Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Cosmetic applicator Technical field
[0001] The present invention relates to a cosmetic applicator intended for the application of a cosmetic composition to the skin or the lips. Prior art
[0002] Applicators are known comprising an application member having a body defining a facet used for applying the composition.
[0003] Application WO 2020 / 149203 describes an application member having a body of generally symmetrical shape of revolution, with the exception of a facet of generally oval contour, extending obliquely to the distal end of the application member. The region of largest diameter of the body may be located at the base of the facet or between its proximal and distal ends. The maximum width of the facet is reached in each case after the body has reached its maximum diameter, the maximum width of the facet being located on a region of the body whose width decreases.
[0004] Application WO 2022 / 004176 describes an application member comprising a body having a cylindrical portion, of circular or polygonal section, extended at its distal end by a generally conical tip, an oblique facet extending over a part of said cylindrical portion and over the tip. The width of the facet may be maximum at the connection of said cylindrical portion and the tip.
[0005] To apply a cosmetic composition such as a concealer, it is necessary not only to be able to apply the composition in a layer of sufficient thickness over a relatively large surface area without having to refill the applicator too frequently, but also to be able to do so precisely without the risk of irritating the skin, which is particularly sensitive in this area, or even stinging the eye.
[0006] Existing applicators do not offer complete satisfaction by having either an application member of the powder puff type, very wide but insufficiently precise, or of the beveled tip type, relatively narrow and precise but poorly adapted to quickly covering a large surface and depositing a quantity of composition in a single gesture which is often too small. Statement of the invention
[0007] There is therefore a need to further improve the applicators intended for the application of a cosmetic product such as a concealer, and more generally any cosmetic product to be applied to the skin or the lips.
[0008] There is in particular an interest in being able to apply the cosmetic composition precisely and with a relatively large quantity. Summary of the invention
[0009] The invention aims to meet this need, and it achieves this by proposing a cosmetic applicator comprising an application member comprising: - A body having a longitudinal axis, a distal end and a width, measured in front view, which increases over at least a portion of the length of said body towards the distal end and passes through a maximum Lmax, - at least one facet extending obliquely to the longitudinal axis, at least partially along the portion of the body of increasing width, this facet having a width which increases then decreases towards the distal end and passes through a maximum width substantially at the same distance from the distal end, measured along the longitudinal axis, as where said portion of increasing width reaches its maximum width Lmax.
[0010] By "substantially at the same distance" it is necessary to understand that the distance dfacet at the distal end where the width of the facet is maximum is equal to that dbody of the body where the latter is of maximum width, to within x%, that is to say that ldfaThis-dbodyl / d facet <x / 100 avec x% égal à 5%, mieux à 2% ou encore mieux à 1%.
[0011] Thanks to the invention, there is a surface available for applying the product which is relatively large, is capable of being loaded with a relatively large quantity of product, and facilitates its spreading, while retaining the possibility of precise application thanks to the shape of the facet, the width of which decreases towards the distal end of the application member.
[0012] Such an applicator is thus particularly suitable for the application of a concealer product, but can also be suitable for the application of a lip gloss which is generally applied in a thick layer, among other cosmetic compositions.
[0013] Preferably, the facet has two edges adjacent to the distal end of the application member, in particular substantially rectilinear, preferably rectilinear, these two edges defining an obtuse angle between them. Thus, the applicator remains relatively soft at its tip, and the risk of unpleasantly pricking the sensitive region of the eye is limited. It is thus possible to approach the eye without risk and apply the composition optimally.
[0014] By "substantially rectilinear" it is meant that the edge extends along a straight line or along an arc which has a curvature large enough to approach a straight line with a deviation of less than 0.5 mm, better than 0.3 mm, even better than 0.1 mm, over an edge length of at least 2.5 mm, better than at least 3 mm, even better of at least 3.5mm, or even at least 4mm. The obtuse angle is measured between approaching straight lines, when the edges are not straight.
[0015] The obtuse angle can in particular be greater than 90° and less than 120°, better than 100°, which makes it possible to keep a sufficiently tapered character to be precise.
[0016] Preferably, the facet is flat, which maximizes the contact surface with the skin.
[0017] Preferably, the facet has a substantially polygonal outline, advantageously in the shape of a convex kite.
[0018] If h is the distance, measured along the longitudinal axis of the application member, between the distal end and the location where the width of the facet is maximum, the long sides of the facet are located at a distance from the distal end of the application member greater than h.
[0019] The ratio of the axial distance by which the short sides extend to the total axial dimension of the facet may be between 1 / 4 and 1 / 3.
[0020] The width of the application member, measured in side view (in a viewing direction perpendicular to that of the front view), may increase from a proximal end of the application member to a proximal end of the facet. This allows the surface area of the facet to be further increased, since the cross-section of the application member is larger where it begins.
[0021] The application member may have, between the facet and the proximal end of the application member, a cross-section decreasing, in particular continuously, in the direction of the proximal end of the application member.
[0022] Preferably, the application member has a symmetrical shape with respect to a median plane of symmetry, generally perpendicular to the facet.
[0023] Preferably, the facet is inclined at an angle of between 30 and 40° with the longitudinal axis of the application member.
[0024] The width Lmax can be greater than 6 mm and less than 8 mm, better between 6.5 and 7.5 mm.
[0025] Preferably, the body of the application member is flocked.
