Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Acoustic enclosure with head-to-tail loudspeaker
[0001] The invention relates to an acoustic enclosure, of the type comprising a box carrying two loudspeakers arranged head-to-tail and rigidly connected to each other.
[0002] Loudspeakers dedicated to low frequencies are bulky and heavy elements, likely to cause significant vibrations of the acoustic enclosure. Also, they are arranged head to tail so that the vibrations generated by one cancel out those generated by the other.
[0003] To protect these speakers and allow good sound propagation, a box surrounds the speakers, providing a rigid frame and acoustic insulation. These shells are heavy, being made of a resistant material such as metal. The connection of the two speakers and their fixation in the box is complex.
[0004] Solutions are described for example in document FR 3 087 067.
[0005] In Figures 8 to 10, the attachment of the two loudspeakers is done by joining them on a central soul.
[0006] A first loudspeaker is screwed through the central core, the screw being received in the fixed structure of the loudspeaker.
[0007] The second loudspeaker is provided on its rear face with a collar ring held by a screw. The central core comprises a support block in which the collar ring is held by two pins engaged transversely to the axis of the two loudspeakers.
[0008] This arrangement allows the loudspeakers to be mounted and dismounted from a radial opening provided in the box between the two loudspeakers.
[0009] However, this device is heavy, and this is not suitable in certain areas of use where weight reduction is an objective, such as the automotive world.
[0010] The aim of the invention is to propose a lightweight acoustic enclosure.
[0011] To this end, the invention relates to an acoustic enclosure of the aforementioned type, ca characterized in that it comprises, on the one hand, a single tie rod connecting the two loudspeakers with two attachment ends, by complementary shape, each cooperating with a loudspeaker, the two ends being integral with each other in rotation around the axis of the tie rod and, on the other hand, an axial stop between the tie rod and each loudspeaker.
[0012] According to embodiments, the device comprises one or more of the following characteristics:
[0013] - each speaker is connected to the subwoofer;
[0014] - at least for one loudspeaker, an intermediate ring provided with a set of slots peripherals interposed between the speaker and the box and retaining screws of the ring on the box engaged in the set of slots, the loudspeaker being secured to the ring;
[0015] - the tie rod comprises a threaded rod;
[0016] - each stop comprises a nut engaged on the threaded rod and bearing on each speaker;
[0017] - the box is made of plastic;
[0018] - the box defines an opening forming access to the tie rod;
[0019] - a console obstructs access to the opening.
[0020] The invention also relates to a mounting method comprising:
[0021] - fixing the first loudspeaker to the box;
[0022] - fixing the tie rod at the rear of the first loudspeaker;
[0023] - fixing the second loudspeaker to the ring to form the rotating assembly;
[0024] - fixing the rear of the second loudspeaker to the tie rod when mounting the assembly rotary comprising the second speaker on the box; and
[0025] - fixing the rotating assembly to the box by placing the retaining screws in the peripheral slots of the ring.
[0026] The invention will be better understood on reading the following description, given solely by way of example and with reference to the drawings in which:
[0027] - [Fig.l] [Fig.l] is a perspective view of the acoustic enclosure in section according to a median longitudinal plane;
[0028] - [Fig.2] [Fig.2] is an exploded perspective view of the acoustic enclosure re presented in [Fig.l]; and
[0029] - [Fig.3] [Fig.3] is a partial perspective view of the acoustic enclosure, of the Figures 1 and 2, of an axial end of the enclosure carrying a loudspeaker.
[0030] The acoustic enclosure 10 shown in Figures 1 and 2 comprises a cylindrical box of circular section 15 of axis XX made of plastic material, defining two axial end openings 20, 25. The acoustic enclosure 10 comprises two loudspeakers 26, 27 arranged head to tail along the axis XX and mounted in the two openings 20, 25. Alternatively, the shape of the box 15 is parallelepipedal.
[0031] The box 15 comprises a cylindrical skirt 31 partially closed at one end by a circular rim 32 made of the same material as the skirt and delimiting the receiving opening 20 of the loudspeaker.
[0032] The two loudspeakers 26, 27 are identical and each comprise a rigid bowl 33 carrying a movable membrane 34. The loudspeaker comprises a motor 35 having a magnetic circuit 36 arranged at the bottom of the bowl 33 and forming with it the fixed structure of the loudspeaker. The motor further comprises a movable coil secured to the membrane 34.
[0033] The rigid salad bowl 33 has a collar around its periphery around the membrane 34 fixing device 37 provided with holes to accommodate screws.
[0034] The acoustic enclosure comprises a single tie rod 40 adapted to connect the fixed structures of the two loudspeakers to each other.
[0035] As visible in [Fig.l], the tie rod 40 extending along the axis XX is a threaded rod, and carries two nuts 50, 55 serving as a stop to rigidly connect the two loudspeakers 26, 27 together.
[0036] The single tie rod 40 has one end screwed into a tapped hole 56 provided axially on the fixed structure of the loudspeaker 26. The nut 50 is screwed into abutment against the loudspeaker 26 to prevent any movement of the loudspeaker 26 along the single tie rod 40.
