Description

Title of the invention: Wiping device, method for spraying cleaning liquid and use of the device Field of the invention

[0001] The invention relates to a wiping device, a method for spraying cleaning liquid and a use of the device. State of the art

[0002] Document FR2898849 describes an alternative washing device for a linearly moving windscreen wiper. The device comprises a wiper blade holder carriage mounted movably in a rail extending along an edge of a glazed surface. The carriage is driven by a drive means. The carriage comprises a first channel for supplying a nozzle for generating a jet of washing liquid on a first side of the wiper blade and a second channel for supplying a nozzle for generating a jet of washing liquid on a second side of the wiper blade. The channels open into a slide in which a hollow piston comprising a lateral port, connected by a hydraulic connection to a source of washing liquid, is mounted movably between a first position in which the lateral port faces the first channel and a second position in which the lateral port faces the second channel. This makes it possible to alternately generate a jet of washing liquid on a first side and a second side of the wiper blade depending on the direction of movement of the wiper blade carriage.

[0028] Detailed description of embodiments of the invention

[0029] The invention proposes a device for wiping a surface comprising a wiping blade, extending in a longitudinal direction, a cleaning liquid projection ramp movable in translation transversely to the longitudinal direction of the blade, the ramp being supplied with cleaning liquid under pressure, the ramp being capable of projecting cleaning liquid on one side of the blade or the other of the blade depending on the pressure of the cleaning liquid, the sides of the blade being located on either side other side of the brush transversely to longitudinal direction. The device is of a simple design and is therefore simpler to manufacture. The device also has a lower mass and a lower manufacturing cost than, for example, a system of the type of FR2898849.

[0030] [Fig. 1] is a top view of a wiping device 10 according to the invention, according to an operating configuration. The device 10 allows the wiping of a surface of a motor vehicle. The vehicle may be a light vehicle (car) or a heavy goods vehicle (truck, coach). The surface may be a window of the vehicle. It may be the front window (windshield) or rear window (rear window) of the vehicle. The surface may also be a surface of at least one optical element of the vehicle. The optical element may be a means of assisting in driving and / or maneuvering the vehicle. It may be a means of taking pictures (a camera for example), a means of transmitting and / or receiving signals (such as a sensor, an optical sensor, for example a LIDAR, acronym for “light detection and ranging” or “laser imaging, detection, and ranging”). The optical element can also be a headlight - rear or front. The optical element interacts with the environment through the surface. This may be a protective surface between the optical element and the environment. For example, this may be the surface of a window placed between the optical element and the environment, or a surface of a housing enclosing a sensor (such as a face of a LIDAR housing). This may be a constituent of the optical element, such as the surface of a focusing lens of a camera. This may be the surface of the protective glass of a headlight. The surface may be opaque (in the visible wavelengths). The surface may be transparent to the emission and reception wavelengths of the optical element. Also, several optical elements may be considered interacting with the environment through a single surface. Thus, the invention relates to the use of the wiping device 10, for spraying cleaning liquid onto a surface chosen from a vehicle front window, a vehicle rear window and a vehicle optical element surface.

[0031] The device 10 comprises a wiper blade 14 for wiping the window. For this purpose, the blade 14 is in contact with the surface to be cleaned and ensures wiping of the surface. The blade 14 extends in a longitudinal direction. The blade 14 has an elongated shape. The length of the blade 14 may, among other things, depend on the surface to be cleaned by the blade 14. The device 10 may also comprise an arm 12 supporting at one of its ends 121 the blade 14. The blade 14 may be assembled to the arm 12 by means of an adapter 16. The adapter 16 may provide an articulation connection between the arm 12 and the blade 14. The arm 12 is driven in movement at one of its ends (not visible) by drive means, comprising a drive motor. The movement of the arm 12 is represented in rotation in [Fig.l] by the arrow 18; other movements are conceivable such as a translational movement or a movement combining translation and rotation. The movement of the brush 14 results in back and forth movements on the surface to be cleaned. Possibly, the movement occurs from a rest position of the brush to another rest position of the brush 14. Preferably, the movement occurs from a rest position of the brush to an extreme position of the brush 14, relative to the surface, then back to the rest position. The arm 12 drives the brush 14 in movement by its end 121.

