Abstract

The invention relates to a packaging method and machine for closing a box with a lid (30) comprising a rectangular central panel (31) and four side flaps (33), the method comprising the steps of: - transferring the box and the lid (30) to a closing station where the lid is positioned horizontally, vertically in line with the box, the two transverse side flaps (33) of the lid being retained, during the transfer of the latter, in a partially downward folded position; - bringing the box and the lid together by sliding vertically such that the top edge of the box comes into contact with the central panel; - folding and pressing the four side flaps, for a predetermined time, against the upper portions of the side walls of the box so as to ensure the attachment of the lid to the box by gluing.
