It can for example be fixed to a container provided with pumping means or fixed to the end of a pipe provided with pumping means capable of allowing the withdrawal of a fluid contained in the container 12. The cannula 16 here extends in a main axial direction A1 corresponding to the main axis of the container 12.
[0046] In the remainder of the description, an orientation from the outside to the inside will be used, in a non-limiting manner, along the main axial direction A1, which corresponds to an orientation from the top to the bottom, considering figure 1.
[0047] The cover 14 is intended to be fixed in a sealed manner on the container 12, for example by screwing or fitting onto a neck 18 forming the main opening of the container 12.
[0048] The cannula 16, which is illustrated by figures 5 to 7, here comprises a main tubular section 20 of circular section which is designed to communicate, by its upper end, or outer end, with the pumping means and which is extended, at its lower free end, by a sampling head 22.
[0049] The sampling head 22 comprises a narrowing which forms an annular groove 24 and radial openings 26 which communicate with the interior of the main tubular section 20.
[0050] The sampling head 22 advantageously comprises radial grooves 28 on its inner axial end face which have a drainage function.
[0051] The cover 14 is provided with a sampling orifice 30 capable of receiving the sampling head 22 of the cannula 16. The cover 14 here comprises a transverse main body 32 provided with interlocking fixing means 34 and provided with sealing means 36 interposed between the neck 18 of the container 12 and the transverse main body 32 to ensure the sealing of the closure of the container 12 by the cover 14.
[0052] Advantageously, the sealing means 36 are overmolded onto the transverse main body 32 by bi-injection.
[0053] The sampling orifice 30 extends inside the container 12 by a conduit 38 which extends here in the main axial direction A1. This conduit 38 is here in the form of an added part which is fixed by elastic fitting onto the transverse main body 32. Other methods of manufacture or assembly could be provided.
[0054] The conduit 38 here comprises an internal tubular section 40 which is provided with two diametrically opposite transverse orifices 42 which open into the container 12. The conduit 38 extends under the transverse orifices 42 by an end section 44 provided with an axial opening 46 which opens into the interior of the container 12.
[0055] Advantageously, the conduit 38 is equipped with a movable valve 48 which is designed to slide axially inside the conduit 38 between a sealed closing position, or high position, illustrated by FIG. 8, and a sampling position, or low position, illustrated by FIGS. 2 and 13. The movable valve 48 is controlled to move between these two positions by the cannula 16. The movable valve 48 here comprises a tubular body 50 provided with a transverse plate 51 capable of sealingly separating the interior from the exterior of the container 12 when the movable valve 48 occupies its sealed closing position.
[0056] The tubular body 50 comprises a hooking element 52 capable of allowing the movable valve 48 to be secured to the cannula 16. More precisely, the hooking element 52 allows the movable valve 48 to be hooked onto the sampling head 22 when it is placed in a locked state which is illustrated by figures 2, and 10 to 13.
[0057] According to the embodiment shown here, in particular in Figures 3 and 4, the tubular body 50 comprises two internal lugs forming the hooking element 52. These internal lugs are designed to be received in the recess formed by the annular groove 24 of the sampling head 22 in the locked state.
[0058] The tubular body 50 comprises a locking member 54 which cooperates with a locking surface 56 arranged in the cover 14 so as to retain the movable valve 48 in the sealed closing position. The locking member 54 is formed here by two external lugs and the locking surface 56 is arranged in a recess capable of receiving the external lugs in the sealed closing position.
[0059] The conduit 38 here comprises an outer tubular section 58 which is received in the sampling orifice 30 and whose outer axial end edge 60 forms a part of the blocking surface 56. The sampling orifice 30 comprises a portion of the sealing means 36 which ensures sealed contact between the cover 14 and the outer tubular section 58, and which forms an annular sealing lip 62 in the vicinity of the outer axial end edge 60.
[0060] The annular sealing lip 62 is arranged in the sampling orifice 30 and comprises a portion which forms an annular abutment surface 64 for axially retaining the movable valve 48 in the sealed closing position. The annular lip 62 is provided to be in sealed radial support against an external surface of the cannula 16 in the sampling position, when the cannula 16 enters the sampling orifice 30.
