Abstract

The invention relates to a computerized method for assessing a user's visual acuity. The method comprises, in real time and automatically, the acquisition (S10) by a sensor of user-related data, the determination (S20) by a processor coupled to the sensor and a display device of a value relative to a distance between the user and the display device based on the user-related data, and the display (S40) of a visual test on the display device. The display is adaptive and a function of the value relative to the distance. The method further comprises providing (S7) a response to the visual test, by the user and with an input device (36) coupled to the processor. This constitutes an improved solution for assessing visual acuity.

Claims

DEMANDS 1. A computerized method for assessing a user's visual acuity (30), the method comprising: - in real time and automatically: • an acquisition (S10) of user-related data, by a sensor (34); • a determination (S20) of a value relative to a distance of the user from a display device (36) as a function of the data relating to the user, by a processor coupled to the sensor and the display device; • an estimate (S30) of a correspondence between the value relative to the distance and a predetermined reference value; • a display (S40) of a visual test (40) on the display device (36), the display being adaptive and a function of the value relative to the distance, the display (S40) of the visual test (40) being conditional on a positive result of the estimation; and - a supply (S7) of a response to the visual test (40), by the user and with an input device (36) coupled to the processor.

2. A method according to claim 1, wherein the visual test (40) is a near visual acuity test.

3. A method according to any one of claims 1 to 2, wherein the method is carried out by means of a computer device comprising the input device (36), the display device (36) and the sensor (34), the computer device being optionally mobile, for example a tablet (32).

4. A method according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein the display (S40) and the supply (S7) are iterated (S8) over a plurality of visual tests.

5. A method according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the sensor (34) is a camera.

6. A method according to claim 5, wherein the user data includes one or more images of the user's face.

7. A method according to claim 6, wherein the determination (S20) comprises: - a calculation of one or more characteristic measurements of the user's face based on one or more images; and - a calculation of the value relative to the distance as a function of one or more characteristic measurements; one or more characteristic measurements optionally including a position of at least two characteristic portions of the user's face, for example the eyes and / or the user's mouth, and / or at least a distance between a pair of characteristic portions of the user's face, for example a distance between the pair formed by the two eyes and / or a distance between the pair formed by the two eyes on one side and the mouth on the other side.

9. Method according to claim 7, the method further comprising a supply of the user's size, the calculation of the value relating to the distance being further a function of the user's size.

9. Method according to claim 8, wherein the calculation of the value relative to the distance is based on a predetermined relationship between the user's size and one or more characteristic measurements.

10. Computer program comprising program code instructions for executing the steps of the process according to any one of claims 1 to 9 when the program is executed on a computer.

11. Data storage medium on which a computer program according to claim 10 is recorded.

12. System comprising a processor coupled to a memory on which a computer program according to claim 10 is stored, the system further comprising, for example, the sensor, the display device and the input device, the system being, for example, a mobile computing device, for example a tablet.
