Description

[0001] Elongated luminaire support rail system

[0002] Description:

[0003] The present invention relates to an elongated luminaire support rail system with an elongated support profile rail, an electrical connection element received in the support profile rail, a cover element for at least partially covering an elongated insertion opening of the support profile rail, and an end cap for covering open end faces of the support profile rail.

[0004] Elongated support rail systems, often referred to as continuous-row lighting systems, are well-known in the art. Different types of cover elements can be detachably attached to their support rails to create a customized lighting arrangement. Some or all of the cover elements are designed as electrically operated components—i.e., electrical or electronic components—that can be electrically coupled to the electrical connection element via the insertion opening for selective operation. Various components are used as cover elements, such as light bars, spotlights, sensors, loudspeakers, and the like, as well as simple covers such as panels.

[0005] Due to the high variability of such continuous-row lighting systems, a wide range of components is available, which can generally be combined with one another in any way. In particular, several cover elements are usually arranged in a row along the longitudinal extension of the support rail. Several support rails can also be arranged in a row.

[0006] When fully assembled, the cover elements should ideally cover the support profile rail or the adjacent support profile rails over their entire length. Due to manufacturing tolerances and length changes due to operating temperatures, the use of different cover elements of different lengths and the optional insertion of axial sealing elements, it is conceivable that the overall length of the support profile rail(s) on the one hand and the cover elements arranged in series on the other hand may differ. If the lengths do not match, a cover strip that is easy to cut to size - e.g. made of plastic - is usually used to cover any areas of the insertion opening that may remain open. Alternatively, it is conceivable that the support profile rail can be cut to the desired length. Even then, it is still conceivable that, due to manufacturing-related length tolerances on the one hand and possibly inaccurate assembly work orOn the other hand, during shortening work, the total lengths of the support profile rail(s) on the one hand and the (adjacent) cover elements on the other hand do not match, which may result in protrusions or areas open towards the interior of the system. If the length of the support profile rail(s) is greater than that of the cover elements, the insertion opening, for example, may be partially uncovered, which on the one hand detracts from the aesthetic appearance of the luminaire and on the other hand allows dust and possibly moisture to penetrate. This can also pose a risk of an operator accidentally touching the interior of the luminaire support rail system. If the length of the support profile rail(s) is shorter than that of the cover elements, this can be disadvantageous, at least from an aesthetic point of view, and may prevent or at least complicate the termination of the support rail system with existing end caps. End caps may then have to be replaced.be individually reworked to close the front sides of the system.

[0007] It is therefore an object of the present invention to provide an elongated luminaire support rail system of the type mentioned at the outset which, in addition to a high degree of component variability, enables a functional and preferably also aesthetically pleasing termination in an axial end region of the luminaire support rail system, even with given length tolerances.

[0008] This problem is solved by the subject matter of the independent claim. The dependent claims develop the central idea of the present invention in a particularly advantageous manner.

[0009] According to one aspect, the present invention relates to an elongated luminaire support rail system. This has a support profile rail which extends elongately along a longitudinal axis and delimits a connection space. The luminaire support rail system furthermore has an electrical connection element which is provided in the connection space. The luminaire support rail system furthermore has a cover element and an end cap. The support profile rail in turn has two side wall legs which are opposite one another with respect to the longitudinal axis and which extend axially longitudinally (e.g. parallel to the longitudinal axis) with respect to the longitudinal axis in order to delimit the connection space therebetween. The support profile rail furthermore has aparallel to the longitudinal axis) extending insertion opening, through which an electrical or electronic component can be at least partially inserted from the outside into the connection space in order to be electrically coupled to the electrical connection element. Each of the side wall legs has a longitudinal edge section extending axially longitudinally (e.g. parallel to the longitudinal axis), which delimits the insertion opening and a receiving space of the connection space on the insertion opening side therebetween. The cover element is designed such that it can be detachably coupled to the support profile rail so that it spans the insertion opening transversely to the longitudinal axis, covering it, and a section of the cover element coupled in this way projects beyond the insertion opening into the receiving space (thus radially with respect to the longitudinal axis). The end cap is designed to cover, in a covering position, an end opening of the support profile rail that is axial relative to the longitudinal axis and is preferably open to the insertion opening. The end cap has an extension section that delimits an extension space that, in the covering position, only axially extends the receiving space of the connection compartment and is open radially outward. This allows, when the cover element is coupled to the support profile rail, a portion of the cover element section that projects axially beyond the support profile rail to project radially into the extension space.

