Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Adapter for a wiping system.
[0001] The field of the present invention is that of wiping systems intended for motor vehicles. More particularly, the field of the present invention is that of the connection means implemented between a windscreen wiper arm and a wiper blade of such a wiping system.
[0002] Motor vehicles are commonly equipped with wiping systems intended to clean their glass surfaces, and in particular their windshields. Such wiping systems comprise at least one wiper arm and a wiper blade driven by the wiper arm. The wiper arm is connected to an electric motor of the vehicle and the wiper blade comprises at least one wiper blade adapted to come into contact with the glass surface to be wiped. In order to be able to drive the wiper blade, an adapter is arranged between this wiper blade and the wiper arm. More particularly, the adapter is arranged between the wiper arm and a connector connected to the wiper blade.
[0003] The adapter is then assembled with the connector in such a way that they are rotatable relative to each other. This allows the wiper blade to be rotatable so that it best fits the glass surface of the vehicle. The rotational assembly is carried out in particular by means of a rotation means of the adapter comprising at least one bearing and one stud capable of cooperating with complementary means of the connector.
[0004] A problem with current connector assemblies on adapters lies in particular in the fact that the adapters have a reinforcement of their wall, thus increasing their rigidity. Indeed, this rigidity, although ensuring good maintenance in position of the connector on the adapter once mounted, hinders the mounting of the connector on the adapter. The user must, in certain cases, force to mount the connector on the adapter, this being able to cause deformation of the rotation means or even, in the most extreme cases, breakage of the adapter preventing all use of said adapter.
[0005] The aim of the present invention is therefore to improve the mounting of connectors on current adapters, without complicating its design, its production, or increasing its production cost.
[0006] The main subject of the present invention is an adapter for attaching a wiper blade to an arm of a wiping system, the adapter being configured to be pivotally mounted about a direction of rotation on a connector of the wiper blade, the adapter comprising at least two side walls opposite each other in a transverse direction of the adapter and such that they deflect at least partly limit a receiving space for the connector, the adapter comprising at least one pivoting member of the adapter relative to the connector formed on one of the side walls, characterized in that one of the side walls comprises at least one slot participating in delimiting a tab, the slot giving a deformable character to the tab, the pivoting member being arranged on the tab.
[0007] The wiper blade and the arm are part of a wiping system for a vehicle and intended to clean at least part of a glass surface of said vehicle. The adapter is then pivotally mounted relative to the connector so that the wiper blade, and in particular a blade that it carries, follows a curve of the glass surface.
[0008] The adapter here comprises the two side walls which delimit the receiving space of the connector and in which the connector is arranged when a wiper blade is mounted on the arm of the wiping system. The receiving space is configured to provide tight guidance of the connector when said connector is mounted in the receiving space of the adapter. This tight guidance is essential for holding the connector in position in the receiving space of the adapter and preventing movement of the connector and / or the adapter other than around the direction of rotation. It is understood from this that each side wall comprises at least one contact face with the connector which makes contact along the plane in which the contact face extends and holds the connector in position.
[0009] Furthermore, the adapter may comprise transverse walls extending between the side walls, the transverse walls also participating in delimiting the receiving space. In addition, the transverse walls may also provide tight guidance of the connector similarly to what has been described with regard to the side walls.
[0010] The pivoting member cooperates with a pivoting element of the connector to allow rotation of the connector and / or the adapter about the direction of rotation. For this purpose, the pivoting member of the adapter and the pivoting element of the connector form a pivot connection about the direction of rotation.
[0011] The tab is delimited at least in part by the slot and constitutes one of the side walls of the adapter. It is further understood that, thanks to the slot, the tab is elastically deformable. In other words, the tab is movable between at least two positions, a standard position in which the tab extends parallel to the side wall, and a mounting position in which the tab extends in a plane intersecting a main plane of extension of the side wall, the tab also passing from the standard position to the mounting position, in particular when mounting the connector on the adapter, then returning to the standard position once the connector is mounted on the adapter.