[0032] The device 10 further comprises a ramp 20 for projecting cleaning liquid. The cleaning liquid makes it possible to improve the cleaning of the surface and the wiping by the wiping device 10. The ramp 20 makes it possible to project the liquid precisely towards the surface so as to ensure quality cleaning by the wiper 14. The ramp 20 is movable in translation relative to the wiper 14 so as to use the cleaning liquid in an optimized manner and limit losses. The ramp 20 is movable in translation transversely to the longitudinal direction of the wiper 14. In other words, the ramp 20 can move relative to the wiper 14 in a direction different from the longitudinal direction of the wiper 14.The direction of movement of the boom 20 may form an angle of between 70° and 110° relative to the longitudinal direction of the wiper 14, preferably between 80° and 100°, preferably substantially 90° or 90° (orthogonally). This allows the boom 20 to spray cleaning liquid at different locations relative to the wiper 14 - and thus to ensure efficient use of the cleaning liquid.

[0033] The ramp 20 is supplied with cleaning liquid under pressure. A feed pump (not visible) can supply the ramp 20. The pressure can be defined at the pump. The pump can be controlled with different pressure levels. The pump can supply the ramp 20 via a supply conduit 22. The conduit 22 can extend along the arm 12. Preferably, the device 10 comprises a single pump and a single supply conduit 22, making it possible to supply both sides of the brush 14. The use of a single conduit and a single pump avoids doubling the hydraulic circuit, which simplifies the device 10 and reduces its mass and its cost. The use of a single conduit rather than several conduits (for example two conduits) simplifies the assembly of the device 10 because it avoids the multiplication of conduit fixing members, conduit passages, and the complexity of assembling the conduits.A single conduit promotes the aerodynamics of the device 10. The use of a single conduit also makes it possible to limit the inertia of the arm and therefore the load imposed on the arm's drive means. The pump can be of the single-pump type, and the use of a single pump of this type avoids the use of a dual-pump, which is heavier and more expensive.

[0034] The ramp 20 is capable of projecting cleaning liquid on one side 141 of the brush 14 or on the other side 142 of the wiper 14. Thus, the ramp 20 can spray cleaning liquid at different locations relative to the wiper 14 to ensure quality cleaning and wiping of the surface. In particular, the sides 141, 142 are on either side of the wiper 14 transversely to the longitudinal direction of the wiper 14. The sides 141 and 142 are the two longitudinal flanks of the wiper 14. In other words, the sides 141 and 142 are the two lateral faces of the wiper 14. Thus, the ramp makes it possible to spray cleaning liquid in a manner appropriate to the movement of the wiper 14, which allows for better controlled consumption of the cleaning liquid. This also allows for better quality cleaning and wiping. Furthermore, the device 10 is such that a single ramp 20 allows the projection (or watering) of cleaning liquid at different locations on the broom - which makes the device simpler while making it less heavy and less expensive.

[0035] [Fig. 2] is a side view of the device in the configuration of [Fig. 1]. The arm 12 is assembled to the wiper 14 via the adapter 16. More specifically, the device 10 further comprises a connector 26, the adapter 16 being connected to the wiper 14 via the connector 26. The assembly between the arm 12 and the wiper 14 is achieved by the connection comprising the adapter 16 and the connector 26 fixed to each other via a pivot connection. Furthermore, the wiper 14 comprises a blade 24 capable of being in contact with the surface to be wiped. The blade 24 extends in the longitudinal direction of the brush 14. The blade 24 may be stiffened by one or more vertebrae (not visible in the figures) extending in the longitudinal direction of the brush 14, along the blade 24. The blade 24 is fixed to the connector 26.

[0036] [Fig. 3] is a top view of the device of [Fig. 1], according to another operating configuration. [Fig. 4] is a side view of the device in the configuration of [Fig. 3]. The device 10 of Figures 3 and 4 is the same as that of Figures 1 and 2, in a different operating configuration. According to Figures 3 and 4, the movement of the arm 12 is represented in rotation in [Fig. 3] by the arrow 19.

[0037] In the configuration of the device 10 of Figures 1 and 2, the boom 20 is in the retracted position. The boom 20 projects cleaning liquid onto the side 141 of the wiper 14. In the configuration of the device 10 of Figures 3 and 4, the boom 20 is in the deployed position. The boom 20 projects cleaning liquid onto the side 142 of the wiper 14. The boom 20 is capable of projecting cleaning liquid along the wiper 14, over the entire length of the wiper 14. The boom 20 is capable of projecting cleaning liquid in line with the boom 20, according to the arrow 28 of [Fig. 2] and according to the arrow 38 of [Fig. 4]. The ramp is also capable of projecting cleaning liquid laterally on either side of the ramp 20, according to the arrows 30 of [Fig. 1] and according to the arrows 40 of [Fig. 3]. The projection of the cleaning liquid by the ramp 20 is in the direction of the surface to be cleaned, as close as possible to the brush 14 to optimize the use of the cleaning liquid and reduce losses. The ramp 20 may include cleaning liquid projection orifices along the brush 14 to project the liquid according to the arrows indicated above.