[0010] By using a suitably designed end cap, it is possible to accommodate a section of the cover element that projects into the receiving space, even if the cover element projects axially beyond the support rail, due to the continuation of the receiving space into the extension space. This allows length tolerances between the support rail on the one hand and the cover element on the other to be reliably accommodated. Depending on the length of the extension space, length tolerances in both axial directions can be safely accommodated with or in the end cap. The extension space only continues the receiving space and thus forms a spatial boundary to the interior of the end cap or support rail. This reliably prevents access to the interior of the luminaire support rail system, regardless of any length tolerances.A possible continuation of the remainder of the connection space (i.e. connection space without the receiving space) into the end cap is conceivable, but would then also be spatially separated from the extension space by the extension section. This enables an aesthetically pleasing appearance while securely covering the luminaire support rail system from the outside. By providing a suitable end cap, functional coverage can be achieved even in the front area of the luminaire support rail system within a defined and arbitrarily definable tolerance range between the total lengths of the support profile rail on the one hand and the cover element on the other. Consequently, assembly effort can be reduced compared to conventional systems, while at the same time, production-related or assembly-related length tolerances can be reliably accommodated, thus having no impact on the safety or aesthetic appearance of the luminaire support rail system.

[0011] The support profile rail can have a connecting leg connecting the side wall legs, which preferably delimits the connection space together with the side wall legs. The connecting leg can preferably be provided at an end of the side wall legs facing away from the longitudinal edge sections or the insertion opening or can extend between the side wall legs. The luminaire support rail system can thus preferably have a U-shaped, V-shaped, or C-shaped cross-section, viewed in the direction of the longitudinal axis. This makes it possible to provide a stable and preferably torsion-resistant support profile rail. Furthermore, the connection space is thus closed around the circumference with respect to the longitudinal axis - with the exception of the insertion opening.

[0012] The end cap preferably has a wall section that extends axially away from the support rail in the covering position. The end cap can thus effectively cover the front of the support rail. Furthermore, the wall section extending in this way enables a simple design that allows the end cap to protrude as far as desired, which in turn allows for any desired tolerance range to be created to accommodate length tolerances in the extension space.

[0013] The axial continuation of the support profile rail through the end cap can also create an aesthetically pleasing appearance of the system.

[0014] The wall section preferably continues the contour of the side wall legs and, if present, preferably also the contour of the connecting leg, at least partially axially (e.g., parallel to the longitudinal axis). This further enhances the aesthetic appearance of the luminaire support rail system. It also allows for a secure connection of the end cap to the support profile rail in a simple manner.

[0015] The wall section can preferably be designed such that, in the covering position of the end cap, it extends axially from the end opening by at least 5 mm, or at least 10 mm, or at least 12 mm, or at least 15 mm, or at least 20 mm from the support rail. Depending on the extension of the wall section, a desired tolerance range can be provided to accommodate any length tolerances in the extension space of cover elements projecting axially beyond the support rail.

[0016] The end cap preferably has a front cover wall to axially cover the front opening when the end cap is in the covering position. This provides a simple and effective design for covering the front of the luminaire support rail system.

[0017] The cover wall can preferably be provided on the wall section on a side of the wall section facing away from the support profile rail. This allows for a simple assembly of the end cap.

