AI Technical Summary
Existing air flow separation devices are limited in their ability to efficiently separate particles, particularly color particles carried in paint mist, due to their fixed configurations and lack of flexibility in connecting multiple elements for enhanced separation performance.
The development of a modular air flow separation element with connecting means that allow for quick and easy assembly of multiple elements in staggered orientations, creating a separation combination with rotated and identical parts, each with the same hole pattern, to form a separation device that can be used in various configurations for improved particle separation.
This modular design enhances the separation efficiency by creating eddies and varying flow velocities, effectively capturing particles carried in the air stream, and can be easily integrated into painting systems for efficient particle removal.

Abstract
Description
[0001] Description
[0002] Airflow separation element
[0003] The innovation proposed here concerns the technical field of the separation of particles carried along with an air stream (raw gas stream), in particular the separation of paint or varnish particles carried along with a so-called paint mist as a raw gas stream, i.e. the technical field of paint mist separation.
[0004] Devices, namely air flow separation devices (in short: separation devices), for this purpose are already known, for example in the form of the separation device described in EP 2 532 409 B and referred to there as a filter module or in the form of the separation device described in DE 10 2014 003 608 A1 and also referred to there as a filter module.
[0005] One object of the proposed innovation is to provide a new form of an air flow separation element which is intended for use with or in an air flow separation device, in any case for separating particles entrained with a raw gas flow.
[0006] Air flow separation elements are also already known. They are flat elements which either have their own frame-like edge or are provided with a frame-like edge and are combined with other air flow separation elements and / or an air flow separation device by means of this edge. An air flow separation element has a plurality of openings (holes) for the passage of the raw gas flow. A particular arrangement and a number of holes result in / determine a hole pattern of the respective air flow separation element. Air flow separation elements are known from CN 113842715 A which can be connected to one another in parallel planes by means of elongated struts which in turn can be snapped into edge cutouts of the air flow separation elements.
[0007] US 2009 / 0183477 A1 discloses an air filter comprising a frame for receiving a filter fleece. The frame has tabs directed diagonally outwards and upwards, so that the entirety of the tabs forms a type of trough, each of which can accommodate another frame with a filter fleece, allowing a plurality of air filters to be stacked one behind the other or arranged one above the other.
[0008] The object outlined above is achieved according to the invention by means of a device referred to here and hereinafter as an air flow separation element and sometimes simply as a separation element, having the features of claim 1.
[0009] According to this definition, the airflow separation element is designed and constructed to separate particles entrained in a raw gas stream. A possible alternative long form for the designation of the airflow separation element is "raw gas stream particle separation element / air particle separation element" or—in the case of separation of particles due to paint mist—"paint mist separation element."
[0010] In the interest of better readability of the description presented here, the short form "separation element" is often used below, whereby whenever this term is mentioned, the term air flow separation element and the long forms above must also be read. The same applies accordingly to terms introduced further down, namely separation combination (possible long forms: air flow separation combination; raw gas flow / air particle separation combination or paint mist separation combination) or separation device (possible long forms: air flow separation device; raw gas flow / air particle separation device or paint mist separation device).
[0011] The separation element (airflow separation element) has a separation region (airflow separation region) and connecting means adjacent to or extending from the separation region. The connecting means are designed and prepared for detachably connecting a separation element to another separation element, namely another separation element as described here and below.
[0012] The device—the separation element (airflow separation element)—is designed and prepared for separating particles entrained in a raw gas stream, in particular paint particles. The separation element is also intended for use in a separation device (airflow separation device) or for use with a separation device. For use with a separation device, a separation device of the type mentioned above or the like is suitable, for example.
[0013] Due to the purpose of the separation element for separating particles carried along with a raw gas flow, in particular paint particles, the separation element proposed here can also be referred to as a raw gas flow particle separation element, in particular as a paint particle separation element / air particle separation element or - in the case of separation of particles due to paint mist - as a paint mist separation element. In any case, the separation element proposed here is intended for use in an air flow and, when used as intended, the separation element proposed here is used in an air flow. The designation as an air flow separation element highlights, on the one hand, the use / usability in an air flow and, on the other hand, the use / usability for separating particles carried along with the respective air flow. These particles are, for example, paint particles carried along by the air flow. This highlights the designation paint mist separation element.
[0014] The special feature of the separation element proposed here is that each separation element can be quickly and easily connected to another separation element by means of the connecting means. As a result, two separation elements of the type proposed here are or are connected to one another. Separation elements connected in this way can then be used to connect further separation elements by means of the connecting means. Such a combination of separation elements is referred to below as an air flow separation combination or, for short, as a separation combination. A separation combination comprises at least two separation elements of the type described here and below (two, three, four or more separation elements) which are connected to one another by means of the connecting means. A separation combination can also be created by connecting two separation combinations to one another.Such a connection is also created by means of the connecting means. In a separation combination, the separation elements comprised thereby are arranged in a staggered manner one behind the other. This means that the separation regions of the separation elements comprised in the separation combination lie in parallel or at least essentially parallel planes and straight lines along normals established at the centroid of the separation regions coincide or at least essentially coincide. In other words: in the case of a further separation element (second separation element) connected to a separation element (first separation element), a projection of the separation region of the first separation element transversely to the surface of this separation region covers the separation region of the second separation element or at least essentially covers it.
[0015] Relativisations used in the description presented here, such as "parallel or at least essentially parallel", are due to possible tolerances in the manufacture of separation elements as well as possible tolerances when connecting two separation elements to one another. Such tolerances, especially tolerances when connecting two separation elements to one another, can never be ruled out. Therefore, for example, one cannot always speak of exact parallelism, even though exact parallelism is certainly present in the ideal case.
[0016] Advantageous embodiments of the invention are the subject of the further claims. References used within the claims indicate the further development of the subject matter of the referenced claim through the features of the respective dependent claim. They are not to be understood as a waiver of achieving independent, objective protection for the features or combinations of features of a dependent claim. Furthermore, with regard to the interpretation of the claims and the description, if a feature in a dependent claim is specified in more detail, it must be assumed that such a limitation is not present in the respective preceding claims or in a more general embodiment of the subject device. Any reference in the description to aspects of dependent claims is therefore to be read expressly as a description of optional features, even without a specific reference.
[0017] In a preferred embodiment of the separation element, this has a separation area and connecting means starting from the separation area and integrally connected to the separation area for detachably connecting a separation element to a further separation element and is characterized in that each connecting means comprises a bridge section directly adjoining the separation area and an insertion section in turn adjoining the bridge section, that the separation element has insertion areas in the separation area or on the edge of the separation area and that each insertion section of a connecting means can be inserted into a respective insertion area.