[0038] The device 10 may further comprise a body 32 and a piston 34. The piston 34 is capable of supporting the ramp 20 in translation relative to the body 32. In Figures 1 and 2, in the retracted position of the ramp 20, the piston 34 is partly or completely in the body 32. This is symbolized by the arrow 36 in [Fig. 2]. In Figures 3 and 4, in the deployed position of the ramp 20, the piston 34 is at least partly out of the body 32. This is symbolized by the arrow 37 in [Fig. 4]. Retracting the piston 34 into the body 32 allows the boom to spray cleaning liquid on one side of the boom, for example side 141, and extending the piston 34 out of the body 32 allows the boom to spray cleaning liquid on another side of the boom, for example side 142. By a simple movement of the piston 34, the device 10 allows liquid to be sprayed in a targeted manner relative to the wiper 14.This makes it possible to optimize the use of the cleaning liquid and to improve the cleaning and wiping of the surface to be cleaned. The body 32, piston 34 and boom 20 assembly constitute a telescopic nozzle. The invention thus proposes to simplify existing surface watering solutions, by using a telescopic nozzle with the boom 20, which is integrated into the arm 12 and supplied by a single conduit 22 and the pump controllable with different pressure levels. A single nozzle is implemented.

[0039] The body 32 can be supported by the arm 12. The ramp 20 is capable of projecting cleaning liquid on one side of the brush 14 or on the other side of the brush 14 by a translation of the ramp 20 from the arm 12. The support of the body 32 by the arm 12 makes it possible to position the body 32 at a distance from the brush 14. This allows a movement of the ramp 20 to position it optimally relative to the brush 14.

[0040] The positioning of the body 32 on the arm 12 is determined so as to adjust the positioning of the ramp 20 relative to the wiper 14 in the different operating states of the device 10. The body 32 is positioned along the arm 12 so as not to disturb the articulation between the arm 12 and the wiper 14 during operation of the wiping device 10. Also, the body 32 is positioned along the arm 12 in order to position the ramp 20 relative to the brush 14 so as to precisely project the liquid relative to the brush 14 during operation of the device 10. Furthermore, the positioning of the body 32 relative to the arm 12 is also determined so as to limit the size of the piston in the deployed position of the ramp 22. This makes it possible to limit the size of the device 10. According to FIGS. 1 and 3, the body 32 is positioned near the end 121 of the arm 12.

[0041] The body 32 may further be at least partially integrated into the arm 12. This makes it possible to protect the body 32 against external stresses. This also makes it possible to promote the aerodynamics of the device 10.

[0042] Preferably, the ramp 20 is capable of projecting cleaning liquid upstream of the brush 14 as a function of the back and forth movements of the brush 14. This allows the brush 14 to move over the surface with cleaning liquid that has been projected onto the surface before the brush 14 reaches the location of the projected liquid. This ensures effective cleaning of the surface. During the movement of the brush 14 over the surface towards a rest position or an extreme position of the brush, one of the sides 141, 142 of the brush 14 is at the front of the movement of the brush. The ramp 20 is thus moved towards a retracted position or a deployed position so as to project the liquid respectively onto the side 141 or the side 142. For example, in the configuration of [Fig. 1], the device 10 moves according to the arrow 18, towards the bottom of the figure. The side 141 of the brush 14 is then upstream of the movement of the brush 14 (and the side 142 downstream). The side 141 faces the front of the brush 14 (and the side 142 faces the rear of the brush). The ramp 20 is then in the retracted position so as to project the liquid onto the side 141. Conversely, in the configuration of [Fig. 3], the device 10 moves according to the arrow 19, towards the top of the figure. The side 142 of the brush 14 is then upstream of the movement of the brush 14 (and the side 141 downstream). The side 142 faces the front of the brush 14 (and the side 141 faces the rear of the brush). The ramp 20 is then in the deployed position so as to project the liquid onto the side 142. This allows optimal use of the cleaning fluid.

[0043] In order to obtain optimal use of the fluid, the pump (and therefore the movement of the piston 34, of the ramp 20, of the actuation of the projection (or watering)) can also be activated only on rising / falling angular sectors and not on the entire swept area of the surface.