[0037] The second end of the single tie rod 40 is screwed into a tapped hole 57 provided at the rear of the loudspeaker 27 with the nut 55 tightened against the fixed structure of the loudspeaker 27.
[0038] Bolts 60 connect the loudspeaker 26 to the circular rim 32 of the box 15. These bolts comprise a screw engaged from the inside of the box 15 through aligned holes in the rim 32 and the peripheral collar 37 of the loudspeaker 26. The head of the screw is retained in rotation in a complementary shaped imprint of the rim 32. A nut tightened from the outside of the loudspeaker 26 ensures the connection.
[0039] An intermediate ring 65 is interposed between the box 15 and the loudspeaker 27 to allow the angular positioning of the loudspeaker 27 relative to the box.
[0040] This ring 65 extends the cylindrical skirt 31 of the box 15 and extends radially inwards. It internally delimits a circular opening 70 for receiving the loudspeaker 27. This circular opening 70 is the same size as the opening 20 for receiving the loudspeaker 26. The ring 65 has two rings of concentric holes for receiving screws for connection to the box 15 and to the loudspeaker 27.
[0041] An outer crown is located on the flat face of the ring 65 along the outer edge in the extension of the outer edge of the box 15 on the side of the opening 25. The holes of this outer crown are peripheral slots 75 positioned in the thickness of the ring 65 and in the extension of the box 15, visible in [Fig.3].
[0042] The slots each extend over approximately 5° of arc and are separated by a bridge extending over less than 1° of arc. They therefore cover most of the crown.
[0043] The inner crown is located on a circle of smaller diameter corresponding to the diameter of the circle of screw holes of the peripheral fixing collar 37 of the loudspeaker 27.
[0044] The loudspeaker 27 is connected by bolts 80 to the ring 65. The head of the screws is held in rotation in a recess of complementary shape of the ring. The screws are oriented from the inside of the ring 65 towards the outside of the loudspeaker 27. The nuts are positioned from the outer face of the loudspeaker 27.
[0045] The ring 65 and the loudspeaker 27 form a rotating assembly 85. Bolts 90 connect it to the box 15. These bolts are placed in the slots of the outer crown of the ring and hold the rotating assembly 85 to the box 15 with nuts retained in notches 95 opening onto the cylindrical outer surface of the box 15.
[0046] The box 15 has an opening 96 in a direction orthogonal to the axis XX. This opening 96 is wide enough to allow a tool to be passed for tightening the nuts 50, 55 on the tie rod 40.
[0047] A fixing console 100 is screwed onto this opening 96 by bolts 105. The fixing console 100 is suitable for ensuring the connection of the enclosure to the body of a motor vehicle.
[0048] The assembly of the acoustic enclosure 10 will now be briefly described, with reference to [Fig.2].
[0049] The loudspeaker 26 is mounted on the box 15 by placing screws 60 in the smooth holes of the circular rim 32, passing through the inside of the box 15. These screws fix the loudspeaker 26 to the box by immobilizing them with nuts from the outside of the loudspeaker 26.
[0050] The tie rod 40 is screwed into the tapped hole 56 of the loudspeaker 26 through the opening 25 in the box 15. The tie rod carries the two nuts 50, 55, previously mounted. The first nut 50 is tightened in abutment against the bottom of the bowl 33 of the loudspeaker 26, immobilizing the tie rod 40 in rotation.
[0051] The loudspeaker 27 is fixed to the ring 65 by placing the bolts 80.
[0052] The rotary assembly 85 formed by the loudspeaker 27 and the ring 65 is then screwed onto the tie rod 40. The tie rod 40, remaining static due to the nut 50, enters the tapped hole 57 of the loudspeaker 27 by rotation thereof. The rotary assembly 85 rotates until the ring 65 is resting on the box 15.
[0053] The nuts are placed in the notches 95 to securely hold the screws thus connecting the rotating assembly 85 to the box 15.
[0054] The screws 90 are inserted into the peripheral slots 75, the length of which allows alignment of the screws 90 and the associated holes in the box 15. If alignment is impossible, the rotary assembly 85 is rotated a few additional degrees to ensure that the peripheral slots 75 are opposite the holes in the box 15. The screws 90 are tightened.
[0055] The nut 55 is tightened until it stops against the bottom of the bowl 33 of the loudspeaker 27, passing through the opening 96.
[0056] The electrical connections between the two loudspeakers 26, 27 are made once the two loudspeakers are rigidly connected to each other, limiting the impact of the rotation of the loudspeaker 27 on the electronic coupling of the two loudspeakers. The screws making part of the bolts 105 are installed along the opening 96 before the latter is closed.
[0057] The opening 96 is obstructed by the fixing console 100 using the bolts 105 and the tightening of the corresponding nuts.
[0058] For the disassembly of the acoustic enclosure 10, the reverse approach is used.
[0059] The acoustic enclosure 10 has the advantage of being compact, simple to assemble and disassemble and not requiring glue or other chemical element.
