[0003] The present invention relates to an accessory, which may be used for holding pets and (domestic) animals and more specifically to a collar and a leash with handle.
[0004] BACKGROUND
[0005] Dog collars and leashes designed to be used for walking and controlling large dogs must present certain characteristics such as resistance to pulling and a high degree of sturdiness. As a consequence, the leashes and collars for large dogs that are available in the art are made of rough materials and are often bulky, focusing on functionality rather than the aesthetic appearance of the object.
[0006] As many dog owners consider their pet part of the family, more attention is brought to the decorative aspect of dog accessories. As a consequence, a new market arises for luxury dog accessories, such as embellished leashes and collars. However, the currently available dog leashes and collars with jewelry-like aspects are designed for small dogs as dainty materials are not sufficiently sturdy for large dogs.
[0007] Covering a leash or collar made of sturdy material with a decorative layer would solve some of these issues.
[0008] A dog accessory is known from JPH10127199, which is disclosing a nylon-coated stainless steel wire, which is interpolated in the hollow inner part of a tube-shaped mesh (braid) and one end of the stainless steel wire is fixed to a mounting opening of a cable crimp (clamp) to which one end of the tube-shaped mesh is fixed. The wire is coated with nylon or polycarbonate or Teflon synthetic resin or the like.
[0009] Such an accessory according to the preamble is also known from JP4918195, which is a flexible structure, comprising an inner structure surrounded at least in part by an outer structure. The inner structure is a cord, formed by twisting a plurality of aligned steel wires. Each end of the cord is folded back to form a loop that is held in place by a cable crimp. The outer structure is a sheath, formed by a decorative material, which has its ends fixed into a fastening element. These known dog collars and leashes are focused solely on the practical aspect, while compromising on the design.
[0010] The present invention aims to resolve at least some of the problems and disadvantages mentioned above thereof serve to provide a solution, which can be used for holding larger animals such as dogs as large as 250 kg or more, without compromising on the appearance.
[0011] SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
[0012] To this end, the present invention relates to an accessory, which includes a flexible structure, comprising an inner structure, surrounded at least in part by an outer structure according to claim 1. The inner structure is a cord, formed by twisting a plurality of aligned steel wires. Each end of the cord is folded back to form a loop that is held in place by a swage sleeve. The outer structure is a sheath, formed by a decorative material, which has its ends fixed inside a fastening element.
[0013] Preferred embodiments of the accessory are shown in any of claims 2 to 19. In particular, the invention relates to a collar, according to claims 17-19 and to a leash according to claims 10-16.

Steel wires are stable in time, lightweight and are characterized by high tensile strength and high weather resistance. Kevlar or any other strong and flexible material may alternatively be used for the twisted wire of the inside portion of said accessory.

Any cable fixing means known in the art may alternatively be used to fix the loop such as hourglass sleeves, rope clips or the like. CLAIMS1. An accessory for an animal preferably a pet, comprising at least one flexible structure (1), comprising an inner portion (2) surrounded at least in part by an outer portion (3), wherein the inner portion (2) is a cord (4), formed by twisting a plurality of wires and wherein each end of the cord (4) is folded back to form a loop (5) that is held in place by a swage sleeve (6), wherein the outer portion (3) is made of a decorative material, which has its ends fixed inside a fastening element, characterized in that the fastening element is a cover shell (8) with a coupling opening (9) and the decorative material of the outer portion (3) is a mesh or mesh-like structure (10).
2. Accessory according to claim 1 wherein the mesh or mesh-like structure (10) is made of metal.
3. Accessory according to any of the claims 1 or 2 wherein the ends of the mesh or mesh-like structure (10) are soldered to the cover shell (8) and wherein the cord (4) is surrounded by the mesh or mesh-like structure (10).
4. Accessory according to any of claims 1 to 3 wherein the loop (5) and the swage sleeve (6) are positioned inside the cover shell (8).
5. Accessory according to any of the claims 1 to 3, wherein the swage sleeve (6) is covered by the decorative layer of the outer portion (3).
6. Accessory according to any of the previous claims, wherein the loop (5) is positioned around the coupling opening (9) of the cover shell (8).
7. Accessory according to claims 2 to 6, wherein the mesh or mesh-like structure (10) is made of brass.

19. Accessory according to any of the claims 16 or 17, wherein the collar is formed by coupling rings and / or chains fitted to the coupling opening (9) of the flexible structure (1) with a connection member (11).

An assembly comprising a leash according to any of the claims 7 to 12 and a collar according to any of the claims 13 to 15, wherein the leash and the collar are attached to each other by joining the cover shell of the free end of the cord member of the leash to the connection member of the collar.
21. Assembly according to claim 16, wherein the connection member is a snap hook.
