Description

Title of the invention: MOTOR VEHICLE COMPRISING A SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR WINDING AN ON-BOARD CHARGING CABLE

[0001] The invention relates to the field of electric vehicles, and more specifically to cable charging systems for these vehicles.

[0002] In this field, for connecting an electric vehicle to a charging station, an extension cable is connected to an interface on the vehicle and on the charging station. After use, the cable is stored in the trunk of the vehicle.

[0003] Unfortunately, the cable takes up space in the trunk, and is not practical to handle. In addition, the cable is often tangled which makes it even less practical; and dirty because it drags on the ground when in use.

[0004] The objective of the invention is to remedy the defects of the prior art, and in particular to propose a charging cable solution that is practical to use, easy to store without reducing the capacity of the trunk, and less prone to soiling.

[0005] To achieve this objective, the invention proposes a motor vehicle in a spatial reference frame comprising a front-rear axis following a direction of movement of the motor vehicle, a lateral axis perpendicular to the front-rear axis, and a vertical axis perpendicular to the front-rear axis and to the lateral axis, the motor vehicle comprising: - a traction battery; - an on-board charging cable comprising one end electrically connected to the traction battery, and one end comprising a charging connector configured to be connected to a charging station; - an anti-shock system comprising two absorbers each mounted around an absorber axis; characterized in that it further comprises: - a reel mounted on one of the absorbers around its absorber axis, the charging cable being able to be wound or unwound on the reel; and - a return means actuating the reel in the direction of winding the charging cable.

[0006] Advantageously, the installation of a winder system around the absorber of the bumper beam with a winding return system allows the user of the vehicle to have a more practical, rapid and clean connection to the terminal.

[0007] Furthermore, the invention allows for simplified handling for the user and space saving in the trunk. In addition, there is no longer any need for an extension cable.

[0008] According to a variant, the return means comprises a spring having one end fixed to the reel, and the other end fixed to the second shock absorber, so that the return means actuates the reel in the direction of winding the charging cable. This makes it easier to store the cable by automatic winding.

[0009] According to one variant, the motor vehicle comprises a body, and a connector hatch in the body, configured to provide access to the connector. This makes it easier to access the connector for unwinding the cable.

[0010] According to one variant, the connector hatch comprises a stop limiting the winding of the charging cable. This makes it possible to maintain at least part of the connector in the hatch.

[0011] According to a variant, the absorber axes are parallel to the front-rear axis. This makes it possible to wrap around a forward-facing axis, and to occupy space above, below and laterally to the absorber, at the bumper.

[0012] According to a variant, the motor vehicle comprises a front bumper and a rear bumper with reference to the front-rear axis, and the winder is arranged on an absorber of the rear bumper with reference to the front-rear axis. This makes it possible to occupy an available space at the rear bumper.

[0013] According to a variant, the absorber carrying the reel is cylindrical. This makes it easier to fit the reel onto the absorber.

[0014] According to a variant, the return means comprises a cord configured to be wound onto the reel while the charging cable is being unwound, so that the return means actuates the reel in the direction of winding the charging cable. This makes it possible to reinforce the return force by winding the cord.

[0015] According to one variant, the reel comprises a first compartment for winding the cable, and a second separate compartment for winding the cord. This prevents the cord and the charging cable from becoming tangled.

[0016] The invention further relates to a vehicle charging method for a motor vehicle according to the invention, characterized in that it comprises the following steps: - accessing the connector, - unwind the charging cable by counteracting the return means; - connect the connector to a charging station; - disconnect the connector from the charging station; - wind the charging cable using the reel.

[0017] The invention will be further detailed by the non-limiting description of variants, and on the basis of the appended figures, in which: - [Fig.l] schematically illustrates a view in space of a body of a vehicle according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, equipped with a bumper beam; - [Fig.2] schematically illustrates a view similar to that of [Fig.l], but without said bumper beam; - [Fig.3] schematically illustrates a rear view of the case of [Fig.2], where the connector is pulled to unwind the cable; and - [Fig.4] schematically illustrates a view similar to that of [Fig.3], where the connector is released to wind the cable.

[0018] The invention relates to an electric motor vehicle which comprises a traction battery, and an on-board charging cable C connected to the traction battery. For simplification, the figures do not illustrate the body of the vehicle, but the body H.

[0019] The motor vehicle is described in a reference frame in space comprising a front-rear axis X following a direction of movement of the motor vehicle, a lateral axis Y perpendicular to the front-rear axis X, and a vertical axis Z perpendicular to the front-rear axis X and to the lateral axis Y.

[0020] The on-board cable C comprises an F connector, such as an electrical plug, to be connected to a charging station to recharge the vehicle.

[0021] According to the invention, the electric motor vehicle further comprises a winder E placed around the absorber Al of the bumper beam PC.

[0022] The charging cable C is wound on the reel E.

[0023] In addition, the electric motor vehicle further comprises a return spring R fixed, at one end, to the second absorber A2 opposite the first absorber A1, and to the winder E at the other end.

[0024] When the charging cable C is unwound, the spring R winds concomitantly around the cable reel E, and generates a return force which will allow the cable C to be rewound after having disconnected it from the terminal.

[0025] Preferably, the absorber A1 extends beyond the rear of the winder E so as to form a separate compartment for winding the spring R. [Fig.2] illustrates these two compartments.

[0026] The charging cable C is accessible via a hatch T placed on the body of the vehicle, for example at the bumper.

[0027] In use, the user accesses the hatch T, for example by opening a cover (not shown). He can then grasp the connector F and pull it as illustrated in [Fig.3], to connect the plug F to a socket on the charging station.

[0028] By unwinding the cable C, the cord of the spring R is wound onto the reel E.

[0029] At the end of recharging, the user disconnects plug F from the socket, and leaves cable C wind up under the effect of spring R as illustrated in [Fig.4].

[0030] By winding the cable C, the cord of the spring R unwinds by applying a return force.
