Optimizing utilization of food items

Abstract

Disclosed is a computer-implemented method which, when executed using hardware and software resources of a computing system comprising one or more computing devices, causes the computing system to perform operations comprising: obtaining image data regarding food items, identifying the food items and determine for each identified food item its respective time span, performing a matching process in which the identified food items are matched to their respective meal option, and select a plurality of meal options, listing the plurality of meal options based on the shortest time span of a food item comprised in each meal option, the meal option comprising food item with the shortest time spans having the highest priority, and the list being arranged from the meal option comprising the shortest time span to the meal option comprising the longest time span.
