Abstract

The invention relates to a triboelectric reactor device with microplasma discharge for the production of hydrogen from an aqueous electrolyte. The device comprises a translucent outer body and a dielectric inner body that define an intermediate cavity containing the electrolyte and an internal cavity. A triboelectric strip arranged on the outer surface of the inner body, with alternating zones of electronegative material and exposed substrate, generates electrical charge through solid-liquid interaction. This charge, optionally enhanced by a pyroelectric element subjected to thermal variations, accumulates in a multilayer capacitive architecture. Upon exceeding a threshold, a dielectric barrier microplasma discharge is generated between an emitting electrode tip and the inner body, producing reactive species and ultraviolet radiation that promote the dissociation of water into hydrogen. The system can operate autonomously without an external power source and can simultaneously generate plasma-activated water as a byproduct.
