Abstract
Description
[0001] Comb brush segment and corresponding round comb brush
[0002] Technical area
[0003] The invention relates to a circular comb brush for cleaning a combing segment of a circular comb of a combing machine.
[0004] Technological background
[0005] In a combing machine, the end of the cotton wool, also called the fiber tuft, is fed through a nipper unit and combed out by a combing segment of a circular comb that is rotatably mounted below the nipper unit. During this process, the combing segment particularly combs out the short fibers not clamped by the nipper unit from the fiber tuft. Other components, such as dirt, neps, and husk fragments, are also combed out during this combing process. The circular comb is located within a suction shaft that is connected to a vacuum source via a suction channel. A portion of the combed-out material is suctioned through the suction channel to a collection point immediately after combing due to the applied vacuum.
[0006] The remaining combed-out portion, which consists of combed-out fibers, for example, becomes stuck between the needles or the clothing teeth of the combing clothing. To ensure a consistent combing effect for the subsequent combing cycle, it is necessary to clean the combing segment before the start of the next combing cycle. During this cleaning process, the components stuck between the needles or teeth of the combing segment are removed by a cleaning element. This is done by a circular comb brush that is mounted so that it can rotate below the circular comb and is provided with bristles around its circumference that engage section by section between the clothing of the combing segment as it rotates. The stuck components are released from the clothing and fed to the extraction channel via the air flow created by the applied negative pressure.
[0007] REPLACEMENT BLADE (RULE 26) After several brushing cycles, the bristles of the circular comb brush become worn, and the circular comb brush must be replaced. To do this, the special union nut must be removed to remove the circular comb brush along with the shaft. Special tools are required for removal, and the process is complicated and requires several technicians.
[0008] Summary of the invention
[0009] The object of the present invention is to provide a circular comb brush for a combing machine of the type mentioned at the outset, which does not have all or part of the disadvantages of the known prior art and enables an improvement in accessibility for maintenance work.
[0010] The object is achieved in whole or in part by the features of the invention. To achieve the object, a comb brush segment for a combing machine is proposed. The comb brush segment comprises
[0011] - at least one outer side, wherein the outer side comprises a plurality of bristle bundles;
[0012] - at least one fastening opening, wherein the at least one fastening opening is configured to fasten the comb brush segment to a shaft of the combing machine; and,
[0013] - at least one cooperating side surface, wherein the at least one cooperating side surface is adapted to cooperate with at least one cooperating side surface of an adjacent comb brush segment to form a circular comb brush.
[0014] In other words, to achieve the object, a comb brush segment for a combing machine is provided, comprising - at least one substantially semi-cylindrical, bowl-shaped base body with o an outer side, wherein the outer side comprises a plurality of bristle bundles; and o an inner side arranged opposite the outer side; and o at least one cooperating side surface, wherein the at least one cooperating side surface is designed to cooperate with at least one cooperating side surface of an adjacent second comb brush segment to form a circular comb brush; and
[0015] - at least one fastening opening arranged on the outside and extending through the base body, wherein the at least one fastening opening is configured to fasten the comb brush segment to a shaft of the combing machine.
[0016] Advantageously, a circular comb brush comprising at least two comb brush segments can be assembled without having to disassemble the combing machine shaft, which is connected to a drive, and without the use of special tools. This saves considerable time during assembly and maintenance, and adjustment of the shaft compared to a circular comb can be avoided. Furthermore, due to the type of attachment possible with a comb brush segment according to the invention, the circular comb brush formed can be wider than the circular comb brushes known from the prior art. In the prior art, the shafts of circular comb brushes had to be fixed with special union nuts. Thanks to the invention, such special union nuts can be dispensed with, allowing the design of wider comb brushes, which allows better and more trouble-free cleaning of the combs of a combing machine.According to one embodiment, the comb brush segment comprises at least one inner side directed towards a shaft of the combing machine, wherein preferably the at least one inner side has at least one shaft contact element.