[0012] In this configuration, the mobility of the tab makes it possible to mount the connector on the adapter without the risk of deforming or even breaking an element of the adapter and / or the connector. Indeed, the tab provides a certain flexibility when mounting the connector on the adapter, while allowing the other elements of the adapter to remain rigid and hold the connector in position.
[0013] According to an optional characteristic of the invention, at least the side wall carrying the tongue comprises at least one external partition and one internal partition, each partition extending in a plane parallel to the plane in which the other partition is inscribed. “Internal partition” means a partition which faces the receiving space delimited by the side walls, and “external partition” means a partition which faces the external environment of the adapter.

[0021] According to another optional characteristic of the invention, the slot comprises a bottom, the direction of bending of the tongue passing through the bottom of the slot.
[0022] According to another optional characteristic of the invention, the direction of bending extends perpendicular to a main direction of extension of the slot.

[0049] The features, variants and different embodiments of the invention may be combined with each other, in various combinations, provided that they are not incompatible or mutually exclusive. In particular, variants of the invention may be imagined comprising only a selection of features described below in isolation from the other features described, if this selection of features is sufficient to confer a technical advantage and / or to differentiate the invention from the prior art.
[0050] In the following description, the terms “longitudinal”, “transverse” and “vertical” refer to the orientation of a cleaning device according to the invention. A longitudinal direction corresponds to a main direction of extension of an adapter according to the invention, this longitudinal direction being parallel to a longitudinal axis L of an L, V, T illustrated in the figures. A transverse direction corresponds to a direction along which a pivot member mainly extends, this transverse direction being parallel to a transverse axis T of the reference frame L, V, T and this transverse axis T being perpendicular to the longitudinal axis L. Finally, a vertical direction corresponds to a direction parallel to a vertical axis V of the reference frame L, V, T, this vertical axis V being perpendicular to the longitudinal axis L and the transverse axis T.
[0051] [Fig.l] illustrates a wiping system 1 according to the invention. As shown, this wiping system 1 comprises at least one wiper blade 2 and at least one arm 4 connected to each other by at least one adapter 6 according to the invention. More precisely, the adapter 6 makes it possible to connect a connector 8 which carries the wiper blade 2, the latter comprising a blade 10, to the wiper arm 4.
[0052] The blade 10 of the wiper blade 2 is adapted to come into contact with a glazed surface of a vehicle, not visible, equipped with the wiping system 1 according to the invention. According to an example of the invention, the wiper blade 2 may comprise at least one stiffening member 12, for example an elongated support made of synthetic material or one or more metal vertebrae, and at least one air deflector 14. Air deflector 14 then means that the latter is configured to transform a pressure applied by a flow of air circulating along the glazed surface into a bearing force of the wiper blade 2 against the glazed surface of the vehicle.
[0053] The wiper arm 4 is configured to rotate the wiper blade 2. Thus, the arm 4 comprises at least a first end 16 secured to the adapter 6 and a second end 18 opposite the first end 16 in a main elongation direction P of the arm 4, the second end 18 being secured to a drive motor, not visible, housed within the motor vehicle.
[0054] The adapter 6 and the connector 8, and in particular their cooperation, will now be described in more detail using figures 2 to 8.
[0055] The adapter 6 extends in a main elongation direction substantially parallel to the longitudinal direction L and comprises at least two side walls 20 opposite one another in the transverse direction T of the adapter 6. Each side wall 20 extends in a plane parallel to the longitudinal directions L and vertical V of the trihedron L, V, T illustrated in each of the figures.
[0056] The two side walls 20 participate in delimiting a receiving space 22 of the connector 8. At least one bridge 24 extends in a plane parallel to the longitudinal L and transverse T directions of the adapter 6, inside a volume delimited by the side walls 20 and an upper wall 26. The bridge 24 connects the side walls 20 of the adapter 6. More precisely, the bridge 24 also participates in delimit the receiving space 22 of the connector 8, in cooperation with the side walls 20.