[0044] The movement of the ramp 20 between the retracted and deployed positions is ensured by the pressure of the cleaning liquid. The pressure of the cleaning liquid can vary depending on the forward or reverse movements of the wiper 14 so that the ramp 20 is able to spray cleaning liquid onto the side 141 of the wiper 14 or onto the other side 142 of the wiper 14, depending on the forward or reverse movements of the wiper 14. Thus, a variation in the pressure of the cleaning liquid makes it possible to control, in a simple manner, the movements of the ramp 20.

[0045] The ramp 20 may be able to occupy the deployed position when the pressure of the cleaning liquid is above a threshold pressure. Thus, the pressure of the cleaning liquid drives the piston 34 and the ramp 20 in a deployment movement. The ramp 20 may be able to occupy the retracted position when the pressure of the cleaning liquid is below the threshold pressure. The pressure management makes it possible to control the movement of the ramp in a simple manner. For example, during the forward movements of the wiper 14 - corresponding to FIGS. 3 and 4 - the pressure of the liquid is greater than the threshold pressure. The boom is then in the extended position for spraying cleaning liquid. The boom sprays liquid on the side 142, which is upstream of the movement of the brush. During the return movements of the brush 14 - corresponding to figures 1 and 2 - the liquid pressure is lower than the threshold pressure. The boom is then in the retracted position for spraying cleaning liquid. The boom sprays liquid on the side 141, which is upstream of the movement of the brush.

[0046] The device may further comprise a return member moving the ramp 20 from the deployed position to the retracted position. This simplifies the operation of the ramp 20. As long as the pressure is below the threshold pressure, the ramp 20 is held in the retracted position by the return member. When the pressure is above the threshold pressure, the ramp moves to the deployed position. When the pressure is again below the threshold pressure, the return member moves the ramp 22 to the retracted position, without the pressure of the liquid opposing it. The return member is for example a spring.

[0047] The invention also relates to a method for spraying cleaning liquid onto the surface to be cleaned. The method comprises providing the device 10 with the wiper 14 movable in back and forth movements. The method comprises moving the wiper in a forward movement (according to FIGS. 3 and 4 - for example in an upward direction on a car front window). The method then comprises supplying the boom 20 with cleaning liquid at a pressure greater than a threshold pressure so that the boom 20 is in a deployed position for spraying cleaning liquid upstream of the wiper 14. The pump is activated with a pressure P > Pthreshold so that the boom is deployed. The boom 20 is then in the deployed position with the wiper moving in a certain direction (for example upward direction) and the fluid sprayed upstream of the wiper (in front of the wiper). The upstream side 142 of the wiper is sprayed.According to Figures 3 and 4, the piston 34 slides out of the body 32. Then, the method can comprise moving the wiper in a return movement (according to Figures 1 and 2 - for example in a downward direction on a car front window). The method then comprises supplying the ramp 20 with cleaning liquid at a pressure lower than the threshold pressure so that the ramp 20 is in a retracted position for spraying cleaning liquid upstream of the wiper 14. The pump is activated with a pressure P such that 0 < P < Pthreshold. The ramp 20 is then in the retracted position with the wiper moving in another direction (for example downward direction) and the fluid sprayed upstream of the wiper (in front of the wiper). The upstream side 141 of the wiper is sprayed. According to Figures 1 and 2, the piston 34 slides to enter the body 32. If necessary, the piston 34 can enter the body 32 by the effect of the return member. The method may include repeating these moving and feeding steps, so as to clean and wipe the surface multiple times. The pressure of the pump can be adjusted automatically by a controller of the vehicle, in order to ensure that the deployment threshold value is reached (according to various external parameters (such as the external temperature, the viscosity of the fluid, the speed of the vehicle and associated charts defining the behavior of the pump as a function of these parameters, etc.) and / or according to parameters of the device (such as the size of the piston, the number of projection orifices, the length of the blade to be sprayed, etc.).

[0048] The invention also relates to a vehicle comprising one or more surfaces among a vehicle front window, a vehicle rear window and an optical element surface. The vehicle may comprise one or more wiping devices 10, the wiping device(s) 10 being capable of wiping respectively and where appropriate the at least one surface. This improves visibility through the surface (by the driver or an optical element) and optimizes the use of cleaning fluid. The device helps simplify vehicle manufacturing and reduce vehicle mass.

[0049] The wiping device 10 can be described as bidirectional, in the sense that the liquid is sprayed at different locations depending on the forward or return movement of the wiper, with a telescopic ramp.

[0050] The present invention has been described in relation to specific embodiments, which have a purely illustrative value and should not be considered as limiting. In general, it will be obvious to a person skilled in the art that the present invention is not limited to the examples illustrated and / or described above.
