Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Display method for a head-up display device of a vehicle Technical field
[0001] The invention relates to vehicle displays and, more particularly, to head-up display devices. Technological background
[0002] Document FR3089644 discloses a head-up display device for a vehicle comprising control means, configured to control information to be displayed.
[0003] This device is customizable but this customization requires the use of control means, which is impractical when driving the vehicle so that certain information remains displayed even though it is of little use to the driver. Summary of the invention
[0004] An object of the present invention is to provide a solution for improving the relevance and usefulness of displays presented to the driver via a head-up display device.
[0005] To this end, the invention relates to a method of displaying on a head-up display device of a vehicle, said device comprising a first customizable display zone and a second display zone dedicated to operational information linked to the operation of the vehicle, characterized in that it comprises steps of: - display, in the first zone, of a graphic object representing the operation of a driving assistance function, - receiving information to pause said driving assistance function, - suspension of the display of the graphic object in the first zone, - display, in the second zone, of a thumbnail indicating that the driving assistance function is paused.
[0006] By suspending the display of the graphic object, space is freed up in the display area, which increases the driver's field of vision to the outside. The display makes it possible to indicate that the driving assistance function is paused.
[0007] Advantageously, the display method according to the invention further comprises steps of:
[0008] - receiving information to restart said assistance function conduct,
[0009] - resumption of display, in the first zone, of the graphic object,
[0010] - suspension of the display, in the second zone, of the miniature.
[0011] Advantageously, the assistance function is chosen from an adaptive cruise control and / or a lane keeping function.
[0012] Advantageously, the size of the first zone is greater than the size of the second zone.
[0013] The invention also relates to a display device comprising a processor and a memory, characterized in that the processor is arranged to implement the method according to the invention.
[0014] The invention also relates to a vehicle comprising a display device according to the preceding claim. Brief description of the figures
[0015] Other characteristics and advantages of the invention will emerge from the description of the non-limiting embodiments of the invention below, with reference to the appended figures, in which:
[0016] [Fig-1] schematically illustrates a display method, according to an example of realization particular use of the present invention;
[0017] [Fig.2] schematically illustrates a display, according to an exemplary embodiment particular of the present invention;
[0018] [Fig.3] schematically illustrates another display, according to an example of realization particular use of the present invention.
[0019] The invention relates to a display method on a head-up display device of a vehicle, the steps of which are shown schematically in [Fig. 1]. With reference to [Fig. 2], the head-up display device comprises a first customizable display zone Z1 and a second display zone Z2 dedicated to operational information related to the operation of the vehicle.
[0020] These two display zones are, according to one embodiment, arranged on the windshield of the vehicle. But this is not obligatory, the two zones Z1, Z2 can also be displayed on a semi-transparent blade of the head-up display device.
[0021] With reference to [Fig.l], the display method comprises a step 101 of displaying, in the first zone Zl, a graphic object O representative of the operation of a driving assistance function. The first zone Zl can display graphic objects, called widgets, associated with a function, for example a driving assistance function, a music player or a vehicle air conditioning adjustment panel.
[0022] The method also comprises a step 102 of receiving information about pausing said driving assistance function. This information reaches the device head-up display via a vehicle data network (e.g. CAN or Ethernet type network).
[0023] This information corresponds to a pause by the driver of the driving assistance function with which the graphic object O is associated or to an automatic pause following a change in the driving context resulting in unavailability of the driving assistance function.
[0024] The method then comprises a step 103 of suspending the display of the graphic object O in the first zone Z1. By suspending the display of the graphic object O, space is freed up in the display zone, which makes it possible to increase the driver's field of vision towards the outside.
[0025] The method also comprises a step 104 of displaying, in the second zone Z2, a miniature M indicating that the driving assistance function is paused. This display makes it possible to indicate that the driving assistance function is paused.
[0026] According to a characteristic of the invention, the size of the second zone Z2 is smaller than the size of the first zone ZL. The second Z2 thus occupies a smaller space and makes it possible to display information which will distract the driver less than that displayed in the first zone ZL.
[0027] According to a characteristic of the invention, the miniature M has a size smaller than the graphic object O. The size of the miniature M does not allow the detail of the operation of the driving assistance function to be rendered as finely. However, this size is sufficient to indicate that the driving assistance function is paused.
[0028] Advantageously, the method also comprises the reception 105 of information for restarting said driving assistance function. In response to this reception 105, the method also comprises the resumption of the display 106, in the first zone Z1, of the graphic object O and the suspension of the display 107, in the second zone Z2, of the miniature M.
[0029] When the driving assistance function is no longer paused, a more detailed display (object O) is preferred.
[0030] Figures 2 and 3 each show an exemplary embodiment of the invention. The device according to the invention comprises a first Z1 and a second Z2 display zone. The first zone Z1 is a customizable zone in which the driver can display a graphic object, commonly called a widget, chosen from a library of predefined widgets. These widgets can represent different functional areas available in the vehicle (Navigation, driving assistance, Driving, Media, Etc.).
[0031] The second zone Z2, called the operational zone, is used to display information useful for driving (for example the current speed and / or the current speed limit) without obstructing the driver's field of vision. The size of the second zone Z2 is lower than that of the first zone ZI and preferably the second is located below the first zone Zl.
[0032] [Fig.2] shows an example in which a graphic object O represents a driving assistance function. The driving assistance function is, for example, an adaptive cruise control. The dark horizontal lines represent units of distance separating the vehicle from the vehicle in front of it. The graphic object O makes it possible, for example, to indicate whether the vehicle has correctly detected the vehicle in front of it or what the interdistance is set to maintain a distance between the two vehicles. This display is superimposed on the driver's visual scene on the windshield, for example, superimposed on the road (not shown). This allows the driver to follow the behavior of the driving assistance without looking away from the road and without having to accommodate his vision (as he would do if he had to look at a digital screen).
[0033] [Fig. 3] shows an example in which the graphic object is no longer displayed. The first zone Z1 is left free. In other words, the driver's field of vision is freed from the information related to the paused driving assistance function. In the second zone Z2, the miniature M signals to the driver that the driving assistance function is paused.