[0017] According to one embodiment, the comb brush segment comprises an inner side with a substantially semi-cylindrical concave surface which is designed to partially enclose a shaft.
[0018] According to one embodiment, the comb brush segment comprises at least two edge sides located between the at least one outer side, the at least one cooperating side surface, and the at least one inner side, preferably with a concave surface. The extremities of the at least two edge sides form a curved line with the center of the at least one outer side and / or the center of the at least one inner side, or form a broken line having at least two straight sections that form an angle with one another.
[0019] During the rotational movement of the circular comb, particularly at higher rotational speeds, the elastic deformability of the comb brush segment can cause the comb brush segment to bend due to centrifugal force. This causes the bristle bundles to move closer to the teeth of the clothing, resulting in faster wear of the bristle bundles against the clothing. In this embodiment, the design of the comb brush thus takes into account the dynamic forces expected during combing due to brush rotation.
[0020] According to one embodiment, the at least one fastening opening connects the at least one outer side to the at least one inner side.
[0021] The fastening opening is advantageously a through hole. This allows the comb brush segment to be attached to the shaft, for example, using an easily accessible fastening screw, without the need for special tools and without having to adjust or even remove the combing machine shaft for fastening. According to one embodiment, the at least one fastening opening is configured to accommodate a fastening element, preferably a captive screw.
[0022] According to one embodiment, the number of fastening elements is between 1 and 4, preferably between 1 and 3, in particular 2.
[0023] According to one embodiment, the fastening element is located between one fifth and four fifths of the comb brush segment, preferably one quarter and three quarters of the comb brush segment.
[0024] Thanks to one of the above-mentioned configurations, the comb brush segment can be held and secured to the shaft at the same time. This makes attaching the comb brush segment to the shaft easier and simpler.
[0025] According to one embodiment, the at least one fastening opening has a sleeve, preferably a metal sleeve. Such an embodiment offers the advantage that the forces exerted by a fastening element, e.g., a screw, mounted in the fastening opening can be transmitted more evenly into the comb brush segment, thereby reducing stress peaks.
[0026] According to one embodiment, the length of the sleeve between the at least one outer side and the at least one inner side is between 5 mm and 25 mm, preferably between 10 mm and 20 mm, in particular between 13 mm and 17 mm.
[0027] Thanks to one of the above-mentioned configurations, a mechanically particularly competent connection between the fastening element and the comb brush segment can be achieved.
[0028] According to one embodiment, the at least one cooperating side surface of a first comb brush segment has a connecting element which is designed such that it can engage in a corresponding connecting element of a cooperating side surface of an adjacent comb brush segment, thereby creating a positive connection between the first and the second comb brush segment.
[0029] According to one embodiment, the at least one cooperating side surface has a connecting element, whereby a positive connection is created by the interlocking of the at least one cooperating side surface into the at least one cooperating side surface, or the interlocking of the connecting element of the at least one cooperating side surface into the connecting element of the at least one cooperating side surface, of an adjacent comb brush segment.
[0030] Thanks to one of the above-mentioned configurations, at least two cooperating side surfaces can cooperate and join together to form a circular comb brush.
[0031] According to one embodiment, the arrangement of bristle bundles at the edge of the at least one outer side forms a quincunx pattern when the at least one cooperating side surface cooperates with at least one cooperating side surface of an adjacent comb brush segment.
[0032] Advantageously, a plurality of bristle bundles can be arranged along the edge of at least one outer side. The arrangement of the bristle bundles is a repeating row-by-row arrangement of bristle bundles, each row being offset by half the distance between two bristle bundles compared to the previous and / or subsequent row.
[0033] According to one embodiment, the at least one shaft contact element is configured to establish a line contact, preferably an annular line contact, with the shaft of the combing machine.
[0034] Advantageously, the shaft contact element has a contact point for contacting a shaft, so that the comb brush segment, when mounted, is pressed against the shaft by a fastening element in such a way that the base body of the comb brush segment is bent due to elastic deformation. This flexibility of the base body enables better adaptation of the comb brush segment to the shaft.