[0018] In a further preferred embodiment of the separation element, this has a rectangular separation area (air flow separation area), in particular a square separation area, and the separation element can be connected by means of the connecting means to a further separation element in at least two different orientations (in the case of a square separation area in four different orientations). In other words: In a preferred embodiment of the separation element, this - having a rectangular, in particular square separation area - can be connected to a further separation element in a first orientation and at least one further orientation, wherein the separation element, when attached to the further separation element in the first orientation, is rotated by 180 ° in relation to an attachment in the at least one further orientation (by a multiple of 90 ° in the case of a square separation area).
[0019] The connecting means of a separation element are bent against the surface of the separation area to connect the separation element to another separation element, for example. A dimension of each connecting means, measured from the plane of the separation area, is regarded as its length. The length of each connecting means is divided into a section of the connecting means, referred to below as the bridge section, and the rest of the connecting means. Each connecting means therefore comprises a bridge section. The bridge section itself also has a length. In the case of two separation elements connected to one another by means of the connecting means, the bridge sections of the connecting means (their length) determine the distance between the respective separation areas. The distance is calculated based on the length of the bridge sections.By appropriately manufacturing the separation elements, a suitable shape of the connecting elements they comprise, in particular a suitable dimensioning of the bridge sections of the connecting elements, can be used to determine the subsequent distance between the separation areas when the separation elements are connected to one another by means of the connecting elements. Manual positioning of a separation element relative to another separation element is therefore not necessary, and an intended relative position and an intended distance arise directly from the shape and dimension of the connecting elements when connecting two separation elements.
[0020] In a particularly preferred embodiment of the separation elements proposed here, these each have identical hole patterns in a rectangular, in particular square, separation area. The separation elements each having identical hole patterns are identical parts which are, for example, the result of a manufacturing process using the same tool (punching tool). In a separation combination, the separation elements comprised thereby - all separation elements or at least individual separation elements - are rotated relative to one another. In other words: the separation combination comprises at least two identical parts rotated relative to one another or at least two identical parts rotated relative to one another.
[0021] In the case of separation regions with identical hole patterns, without rotation of the separation elements relative to one another, in a projection as described above the edge lines of the holes in the separation region of a first separation element fall onto the edge lines of the holes in the separation region of a second separation element (or at least substantially fall onto these edge lines). In other words: the holes are located directly behind one another and form a straight flow channel, and a raw gas stream striking the separation region of the first separation element flows through the holes in the first separation region and then directly through the holes in the second separation region, and overall the raw gas stream flows through the straight flow channels.
[0022] A rotation of two separation elements relative to each other avoids such straight flow channels and such direct flow, even with otherwise identical hole patterns. The rotation of the separation elements relative to each other and a subsequent detachable connection of the separation elements rotated relative to each other is particularly simple due to the manner in which two separation elements are connected to each other by means of the connecting means (as described above and below).
[0023] A rotation of two separation elements relative to one another on the one hand and a detachable connection of two separation elements to one another by means of the connecting means on the other hand are functionally independent of one another, so that all aspects which are described in the description presented here with regard to a rotation of two separation elements relative to one another can also be considered independently of a detachable connection of the separation elements to one another by means of the connecting means.
[0024] When two separation elements are rotated relative to each other, different hole patterns are arranged one behind the other in the direction of flow - at least in sections. This advantageously leads to the formation of vortices and the associated separation of particles carried along with the raw gas stream. In other words: when the separation elements are rotated relative to each other and each have the same hole pattern, the rotation leads to a different permeability and thus to a different separation efficiency of the respective separation combination compared to a configuration without such rotation.
[0025] However, straight flow channels, such as those resulting from identical hole patterns without rotating the separation elements, can sometimes also be advantageous. In this case, the straight flow channels can result in a local increase in the flow velocity within a separation combination. Such a local increase in the flow velocity can be useful, for example, if, further along the flow path, the flow direction is at least partially redirected through a separation combination at a specific stage of the separation combination (a specific separation element).
[0026] In the separation combination proposed here with separation elements having a rectangular, in particular square, separation area and each having the same hole pattern, which are detachably connected to one another in particular in the manner described above, i.e. by means of connecting means inserted into plug-in areas, at least two separation elements form the separation combination. This can be a separation combination that forms part of a separation combination comprising further separation elements. Such an (external or larger) separation combination also comprises, for example, separation elements that are not rotated relative to one another and / or separation elements with different hole patterns, but at least two successive, interconnected separation elements with the same hole pattern. In the separation combination also proposed here, with separation elements having a rectangular, in particular square, separation area, each with the same hole pattern and separation elements which are rotated relative to one another and which are detachably connected to one another in the manner described above, i.e. by means of connecting means inserted into plug-in areas, at least two separation elements also form the separation combination. This can also be a separation combination which forms part of a separation combination comprising further separation elements. Such an (external or larger) separation combination also comprises, for example, separation elements which are not rotated relative to one another and / or separation elements with different hole patterns, but at least two successive, interconnected and rotated relative to one another separation elements with the same hole pattern.
[0027] This definition / interpretation that a separation combination can also be located within a separation combination comprising further separation elements or can generally be part of a separation combination comprising further separation elements must always be read in the following and applies to every mention of the term separation combination (air flow separation combination).
[0028] An air flow separation combination (separation combination) with such separation elements is a separation combination for separating particles carried along with a raw gas flow with a plurality of separation elements connected to one another and arranged in a staggered manner one behind the other, wherein each separation element has a separation area and the separation elements in their separation areas each have the same hole pattern and are rotated relative to one another.
[0029] Separation elements which can be detachably connected to one another in the manner proposed here have a separation area and connecting means adjacent to the separation area or extending from the separation area.
[0030] Particularly preferably, in the case of separation elements which, when connected to one another, are intended to form an arrangement rotated relative to one another, it is provided that the separation elements each have the same hole pattern and each have a (at least imaginary) quartered separation area (a separation area with four quarters) and a different partial hole pattern in at least two adjacent quarters, or each have different partial hole patterns along a circumferential / edge line of the separation area, in particular a different partial hole pattern in each quarter.
[0031] In a separation combination formed with such separation elements, its separation elements each have the same hole pattern in a rectangular, in particular square, separation area, the separation elements are rotated relative to one another (by 90° or multiples of 90°), and the separation elements each have a separation area with four quarters (each separation area is at least conceptually divided into four sections (quarters). Furthermore, the separation elements have a different partial hole pattern in at least two adjacent quarters, or the separation elements each have different partial hole patterns along a circumferential / edge line of the separation area, in particular a different partial hole pattern in each quarter.A symbolic representation of a separation element and an equally symbolic representation of its quartered separation area and the partial hole patterns there is possible as follows, where A, B, C and D symbolically represent different partial hole patterns:.