[0018] A portion of the wall section and preferably also a portion of the cover wall, if present, can preferably form part of the extension section. Thus, the extension section can be provided in a simple manner. Since the extension section is partially defined by sections of the end cap that generally define the outside of the end cap, the volume of the extension space can be maximized.

[0019] The extension section can preferably have a cover section configured such that, in the covering position of the end cap, it extends axially longitudinally to cover the extension space along the longitudinal axis. The cover section can, for example, be plate-shaped. The cover section allows the extension space to be defined simply but effectively.

[0020] The cover section can preferably be designed such that, in the covering position of the end cap, it extends over the front side opening into the connection space in order to at least partially cover the receiving space towards the longitudinal axis and preferably spanning the two side wall legs or the receiving space in the direction transverse to the longitudinal axis.

[0021] Because the cover section extends into the connection compartment and covers the receiving space at the top (i.e., towards the inside of the support rail), the luminaire support rail system can be securely covered by the end cap even if the cover element does not extend all the way to the front end of the support rail. This reliably prevents unwanted openings, even if the cover element is too short or the support rail is too long. Because the cover section preferably spans the receiving space towards the interior of the support rail, this not only reliably prevents access to the interior of the system, but also creates an aesthetically pleasing appearance even if the support rail overhangs the cover element.

[0022] The cover section can preferably be designed such that, in the covering position of the end cap, it extends axially from the front opening at least 5 mm, or at least 10 mm, or at least 12 mm, or at least 15 mm into the connection space (and beyond the receiving space). This allows any length tolerances regarding the shorter length of the cover elements relative to the support profile rail to be reliably accommodated.

[0023] The extension section or, if present, its cover section can preferably be designed such that, in the covering position of the end cap, it extends axially from the end face opening by at least 5 mm, or at least 10 mm, or at least 12 mm, or at least 15 mm from the support profile rail. The extension space then preferably extends away from the support profile rail by the same amount or extends the receiving space by exactly this amount into the end cap. Thus, any length tolerances regarding an excess length of the cover elements relative to the support profile rail can be reliably accommodated.

[0024] The longitudinal edge sections preferably each have a coupling profile that laterally delimits the insertion opening, viewed in the direction of the longitudinal axis, via which the cover element and / or the end cap can preferably be releasably coupled to the support profile rail. This provides a simple structural section that enables, for example, the mechanical coupling of components (such as the cover elements or the end cap).

[0025] The coupling profiles preferably each protrude toward the connection space, preferably toward each other. In this way, the coupling profile can be provided effectively on the one hand, and preferably concealed by the cover element in the assembled state of the luminaire support rail system on the other, thereby further enhancing the aesthetic appearance of the luminaire support rail system. The coupling profiles can preferably delimit the receiving space at least partially (laterally or between them). This easily provides a large and effective receiving space.

[0026] The coupling profiles preferably extend axially longitudinally (e.g., parallel to the longitudinal axis) continuously or intermittently; this is particularly preferred over the entire length of the support profile rail. A continuous extension of the respective coupling profile enables a stable and secure provision of this coupling profile, preferably for installation or even for mechanical coupling to cover elements and the like. An intermittent extension of the respective coupling profile enables material savings and can also be used for other purposes, such as as a defined length marking. An intermittent extension can also be used, for example, for the passage of component sections (e.g., the cover elements) or cables and the like.

[0027] The end cap preferably has profile contours that axially extend the respective coupling profiles when in the covering position. The appropriately designed end cap allows a cover element that extends axially beyond the support profile rail to continue this functional interaction with the coupling profiles in the end cap, in line with the functional interaction with the coupling profiles. This allows the end cap to be effectively integrated into the overall system.

[0028] The profile contours preferably delimit the expansion space at least partially. This allows the profile contours to be effectively provided and thus the expansion space to be used effectively.