[0035] The object is achieved in whole or in part by the features of the invention. To achieve the object, a shaft of a combing machine for at least two comb brush segments is proposed. The shaft comprises at least one mounting hole.
[0036] Advantageously, at least two comb brush segments can each be anchored in the same bores in the shaft to form a circular comb brush.
[0037] According to one embodiment, the at least one fastening hole has a thread.
[0038] Advantageously, at least one comb brush segment can be screwed to the shaft.
[0039] A preferred embodiment of a circular comb brush according to the invention for a combing machine comprises at least two comb brush segments according to an embodiment of the invention, and a shaft according to an embodiment of the invention.
[0040] Advantageously, the circular comb brush can be assembled using comb brush segments without dismantling the combing machine shaft and without special tools. This saves considerable time and eliminates the need to adjust the shaft. Furthermore, a circular comb brush constructed according to the invention can be wider than the circular comb brushes known from the prior art.
[0041] To achieve the object, a combing machine is proposed which has at least two comb brush segments according to an embodiment of the invention, and a shaft according to an embodiment of the invention, or a circular comb brush according to an embodiment of the invention.
[0042] With this combing machine, maintenance work, especially the replacement of the circular comb brush, can be performed comparatively quickly compared to conventional combing machines, eliminating the need for special tools. Likewise, the frequency of readjusting the circular comb brushes can be reduced.
[0043] Description of the embodiments

[0050] - Figure 7 is a schematic representation of a circular comb brush 300 according to another embodiment; and,
[0051] - Figure 8 presents a schematic representation of an embodiment of a curvature 109 of the comb brush segment 100.
[0052] The combing machine, shown in Fig. 1, comprises a nipper unit, also called nippers, which performs a back-and-forth movement via the rockers 404, 405. The rockers 404 are rotatably mounted on a circular comb axis 412 and on the nipper 401. The rocker 405, which is rotatably mounted on the nipper 401, is non-rotatably connected to a driven nipper shaft 406. A batt 901 is fed to a feed cylinder 402, which is rotatably mounted within the nipper 401. The batt 901 is unwound from a batt reel (not shown), which rests on winding rollers (also not shown) for the unwinding process.
[0053] In the position shown in Fig. 1, the pliers 401 are open and in a front position in which the end 902 protruding from the pliers, also called the fiber tuft, is placed against the end 903 of an already formed fiber web 904 and soldered to it. The fiber web 904 is held by a tear-off cylinder pair 403 which, for the soldering and tearing process, perform a rotary movement indicated by the arrows and thus move the fiber web 904, or its end 902, in the transport direction 910. In a rear end position (not shown) of the pliers 401, the latter is closed, wherein the fiber tuft 902 protruding from the pliers 401 is combed out by a combing segment or by a set 409 of a rotatably mounted circular comb 408.
[0054] The circular comb 408, which is rotatably mounted in the machine frame via the circular comb shaft 412, is located within a substantially completely enclosed suction shaft 413, which opens into a channel 415. As shown schematically, the channel 415 is connected to a vacuum source 414, by means of which the separated material is fed to a schematically shown collection point 422.
[0055] The separated material consists of short fibers, husk parts, and other impurities, which are combed out of the fiber tuft 902 by the clothing 409 during the combing process. A portion of the combed-out material is transferred directly to channel 415 by the applied negative pressure via the vacuum source 414 and the resulting air flow. The remaining portion, in particular the combed-out fibers, remains in the clothing 409 or settles between clothing teeth 410 and is conveyed downward into the position shown by the rotating movement of the circular comb 408. The clothing 409 thereby enters the effective area of a circular comb brush 420, which is also rotatably mounted in the suction shaft 413 via a shaft 416 and is equipped with bundles of bristles distributed around its circumference.