[0032] ABDC
[0033] For example, with three separation elements (first separation element, second separation element, third separation element), which are rotated relative to each other by 90 °, a possible resulting configuration can be represented as follows, whereby the symbolic representation of the separation elements is shown side by side, while in a separation combination the separation elements are arranged staggered one behind the other:
[0034] ABDACD
[0035] DCCBBA
[0036] ( first ( second ( third
[0037] Separator Separator Separator element ) element ) element )
[0038] The aim is to show that even with separation elements having the same hole pattern (here a hole pattern with the partial hole patterns symbolically designated A, B, C, D in each quarter of the separation areas), when the separation elements are rotated relative to one another within the separation combination, different partial hole patterns are located one behind the other in the direction of flow, so that direct flow through a separation combination formed with such separation elements and separation elements arranged in this way is prevented. This leads to a deflection of the raw gas flow and / or to the formation of vortices between the separation elements, and this improves the separation effect. The situation of a closed surface is expressly also regarded as a partial hole pattern. In this case, the surface area of the respective quarter is closed and has no holes (partial hole pattern without holes).
[0039] To explain the definition that the separation elements in a quartered separation area each have different partial hole patterns along a circumferential / edge line of the separation area or have a different partial hole pattern in each quarter, several hole patterns are compared below with partial hole patterns also symbolically designated A, B, C and D:
[0040] ABABAB
[0041] BABCDC
[0042] In the hole pattern shown on the left, which only comprises two different partial hole patterns (A, B), different partial hole patterns arise along the circumference / edge line of the separation area, namely the partial hole patterns A, B, A, B, [A, B, A, B, etc.]. Thus, two identical partial hole patterns never follow one another along the circumference / edge line.
[0043] In the hole pattern shown in the middle, which comprises three different partial hole patterns (A, B, C), different partial hole patterns also arise along the circumference / edge line of the separation area, namely the partial hole patterns A, B, C, B, [A, B, C, B, etc.]. Here, too, two identical partial hole patterns never follow one another along the circumference / edge line.
[0044] In the hole pattern shown on the right, which comprises four different partial hole patterns (A, B, C, D), there are also different partial hole patterns along the circumference / edge line of the separation area, namely the partial hole patterns A, B, C, D, [A, B, C, D, etc.]. Here, too, no two identical partial hole patterns ever follow one another along the circumference / edge line. Furthermore, in this hole pattern, all the partial hole patterns are different, so that each quarter has a different partial hole pattern.
[0045] For use in separating particles entrained by a raw gas stream, a separation combination formed with at least two separation elements of the type described here and below or comprising at least two separation elements of the type described here and below is preferably placed in a frame. The frame holds the separation elements comprised by the separation combination together, and the frame and the separation combination placed in the frame (the separation combination accommodated by the frame) together form a separation device (air stream separation device) for separating particles entrained by a raw gas stream. Such a separation device can advantageously be used alone or with at least one further, similar separation device and / or with at least one separation device of the type mentioned above for separating particles entrained by a raw gas stream.Such a separation device is preferably used in a painting system or in conjunction with a painting system or the like. There, at least one separation device of the type described here and below is or will be placed in an extraction wall or the like having a plurality of receiving compartments in at least individual receiving compartments.
[0046] The claims filed with the application are drafting suggestions without prejudice to the attainment of further protection. Since the features of the dependent claims, in particular, may constitute separate and independent inventions in view of the state of the art on the priority date, the applicant reserves the right to make these or further combinations of features previously disclosed only in the description and / or drawings the subject of independent claims or declarations of division. They may also contain independent inventions having a design independent of the subject matter of the respective claims referred to.
[0047] The innovation proposed here is also the use of a separation element as described here and below, a separation device as described here and below and a painting system, each for separating particles carried along with a raw gas stream.
[0048] Furthermore, the innovation proposed here is also a method for separating particles carried along with a raw gas flow, in particular paint particles (paint mist separation), and according to the method, the raw gas flow is passed through at least one separation element (air flow separation element), at least one separation combination (air flow separation combination) or at least one separation device (air flow separation device) of the type described here and below.
[0049] Finally , the innovation proposed here is also a product which comprises a plurality of separation elements for separating particles carried along with a raw gas stream , the product itself also being intended for separating particles carried along with a raw gas stream .
[0050] Each separation element has a rectangular, in particular square, separation area, and all separation elements have identical hole patterns in their separation areas. The separation elements are rotatable relative to one another, and in a product designed to separate particles entrained in a raw gas stream, the separation elements, or at least individual separation elements included therein, are rotated relative to one another.
[0051] Advantageously, each separation element has connecting means adjacent to the separation area or extending from the separation area for detachably connecting it to another separation element. Furthermore, each separation element can be connected to another separation element in at least two different orientations. The product is characterized in that each separation element is provided with a unique marking to maintain a proper sequence within interconnected separation elements. With regard to advantageous embodiments of the separation elements comprised by the product, what has been written above and in the special description section regarding the detachable connection of two separation elements to one another, as well as what has been written above and in the special description section regarding the separation area, the hole pattern there and the rotatability of the separation elements relative to one another, apply accordingly, namely independently of one another, but optionally also in combination.
[0052] Embodiments of the invention are explained in more detail below with reference to the drawings. Corresponding objects or elements are provided with the same reference symbols in all figures. For elements that occur multiple times, such as tabs and slots, not all elements are often designated by the respective reference symbol for the sake of clarity of the drawing. In this respect, reference is made to the designated elements or to any designation of the same element in other figures.
[0053] The embodiments are not to be understood as a limitation of the invention. Rather, additions and modifications are also possible within the scope of the present disclosure, in particular those which, for example, can be derived by a person skilled in the art with regard to solving the problem through combination or modification of individual features or method steps described in the general or specific description and contained in the claims and / or the drawings, and which, through combinable features, lead to a new subject matter or to new method steps or method step sequences.

[0068] Fig. 17 shows a structural element functioning, for example, as an extraction wall of a painting system with compartments each for accommodating a separation device, and Fig. 18 shows a painting system with an extraction wall.
[0069] The illustrations in Figures 1 to 5 show an embodiment of a separation element (air flow separation element) 10 proposed here. Possible materials include cardboard, paperboard (particularly solid cardboard or corrugated cardboard), plastic, metal, or the like.