[0026] The application member may have, when viewed from the side, a front rectilinear edge extending from the facet towards the proximal end of the application member and a rear rectilinear edge extending on the opposite side over substantially the entire length of the body of the application member, the front edge preferably being steeper than the rear edge.
[0027] The application member may be located at one end of a rod connected at the other end to a closing cap.
[0028] The invention also relates, according to another of its aspects, to a packaging and application device comprising: - A container containing a cosmetic composition to be applied to the skin or lips, this container preferably comprising a wiping member, - an applicator as defined above.
[0029] The shape of the application member allows it to be wrung out well on the side opposite the facet, and thus to remain clean and precise. Brief description of the drawings
[0030] The invention may be better understood by reading the detailed description which follows, a non-limiting example of its implementation, and by examining the attached drawing, in which:
[0031] [Fig-1] represents in longitudinal section, partial and schematic, a device of packaging and application in accordance with the invention,

[0033] [Fig.3] is a front elevation view of the application member,
[0034] [Fig.4] is a side view of the application member, according to arrow IV of [Fig.3] And
[0035] [Fig.5] is a cross-section of the application member. Detailed description
[0036] [Fig. 1] shows a packaging and application device 1 according to the invention, comprising an applicator 2 and a container 3 containing a composition F to be applied to the skin or the lips, for example an anti-smear product.
[0037] The container 3 has a threaded neck 4 in the upper part, onto which a closing cap 5 can be screwed.
[0038] A wiping member 6 comprising a wiping lip 6a can be mounted in the neck 4, as illustrated.
[0039] The applicator 2, with longitudinal axis Y, comprises a rod 7, one end of which is connected to the cap 5, which serves as a gripping member, and the other end carries an application member 10, which is used to apply the composition F to the skin or lips.
[0040] The lip 6a of the wiping member 6 is adapted to wipe the rod 7 of the applicator, which may include a narrowing in the region which is positioned at the level of the lip 6a when the container is closed.
[0041] The application member 10 is shown in isolation in FIGS. 2 to 4.
[0042] It comprises a body 11 extended by a fixing end piece 12, intended to be inserted into a corresponding housing of the rod 7.
[0043] The body 11 and the end piece 12 can be produced by injection molding of a thermoplastic material, in particular elastomer.
[0044] The body 11 is covered with flocking 13, visible in [Fig. 1] and not shown in Figures 2 to 4.
[0045] The body 11 has a facet 20, which is advantageously flat, as illustrated, and extends obliquely at an angle α with the longitudinal axis Y, this angle α being of the order of 34° in the example considered.
[0046] When observed from the front as in [Fig.3], the facet 20 has a shape general kite shape, with two large edges 21 and two small edges 22, the facet being symmetrical with respect to a median plane M for the application member.
[0047] The edges 21 and 22 may be rectilinear, with a radius of curvature R of less than 0.5 mm at their apex, for example with a radius of curvature R of the order of 0.3 mm.
[0048] The angle b formed between the edges 22 is obtuse, being for example between 90° and 100°, in particular close to 95°.
[0049] If d denotes the length of the facet 20 measured along the Y axis, the width of the facet 20 is maximum and reaches substantially Lmax at the junction of the edges 21 and 22, at a distance h from the distal end 23 of the application member, measured along the Y axis.
[0050] The distance d is for example between 7 and 13 mm, better between 9 and 11 mm.
[0051] The h / d ratio is for example between 0.25 and 0.33.
[0052] The total length T of the body 11 is for example between 15 and 20 mm.
[0053] When the application member is observed from the side, as in [Fig. 4], the body 11 is delimited on the left by a front edge 15 extending between the apex 26 of the facet 20 and an edge 17 located at the proximal end of the body 11, and on the right by a rear edge 16, extending between the distal end 23 and the edge 17.
[0054] The edges 15 and 16 are rectilinear in the example considered, the front edge 15 being steeper than the edge 16, relative to the longitudinal axis Y. Thus the width w of the application member 10 increases between the edge 17 and the apex 26, in a section plane containing the axis Y and perpendicular to the median plane M.
[0055] When the body is observed from the front as in [Fig. 3], it is delimited by rectilinear left and right edges 18, making the same non-zero angle with the Y axis, for example of a few degrees. The distance measured between the edges 18 increases continuously from the edge 17 where it is for example approximately 5 mm (and corresponds substantially to the diameter of the rod 7) until reaching Lmax at the junction between the edges 21 and 22.
[0056] Between the proximal end of the body 11 and the apex 26 of the facet 20, the cross-section of the body 11 can increase continuously, this cross-section being non-symmetrical in revolution around the Y axis, having for example a shape changing from generally circular at the edge 17 to generally triangular (or convex kite-type quadrilateral having two small sides forming a fairly large angle between them), at the apex 26, as illustrated in [Fig.5].
[0057] To use the applicator 2, the user extracts the application member 10 from the container and can apply the composition F using the facet 20.
[0058] The relatively large surface area of the latter provides autonomy to the applicator and allows a sufficiently large quantity of composition to be applied to obtain the desired coverage. The composition present on the facet can be easily spread.
[0059] The tip of the applicator can be used to precisely apply composition F close to the eye, without the risk of pricking the skin.
[0060] The invention is not limited to the example just described. For example, the shape of the facet can be modified by slightly curving the edges or by giving a slight curve to the facet.