[0056] In the prior art, the shafts of circular comb brushes must be secured with axially mounted special union nuts. The union nuts are located on the sides of the circular comb brush along the shaft. This type of fastening requires considerable assembly and disassembly time, several experienced technicians, and special tools. The present invention allows this effort to be significantly reduced thanks to a circular comb brush 300. The circular comb brush 300 can comprise a comb brush segment 100 and a shaft 200.
[0057] The comb brush segment 100, the subject of the invention, comprises at least one outer side 110, at least one fastening opening 120, at least one cooperating side surface 130 and at least one inner side 140 directed towards the shaft 200 of the combing machine 400 in the assembled state, as can be seen in Figure 2.
[0058] The at least one outer side 110 comprises a plurality of radially outwardly projecting bristle bundles 310, wherein the bristle bundles 310 are arranged in rows. Preferably, the at least one outer side 110 has a convex surface with at least one first curvature.
[0059] The inner side 140 is located on a side of the comb brush segment 100 opposite the outer side 110. The inner side 140 has a concave surface with at least a second curvature. In the assembled state, the inner side 140 faces the shaft 200 of the combing machine 400 and, in the embodiment shown, has at least one shaft contact element 145, as shown in Figure 2.
[0060] The at least one shaft contact element 145 is configured to establish a linear contact, preferably an annular linear contact, with the shaft 200 of the combing machine 400. This contact point with the shaft, ie, the shaft contact element 145, allows the combing brush segment 100 to bend when the combing brush segment 100 is pressed against the shaft, because the combing brush segment 100 does not have a continuous contact surface with the shaft 200 of the combing machine 400.
[0061] When the comb brush segment 100 is actually pressed against the shaft 200 or is firmly screwed to the shaft 200, the shaft contact element 145 establishes a contact point with the shaft, and thanks to the elastic deformation of the comb brush segment 100, the comb brush segment 100 can be bent, or at least one inner side 140 comes into contact with the shaft 200. Thus, the flexibility of the comb brush segment 100 enables a better adaptation of the comb brush segment 100 to the shaft 200 if the installation space is tight.
[0062] Once in the installation location, the comb brush segment 100 can be fastened to the shaft 200 thanks to the at least one fastening opening 120, preferably two fastening openings 120, each located between one-quarter and three-quarters of the length and / or the width of the comb brush segment 100. The at least one fastening opening 120 can be a through-hole 120 and can connect the at least one outer side 110 to the at least one inner side 140. Depending on the variants, the wall thickness, i.e. the distance between the at least one outer side 110 and the at least one inner side 140, is between 5 mm and 25 mm, preferably between 10 mm and 20 mm, in particular between 13 mm and 17 mm.
[0063] As can be seen in Figure 3, the comb brush segment 100 can be attached to the shaft 200 via a fastening element 301, preferably a captive screw 301. The number of fastening elements 301 could be between 1 and 4, preferably between 1 and 3, in particular 2, and / or the fastening element 301 could be located between one-fifth and four-fifths of the length and / or width of the comb brush segment 100, preferably between one-quarter and three-quarters of the length and / or width of the comb brush segment 100.
[0064] The shaft 200 of the combing machine 400, according to one embodiment of the invention, comprises at least one threaded mounting hole 210, wherein the at least one mounting hole 210 is intended for the at least one comb brush segment 100, preferably for at least two comb brush segments 100. Thus, at least two comb brush segments 100 can each be anchored in the same mounting hole 210 on two different sides of the shaft 200 to form a circular comb brush 300 in conjunction with one another.
[0065] For better force distribution and adhesion of the fastening element 301, or the captive screw 301, to the comb brush segment 100, the fastening opening 120 has a sleeve 125, preferably a metal sleeve 125. According to such an embodiment, a base body 101 of a comb brush segment can be manufactured, for example, from plastic, e.g., by means of a cost-effective injection molding process, since the forces required to sufficiently fasten the comb brush segment 100 to a shaft 200 can be introduced into the base body 101 in an optimally distributed manner by a fastening element 301. This can prevent supercritical stresses and undesirable plastic deformations. This configuration also makes it possible to hold the comb brush segment 100 to the shaft 200 and, at the same time, to fasten it thanks to an accessible fastening element 301, ora captive screw 301, without special tools and without adjusting the shaft 200 of the combing machine 400. This makes the attachment of the comb brush segment 100 to the shaft 200 easier and simpler.