[0070] The illustration in Figure 1 shows a separation element 10 in a possible delivery configuration, namely in a flat state. The illustrations in Figures 2 and 3 show the separation element 10 according to Figure 1 in a configuration partially prepared for use, namely in an isometric view and essentially from the front and essentially from the rear, respectively. The illustrations in Figures 4 and 5 show the separation element 10 in the configuration as in Figures 2 and 3, in a front view and a side view, respectively.
[0071] A separation element 10 has means for detachably connecting (connecting means 12) to a further separation element 10, in particular exactly one further separation element 10. In the embodiment shown, a separation element 10 has four tabs 12 on the outside as connecting means 12. This is merely an example. In general, a separation element 10 has a plurality of (at least two) connecting means 12. A separation element 10 can therefore, for example, have exactly four connecting means 12, in particular one connecting means 12 adjacent to or starting from a respective outer edge, or for example have exactly two connecting means 12, in particular one connecting means 12 adjacent to or starting from respective opposite outer edges. In addition, a separation element 10 can also have more than one connecting means 12 adjacent to or extending from an outer edge or each outer edge.
[0072] The further description will be continued—without sacrificing further generality—on the basis of tabs 12 as a means for detachably connecting (connecting means 12) to one, in particular precisely one, further separation element 10. Nevertheless, whenever a tab 12 is mentioned, the general term "connecting means 12" must always be included.
[0073] The tabs 12 enclose a separation area 14 with a separation surface. The separation element 10 comprises the central separation area 14 and the adjoining tabs 12, preferably in a one-piece form, i.e. with tabs 12 extending from the separation area 14. In other words: each tab 12 is integrally connected to the separation area 14. The further description will also be continued in this respect - likewise without abandoning further general validity - based on the embodiment shown by way of example, i.e. based on a one-piece separation element 10 which comprises a central separation area 14 and tabs 12 adjoining it and integrally connected thereto. Phrases such as "extending from" and the like include qualifiers such as "adjacent to" and the like, since each tab 12 extending from the separation area 14 also adjoins the separation area 14.Formulations such as “starting from” emphasize a one-piece design.
[0074] Each tab 12 (each of the at least four tabs 12) is pivotally connected to the central separation area 14. To obtain a configuration as shown in Figures 2 to 5, each tab 12 is folded over against the plane of the separation area 14. For this purpose, the separation element 10 has a marking, a perforation, a fold line or the like - hereinafter referred to collectively as folding point 16 - in the region of the transition between the separation area 14 and the respective tab 12. The folding of each tab 12 in the region of the respective folding point 16 and against the plane of the separation area 14 takes place - as shown - at an angle of approximately 90° (more precisely: slightly over 90°; see Figure 5).
[0075] By folding the tabs 12, the previously flat separation element 10 acquires a three-dimensional shape. As long as the tabs 12 are not folded, i.e., in the case of flat separation elements 10, they require only a very small volume. This is a great advantage, especially when transporting a large number of separation elements 10 to a location.
[0076] In addition to the tabs 12, a separation element 10 has insertion regions 18 in the separation region 14 or at the edge of the separation region 14. A separation element 10 has at least a number of insertion regions 18 corresponding to the number of connecting means 12, and possibly more, for example four insertion regions 18 with two opposing connecting means 12. The embodiment shown as an example has four insertion regions 18 and, in the embodiment shown as an example, slots 18 in the separation region 14 function as insertion regions 18. The slots 18 each run parallel to the articulated connection between the nearest tab 12 and the separation region 14, that is to say parallel to the kink 16 between the nearest tab 12 and the separation region 14.The further description will also be continued here, also without renouncing further general validity, based on the embodiment shown as an example, namely exactly four slots 18 functioning as insertion areas 18.
[0077] The separation area 14 is rectangular, preferably square. The separation area 14 is structured and has holes 20. When the separation element 10 is used to separate particles carried along with a raw gas flow R (Fig. 7), the holes 20 allow the incoming raw gas flow R to pass through. The type and number of holes 20 and a surface structure resulting from the type and number of holes 20 and / or a hole pattern resulting from the type and number of holes 20 are not important and accordingly, in principle any surface structures or hole patterns are possible.
[0078] Now, consider a single tab 12. Reference is made to the illustration in Figure 6, which shows an enlarged view of the area designated VI in Figure 1. The following applies accordingly to all other tabs 12 of the separation element 10. Each tab 12 comprises a bridge section 22 directly adjacent to the separation area 14 and, in the case of tabs 12 extending from the separation area 14, a bridge section 22 directly adjoining the separation area 14, as well as an insertion section 24 which in turn adjoins the bridge section 22. The insertion section 24 is designed to fit each insertion area 18, for example to fit each slot 18, in such a way that insertion, in particular form-fitting insertion of the insertion section 24 into the insertion area / slot 18, namely the insertion area / slot 18 of another separation element 10, is possible. The following description will also be continued here on the basis of the illustrated embodiment and accordingly on the basis of slots 18 as insertion areas 18. However, whenever a slot 18 is mentioned, the more general term "insertion area 18" should also be read.
[0079] Optionally, the insertion section 24 - as shown - is slightly oversized in sections compared to the length of a slot 18, so that due to the excess, for example, resulting lugs or the like on the side of the insertion section 24 in the state inserted into a slot 18 fix the insertion section 24 in the slot 18 and thus to another separation element 10.
[0080] By means of the tabs 12, a separation element 10 (first separation element 10) can be detachably connected to another separation element 10 (second separation element 10) in a particularly simple and quick manner. In other words: by means of the tabs 12, a first separation element 10 can be detachably connected to a second separation element 10; by means of the tabs 12, a first separation element 10 is detachably connected to a second separation element 10. For this purpose, the insertion sections 24 of the tabs 12 of the first separation element 10 are inserted into the slots 18 of the second separation element 10 (one insertion section 24 in each slot 18). The bridge sections 22 of the tabs 12 determine a distance between the two separation elements 10 connected to one another in this way. More precisely: The bridge sections 22 determine the distance between the separation areas 14 of the two separation elements 10 connected to one another. In such an interconnected configuration, the separation regions 14 of the two separation elements 10 are parallel or at least substantially parallel to one another. A tab 12—or the respective connecting means 12—therefore also functions as a means for ensuring a defined distance (spacing means) between two separation elements 10 and their separation regions 14. Such a connecting means 12 is therefore a spacing and connecting means 12 (spacing connecting means) or a spacing and connecting device (spacing connecting device).