[0057] As mentioned above, the adapter 6 also comprises at least the upper wall 26 which extends mainly in a plane parallel to the longitudinal direction L and transverse direction T of the adapter 6, and over the entirety of a longitudinal dimension L of said adapter 6. The upper wall 26 nevertheless comprises a through opening 28, particularly visible in [Fig. 3], formed at least in line with the receiving space 22 of the connector 8 and opposite a receiving zone 30 of the wiper arm 4. It is then understood that the receiving space 22 of the connector 8 is open on either side of the adapter 6 in a vertical direction V, these openings being inscribed in planes parallel to the longitudinal directions L and transverse directions T.
[0058] The receiving zone 30 of the wiper arm 4 corresponds to a space intended to receive the first end 16 of the arm 4 and this space is delimited by an insertion hole for said arm 4, formed at a longitudinal end of the adapter, such that the insertion hole opens onto the receiving zone 30. The receiving zone 30 comprises at least one blocking stud 32, visible [Fig. 3], projecting from said receiving zone 30 in the vertical direction V of the adapter 6, said blocking stud 32 being able to cooperate with a hole, not visible, made in the first end 16 of the arm 4. The blocking stud 32 then makes it possible to block the longitudinal movements of the arm 4 when it is housed in the receiving zone 30. It is then understood that the upper wall 26 blocks the vertical movements of the arm 4 and the side walls 20 block its transverse movements.
[0059] The adapter 6 also comprises at least two buttons 34, visible in [Fig. 3], which extend from the receiving zone 30 and which form a gripping zone for unlocking the adapter 6 relative to the arm 4. Each of the buttons 34 is then connected to a single bracket 36 which extends in a plane parallel to the longitudinal L and transverse T directions of the adapter 6, along the receiving zone 30 and opposite the upper wall 26. The bracket 36 is elastically deformable and in particular in a vertical movement, by the gripping of the buttons 34 by a user. By elastically deformable is meant the fact that the bracket 36 is able to deform, in particular in the vertical direction V of the adapter 6, then to return to its initial state without breakage or irremediable deformation of material. This makes it possible to separate the wiper arm 4, in particular by vertically moving the locking stud 32 which cooperates with the hole in the arm 4.
[0060] We will now describe more particularly the cooperation between the adapter 6 and the connector 8, in particular with reference to FIGS. 3 to 8.
[0061] As more particularly visible in Figures 3 to 8, the adapter 6 comprises at least at least one pivot member 38 of the adapter 6 relative to the connector 8, the pivot member 38 being formed on one of the side walls 20 of the adapter 6. The pivot member 38 cooperates with a pivot element of the connector 8, not shown in the figures, to allow the rotation of the connector 8 and / or of the adapter 6 about a direction of rotation R about which the connector 8 can be rotated. For this, the pivot member 38 of the adapter 6 and the pivot element of the connector 8 form a pivot connection about the direction of rotation R.
[0062] According to the invention and as illustrated in Figures 3 to 5, the pivoting member 38 comprises at least one stud 40 that is at least partially cylindrical. In other words, the stud 40 is at least partially cylindrical, that is to say that it can have a completely cylindrical shape, as more particularly visible in Figures 3 to 5, but can also comprise another shape, such as for example an oblong shape.
[0063] The at least partly cylindrical pad 40 extends along the transverse direction T from one of the side walls 20 towards the other side wall 20. It is understood that the pad 40 is arranged on one of the side walls 20 and extends towards the other side wall 20, the pad 40 projecting from the side wall 20 into the receiving space 22 of the connector 8.
[0064] In addition, the stud 40 comprises at least one at least partially discoid face 42 extending parallel to the other side wall 20 and opposite said side wall 20, a circular face 44 connecting the at least partially discoid face 42 to the side wall 20 carrying the pivot member 38, and a beveled face 46 connecting at least in part the at least partially discoid face 42 to the circular face 44. The beveled face 46 is also produced on the stud opposite the upper wall of the adapter. The beveled face 46 makes it possible, when mounting the connector 8 on the adapter 6, to facilitate the assembly of said connector 8 by allowing progressive mounting without a stop.