[0066] As can be seen in Fig. 4, the comb brush segment 100, or the mounting hole 120 and / or the sleeve 125, forms a clearance of 0.25 mm to 2 mm, preferably between 0.5 mm and 1.5 mm, in particular between 0.75 mm and 1.25 mm, with the shaft 200. When the comb brush segment 100 is firmly screwed to the shaft 200, the mounting hole 120 and / or the sleeve 125 comes into contact with the shaft 200.
[0067] As mentioned above, in the prior art, the shafts of circular comb brushes must be secured with special axially mounted union nuts. The union nuts are located on the sides of the circular comb brush along the shaft. First, the shaft 416 with the circular comb brush 420 must be adjusted to the correct distance from the circular comb 408. It should not be forgotten that in the prior art, the shaft 416 with the circular comb brush 420 must be secured on both sides. This type of fastening means that the distance between the shaft 416 and the circular comb 408 must be correct on both sides of the previous circular comb brush. In other words, to maintain optimal combing action by the circular comb 408, the combing assembly 409 must be completely cleaned over the previous circular comb brush 420 after each combing operation. To achieve optimal cleaning performance, the distance between the shaft 416 and the circular comb 408 must be readjusted and optimized each time a circular comb brush 420 is replaced. This disadvantage requires considerable assembly and disassembly time, several experienced technicians, and special tools. The present invention allows this effort to be significantly reduced. After a one-time initial adjustment of the shaft 200, it normally does not need to be adjusted when replacing the comb brush segments 100. In such an embodiment, a circular comb brush 300 comprises at least two comb brush segments 100 and the shaft 200, so that the circular comb brush 300 can be assembled with the comb brush segment 100 without dismantling the shaft 200 of the combing machine 400 and without the need for special tools, as already mentioned above.
[0068] Thanks to one of the further aspects of the invention, these special union nuts are eliminated, and the comb brush segment 100 can be wider than the previous circular comb brush 420. Thanks to a wide comb brush segment 100, i.e., a comb brush segment 100 without lateral union nuts, the air channels present via the lateral union nuts are reduced in size. This improves the fluid-dynamic flow pattern in the combing machine 400 during the combing process. In particular, unwanted turbulence in the edge area of the combs can be reduced.
[0069] As shown in Figures 6 & 7, the circular comb brush 300 can be composed of at least two comb brush segments 100. In fact, the at least one cooperating side surface 130 is suitable for cooperating with at least one cooperating side surface 130 of an adjacent comb brush segment 100 to jointly form a circular comb brush 300 in connection with at least one further comb brush segment 100. The at least one cooperating
[0070] Side surface 130 has a connecting element, whereby a positive connection is formed by the at least one cooperating side surface 130 engaging with the at least one cooperating side surface 130 of the adjacent comb brush segment 100, and thus forms a circular comb brush 300. According to one embodiment, the at least one cooperating side surface 130 of the comb brush segments 100 could have a gap of 0.05 mm to 0.2 mm when screwed together. In addition, the shaft contact elements 145, e.g. as illustrated in Figure 8, of the at least two comb brush segments 100, in the assembled state but not screwed tight, ie the captive screw 301 has not reached the stop, the contact lines come together and a continuous annular line contact or contact surface is formed on the shaft 200. As mentioned above, When the comb brush segment 100 is tightly screwed to the shaft 200, iewhen the captive screw 301 has reached the stop, the mounting hole 120 and / or the sleeve 125 comes into contact with the shaft 200, as mentioned above.