[0081] Just as two separation elements 10 can be connected to one another, as described, additional separation elements 10 can be added to such a combination. For this purpose, the insertion sections 24 of the tabs 12 are inserted into corresponding slots 18.
[0082] This is shown in the illustrations in Figures 7 and 8 using the example of separation elements 10 which are each connected to one another by means of tabs 12. The illustration in Figure 7 shows, as an example, three separation elements 10 connected to one another (as well as a final separation element 11). More than three separation elements 10 are also possible. The illustration in Figure 7 shows the combination in an isometric view. The illustration in Figure 8 shows a combination as in Figure 7 - but with further separation elements 10 - in a side view (transverse to the plane of the separation regions 14).
[0083] Separation elements 10 can be easily connected to one another at their respective locations, and the connection of separation elements 10 to one another is so simple that even untrained personnel can perform the connection. To maintain a proper sequence of separation elements 10 (for example, in the case of separation elements 10 with different hole patterns), they are preferably provided with a unique marking, for example, numbered in the area of the bridge sections 22 and / or provided with a color code.
[0084] In addition to the aspects already mentioned, the illustrations in Figures 7 and 8 show a special embodiment of a separation element, namely a separation element 11 acting as a closure (closing separation element 11). A closing separation element 11 corresponds to a separation element 10 as previously described, but unlike the latter, it does not have tabs 12. A closing separation element 11 always has a separation region 14, and by means of the separation region 14, a closing separation element 11 is also effective in separating particles entrained with a raw gas stream R, thus functioning like any other separation element 10.
[0085] Completing a combination of several separation elements 10 by means of a final separation element 11 is preferred, but nevertheless optional. Without a final separation element 11, the last separation element in the combination functions
[0086] 10 , i.e. the separating element 10 with free tabs 12 (tabs 12 not inserted into the slots 18 of another separating element 10 ) , as the end of the combination .
[0087] A plurality of interconnected separation elements 10 (with or without a final separation element 11) is referred to below as a separation combination 30. A separation combination 30 comprises a plurality (at least two) of interconnected separation elements 10 arranged in a staggered manner one behind the other in the connected state.
[0088] In this regard, special reference is made to the illustration in Figure 8. There, six separation elements 10 and one final separation element 11 are shown (by way of example) in a connected state. The separation elements 10 are assigned Roman numerals to facilitate reference. The first separation element 10 - Roman numeral I - is the separation element 10 shown on the far left. This is the first to be hit by the oncoming raw gas stream R. The second separation element 10 - Roman numeral II - is located downstream of the first separation element 10 (behind the first separation element 10) in relation to the flow path of the raw gas stream R and is connected to the first separation element 10. The third separation element 10 - Roman III - is located downstream of the second separation element 10 (behind the second separation element 10 ) with respect to the flow path of the raw gas stream R and is connected to the second separation element 10 and so on.The final separation element 11, which functions like a separation element 10 and is connected to a separation element 10, namely the separation element 10 designated with Roman numeral VI, is designated with Roman numeral VI I and is to be regarded as one of the other separation elements 10, at least with regard to the separation of particles entrained with the raw gas stream R.
[0089] The six separation elements 10 shown in the illustration in Figure 8—depending on the perspective, also the six separation elements 10 and the final separation element 11—form a separation combination 30. Because a separation combination 30, by definition, comprises a plurality (at least two) of interconnected separation elements 10, for example, the first two or the first three separation elements 10 also form a separation combination 30 (as shown in the illustration in Figure 8 by means of the curly brackets; separation elements I, II and separation elements I, II, III). Generally, in the case of interconnected separation elements 10, all separation elements 10 comprised in the assembly constitute a separation combination 30, but even within such a separation combination 30, each group of at least two interconnected separation elements 10 (separation element group) is a separation combination 30.Accordingly, in the illustration in Figure 8, the second and third separation elements 10 (separation elements II, III), the second, third, and fourth separation elements 10 (separation elements II, III, IV), the third and fourth separation elements 10 (separation elements III, IV), etc., together each constitute a separation combination 30 or a separation element group. This applies accordingly to configurations other than those shown in Figure 8, i.e., in the case of more or fewer separation elements 10.
[0090] The illustration in Figure 9 shows a snapshot when connecting a plurality of separation elements 10. There, two separation elements 10 that are already connected to one another are shown. A further separation element 10 is prepared for connection to the separation elements 10 that are already connected to one another, and a final separation element 11 is provided for connection to the resulting combination. The order in which a plurality of separation elements 10 are connected to one another is arbitrary. In the situation according to Figure 9, for example, the final separation element 11 can first be combined with the separation element 10 that is not connected to any other separation element 10, and the resulting combination is then combined with the two separation elements 10 that are already connected to one another (or successively with one further separation element 10 in each case). This applies to a larger number of separation elements 10 and to resulting groups of two or more separation elements 10 that are each connected to one another.
[0091] The illustration in Figure 9 shows different separation elements 10. These are different because they differ in the type and / or number of holes 20 in their respective separation areas 14. In other words: the separation elements 10 / the separation areas 14 each have a different hole pattern.
[0092] The separation elements 10, which differ with respect to their respective separation region 14, are, however, identical to one another in that they each have tabs 12 and slots 18 (with the exception of the separation element 10 designed as the final separation element 11, which only has slots 18 and no tabs 12) and can be detachably connected to one another by means of the tabs 12 and slots 18, wherein in the connected state a defined distance results due to the bridge sections 22 of the tabs 12. In an advantageous, but nevertheless optional embodiment, a separation combination 30 comprises a plurality (at least two) of separation elements 10 with different hole patterns.
[0093] The illustration in Figure 9 also shows, by way of example, possible, advantageous embodiments of the separation regions 14 of the separation elements 10 and of a hole pattern therein. These are hole patterns with holes 20 in which at least individual edge lines of two or more holes 20 are parallel to one another. In the embodiment shown, the hole patterns are also symmetrical, namely at least point-symmetrical, the point of symmetry being the intersection point of the central longitudinal axes (or the intersection point of the diagonals; both intersection points coincide).
[0094] The hole patterns shown are also multiply axially symmetric, namely at least with respect to the two central longitudinal axes of the respective separation region 14. In the situation shown in Figure 9, the hole patterns of all separation elements 10, with the exception of the last separation element 10 (designed as the final separation element 11), are each axially symmetric with respect to both central longitudinal axes and also with respect to both diagonals. In the situation shown in Figure 9, the hole pattern of the last separation element 10 (designed as the final separation element 11) is axially symmetric with respect to both central longitudinal axes (and not also with respect to both diagonals). All hole patterns shown are point-symmetric.
