[0001] A roof skylight is disclosed comprising a transparent roof dome and one or more transparent plane sheets beneath the roof dome, wherein the end surface of the plane sheet or sheets are enclosed by a skirt as a weather shield for the end surfaces.Background

[0002] Roof skylights are known in the art comprising one or more transparent roof domes and one or more transparent plane sheets beneath the roof dome, wherein the end surface of the plane sheet or sheets are enclosed by an arrangement, such as a profile covering all end surfaces of roof domes and plane sheets in the roof skylight.

[0004] The end surface of the plane sheet or sheets may be covered by a skirt of the roof dome extending towards the roof surface. However, the extend of the skirt should be manufactured adjusted for the specific variant of roof skylight, e.g. the height of the one or more plane sheets and / or the number of roof domes. In order to standardize the production of roof domes with a skirt, an auxiliary skirt clamped to the panel comprising the roof dome and the plane sheet(s) is suggested, where the auxiliary skirt encloses the end surface of plane sheets not enclosed by the roof dome skirt. Claims

1. A roof skylight (1) having a rectangular curb (7) extending upwards from a roof surface and enclosing an upward opening of the skylight (1), curb (7) supporting a panel (2), wherein the panel (2) comprises at least one roof dome (3) and one or more transparent plane sheets (5, 6) placed below the roof dome (3), the panel (2) being fixed to the curb (7) by means of a plurality of fasteners (11) extending through the panel (2), wherein at least one of the roof domes (3) comprises a dome skirt (4) integrated with the roof dome (3), the dome skirt (4) enclosing an outer, upper edge (20) of at least one of the transparent plane sheets (5, 6) and extends towards the roof surface, and wherein the roof skylight (1) further comprises an auxiliary skirt (22, 122, 222) clamped to the panel (2) by means of the plurality of fasteners (11), the auxiliary skirt (22, 122, 222) extending towards the roof surface from between the dome skirt (4) and an end surface of one of the domes (3) or of one of the transparent plane sheets (5, 6), the auxiliary skirt (22, 122, 222) enclosing at an end surface (21, 23) of one of the transparent plane sheets (5, 6).

2. The roof skylight (1) according to claim 1, wherein the auxiliary skirt (22, 122, 222) extends towards the roof surface beyond an outer, lower edge (28) of the transparent plane sheet (6) closest to the roof surface, such as by at least 8 mm.

3. The roof skylight (1) according to claim 1 or 2, wherein an outer, lower edge (28) of one or more of the transparent plane sheets (5, 6) is closer to the roof surface than a lowermost edge (29) of the dome skirt (4).

4. The roof skylight (1) according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the auxiliary skirt (22, 122, 222) is a separate part from the roof dome(s) (3) and the transparent plane sheet(s) (5, 6).

5. The roof skylight (1) according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the minimal distance between the curb (7) or a glazing frame on the curb (7), and the auxiliary skirt (22, 122, 222) is less than 12 mm, such as less than 10 mm.

The roof skylight (1) according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the fasteners (11) comprise a hollow binding screw (12) through which the fastener screws (13) can extend, the hollow binding screws (12) comprising upper (14) and lower (15) bearing surfaces for abutting an upper outer surface (16) and lower outer surface (17) of the panel (2), respectively.

7. The roof skylight (1) according to claim 6, wherein the hollow binding screw (12) comprises a female, internally threaded barrel and a male, externally threaded screw, and wherein each of the barrel and the screw have heads providing the upper (14) and lower (15) bearing surfaces.

8. The roof skylight (1) according to any of the preceding claims, wherein one or more of the roof domes (3) are made from polycarbonate.

9. The roof skylight (1) according to any of the preceding claims, wherein one or more of the roof domes (3) are made from Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA).

10. The roof skylight (1) according to any of the preceding claims, wherein one or more of the transparent plane sheets (5, 6) are made from polycarbonate.

11. The roof skylight (1) according to any of the preceding claims, wherein one or more of the transparent plane sheets (5, 6) are made from Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA).

12. The roof skylight (1) according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the panel (2) is hinged to the curb (7).