[0029] The longitudinal edge sections, preferably the coupling profiles or a part of the respective coupling profiles, preferably each have an interruption at regular intervals along the longitudinal axis; preferably every 250 mm along the longitudinal axis. These interruptions can, for example, be provided such that the corresponding coupling profile, for example, extends intermittently axially longitudinally (e.g. parallel to the longitudinal axis), as described above. The respective interruptions can also be provided only partially in the corresponding coupling profile. The interruptions at regular intervals can in any case preferably be used as a visual marking, for example to simplify the provision of cover elements. In particular, this makes it clear to an installer whether assembly is being carried out with excess or shorter length.Since this marking is provided integrally in the support profile rail, it can be easily provided directly during the production of the support profile rail, whereby it can be provided essentially cost-neutrally.

[0030] The support profile rail is preferably made of metal or sheet metal.

[0031] The end cap is preferably made of a plastic, for example by an injection molding process.

[0032] Preferably, both opposite end openings or all outwardly exposed end openings of the luminaire support rail system can be covered with a corresponding end cap.

[0033] The connection compartment is preferably sealed to the outside according to a defined protection class, preferably at least IP54. The luminaire support rail system can thus be used with good protection even in dusty or humid environments.

[0034] In an axial joint area between the end cap (in the cover position) and the support rail, a seal can preferably be provided to seal off the terminal compartment. This allows for an effective seal to be provided in the area of the end cap, as it can be clamped between the end cap and the support rail in a defined manner, preferably in the direction of insertion of the end cap, thus creating a defined sealing effect.

[0035] The cover element preferably has a cover cap on at least one or both end faces opposite each other with respect to the longitudinal axis. This cover cap allows the end regions of the cover elements to be formed in any desired manner. This can be done, for example, to achieve an aesthetically pleasing end region. It is also conceivable for the cover element to be closed and preferably sealed at the end face in this way.

[0036] The cover cap can preferably be designed such that, when the cover element is coupled to the support rail, it engages radially with the extension section or, if present, its cover section with respect to the longitudinal axis; this preferably forms a seal against the terminal compartment. Thus, the cover element can easily create a seal against the end cap, so that the terminal compartment is well protected against the ingress of dust and / or moisture.

[0037] Regardless of a possible cover cap, it is also conceivable, alternatively or additionally, to provide a seal to seal off the connection compartment in the area between the coupled cover element and the end cap (in particular its extension section or cover section) in the covering position and / or between the coupled cover element and the support profile rail. This allows a luminaire support rail system with an overall defined and preferably high protection rating, such as IP54 and higher, to be provided particularly easily and individually. This is all the more true if the respective seals are provided as separate parts. These can be easily replaced, for example, if they become brittle. Furthermore, the luminaire support rail system can be variably adjusted to suit different protection ratings as needed and according to customer requirements.

[0038] The cover element can have at least one cover, such as a panel. This can preferably be an aesthetic cover and / or an optical cover and / or a preferably translucent cover and / or a functional and preferably opaque or translucent cover, and the like. The cover element can also have at least the electrical and / or electronic component. This component can, for example, have or be a luminaire (e.g., a light module, a light bar, a spotlight, an emergency light, a guidance light, and the like), a sensor, a radio module, a loudspeaker, and the like. From the aforementioned cover elements, the luminaire support rail system can be equipped in any desired manner with one or more of these cover elements or with one or more types of these cover elements. For example, desired areas can be equipped with light bars to provide room lighting. Spotlights can also be installed at specific locations to enable directed light emission. Furthermore, sensors, such as light sensors or motion sensors, can be installed at other defined locations to enable control of the luminaire support rail system. Areas not covered by the aforementioned electrical or electronic components can be fitted with covers / shields, which can be translucent or opaque as desired.