[0095] The separation elements 10 comprised by a separation combination 30 are connected to one another in that the tabs 12 of one separation element 10 are inserted into the slots 18 of another separation element 10 following along the staggered arrangement (following one after the other in the sense of the sequence and as described further below).
[0096] In a front, first separation element 10 of a separation combination 30, no tabs 12 of another separation element 10 are inserted into the slots 18 thereof. A rear, last separation element 10 of a separation combination 30 either has no tabs 12 (in this case it is a separation element 10 in the form of a final separation element 11) or its tabs 12 are free, i.e. not inserted into the slots 18 of another separation element 10. In the or each possibly. Between the first and the last separation element 10, the tabs 12 of another (previous) separation element 10 are inserted into its slots 18, and the tabs 12 of another (following) separation element 10 are inserted into the slots 18.
[0097] Speaking of a first or front separation element 10 and a last or rear separation element 10 and overall of preceding and subsequent separation elements 10 is justified against the background of the later use of the separation combination 30: When used as intended, for example when used in a painting system, the separation combination 30 is subjected to a raw gas flow R (Fig. 7, Fig. 8) laden with particles and the raw gas flow R flows through the separation combination 30, namely through the holes 20 in the individual separation elements 10. The first or front separation element 10 (Figure 8: separation element 1) is the separation element 10 which the raw gas flow R first encounters. The last or rear separation element 10 (or final separation element 11; Figure 8: separation element VI I) is accordingly the separation element 10, 11 which the raw gas stream R encounters last, through whose holes 20 the raw gas stream R flows last. A separation element 10 which precedes another separation element 10 is located upstream of this separation element 10 in the direction of the raw gas stream R. Correspondingly, a separation element 10 following another separation element 10 is located downstream of this separation element 10 in the direction of the raw gas stream R.
[0098] In the illustrations in Figure 7 and Figure 8, the raw gas flow R and its direction (direction of the flow path of the raw gas flow R) are illustrated by means of a block arrow. In particular, the illustration in Figure 8, which shows the separation elements 10 in a side view, shows which separation element 10 is the first or last separation element 10 or which separation element 10 precedes or follows another separation element 10. In any case, in the situation shown in Figure 8, the separation element 10 shown on the far left (separation element I) is the first separation element 10 and the separation element 10 shown on the far right and designed as the final separation element 11 (separation element VI I) is the last separation element 10.
[0099] On the left-hand side in the illustration in Figure 8, particles, in particular paint particles, are created which are to be separated by means of the separation elements 10, for example as a result of the operation of a painting system or the like. On the left-hand side in the illustration, the raw gas stream R is correspondingly laden with such particles (the raw gas stream R carries such particles with it; this side is the so-called dust air soap). On the right-hand side in the illustration, the quantity of particles carried by the raw gas stream R is significantly reduced (this side is the so-called clean air soap), because at least some of the particles carried by the raw gas stream R - usually a large part of the carried particles - have been separated by the separation elements 10.
[0100] The illustration in Figure 10 shows, on the one hand, a separation combination 30 according to Figures 7 and 8 and, on the other hand, a frame 32 intended to receive the separation combination 30. The frame 32 has large openings in opposite side surfaces, in particular opposite large side surfaces, which are referred to as inflow opening 34 and outflow opening 36 for differentiation and in accordance with their respective function. These openings are large because they take up a large part of the respective side surface. Large side surfaces are larger than the other side surfaces. For closing, the frame 32 has closure means 38, for example one or more closure tabs 38.
[0101] The frame 32 can be, for example, a conventional or essentially conventional cardboard box—apart from the openings 34, 36—that is, a cardboard box that could otherwise also be used for packaging and / or shipping purposes. Possible materials for the frame 32 include cardboard, paperboard (particularly solid cardboard or corrugated cardboard), plastic, metal, or the like. The frame 32 accommodates the separating combination 30 in a form-fitting or at least essentially form-fitting manner. This means that the frame 32 is designed with respect to a respective separation combination 30 or a separation combination 30 and a number of separation elements 12 encompassed and connected to one another in relation to the frame 32 such that the interior of the frame 32 accommodates the separation combination 30 and this reaches up to each inner surface of the frame 32 or at least substantially up to each inner surface of the frame 32.In any case, a depth Tr of the frame 32, measured from the inlet opening 34 to the outlet opening 36, corresponds (corresponds or at least substantially corresponds) to a thickness Dk, measured from a first separation element 10 to the last separation element 10 (or final separation element 11) staggered one behind the other in the arrangement, of a separation combination 30 intended to be received in the frame 32. In other words: a separation combination 30 placed in a frame 32 fills it; a separation combination 30 placed in a frame 32 takes up its internal volume completely or at least substantially completely. In a separation combination 30 placed in a frame 32 according to Figure 7, Figure 8 and the associated description, the first (front) separation element 10 is located immediately behind the inflow opening 34 and the last (rear) separation element 10 is located immediately in front of the outflow opening 36.
[0102] The illustration in Figure 11 shows a separation combination 30 placed in a (closed) frame 32. Parts of the separation combination 30 placed in the frame 32 (the separation area 14 of its front separation element 10 is designated) are visible through the inlet opening 34 in the frame 32. A separation combination 30 placed in a frame 32, together with the frame 32, forms a separation device (air flow separation device) 40. Such a separation device 40 or a plurality of such separation devices 40 arranged in a staggered manner one behind the other (staggered one behind the other in the direction of a raw gas flow R) can be used in a manner known per se for separating particles, in particular paint particles, carried along with a raw gas flow R and is intended for separating particles carried along with a raw gas flow R.
[0103] The illustration in Figure 12 shows the separation device 40 according to Figure 11 from the front. The view through the inlet opening 34 in the frame 32 falls onto the separation areas 14 of the separation elements 10 placed in the frame 32. The separation area 14 of the front separation element 10 is designated. Due to the different hole patterns of the separation elements 10, the separation areas 14 of the separation elements 10 located below (behind) them are also at least partially visible through the holes 20 in the separation areas 14. The illustration shows that a raw gas stream R entering the separation device 40 partly strikes the separation area 14 of the front separation element 10 due to the different hole patterns of the separation elements 10 and partly passes through the holes 20 in this separation element 10.The part of the raw gas stream R passing through the holes 20 then partially strikes the separation region 14 of the next separation element 10 and partially passes through its holes 20, and so on. The part of the raw gas stream R striking a separation region 14 is deflected, diverted and swirled by the impact and then passes through the holes 20 of the respective separation element 10. Due to the impact on the separation regions 14 and due to the swirling following the impact, the particles carried along with the raw gas stream R are separated - in a manner basically known per se - namely on the surfaces of the separation regions 14 and on the edge lines and edge surfaces of the holes 20.
