Description

Title of the invention: Motor vehicle tailgate with simplified mounting equipment support plate

[0001] The invention relates to the field of motor vehicle body parts, more specifically openings, such as tailgates or side doors, and in particular the integration of equipment installed therein.

[0002] For example, a motor vehicle tailgate generally comprises an outer panel (also called an outer skin) attached to an inner panel (also called a lining).

[0003] The inner panel is provided with a first opening in the upper part of the tailgate intended to accommodate a window. In the lower part of the tailgate, this inner panel is generally provided with small recesses allowing a local passage for the fixing of components.

[0004] On most vehicles, motor vehicle tailgates incorporate, in the lower part of the tailgate, side rear signaling lights, such as brake lights, generally a left light and a right light located symmetrically on either side of the tailgate. Preferably, these two lights are located along and as close as possible to the lateral edges of the tailgate in order to face, in the closed position of the tailgate, the rear light complement located on the body of the vehicle. Such lights are currently manufactured by suppliers in the form of lighting units or optical units. Such optical units comprise a rear part, or housing, in which the lighting device is arranged, as well as a window, also called a glass pane, allowing light to pass through when the light is in operation. These two side lights are attached and mounted on the tailgate, on and by its outer face, which has many disadvantages.

[0005] Firstly, it is necessary to provide a sealed glass relative to the optical housing in order to protect the lighting device. In addition, it is necessary for an operator to mount the two side lights at two separate locations on the tailgate, to connect electrical harnesses thereto, and to make the mounting waterproof to prevent runoff water from penetrating into the volume delimited by the inner panel and the outer skin of the tailgate, passing between the light and the outer skin, which presents practical difficulties.

[0006] Another disadvantage is that the side lights thus added appear as additions and do not have any apparent continuity with the rest of the tailgate, which detracts from its aesthetics. Indeed, a trend among car manufacturers is to ensure that the various exterior surfaces of the vehicle are flush with each other and appear without discontinuities ("seamless" in Anglo-Saxon terminology). In certain configurations, luminous elements can even remain partially or totally invisible from the outside, for example when they are not activated ("hidden until lit" in Anglo-Saxon terminology). This can also be the case for a radar located behind an opaque wall.

[0007] Furthermore, in addition to the issue of side lights, another trend among car manufacturers is to integrate a light signature at the rear of vehicles, such as continuous lighting between the side parts of the tailgate. In general, such a light device is also attached from the outside of the tailgate and may cause sealing problems or not be flush with the rest of the tailgate.

[0008] Finally, the tailgates can integrate components that assist driving (such as radars, lidars, or cameras) or that enable communication (such as antennas or screens). All of these components should be integrated into the tailgate in a way that is, again, watertight and flush (by means of a radome for example) with the rest of the tailgate.

[0009] It is therefore desirable to be able to have such equipment as close as possible to the outer skin, preferably between the inner panel and the outer skin.

[0010] Currently, document FR 3010351 discloses a motor vehicle tailgate comprising a technical panel (carrying a set of technical elements) attached to the lower part of the inner panel, the inner panel and the technical panel being covered with an outer tailgate skin, assembled thereto by gluing.

[0011] Such a solution is however not satisfactory because it implies that the inner panel and the outer skin are only glued to each other after the fixing of the technical panel, which considerably complicates the assembly of the opening. It is therefore necessary to imagine a technical solution in which such a support panel can be assembled within the space delimited by the inner panel and the outer skin, after these have been glued to each other.

[0012] One solution considered was to first assemble the inner panel and the outer skin, then to integrate the support element and its equipment from the rear, i.e. on the passenger compartment side (side opposite the outer skin), through a mounting opening located in the lower part of the inner panel.

[0013] An additional disadvantage is that the equipment described above, which is to be positioned as close as possible to the outer skin, along the entire length of the opening and up to the two lateral ends of the latter, requires the presence of a large support element. Therefore, it is very It is difficult to mount such a support element in the exact position via the mounting opening. This greatly complicates the assembly step of the support element and the correct positioning of the equipment it carries.