[0039] The (electrical or electronic) component can preferably have an electrical coupling element for insertion into the connection compartment and there for electrical coupling to the electrical connection element, and preferably also for mechanical coupling to the support profile rail. The electrical coupling element can be designed, for example, as a so-called rotary knob, which brings electrical contacts into electrical contact with the electrical connection element by rotation about its vertical axis. The electrical contacts of the rotary knob preferably extend laterally and thus into a so-called busbar, in which electrical conductors laid in longitudinal grooves are provided, via which power and / or data and the like can then be provided. The rotary knob can further comprise mechanical coupling structures which, when rotated about its vertical axis, are also extended laterally and thus, for example, are brought into engagement with the coupling structures in order to achieve a positive connection for supporting the cover element on the support profile rail.

[0040] The elongated luminaire support rail system can preferably comprise several cover elements, which are preferably arranged in a row along the end face in the direction of the longitudinal axis. Thus, as already described, the luminaire support rail can be configured in any desired manner.

[0041] The electrical connection element can preferably have at least one elongated busbar, which preferably extends axially lengthwise (e.g., parallel to the longitudinal axis) and more preferably along at least one of the side wall legs and / or, if present, along the connecting leg. This provides a simple contacting option for electrically contacting corresponding cover elements (e.g., electrical or electronic components). If the electrical connection element is also provided on the corresponding legs of the support profile rail, these can be easily and stably supported in the support profile rail. Depending on the desired contacting option, corresponding electrical connection elements or busbars can be provided on one side, both sides, and / or the rear of the support profile rail.

[0042] The elongated luminaire support rail system can furthermore preferably comprise a plurality of support profile rails, which are preferably arranged in a row at the end face in the direction of the longitudinal axis. Thus, a luminaire support rail system of any length and branching can be provided. The more of these support profile rails are arranged in a row, the higher the length tolerance can be, and the more effectively these length tolerances can be concealed by means of the end cap according to the invention.

[0043] The connection spaces of adjacent support rails can preferably be connected to one another. The elongated insertion openings of adjacent support rails can extend into one another; this is particularly preferably flush. The electrical connection elements of adjacent support rails are preferably electrically and more preferably mechanically connected to one another and more preferably extend flush with one another. Alternatively or additionally, it is also conceivable for one electrical connection element to extend over several adjacent support rails. The formation of a common, continuous connection space enables a particularly flexible arrangement of cover elements and the use of the receiving space thus provided. The provision of a continuous, elongated insertion opening enables the provision of cover elements over the entire length of the luminaire support rail system, even when several support rails are arranged in series. The connection of the electrical connection elements enables a particularly simple electrical supply, particularly for electrical or electronic components (preferably in the form of cover elements), regardless of their positioning along the (entire) length of the luminaire support rail system. If electrical connection elements also extend across several adjacent support rails, the number of components and the installation effort can be reduced.

[0056] Fig. 13 is a perspective view of an elongated luminaire support rail system according to another embodiment of the present invention.

[0057] The figures show different embodiments, components and installation situations of an elongated luminaire support rail system 1 according to the invention. The luminaire support rail system 1 has a support profile rail 2 which extends elongately along a longitudinal axis X (cf. in particular Figs. 1, 3, 6, 9 and 13) and which delimits a connection space A. The luminaire support rail system 1 can also have a plurality of support profile rails 2, which are then preferably arranged in a row at the end in the direction of the longitudinal axis X (cf. e.g. Fig. 12). In principle, the support profile rails 2 can also be arranged in any desired manner, branching off from one another. The connection spaces A of adjacent support profile rails 2 are preferably connected to one another in order to form a coherent system interior. The support profile rail 2 has two side wall legs 6 which are opposite one another with respect to the longitudinal axis X and which extend axially longitudinally with respect to the longitudinal axis X - here preferably parallel to the longitudinal axis X - in order to delimit the connection space A therebetween.

[0058] The luminaire support rail system 1 further comprises an electrical connection element 3, which is provided in the connection space A. The electrical connection element 3 can preferably comprise an elongated busbar, which particularly preferably extends axially longitudinally—here preferably parallel to the longitudinal axis X—in the connection space A, as indicated, for example, in Fig. 1. The busbar 3 can comprise a plurality of axially extending conductors 30.