[0065] According to another example of the invention more particularly visible in [Fig. 8], the pivoting member 38 comprises at least one strand 48 also having an at least partially discoidal face 42 extending in a plane parallel to the longitudinal direction. As mentioned above, the strand 48 is a stud 40 taking an at least partly cylindrical shape, and further having the substantially planar circular face 44 extending from one end of the stud 40 to the side wall 20 carrying the pivoting member 38, this face advantageously extending in a plane parallel to the longitudinal L and transverse T directions.
[0066] According to another example of the invention more particularly visible in [Fig.6], the pivoting member 38 comprises at least one bearing 50 which is partly cylindrical. The bearing 50 also takes the form of an at least partly cylindrical orifice passing through the side wall 20 on either side along the transverse direction. It is understood here that the pivoting element of the connector 8 takes the form of a stud as described above capable of cooperating with the bearing 50 to form the pivot connection.
[0067] According to the invention, one of the side walls 20 comprises at least one slot 52 participating in delimiting a tongue 54, the slot 52 conferring an elastically deformable character to the tongue 54, the pivoting member 38 being arranged on the tongue 54. Here, the slot 52 corresponds for example to a groove passing through the side wall 20 on either side, the groove extending linearly. However, a slot 52 taking the form of a curved groove would not depart from the scope of the invention.
[0068] As illustrated in Figures 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8, the tab 54 is delimited at least in part by the slot 52 and constitutes one of the side walls 20 of the adapter 6. It is understood from this that, thanks to the slot 52, the tab 54 is made elastically deformable. In other words, the tab 54 is movable between at least two positions, a standard position in which the tab 54 extends parallel to the side wall 20, and a mounting position in which the tab 54 extends in a plane intersecting a main plane of extension of the side wall 20. The tab 54 passes from the standard position to the mounting position, in particular when mounting the connector 8 on the adapter 6, then returns to the standard position once the connector 8 is mounted on the adapter 6.
[0069] In this configuration, the mobility of the tab 54 due to the slot 52 increases the flexibility of the side wall 20 of the adapter 6 carrying the pivoting member 38 and makes it possible to mount the connector 8 on the adapter 6 without risk of deforming or even breaking an element of the adapter 6 and / or the connector 8. Indeed, this flexibility of the tab 54 facilitates the mounting of the connector 8 on the adapter 6, and allows the other elements of the adapter 6 to retain rigidity to hold the connector 8 in position.
[0070] As can be seen in particular in [Fig. 4], at least the side wall 20 carrying the tongue 54 comprises at least one external partition 58 and one internal partition 56, each of the internal 56 and external 58 partitions extending in a plane parallel to the plane in which the other partition 56, 58 is inscribed, that is to say that the internal partition 56 and the external partition 58 of the side wall 20 each extend parallel to each other. In other words, a dimension between the internal partition 56 and the external partition 58 is constant between each of the partitions 56, 58 regardless of where this dimension is measured, this dimension being moreover measured along a direction extending perpendicularly to the plane in which one or the other of the partitions 56, 58 extends.
[0071] “Internal partition 56” means a partition which faces the space of reception 22 delimited by the side walls 20, and by “external partition 58” a partition which faces the external environment of the adapter 6.
[0072] Advantageously, each of the side walls 20 comprises an external partition 58 and an internal partition 56. In this configuration, the internal partitions 56 of the side walls 20 are opposite each other.
[0073] As more particularly visible in [Fig. 4], the side wall 20 comprises at least one reinforcing wall 60 extending between the internal partition 56 and the external partition 58. The reinforcing wall 60 extends more particularly in a plane advantageously parallel to the transverse T and vertical V directions. The reinforcing wall 60 here participates in delimiting at least two chambers 62, each of the chambers 62 being delimited by the internal partition 56, the external partition 58 and the reinforcing wall 60. Preferably, the side wall 20 comprises a plurality of reinforcing walls 60 similar to that which has just been described.