[0014] The invention aims in particular to remedy this drawback by providing a motor vehicle opening architecture allowing an equipment support plate to be easily mounted between a lower part of the interior panel and the exterior skin of the opening, from the passenger compartment of the vehicle.

[0015] To this end, the invention relates to a motor vehicle opening comprising: - an interior panel, preferably made of plastic material, provided with an upper part in which a first opening is made intended to accommodate a window and a lower part in which a second opening is made, and

[0016] - an outer skin, at least partially made of plastic material, attached to the interior panel, comprising an inner surface located opposite an outer surface of the interior panel.

[0017] The opening according to the invention further comprises:

[0018] - an equipment support plate assembled on the interior panel and re covered by the outer skin, the support plate being accessible through the second opening, and

[0019] - guiding means capable of allowing blind assembly, through the second opening, of the support plate between the external surface of the inner panel and the internal surface of the outer skin.

[0020] Thanks to the fact that the inner panel is provided with guide means allowing blind assembly, that is to say assembly in an area not accessible to the operator, through the opening of the support plate, it is not necessary for him to have particular experience or dexterity to insert the support plate between the outer skin and the inner panel. Such a solution also reduces the risks of assembly errors. In addition, this solution allows assembly of the plate on the removable inner panel, which offers the possibility of disassembling the support plate, without disassembling the inner panel and the outer skin. This greatly facilitates maintenance operations on the support plate and the equipment it carries.

[0021] Advantageously, the guide means allow the assembly of the support plate between the external surface of the interior panel and the internal surface of the exterior skin so that a lateral end of the plate is adjacent to a side wall of the opening.

[0022] It is thus possible to ensure that certain equipment carried by the support plate, such as lighting devices (lights), can reach the lateral edges of the opening, in particular to limit as much as possible the light discontinuity between the part of a taillight carried by a tailgate and the part of the taillight carried by the vehicle body.

[0023] Preferably, the guide means are configured so that the support plate is guided between, on the one hand, an initial insertion position of the support plate in which the support plate extends in a non-parallel direction, preferably substantially perpendicular, to the general plane materialized by the second opening and, on the other hand, a final assembled position of the support plate in which the support plate extends in a direction substantially parallel to the general plane materialized by the second opening.

[0024] Advantageously, at least part of the guide means is integral with the inner panel, for example molded, and is configured to receive a mounting arm of the support plate.

[0025] In order to simplify the manufacture of the opening, the guide means comprise at least two ribs each forming a guide groove, the guide means further comprising at least two lugs, preferably connected to each other by a cylindrical rod, integral with the mounting arm of the support plate, for example molded, and forming a pivot member having an axis of rotation around which the mounting arm of the support plate can pivot until the support plate reaches the assembled position.

[0026] This configuration is particularly suitable for the case where it is necessary to insert a lateral end of the support plate in an area that is difficult to access, for example at the lateral edge of the tailgate, which it greatly facilitates. Indeed, it is sufficient for an operator to insert the support plate through the second opening, so that the mounting arm of the plate is inserted into the guide grooves formed by the ribs, and to pivot the support plate around the axis of rotation of the pivot member formed by the lugs to move the plate into the desired assembled position, such as a position in which lighting equipment carried by the lateral end of the support plate is located at the lateral edge of the interior panel and the side wall of the vehicle, as close as possible to the outer skin.In order to facilitate the insertion and guiding of the mounting arm of the plate within the guide grooves, the latter may have a flared “U” shape which initially facilitates the entry of the lugs, then guides them in a second stage within their narrowing section, to the end of the guide grooves where the mounting arm reaches the desired position to pivot the support plate.

[0027] According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the support plate comprises a main body from which the mounting arm projects, with which the lugs are integrally formed, said lugs being configured to fit into the grooves of guide and to pivot around the axis of rotation when the mounting arm reaches the end of its travel within the guide grooves.

[0028] The fact that the mounting arm projects from the main body of the support plate makes it possible to create an offset thanks to an offset rotation axis which makes the assembly more reliable because the main body of the plate includes electronic equipment and / or fragile luminous surfaces. Thus, during the initial insertion and then during the pivoting around the rotation axis, the more fragile parts of the plate are brought into position while remaining at a distance from the other parts of the opening until reaching the assembled position.