[0059] The support profile rail 2 has an axially longitudinally extending insertion opening 20 - here preferably parallel to the longitudinal axis X - through which an electrical or electronic component 40 can be inserted from the outside at least partially into the connection space A in order to be electrically coupled to the electrical connection element 3, as is also indicated in Fig. 1.

[0060] Each of the side wall legs 6 has a longitudinal edge section 7 extending axially longitudinally - here preferably parallel to the longitudinal axis X - which delimits the insertion opening 20 and an insertion opening-side receiving space R of the connection space A therebetween, as can also be seen from Fig. 1 and also from Figs. 3, 5 and 13.

[0061] If several support profile rails 2 are provided, the insertion openings 20 of adjacent support profile rails 2 can extend into one another; this is preferably flush.

[0062] The support profile rail 2 can have a connecting leg 9 connecting the side wall legs 6. This can, as can be seen from Figs. 1, 3, 6 and 9, for example, be provided at an end of the side wall legs 6 facing away from the longitudinal edge sections 7 or the insertion opening 20. The connecting leg 9 then preferably delimits the connection space A together with the side wall legs 6, as can be seen from Fig. 1, for example. The support profile rail 2 can, as shown in the illustrated embodiments, have, for example, a U-shaped cross-section when viewed in the direction of the longitudinal axis X. Other cross-sectional shapes are also conceivable, such as a V-shape, a C-shape, an A-shape and the like. The electrical connection element 3 orThe elongated busbar can preferably extend axially longitudinally—here preferably parallel to the longitudinal axis X—along at least one of the side wall legs 6 and / or, if present, along the connecting leg 9, as indicated, for example, in Fig. 1. If the luminaire support rail system 1 comprises a plurality of support profile rails 2, the electrical connection elements 3 of adjacent support profile rails 2 can be electrically and preferably also mechanically connected to one another and, more preferably, extend flush with one another. Alternatively or additionally, it is conceivable for an electrical connection element 3 to also extend over a plurality of adjacent support profile rails 2.

[0063] The luminaire support rail system 1 further comprises a cover element 4, as shown in Figs. 1-10, 12 and 13.

[0064] The cover element 4 can, for example, be a simple cover, such as a panel and / or an aesthetic and / or optical and / or functional cover. Alternatively or additionally, the cover element 4 can also be the electrical or electronic component 40, as shown schematically in Fig. 1 and in Fig. 13. This component 40 can then, for example, be a luminaire, such as a light module, a light bar (cf. Fig. 13), a spotlight, an emergency luminaire and / or a guidance luminaire. The component 40 can also be or comprise, for example, a sensor, a radio module or a loudspeaker and the like.

[0065] The component 40 can preferably have an electrical coupling element 43 for insertion into the connection space A and there for electrical coupling to the electrical connection element 3 and preferably also for mechanical coupling to the support profile rail 2. Such an electrical coupling element 43 is designed, for example, as a so-called rotary toggle, as shown schematically in Fig. 1. The rotary toggle 43 can generally be rotated about a vertical axis H in order to laterally extend electrical contacting elements 44 and, if appropriate, also mechanical coupling elements 45 and thus bring them into operative connection with the electrical connection element 3 for electrical coupling or with the support profile rail 2 for mechanical coupling.

[0066] As can be seen, for example, from Fig. 12, the luminaire support rail system 1 can preferably also have a plurality of cover elements 4, which are then preferably arranged in a row on the end face in the direction of the longitudinal axis X. Different or even identical types of cover elements 4, as described above by way of example, can be combined in any desired manner.

[0067] The cover element 4 is designed such that it can be detachably coupled to the support profile rail 2, so that it spans the insertion opening 20 transversely to the longitudinal axis X, and a section 46 of the cover element 4 coupled in this way projects beyond the insertion opening 20 into the receiving space R. This is shown by way of example in Figs. 1, 2, 5, 8 and 13.

