Abstract

The present invention is directed to a kit for providing a luminaire (1), particularly a streetlight luminaire. The kit as well as the luminaire (1) itself comprise a luminaire body (2) defining a space (S) for receiving lighting electrics (3), including a light source (30), and a ring shaped cover element (4) for covering at least part of the space (S). The cover element (4) comprises at least two ring segments (5). [0001] KIT FOR PROVIDING A LUMINAIRE AND A LUMINAIRE

[0002] The present invention is directed to a kit for providing a luminaire having a luminaire body and a cover element, as well as to a luminaire preferably obtained by said kit.

[0003] Luminaires, particularly street light luminaires, are well known. These luminaires are often positioned at prominent places so that a well aesthetic appearance is required. In addition, intelligent lighting using sensors and other electronic parts recently became more and more important. For optimal positioning of such electronic parts, they need to be placed at the luminaire itself and often at a position being visible from outside.

[0004] It is thus an object of the present invention to provide a kit for providing a luminaire as well as such a luminaire, which allow for selectively equipping the luminaire with a functional element in an easy way without severely affecting the aesthetical appearance of the luminaire.

[0005] This object is obtained by the independent claims. The dependent claims study further the central idea of the present invention.

[0006] According to a first aspect, the present invention is directed to a kit for providing a luminaire, particularly a street light luminaire. The kit comprises a luminaire body defining a space for receiving lighting electrics, including a light source. The kit further comprises a ring shaped cover element for covering at least part of the space. The cover element comprises at least two ring segments. At least one of the ring segments is a functional ring segment being removably attachable or attached relative to the luminaire body to cover, with a cover section of the functional ring segment, an access opening to access the space. The kit comprises at least two types of the functional ring segments for alternative use. A first type of the functional ring segments is a blank cover. A second type of the functional ring segments is a functional cover comprising an electrical component.

[0007] With the inventive kit it is possible to provide a luminaire with a ring shaped cover element thus having a well aesthetical appearance. To allow for an easy integration of an electrical component to equip the luminaire with a corresponding function, at least one of the ring segments can be the functional ring segment. To equip the electrical component, a corresponding functional cover can be used. In case of a luminaire not requiring (for all functional ring segments or in general) the corresponding function, a blank cover can be used as the functional ring segment. Hence, the luminaire can be equipped with our without such a function without severely affecting the aesthetical appearance of the luminaire. The electrical component may comprise an electrical interface element. Hence, the luminaire can be selectively equipped with a means, namely an electrical interface element, so as to provide any desired feature or function, like sensors, for controlling the luminaire. As the functional ring segment covers an access opening to the space, the electrical interface element can be easily connected with means, namely the lighting electrics, received in the space. Hence, an intelligent luminaire can be easily provided by the kit.

[0008] The electrical interface element may comprise a Zhaga interface element and more preferred a Zhaga Book 18 smart interface element. Hence, standardised electrical interface elements can be used to allow for easily equipping and controlling the luminaire with any desired function.

[0009] Each of the ring segments may be one of the functional ring segments. Hence, all of the ring segments can be selectively provided with either a blank cover or a functional ring segment and thus be selectively equipped, as desired. All of these ring segments thus allow for an easy access to the space via the so covered access opening, which allows for an easy assembly and electrification of the luminaire.

[0010] The ring segments preferably all have the same or identical circumferential extension. Hence, a high aesthetical appearance can be obtained, while allowing for an easy provision of the respective functional ring segment and easy access to the space, as desired.

Also, all of the functional ring segments can be used at any desired position, thus resulting in an easy assembly and severely reduced number of different pieces due to the given same parts.

If provided at the functional ring segment, the supporting structure can be provided to the luminaire, as desired, upon assembly thereof. According to a particular embodiment, the at least one of the ring segments and preferably the functional ring segment may comprise the mechanical connection port. Hence, the luminaire can be easily equipped with a means to mount the luminaire to a corresponding support element, as desired.

When being in the desired mounting angle a position, a fixing element 19 (like a screw; here there are shown two screws) is provided to fixedly connect the two cooperating elements (here the spigot 16 to the (functional) ring segment 5 (6)). The fixing element 19 may be provided such that it can slightly be loosened to still connect the two cooperating elements, but to allow to move / slide these elements relative to each other (here preferably substantially along the cooperating curved or slanted connection surfaces 160, 161) to thus change between the respective mounting angle a positions within the respective same mounting orientation; e.g. in 50steps). To allow switching between the “vertical” version and the “horizontal” version, the fixing elements 19 may be removed, the cooperating elements (e.g. spigot 16 and (functional) ring segment 5 (6)) be rotated about the axis X by 180°, and the fixing elements 19 be attached again. In this orientation, the mounting angle a position maybe adjusted as just described, i.e. preferably before providing or fully tightening the fixing element(s) 19. Preferably once the fixing elements 19 are fixed, a space of the (functional) ring segment 5 (6)) in which the fixing elements 19 are at least partially received can be closed by a cover member 21 which can also be secured by another fixing element 20 (here another screw).