[0029] Preferably, in order to further facilitate its assembly, the support plate is made of several parts assembled together.

[0030] In order to conceal the support plate from the passenger compartment of the vehicle, the opening further comprises a trim fixed on an internal surface of the interior panel and covering the second opening.

[0031] In order to be able to access, in particular for maintenance operations, the support plate and the equipment located there as well as their connections, the trim is for example fixed to the lower part of the interior box in a removable manner, for example by riveting, screwing or snap-fastening.

[0032] Advantageously, the support plate comprises a device for emitting and / or receiving electromagnetic radiation and the outer skin comprises, opposite the device for emitting and / or receiving electromagnetic radiation, at least one transmission zone, made of plastic material, which is at least partially transparent to said electromagnetic radiation.

[0033] Thanks to the fact that the support plate, which can support other equipment, carries the device for emitting and / or receiving electromagnetic radiation, it is possible to share the connections of said device and these other pieces of equipment. In addition, the integration of the device for emitting and / or receiving electromagnetic radiation is greatly simplified, and the aesthetics of the vehicle is also improved because the device is no longer attached from the outside to the opening. It is also not necessary to provide for sealing (for example around the lighting units of a lighting device), since the device can be placed directly in the dry zone of the opening delimited between the external surface of the interior panel and the internal surface of the exterior skin.Furthermore, such a solution eliminates the need to provide a specific glass that takes into account the shape of the device, since the transmission zone plays this role. It is also possible to ensure that the device (or part of it) is concealed, for example by the partial opacity of the outer skin. In the case of a lighting device, it can therefore be made invisible to an observer. outside the vehicle, when it is not switched on.

[0034] Alternatively and to simplify the manufacture of the outer skin, the transmission zone corresponds to the entire external surface of the outer skin. In addition to the fact that this simplifies the manufacture of the outer skin, a uniform rendering is thus obtained, which can be considered more aesthetic, and other elements can also be placed behind the outer skin so as to make them visible, such as for example a logo, which does not have to be added as an extra thickness on the outer skin.

[0035] Advantageously, the opening constitutes a tailgate or a side door. Brief description of the figures

[0036] The invention will be better understood on reading the following description, in which the opening of the invention has been described in the form of a tailgate, a description given solely by way of example and made with reference to the appended drawings in which:

[0045] Figures 1 to 8 show a tailgate 1 of a motor vehicle and its various constituent elements according to one embodiment of the invention.

[0046] Reference is now made to all of the figures, which each illustrate or in combination illustrate an embodiment of a tailgate 1 of a motor vehicle according to the invention. The tailgate 1 comprises:

[0047] - an interior panel 2, preferably made of plastic, provided with a part su upper part 2A in which a first opening 21 is made intended to accommodate a bezel and a lower part 2B in which a second opening 22 is made, and - an outer skin 3, at least partially made of plastic material, attached to the inner panel 2, comprising an inner surface located opposite an outer surface of the inner panel 2. The tailgate 1 further includes:

[0048] - a support plate 4 of equipment 6 assembled on the interior panel 2 and re covered by the outer skin 3, the support plate 4 being accessible through the second opening 22, and - guide means (8, 9, 43a) capable of allowing blind assembly, through the second opening 22, of the support plate 4 between the external surface of the interior panel 2 and the internal surface of the exterior skin 3.

[0049] Thus, when the support plate 4 is in its final assembled position (visible in figures 1 and 8) within the dry zone 5 of the tailgate, the equipment that it carries is protected from the external environment, in particular thanks to the sealed assembly (generally achieved by gluing) between the interior panel 2 and the exterior skin 3.

[0050] The area of the outer skin 3 located opposite the equipment carried by the support plate 4 is a transmission area 32 made of plastic material at least partially transparent to the electromagnetic radiation of the equipment. By “at least transparent to electromagnetic radiation”, it is meant that this transmission area 32 allows the passage of a sufficient quantity of electromagnetic waves so that the equipment can perform the function dedicated to it correctly and continuously. In the case of a light device, for example, this means that the transmission area 32 allows the passage of the light rays emitted by the device so that they can be seen by an observer outside the vehicle.