[0068] The luminaire support rail system 1 further comprises an end cap 5, as shown in Figs. 1-10, 12 and 13.

[0069] The end cap 5 is designed in such a way that, in a covering position, it covers the end face of an end opening 21 of the support profile rail 2 which is axial with respect to the longitudinal axis X and is preferably open towards the insertion opening 20, as can be seen in particular from Figs. 1 to 10 and 13.

[0070] The end cap 5 can preferably have a wall section 10 - here, for example, at least partially circumferential with respect to the longitudinal axis X - which extends axially away from the support profile rail 2 in the covering position of the end cap 5, as can be seen from Figs. 1 to 10 and 13.

[0071] The wall section preferably continues the contour of the side wall legs 6 and, if present, preferably also the contour of the connecting leg 9, axially (here preferably parallel to the longitudinal axis X) at least partially, as can be seen, for example, from the views in Figs. 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10 and 13.

[0072] The wall section 10 is preferably designed such that, in the covering position of the end cap 5, it extends axially from the front side opening 21 by at least 5 mm or at least 10 mm or at least 12 mm or at least 15 mm or at least 20 mm from the support profile rail 2.

[0073] The end cap 5 preferably has a front-side cover wall 11 in order to easily cover the front-side opening 21 axially when the end cap 5 is in the covering position, as is particularly evident from Figs. 1, 3, 6, 9, and 13. The cover wall 11 can preferably be provided on the wall section 10 on a side of the wall section 10 facing away from the support profile rail 2, as is particularly evident from Figs. 1 and 13.

[0074] Overall, the end cap 5 can be provided as an integral one-piece component. The end cap 5 can be made of a plastic, for example. Preferably, the

[0075] End cap 5 is manufactured using a plastic injection molding process.

[0076] The end cap 5 has an extension section 8 that delimits an extension space V, which, in the covering position of the end cap 5, only axially continues the receiving space R of the connection space A and is open radially outwards (downwards in the figures), so that when the cover element 4 is coupled to the support profile rail 2, a part of the section 46 of the cover element 4 that projects axially beyond the support profile rail 2 can project radially into the extension space V. This is shown in particular in Figs. 8 to 10 and can be seen in Figs. 1 to 7 and 13. The receiving space R is thus extended into the end cap 5 - there in the form of the extension space V - and thus enables the accommodation of regions of a coupled cover element 4 that project axially beyond the support profile rail 2 in this extension space V as well; comparable to the receiving space R.

[0077] As can be seen in particular from Figs. 1, 2, 5, 8 and 13, preferably a part of the wall section 10 and preferably further a part of the cover wall 11, if present, can form a part of the extension section 8.

[0078] The extension section 8 preferably has a cover section 80, which is designed such that, in the covering position of the end cap 5, it extends axially longitudinally to cover the extension space V toward the longitudinal axis X. This is particularly evident from the sectional views of Figs. 3, 6, and 9, as well as from Figs. 1, 2, 5, 8, and 13. The cover section 80 thus delimits the extension space V upwards here.

[0079] 1, 3, 5, 6, 9 and 13, the cover section 80 can preferably be designed such that, in the covering position of the end cap 5, it extends over the front side opening 21 into the connection space A in order to at least partially cover the receiving space R towards the longitudinal axis X and preferably spanning the two side wall legs 6. The cover section 80 can preferably be designed such that, in the covering position of the end cap 5, it extends axially from the front side opening 21 by at least 5 mm or at least 10 mm or at least 12 mm or at least 15 mm into the connection space A. This is designated in Fig. 3 by way of example with the length Li.

[0080] The extension section 8 or, if present, its cover section 80 is preferably designed such that, in the covering position of the end cap 5, it extends axially from the end opening 21 by at least 5 mm, or at least 10 mm, or at least 12 mm, or at least 15 mm from the support profile rail 2. This is also indicated, by way of example, in Fig. 3 with the length L2.