[0104] The illustration in Figure 13 shows a plurality of separation elements 10 arranged in a staggered manner one behind the other. These are basically separation elements 10 as previously described, i.e. separation elements 10 with tabs 12 and slots 18. Furthermore, these are separation elements 10 with square separation areas 14 (each separation element 10 has a square separation area 14).
[0105] The separation elements 10 are not yet connected to one another, but can be connected to one another in the arrangement shown and as described above. In the connected state, the separation elements 10 form a separation combination 30, and such a separation combination 30 placed in a frame 32 is a separation device 40. Here, too, a separation combination 30 comprises a plurality (at least two) of separation elements 10 connected to one another and arranged staggered one behind the other in the connected state.
[0106] The special feature of these separation elements 10 is the hole pattern of the respective separation areas 14. Unlike the previously shown separation areas 14 with an at least point-symmetrical hole pattern, such symmetry is missing here. In the exemplary embodiment shown, each separation area 14 clearly comprises four
[0107] (imaginary) central longitudinal axes, i.e. four quarters. Alternatively, the separation area 14 is divided into four quarters by the two diagonals (not shown).
[0108] In each quarter, each separation area 14 has a different hole pattern, which is referred to below as the partial hole pattern to distinguish it from the hole pattern of the separation area 14 as a whole. Due to different partial hole patterns in each quarter of the respective separation area 14, the hole pattern as a whole, i.e. the hole pattern of the complete separation area 14, is non-symmetrical, namely neither axially symmetrical nor point-symmetrical.
[0109] Separation elements 10 with a separation area 14 with a non-symmetrical hole pattern, i.e. a hole pattern that is at least not point-symmetrical, can be connected to one another as described above, form a separation combination 30 in the connected state and can also be connected to one another in a particularly advantageous manner.
[0110] This particularly advantageous type of connection is already indicated in the illustration in Figure 13. However, the separation elements 10 are not yet connected to one another there. However, the separation elements 10 can be connected to one another in the arrangement shown (in the sequence shown); the separation elements 10 can be connected to one another in the arrangement shown (in the sequence shown). The hole patterns of all the separation elements 10 shown are, on the one hand, the same and, on the other hand, asymmetrical in the above sense. However, the separation elements 10 are rotated relative to one another (by multiples of 90°; in the situation shown, by 90° in each case; specifically: by 90° counterclockwise in each case, but the direction of rotation is not important).
[0111] A single tab 12 of each separation element 10 - this also applies to the previously described separation elements 10 - can in principle be inserted into any slot 18 of another separation element 10 (in this embodiment, each separation element 10 has, for example, at least two, preferably two mutually opposite tabs 12 and four slots 18). When inserting all tabs 12 of a separation element (first separation element) 10 into a slot 18 of another separation element (second separation element) 10, there are at least two possibilities for connecting the first separation element 10 to the second separation element 10 in the case of separation elements 10 with rectangular separation areas 14 and four (exactly four) possibilities for connecting the first separation element 10 to the second separation element 10 in the case of separation elements 10 with square separation areas 14. These at least two orFour connection options arise due to the possible rotation of the two separation elements 10 relative to each other. For separation elements 10 with square separation areas 14, the first separation element 10 can be connected to the second separation element 10 with a rotation in 90° increments, resulting in possible orientations of 0°, 90°, 180°, 270°, and 360° (= 0°) – i.e., four different possible orientations – for the first separation element 10. In the case of separation elements 10 with only rectangular separation areas 14 (excluding the special square shape), the first separation element 10 can be connected to the second separation element 10 with a rotation in steps of 180 °, so that the possible orientations of the first separation element 10 are orientations of 0 °, 180 ° and 360 ° (= 0 °) - i.e. two different possible orientations.
[0112] Using separation elements 10 with different partial hole patterns in each quarter of their separation areas 14 - as shown by way of example in Figure 13 - a respective orientation of the separation elements 10 and a rotation of a separation element 10 relative to another separation element 10 can be shown and recognized particularly well. The partial hole patterns and the distribution across the four quarters are expressly shown only as a possible embodiment and for the purpose of better illustrating the following special features of the separation elements 10 proposed here, as well as a separation combination 30 formed therewith, or a separation device 40 formed therewith.
[0113] In a separation device 40 with separation elements 10 rotated relative to one another, a sequence of separation regions 14 results due to the rotation, even if all separation elements 10 have the same asymmetrical hole pattern, which leads to a desired swirling of a raw gas flow R passing through the separation device 40. A separation device 40 which leads to a swirling of a raw gas flow R that is effective for the separation of particles can therefore be formed with identical separation elements 10 (separation elements 10 with the same hole pattern) if they have a corresponding hole pattern and are / are rotated relative to one another when connected to one another. A corresponding hole pattern is a asymmetrical hole pattern, in particular a hole pattern with different partial hole patterns in all four quarters, as is shown by way of example in the illustration in Figure 13.
[0114] The possibility of using identical separation elements 10 (identical parts) to form a separation device 40 complements the advantage already mentioned above of the small space requirement of separation elements 10 in a flat state, because with identical separation elements 10 only one type of separation element 10 needs to be delivered to each respective place of use. A separation device 40 which, when used, leads to a desired vortex formation of the raw gas flow R inside the separation device 40 and between the separation elements 10 encompassed thereby, can be formed by means of identical separation elements 10 simply by rotating the separation elements 10 relative to one another. This can also be done at the place of use without any problems and by untrained personnel. Such identical separation elements 10 are produced, for example, by using the same tool (punching tool).
[0115] The hole pattern of the separation element 10 shown in the illustrations in Figures 1 to 4 is rotationally symmetrical (rotationally invariant), i.e. the separation region 14 and its hole pattern in the separation region 14 always look the same when rotated by 90°, 180°, 270° or 360°. Even for a raw gas stream R flowing through the holes 20 of this hole pattern, there is no difference when rotated by 90°, 180°, 270° or 360°.
[0116] In the case of a hole pattern as shown in the illustration in Figure 13 or generally a non-symmetrical hole pattern, a rotation of the separation element 10 by 90°, 180°, 270° or 360° does make a difference; the hole pattern as a whole looks different and acts differently for a raw gas stream R flowing through the holes 20. This shall be referred to as a rotationally variant hole pattern (a non-symmetrical hole pattern is a rotationally variant hole pattern and vice versa). A rotationally variant hole pattern is characterized, for example, by different partial hole patterns in each quarter of the separation area 14.