[0051] The equipment support plate 4 is a housing forming a hollow receptacle and whose two lateral ends 42 are intended to be housed in two housings 25 of corresponding shape, located on the periphery of the interior panel 2, when the support plate 4 is in its assembled position. This makes it possible, when lighting devices (for example rear lights) are mounted on the lateral ends of the support plate 4, to limit the effect of light discontinuity between two adjacent parts of a rear light carried by the plate 4 and a rear light carried by the body of the vehicle on which the tailgate 1 is mounted. The plate 4 comprises a fixing interface whose elements 51a to 51e (referenced in FIGS. 2A and 2B) allow fixing to the other parts of the tailgate, such as the interior panel 2, the outer skin 3 or even the technical panel when this element is present at the within the tailgate. The support plate 4 is removably attached to the interior panel 2, via the attachment interface and more precisely via its elements 51b, 51c and 51e, located in the upper part of the plate 4, so that it can be removed in the event of a maintenance operation on the plate 4 and / or the equipment it carries. The elements 51a and 51d allow for removable attachment to the lower part of the support plate 4 (attachments not visible in the figures). For example, the elements 51a and 51d can receive elements of corresponding shapes coming from the internal surface of the outer skin 3, from the external surface of the interior panel 2 or from the technical panel 15.The removable fasteners made in the lower part of the support plate help to stabilize the plate within the tailgate and thus prevent play or inaccuracies in assembly which could cause equipment malfunctions or noise pollution while the vehicle is moving or when the tailgate is opened / closed 1.

[0052] The support plate 4 is made up of three parts, a central part 41a, and two lateral parts 41b and 41c which together form the main body of the support plate 4. It carries several pieces of equipment 61, 62, 63. Obviously, the plate 4 can comprise a single piece of equipment or several pieces of equipment, and these can be different from each other (as is the case in the embodiment shown). It can be, for example, one or more light devices which emit electromagnetic radiation in the visible spectrum. These light devices can be distributed over all or part of the width of the plate 4 in order to establish the desired light signature. Thus, it is possible to obtain a light signature of continuous appearance over the entire width of the tailgate if this is desired. These devices can also be driving assistance devices, such as radars (which generally emit electromagnetic radiation between 20 and 80 GHz), lidars (which generally emit electromagnetic radiation belonging to the infrared spectrum) or reversing cameras. Finally, they can also be communication equipment, such as screens or antennas. Generally speaking, these devices can be any device requiring transparency to waves.

[0053] In the mode described with reference to the figures, the central part 4a comprises an element forming an illuminated logo 61 and the lower zone of the lateral parts 41b and 41c forms right and left signaling lights 62. The upper zone of the three parts 41a, 41b and 41c taken together, forms a continuous lighting line 63 transverse to the tailgate 1, thus producing a light signature. This upper part can also accommodate a large antenna.

[0054] In the assembled position, the lateral end 42 of the support plate 4 is located in an area where it is adjacent to a side wall of the tailgate 1 (as is visible in [Fig.l], 7 and 8), which makes it possible to extend the light signature of the lighting line 63 and / or the lighting of the signaling lights 62 with corresponding equipment carried by the side walls of the vehicle. Thus it is possible to reduce the effect of light discontinuity between the lighting devices of the tailgate 1 and those of the side walls of the vehicle. The area in which the lateral end 42 is located is not accessible to the operator who is mounting the plate on the tailgate. The operator therefore performs a blind assembly of the support plate 4. In the case where the support plate 4 extends over almost the entire width of the tailgate 1, its two lateral ends 42 are each in an area where they are adjacent to a side wall of the tailgate 1. Consequently, the operator must in this case perform two blind assemblies through the second opening 22.In other words, the operator assembles on the tailgate 1 a first portion of the plate 4 (as illustrated in figures 4 to 6B) consisting of the parts 41a and 41c having already been pre-assembled together outside the tailgate 1, then he assembles on the tailgate 1 a second portion (part 41b) of the support plate 4. Obviously, the parts 41a and 41c can be mounted independently of each other on the tailgate, then be linked to each other. The operator then connects the parts 41a and 41b to form the support plate 4. Finally, each of the side parts 41b and 41c is provided with a mounting arm 43 extending projecting from the main body of the support plate 4. This mounting arm 43 comprises a pivot member 43a having an axis of rotation located at the end of the mounting arm 43.The pivot member 43a, formed by lugs 9 connected to each other by a cylindrical rod and molded with the mounting arm 43, allows assembly with insertion into the guide grooves of the guide means, then pivoting of the support plate 4 around the axis of rotation of the pivot member 43a when the mounting arm 43 reaches the end of its travel within the guide grooves.

