Abstract
Description
[0001] Present invention concerns a device which allows easy handling of wire ropes, either during a new installation or when replacing old ropes in an existing installation. The device serves the quick and safe installation of the new wire ropes, but also the effective removal of the old ones.
[0002] The suspension of the cabin and the counterweight in an elevator installation is usually done with steel wire ropes. In elevators, wire ropes consisting of individual bundles of strands are used. The bundles are wrapped around a hemp core forming the wire rope.
[0003] The installation of the elevator wire ropes requires careful planning and execution to ensure the subsequent smooth operation and safe use of the elevator. Wire ropes are usually delivered wrapped on spools. Till nowadays, installers have to carefully unwind the wire ropes in such a way that they do not bend and especially so that the wire bundles do not unwind. The ropes are then carefully placed on the lift pulleys, again taking care not to twist the wire bundles. After their installation is completed, the tension of the wire ropes must be adjusted in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and safety requirements. Immediately after installation, adequate control of the operation of the elevator must be carried out. This includes checking the correct movement of the wire ropes, their correct placement and the stability of the system.
[0004] Similar procedure is required when replacing the wire ropes. In this case, the old and used wire ropes must first be removed, and then the new ones shall be installed in the way that was already mentioned.
[0005] Finally, it should be mentioned that the elevator wire ropes are heavy and usually they have to be transferred to the upper floor for their installation. Therefore, a lot of effort and attention is required.
[0006] The object of this invention is to offer an easier way to transport wire ropes, even to the upper level of the shaft.
[0007] Further object of the invention is to present a jig with adjustable diameter, which can be adjusted to the length of the wire ropes, depending on the requirements of each installation.
[0008] The main advantage of the invention is that it allows the safe placement of wire ropes on the pulleys of the elevator, without the installer risking the separation of wire strands.
[0009] Another advantage of the invention is that it can be extended, with an extra addition, so as to obtain an alternative that is useful in cases of maintenance, where it is necessary to change the wire ropes, i.e. remove the old ones and replace them with new ones.
[0010] A further advantage of the invention is that the device can be fully assembled and disassembled, so that it can be assembled at the installation site and disassembled to reduce volume, when this is demanded.FIGURES BRIEF DESCRIPTION
[0011] The invention will become apparent to a person of ordinary skills in the relevant field with reference to the accompanying figures, in which it is depicted in an indicative, non-restrictive way. Figure 1 presents the invention in its simplest form, in a disassembled projection of its individual elements, so that they can be presented in detail. Figure 2 shows the main part of the invention assembled (left), as well as the extra addition (right) leading to the alternative invention for maintenance cases of an existing lift system. Figure 3 shows the invention, in case of maintenance of an existing elevator system, fully assembled. DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION APPLICATION
[0012] Referring now to the accompanying drawings, we will describe indicative applications of the device for handling wire ropes of the invention, as well as its mode of operation.
[0013] Present invention for handling elevator wire ropes consists of a central axis (1a), Fig. 1, with a central cylindrical drum (2a). There are two spacers, one (3a) at the top of the drum (2a) and one (3b) at the bottom of the drum (2a). Two semicircular drums (4a) and (4b) are secured with small pins (5) on the central cylindrical drum (2a). Each semicircular drum (4a), (4b), has in its middle a flattened notch (6a), (6b) into which spacers (3a), (3b) penetrate and fasten. Each spacer (3a), (3b) has at least two holes (7) into which the pin (5) passes and the radius of the circle formed by the two semicircular drums (4a), (4b) is adjusted accordingly. Around the drums (4a), (4b) is placed the wire rope (8a) (wrapped in a coil), Fig. 2, and the spacers lock accordingly so that it stretches. The construction rests on two bipeds (9) to the right and left of the drum. With the use of the handle (10), which is placed on the central axis (1a) we can easily wrap and unwrap the wire rope (8a). The construction is light and can be easily removed.
[0014] In an alternative application of the invention, the invention is used when replacing old wire ropes with new ones. In this case, another drum (2b) is placed in the basic construction so that the old wire rope (8a) is wound on one side, while the new wire rope (8b) will be placed on the adjacent drum (2b), so that afterwards it can be unwound and placed by the installer. In this case, a further integrated system with a central axis (1b) and the central cylindrical drum (2b), with spacers and semicircular drums (4c) and (4d) is required. The central axis (2b) is aligned with the axis (2a) and secured with a ring (11) and a screw (12). On one side of the second drum (2b), another bipod (9) is placed for the overall stability of the system. Regarding the handle (10), it can be a single handle positioned either on the right or left, depending on whether we are winding or unwinding, or it can be two separate handles (10), as shown in Fig. 3.
[0015] Needless to say, that the semicircular drums (4c), (4d) can be adjusted through their spacers so that the circle formed has a different diameter from that of the circle of the first drum.