[0074] The presence of the reinforcing walls between the internal partition 56 and the external partition 58 optimizes the rigidity of the adapter 6, and promotes the tight guiding of the connector 8 when the latter is mounted on the adapter 6, and also once the connector 8 is mounted on the adapter 6.
[0075] According to the invention, the tongue 54 extends in a plane parallel to the plane in which the internal partition 56 is inscribed. It is understood from this that the plane in which the tongue 54 is inscribed extends parallel to that in which the internal partition 56 extends, the plane in which the tongue 54 is inscribed being able to be distinct from or coincident with the plane in which the internal partition 56 extends.
[0076] According to a first alternative of the invention, the tongue 54 extends in a plane distinct from the plane in which the internal partition 56 is inscribed. It is understood that the internal partition 56 extends in a first plane and that the tongue 54 extends in a second plane, the first plane being distinct and not merged with the second plane.
[0077] According to a second alternative of the invention and as illustrated for example in [Fig.4], the tongue 54 extends in a plane coincident with the plane in which the internal partition 56 is inscribed. It is understood from this that the plane in which the tongue 54 is inscribed is coincident with the plane in which the internal partition 56 extends.
[0078] As illustrated in Figures 3 to 6, the slot 52 is formed in the internal partition 56, the external partition 58 being continuous at the level of the slot 52. It is understood that the external partition 58 is generally continuous and does not have slots or notches, while the internal partition 56 comprises at least the slot 52 participating in delimiting the tongue 54. The tongue 54 is advantageously constitutive of the internal partition 56, that is to say that the tongue 54 is a portion of the internal partition 56 delimited with respect to the rest of the internal partition 56 by the slot 52. However, an external partition 58 comprising a slot, a notch or another element causing a dis continuity of the external partition 58 would not depart from the scope of the invention.
[0079] It is also understood from the above that, as visible in [Fig. 3], the at least partly cylindrical stud 40 of the pivoting member 38 extends from the internal partition 56 of one of the side walls 20 towards the other side wall 20.
[0080] Furthermore, the internal partition 56 comprises at least one contact face 64 with the connector 8, the contact face 64 differing from the tab 54 with respect to the slot 52. The contact face 64 is intended to be in contact with the connector 8 so as to make contact along the plane in which said contact face 64 extends for the most part. The contact face 64 of the internal partition 56 participates in particular in effecting the tight guiding of the connector 8 in the adapter 6.
[0081] According to the invention and as shown in Figures 3 to 6, the tongue 54 is movable about a direction of bending A extending secantly to a main direction of extension of the slot 52 and in the plane in which the tongue 54 mainly extends. The tongue 54 passes from the standard position to the mounting position, and vice versa, by being movable about the direction of bending A. According to an exemplary embodiment, the tongue 54 is movable about the direction of bending A by approximately a few degrees, for example by approximately 1° to 5°.
[0082] The slot 52 comprises an inlet arranged at an edge of the tongue 54 and a “U” shaped bottom 66, the direction of bending A of the tongue 54 passing through the bottom 66 of the slot 52. More particularly, the direction of bending A advantageously extends perpendicularly to a main direction of extension of the slot 52.
[0083] According to a first exemplary embodiment of the invention and as illustrated in [Fig. 3] to 5, the slot 52 extends along a direction intersecting the longitudinal direction L. Advantageously, the slot 52 extends perpendicularly to the longitudinal direction L and parallel to the vertical direction V. However, a slot 52 extending along a direction intersecting the longitudinal directions L and vertical directions V would not depart from the scope of the invention.
[0084] In this first embodiment, the direction of bending A of the tongue 54 extends parallel to the longitudinal direction L. It is understood that the direction of bending A extends secantly relative to the direction along which the slot 52 extends, the latter here extending along the vertical direction V, the direction of bending A extending parallel along the longitudinal direction L.