[0071] When the at least one cooperating side surface 130 cooperates with at least one cooperating side surface 130 of an adjacent comb brush segment 100, the arrangement of bristle bundles 310 at the edge 111 of the at least one outer side 110 forms a quincunx pattern 115, as illustrated in Figures 5 & 6. This arrangement of bristle bundles 310 is a repeating, row-by-row arrangement of bristle bundles 310, which is offset at each line 107 by approximately half the distance between two bristle bundles 310 from the preceding and / or subsequent row. Thus, a plurality of bristle bundles 310 can be attached to the edge 111 of the at least one outer side 110.
[0072] This saves a lot of time and avoids adjusting the shaft 200, which is set relative to a circular comb. Furthermore, due to the type of fastening possible with a comb brush segment according to the invention, the resulting circular comb brush 300 can be wider than the circular comb brushes known from the prior art.
[0073] As can be seen in Figure 8, the comb brush segment 100 can be curved and can include at least two edge sides 103 because the comb brush segment 100 is not screwed to the shaft 200. The at least two edge sides 103 are located between the at least one outer side 110, the at least one cooperating side surface 130, and the at least one inner side 140. In other words, the at least two edge sides 103 can be lateral edges of the comb brush segment 100, whereas the at least one cooperating side surface 130 can be the longitudinal edge.
[0074] The extremities 105 of the at least two edge sides 103, ie the upper edges or the lower edges of the at least two edge sides 103 can form a curved line 107 with the center of the at least one outer side 110 and / or the center of the at least one inner side 140, and thus form a curvature 109 of the comb brush segment 100, as shown in Figure 8. Alternatively, the extremities 105 of the at least two edge sides 103 can form a broken line with the center of the at least one outer side 110 and / or the center of the at least one inner side 140, which has at least two straight sections and / or an angle, which can form an angle with each other and also the curvature 109 of the comb brush segment 100. The formed line 107, iethe curved line 107, or the broken line, may be more or less parallel to the at least one cooperating side surface 130 and / or at right angles to at least one of the extremities 105 of the at least two edge sides 103.
[0075] When used in a combing machine, the circular comb brush 300 is driven by a drive motor, and the circular comb brush 300 is positioned such that the ends of the outwardly projecting bristle bundle 310 engage between the teeth 410 of the clothing 409. This means that during the rotational movement of the circular comb 408, due to the higher speed of the circular comb brush 300, a large number of bristle bundles 310 come into engagement with the clothing 409. In addition, at the higher speed of the circular comb brush 300, i.e. due to the centrifugal force and thanks to the elastic deformation of the comb brush segment 100, the comb brush segment 100 can bend, and at the same time the bristle bundles 310 can approach the teeth 410 of the clothing 409.Because the comb brush segment 100 is screwed to the shaft 200, the curvature 109 is flattened and a tension is created on the extremities of the comb brush segment 100, which presses the comb brush segment 100 and its extremities against the shaft 200.
[0076] In other words, the curvature 109 of the comb brush segment 100 can be flattened by the screwed fastening elements 301, or the curved line 107 or the broken line can be made more or less straight, which leads to the bristle bundles 310 located on the extremities 105 being at the same height as the bristle bundles 310 located in the middle of at least one outer side 110. In this way, a better degree of cleaning of the set is achieved because the set is combed out over its entire length and evenly. During this process, the combed-out components still present in the set 409 or between its set teeth 410 are actually loosened by the bristles of the bristle bundle 310 and a better degree of cleaning for keeping the set clean is achieved thanks to the flexibility of the comb brush segment 100, and thus a better adaptation of the bristle bundles 310 to the set 409 is achieved.
[0077] Alternatively, the extremities 105 of the at least two edge sides 103 can also be designed such that, in the assembled state of a
[0078] Press the comb brush segment 100 against the shaft with a defined centripetal force, wherein this defined centripetal force is greater than or substantially equal to the maximum centrifugal force expected to act on the comb brush during operation of the combing machine. This prevents undesirable deformation of the edge sides 103 and the resulting uneven wear of the bristles during combing.