[0055] In order to allow such blind assemblies of the support plate 4, in a simple and repeated manner, the tailgate 1 according to the invention is therefore provided with guide means (8, 9, 43a) configured to guide the support plate 4 (or the portion considered of the support plate 4) between an insertion position I and the assembled position III. A part of these guide means 8 is, in the embodiment shown, integral with the external surface of the interior panel 2. Of course, these guide means (or only a part of these guide means) could be attached to the external surface of the interior panel 2.These guide means (particularly visible in figures 6A and 6B) comprise two ribs 8 (only one of which is visible) and delimiting two guide grooves (only the lower guide groove of which is visible in the figures) within which the pivot member 43a of the mounting arm 43 can be introduced and guided in translation. The member of . pivots 43a comprising the two lugs 9 connected to each other by a cylindrical rod, has an axis of rotation around which the mounting arm 43 of the support plate 4 can pivot, when it reaches the end of travel of the guide grooves, until the support plate 4 reaches the assembled position III. In a variant of the invention not shown, the pivot member is not necessary located at the end of the mounting arm. In such a case, the shape of the guide grooves is adapted accordingly to allow the pivoting of the support plate around the axis of rotation of the pivot member.

[0056] In order to facilitate the insertion of the lugs 9 and the guiding of the mounting arm 43 within the guide grooves, the latter have a flared “U” shape which facilitates, in a first step, the entry of the lugs 9, then guides them, in a second step, within their section which narrows to the bottom of the guide grooves where the mounting arm 43 reaches the desired position to pivot the support plate 4.

[0057] According to a variant of the invention not shown, the tailgate comprises a trim intended to cover the second opening so that it is not visible from the passenger compartment of the vehicle. Such a trim can be fixed, in a removably manner, on the internal surface of the interior panel, so that it can be disassembled if a maintenance operation of the support plate or one of the equipment it carries is required.

[0058] The mounting of the support plate 4 within the dry zone 5 of the tailgate 1, delimited between the external surface of the interior panel 2 and the internal surface of the exterior skin 3, is carried out as follows and is described with reference to FIGS. 4 to 8.

[0059] The operator presents the first portion (41a, 41c) of the support plate 4 to be assembled in front of the second opening 22 of the interior panel 2 ([Fig.4]).

[0060] Said portion (41a, 41c) of the support plate 4 is introduced into the second opening 22 in order to be positioned in an insertion position of the support plate 4 in which the support plate 4 extends in a direction substantially perpendicular to the general plane (not shown) materialized by the second opening 22 ([Fig. 5] and [Fig. 7]). When the support plate 4 is in this insertion position I, the lugs 9 of the pivot member 43a of the mounting arm 43 can be easily introduced into the guide grooves formed by the ribs 8.

[0061] The end of the guide arm 43 is then guided within the guide grooves, until it reaches the end of its travel. The assembly plate is therefore successively in an intermediate pivoting start position 11a in which it begins its rotation around the axis of rotation of the pivot member 43a, then in a pivoting position 11b where the lateral end 42 engages in the housing 25.

[0062] Then the support plate is brought into its final assembled position III, position in which the lateral end 42 of the portion (41a, 41c) of the support plate 4 is housed within a housing 25 of corresponding shape defined in the interior panel 2. Such a housing makes it possible to secure the position of the support plate 4 and to prevent the support plate 4 from moving during movements of the vehicle.

[0063] The same assembly process is carried out for the second portion 41b of the support plate 4, on the opposite side of the tailgate 1.

[0064] Finally, the parts 41a and 41b of the two portions of the support plate 4 are connected to each other in order to form the support plate 4.