[0117] It should be noted that the illustrated hole patterns and partial hole patterns are expressly shown only as examples. Accordingly, other hole patterns, partial hole patterns, and distributions of the partial hole patterns are also possible and are accordingly encompassed by the innovation proposed here. Finally, it should be noted that the illustration with quartered separation areas 14 and the different partial hole patterns evident therein is at least partly due to the purpose of providing the most easily understandable explanation of the proposed innovation. The more general definition of the hole pattern must not be lost sight of: In the case of separation elements 10 with separation areas 14, each with the same hole pattern, which are intended to be combined in a separation combination 30, wherein the separation elements 10 in the separation combination 30 are rotated relative to one another, the respective identical hole pattern is a rotationally variant hole pattern, i.e. a hole pattern which, even when simply viewed, looks different when rotated. This is the case with a hole pattern such as results from an at least imaginary subdivision of the separation area 14 into four quarters and a respective partial hole pattern in each quarter. Such a rotation variance is, however, also given with a variety of other (imaginary) or actual subdivisions of the separation area 14 and respective partial hole patterns in at least individual areas resulting from such a subdivision. As an example, mention should be made of just one (at least imaginary) subdivision of the separation region 14 by means of radial rays emanating from the centroid of the separation region 14 and respective resulting regions as well as a partial hole pattern there between each two adjacent rays and with a number n of rays with n = [2, 3, 4, 5 etc.]. If only one of the partial hole patterns in these resulting regions is different from the other partial hole patterns, a rotationally variant hole pattern is given. A conclusive list of possible rotationally variant hole patterns is not possible due to the multitude of possibilities and the resulting combinatorial explosion. For this reason, the general characteristic of a hole pattern intended for such applications is important, namely the rotation variance.A quartering of the separation area 14 nevertheless represents an advantageous embodiment, since it is immediately apparent, for example, when several separation elements 10 are assembled to form a separation combination 30, whether the separation elements 12 are arranged in the correct manner relative to one another.
[0118] The representations in Figure 14 and Figure 15 each show (in an isometric view and a view from the front, respectively) a separation device 40 as in Figure 11 and Figure 12, but with separation elements 10 as in Figure 13. In particular, the representation in the top view of the separation device 40 (Figure 15), i.e. with a view in the direction of the raw gas flow R flowing in during normal use, clearly shows the complex structure of the surfaces of the separation device 40 which are effective during the separation in different planes (each plane forms a separation stage) resulting from the rotation of the separation elements 10 relative to one another. The surfaces of the separation device 40 which are effective during the separation are the separation areas 14 of the individual separation elements 10 and the different levels result from the distance between the separation elements 10.
[0119] The illustration in Figure 16 shows separation elements 10 as previously described and a frame 32. Specifically, the separation elements 10 are separation elements 10 with a symmetrical hole pattern. Separation elements 10 with a non-symmetrical hole pattern are also conceivable. The separation elements 10 can be connected to one another as previously described and then form a separation combination 30. This is inserted into the frame 32, as also previously described. The special feature of the embodiment shown in Figure 16 is that behind the separation combination 30 ("behind" in the direction of the raw gas flow R) there is another filter and / or separation element, which is shown here in the form of a fleece folded over several times and which is placed together with the separation combination 30 in the frame 32. Together, these components also form a separation device 40.This illustrates the great flexibility of the approach proposed here and illustrates - expressly using a non-exhaustive example - the combinability of the separation elements 10 proposed here with other means intended for separating particles entrained with a raw gas stream R and / or with other means intended for filtering the raw gas stream R. The illustration in Figure 17 shows a structural element 42, in particular a suction wall 42 of a painting system (see
[0120] Fig. 18) functioning structural element 42, with a plurality of compartments 44, wherein each compartment 44 is provided for accommodating at least one separation device 40. The illustrations in Figures 17 and 18 show an upright extraction wall (an extraction wall with a vertically oriented inflow surface). The use of the structural element 42 is also conceivable in a "lying" form, for example, beneath a grating level of a painting system with a horizontally oriented inflow surface.
[0121] The illustration in Figure 17 shows - schematically simplified - a snapshot during the insertion of separation devices 40 into the structural element 42 and the compartments 44 therein. By way of example, it is also shown that exactly one separation device 40 or several separation devices 40 can be inserted into a single compartment 44. The type and number of separation devices 40 in the structural element 42 and the type and number of separation devices 40 in each individual compartment 44 arise from the respective application situation.
[0122] The shape and dimensions of a separation device 40 and of the or each separation element 10 comprised thereby are matched to the shape and dimensions of an individual compartment 44. A compartment 44 or each compartment 44 can also be regarded as a housing (separation housing) for a separation device 40 (or a plurality of separation devices 40). The terms receptacle 44, compartment 44 and housing are synonymous in this respect. The illustration in Figure 18 shows a structural element 42 according to Figure 17 which functions, for example, as an extraction wall 42 of a painting system. In each of the compartments 44 of the extraction wall 42 or at least individual compartments 44 of the extraction wall 42 there is at least one separation device 40 of the type proposed here. With regard to the painting system, an industrial robot acting as a painting robot is shown as an example in front of the extraction wall 42 ("in front" in the direction of the raw gas flow R through the extraction wall 42 and the separation devices 40 there). An object to be painted is not specifically shown. Using a painting system, virtually any object can be painted, for example, vehicle bodies, vehicle body parts, device housings, device housing parts, etc.
[0123] Individual, foreground aspects of the description presented here can be briefly summarized as follows: A separation element (air flow separation element) 10 is specified for separating particles carried along with a raw gas flow and with a separation area 14 and connecting means 12 adjacent to the separation area 14, in particular connecting means 12 extending from the separation area 14 and integrally connected to the separation area 14, for detachably connecting a separation element 10 to another separation element 10. When connected to one another, individually pronounced separation surfaces (impact surfaces) are produced in different planes. The separation area 14 of each separation element 10 is such a separation / impact surface. The different levels result from the distance between the respective separation regions 14 which results when two separation elements 10 are connected to one another. Finally, a separation device (air flow separation device) 40 formed with such separation elements 10 is specified. A separation device 40 with separation elements 10 of the type proposed here can also be referred to as a separation module 40, because such a separation device 40 can be combined in a modular manner with at least one further separation device 40, which likewise comprises separation elements 10 of the type proposed here, and / or with at least one separation device already known in the prior art, for example a separation device of the type mentioned at the outset or the like.