[0061] The tubular body 50 here comprises a first external sealing ring 66 located in the vicinity of the transverse plate 51 and a second external sealing ring 68 located in the vicinity of the free end of the tubular body 50.
[0062] The movable valve 48 and its tubular body 50 are preferably made in one piece by molding, preferably from elastomer material.
[0063] The operation of the arrangement according to the invention will now be described by considering Figures 8 to 14.
[0064] In Figure 8, the movable valve 48 is shown in the sealed closing position. In this position, the upper axial end edge of the tubular body 50 faces axially with the stop surface 64 formed by the lower axial end annular edge of the annular lip 62. In addition, the locking member 54 formed by the two external lugs is received in a recess delimited at the top by the stop surface 64 and at the bottom by a notch 70 formed in the outer tubular section 58.
[0065] The two external sealing rings 66, 68 are pressed against the internal axial surface of the conduit 38, which ensures good sealing between the inside and the outside of the container 12.
[0066] In Figure 8, the sampling head 22 of the cannula 16 is approaching but not yet in contact with the movable valve 48.
[0067] In Figure 9, the sampling head 22 is received in the receptacle formed by the tubular body 50 at its outer axial end and the internal lugs of the hooking element 52 penetrate into the annular groove 24.
[0068] By continuing to move towards the inside of the container 12, that is to say downwards considering these figures, the sampling head 22 exerts axial support on the movable valve 48 which causes it to move inwards by causing elastic deformation of the external lugs, as illustrated in figure 10. The two external sealing rings 66, 68 are still in sealed support inside the conduit 38 and the annular lip 62 begins to come into sealed radial contact with the main tubular section 20. At this stage, a double seal is obtained thanks to the lip and the external rings.
[0069] As the axial movement of the sampling head 22 and movable valve 48 assembly continues inward, the second outer sealing ring 68 slides over the transverse ports 42, as illustrated in FIG. 11.
[0070] By continuing to slide, as illustrated in Figure 12, the first external ring 66 reaches the transverse orifices 42 and therefore no longer ensures complete sealing with the external part of the movable valve 48. However, the annular lip 62 is still in sealed contact with the main tubular section 20 of the cannula 16.
[0071] From the moment when the first external ring 66 is opposite or exceeds the transverse orifices 42, as illustrated in figure 13, then the fluid contained in the container 12 can circulate towards the radial openings 28 of the sampling head 22. There is always the annular lip 62 in sealed contact with the main tubular section 20 to prevent circulation of the fluid outside the cannula 16.
[0072] Figure 13 shows the cannula 16 when it has reached its axial end position inside the container 12 and the movable valve 48 occupies its axial sampling position. The movable valve 48 is here entirely received in the end section 44 of the conduit 38 and in axial support against the bottom of the conduit 38. The radial openings 28 are then located at the same axial height as the transverse orifices 42.
[0073] Figures 6 and 7 represent two configurations according to the angular position of the cannula 16 relative to the conduit 38. In the configuration of Figure 6, two radial openings 26 have the majority of their opening section aligned radially with the transverse orifices 42. In the configuration of Figure 7, one of the three radial openings 26 is perfectly aligned radially with one of the transverse orifices 42. These two extreme configurations show that the arrangement 10 according to the invention and the structure of the sampling head 22 are designed to ensure an optimal sampling flow between the interior of the container 12 and the cannula 16.From the extreme axial position illustrated in Figure 13, when the cannula 16 is removed from the container 12 by sliding it axially upwards, the movable valve 48 moves upwards with the sampling head 22 since the movable valve 48 is hooked, or locked, onto the sampling head 22.
[0074] When the sampling head 22 and movable valve 48 assembly reaches the sealed closing position, as illustrated in FIG. 14, the outer axial end rim of the tubular body 50 comes into axial abutment against the annular lip 62. Simultaneously, the outer end portion of the tubular body 50 returns to its initial shape by releasing the attachment on the sampling head 22 since the external lugs return to their place in the corresponding recesses. The cannula 16 can then continue its travel towards the outside of the sampling orifice 30 while the movable valve 48 is retained axially in the cover 14.
[0075] Thus, the invention proposes a sealed connection device between a cannula and a container, in particular an airless container. The invention also proposes a sealed connection assembly comprising a cannula and a container as described above.