[0081] The lengths Li, L2 can be used to achieve a defined length tolerance compensation as required.

[0082] The longitudinal edge sections 7, viewed in the direction of the longitudinal axis X, each have a coupling profile 70 that laterally delimits the insertion opening 20. The cover element 4 and / or the end cap 5 can preferably be detachably coupled to the support profile rail 2 via the coupling profiles 70. For this purpose, the cover element 4, for example, can have corresponding coupling sections 47, as shown by way of example in Figs. 1 and 13. The end cap 5 can, for example, have plug-in projections (not shown in detail here), which can, for example, be inserted axially into the coupling profiles 70.

[0083] The coupling profiles 70 can, as can be seen, for example, from Figs. 1 and 13, each protrude toward the connection space A, preferably toward one another. The coupling profiles 70 can preferably delimit the receiving space R at least partially laterally or between them, as can be derived, for example, from Fig. 13. Furthermore, the coupling profiles 70 can, as can be seen, for example, from Figs. 1, 3, 6, and 9, each extend axially longitudinally (here preferably parallel to the longitudinal axis X) continuously; preferably over the entire length of the support profile rail 2. Alternatively, it is also conceivable for the coupling profiles 70 to each extend axially longitudinally (here preferably parallel to the longitudinal axis X) intermittently; preferably over the entire length of the support profile rail 2.

[0084] The end cap 5 can preferably have profile contours 50 which, in the covering position, continue the respective coupling profiles 70 axially (here preferably parallel to the longitudinal axis X) at least partially or in sections or even continuously, as shown by way of example in Fig. 13. Thus, when the cover element 4 is coupled to the support profile rail 2, a part of the cover element 4 projecting axially (and therefore longitudinally) beyond the support profile rail 2 can utilize the profile contours 50 in the same way as the coupling structures 70.

[0085] As can also be seen from Fig. 13, the profile contours 50 can at least partially delimit the expansion space V and are thus effectively available for a region of a cover element 4 that projects axially from the support profile rail.

[0086] The longitudinal edge sections 7, preferably the coupling profiles 70 or, as shown in Fig. 11, a part of the respective coupling profiles 70, can / may preferably each have an interruption 71 at regular intervals along the longitudinal axis X. These interruptions 71 can then serve, for example, as visual markers for defined mounting positions. The interruptions 71 can be provided, for example, every 250 mm along the longitudinal axis X. If the respective coupling profile 70 has the corresponding interruptions 71, the previously described intermittent extension of the coupling profile 70 results.

[0087] Terminal compartment A is preferably sealed to the outside according to a defined degree of protection. For example, a degree of protection according to IP54 or higher is conceivable.

[0088] In an axial joint area S between the end cap 5 in the covering position and the support profile rail 2, a seal (not shown) can preferably be provided for sealing the connection space A. Thus, a defined sealing function can be provided in the area of the end cap 5.

[0089] The cover element 4 can preferably have a cover cap 42 on at least one or both end faces 41 opposite one another with respect to the longitudinal axis X, as shown by way of example in Figs. 1 to 10 and 13. The cover cap 42 can preferably be provided such that, when the cover element 4 is coupled to the support profile rail 2, it bears radially with respect to the longitudinal axis X against the extension section 8 or, if present, its cover section 80; this preferably in a sealing relationship with the connection space A.

[0090] In principle, it is conceivable for a seal to be provided in an area between the cover element 4 on the one hand and the end cap 5 (for example, its extension section 8 or cover section 80) on the other hand. It is also conceivable for a seal to be provided in an area between the cover element 4 on the one hand and the support profile rail 2 (for example, the longitudinal edge sections 7 or the coupling profiles 70) on the other hand. The aforementioned seals can each be, for example, separate sealing elements or sealing elements provided integrally with one or both or more of the components to be sealed.

[0091] The invention is not limited to the embodiments described above, as long as it is covered by the subject matter of the following claims.