[0085] According to a second exemplary embodiment of the invention and as more particularly visible in [Fig. 6], the slot 52 extends along a direction parallel to a longitudinal direction of the adapter 6, that is to say along a main direction of extension of the adapter 6. More precisely, the slot 52 comprises a first portion 68 extending parallel to the longitudinal direction L, and a second portion 70 extending here along the vertical direction V. In this configuration, the slot 52 thus extends at least partly along the vertical direction V at its first portion 68, that is to say in a secant manner relative to the longitudinal direction L, and along the longitudinal direction L at its second portion 70. However, a tongue 54 delimited by a slot 52 extending mainly parallel to the longitudinal direction L would not depart from the scope of the invention.
[0086] In this second embodiment, the direction of bending A extends in a secant manner relative to the longitudinal direction L. Furthermore, and advantageously, the direction of bending A extends perpendicularly relative to the longitudinal direction L. It is understood that the direction of bending A extends in a secant manner relative to the direction along which the slot 52 extends, the latter extending here, as a reminder, parallel to the longitudinal direction L, the direction of bending A extending parallel along the vertical direction V.
[0087] Advantageously and as illustrated in Figures 3 to 6, as well as in [Fig.8], one of the side walls 20 comprises two slots 52 participating in delimiting the tongue 54, the two slots 52 extending parallel to each other. It is understood that the tongue 54 is delimited on either side by two slots 52, this exemplary embodiment optimizing the flexibility of the tongue 54.
[0088] More precisely, it is the internal partition 56 of the side wall 20 which comprises two slots 52 participating in delimiting the elastically deformable tongue 54, the two slots 52 extending parallel to one another. Advantageously, and as illustrated in FIGS. 3, 4, 5 and 8, the two slots 52 are substantially similar. Indeed, the two slots 52 extend along a direction parallel to the vertical direction V, the bottoms 66 of each of the slots 52 being aligned along a direction parallel to the longitudinal direction L.
[0089] However, and as illustrated in [Fig. 6], the two slots 52 may be different from each other. Indeed, a first slot 52 comprises a first portion 68 extending parallel to the longitudinal direction L and a second portion 70 extending along the vertical direction V, while a second slot 52 extends mainly along the longitudinal direction L. In this configuration, the first portion 68 of the first slot 52 extends parallel to the second slot 52, the bottoms 66 of each of the slots 52 being aligned along a direction parallel to the vertical direction V.
[0090] According to the invention, the direction of bending A of the tongue 54 passing through the bottom 66 of each of the slots 52. It is understood that the position of the bottom 66 of each slots 52 on the internal partition 56 participate in forming the axis along which the direction of bending A extends.
[0091] It is understood that, as illustrated in Figures 3, 4, 5 and 8, the bending direction A extends parallel to the longitudinal direction L and passes through the bottom 66 of each bottom 66 of the slots 52, while, as visible in [Fig. 6], the bending direction A extends parallel to the vertical direction V and passes through the bottom 66 of the first slot 52 and through the bottom 66 of the second slot 52.
[0092] The present invention should not, however, be limited to the means and configurations described and illustrated herein and it also extends to any equivalent means and configuration as well as to any technically operative combination of such means. In particular, the direction along which the slot 52 extends and the shape taken by the pivoting member 38 may vary from that described previously, as long as the tongue 54 carries the pivoting member 38 and remains movable about the direction of deflection A.More precisely, a tongue 54 delimited by a slot 52 extending at least in part along the longitudinal direction L and carrying a pivoting member 38 taking the form of a stud 40 at least in part cylindrical would not depart from the scope of the invention any more than a tongue 54 delimited by a slot 52 extending at least in part along the vertical direction V and carrying a pivoting member 38 taking the form of a bearing 50 passing through the tongue 54. It is understood from this that the different characteristics of the invention described above can be assembled together without restriction unless otherwise stated.
