Description

Title of the invention: system for storing packages intended for delivery

[0001] The present invention relates to a system for storing packages intended for delivery.

[0002] In order to clearly understand the positioning of the various parts involved when the storage system according to the invention is installed in a vehicle according to the invention, the description is carried out with reference to a direct orthonormal reference frame XYZ in which X is a front-rear longitudinal axis of said vehicle oriented towards the rear, Y is a transverse axis oriented towards the right of the vehicle and Z is a vertical axis directed upwards.

[0003] Such a storage system may, for example, be mounted in a delivery vehicle or included in a self-service device. When it is mounted in a delivery vehicle, it is the delivery driver of said vehicle who ensures home delivery. When it is included in the self-service device, the customer, who may, for example, be provided with a personal secret code, enters it on a screen of said device, then said device returns his parcel to said customer.

[0004] Currently, the process of delivering a package containing an object that has been ordered by a customer by means of a delivery vehicle includes the following steps: -the package that was ordered is received by a transport organization commissioned to deliver it to this customer, -it is then loaded into the trunk of a delivery vehicle with other packages to be delivered, all the packages being positioned in a rather disorderly manner in the said trunk, - the delivery driver uses his GPS to establish a route that is as suitable as possible for delivering all the packages to the customers concerned, limiting unnecessary detours and avoiding as much as possible intersections likely to have stop signs or traffic lights, -Once arrived at a customer's address, the driver manually selects, with some difficulty, the package to be delivered, which is buried among the other packages stored in the vehicle. -If the customer is present, he receives the package, and if he is absent, the delivery driver leaves with the package, which he places among the other packages to be delivered.

[0005] This delivery process is not optimized, because the packages are loaded into the delivery vehicle without any particular rigor and therefore risk easily getting mixed up. In addition, during certain sudden phases of braking or acceleration of the vehicle, the packages will tend to move in the trunk of the vehicle and will therefore find themselves in random positions in it. The mixture of packages in the vehicle will complicate the delivery operation, not to mention that said packages can be damaged when they are suddenly moved in it. Finally, it remains difficult to distinguish at first glance the packages remaining to be delivered during a tour and those returned to the vehicle following the absence of a customer to be delivered.

[0006] A parcel storage system according to the invention makes it possible to overcome all the drawbacks encountered with storage systems of the state of the art.

[0007] The subject of the invention is a package storage system comprising an external envelope and a storage structure placed in said envelope.

[0008] According to the invention, said storage structure comprises: -at least one rectangular holding frame delimited by four segments, and n-1 square and flat slabs placed in said holding frame in the same plane, while the total surface of said holding frame would be completely covered by n slabs, each slab being movable within the holding frame and being intended to support a package, and - means for moving the slabs in the holding frame, making it possible to move a selected slab from a starting location in the holding frame to a common arrival location in said frame, the movement of the selected slab being carried out by sliding along neighboring slabs and / or at least one segment of the holding frame, and by means of a succession of movements of said neighboring slabs against other slabs and / or at least one segment of the holding frame, so that the selected slab progresses step by step towards its arrival location, the movement of the slabs in the holding frame being possible thanks to the opening created by the missing slab. A storage system according to the invention may for example be constituted by a parcel distribution device which would be self-service and which would be accessible by a customer who had ordered a parcel. This customer could identify himself with a personal code that would have been transmitted to him and that would only be valid for a given period. By entering his code in the device, he would then have direct access to his parcel. Such a storage system can also be embedded in a utility vehicle and would then be managed by a delivery driver who would be in charge of delivering parcels to customers who would be along a route. The principle of a storage system according to the invention is directly inspired by the game called teaser, for which the movement of pieces in a rectangular frame is carried out step by step, thanks to an opening created in the frame and having the dimensions of a piece. The pieces move in the frame by sliding along the other pieces or against a segment delimiting the frame so as, for example, to reconstruct a series of patterns or numbers.A storage system according to the invention is structured because it has a plurality of slabs each carrying a . parcel. Access to a specific parcel is achieved by moving the slab carrying said parcel to a common location from which the parcel can be removed. In this way, there is only one common exit for the parcels within the storage system. The storage system may comprise several superimposed holding frames, each carrying slabs of the same size, the slabs from one frame to another being able to have the same or different dimensions. The slabs are rigid and non-deformable. The means of movement may be either manual or motorized. In order to avoid any ambiguity, it is assumed that the total surface area of a holding frame would be entirely covered by n slabs. By placing only n-1 slabs in said holding frame, a square opening is then created in it having the dimensions of the missing slab.

[0009] According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the holding frame extends in a horizontal plane and the slabs are placed in said holding frame by all extending in the same horizontal plane, the movement of the slabs within the holding frame taking place in said horizontal plane. In this way, the movement of the slabs is completely included in the holding frame and it is therefore not necessary to provide large clearance spaces to ensure this movement.

[0010] According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the slabs have peripheral sliding means capable of cooperating with complementary and peripheral sliding means of neighboring slabs and complementary sliding means of the segments of the holding frame. Preferably, there is an interpenetration between the sliding means of one slab and the complementary sliding means of the other slabs and / or of the holding frame, allowing each slab to be held in position within the frame. The slabs present in the same holding frame cooperate together in order to be held in said frame without the aid of an external element.

[0011] According to a possible characteristic of the invention, each slab is extended by at least three retaining walls originating on said slab and extending perpendicularly thereto, said retaining walls in combination with a retaining wall of a neighboring slab or with a segment of the frame delimiting a closed space in which the package is placed. It is important that the packages which are loaded on the slabs cannot slide on them, when leaving them, under penalty of seeing certain packages of the same holding frame mix together. The presence of these retaining walls is particularly required in the case where the storage system is on board a utility vehicle. Indeed, with each slightly sharp acceleration or each slightly sudden braking phase, the packages are likely to move and therefore mix together in said vehicle.

[0012] According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the displacement means com take a first arm parallel to the two short sides of the holding frame and capable of sliding along the two long sides of the holding frame, and a second arm parallel to the two long sides of the holding frame and capable of sliding along the two short sides of the holding frame, a carriage housing an electromagnet being mounted to slide along said first arm and along said second arm while being placed in an area of intersection of said two arms, each slab having an electromagnet capable of cooperating with the electromagnet of the carriage so that the movement of said carriage along at least one of said arms causes a movement in the same direction and with the same amplitude of the slab in question. Thus, the carriage housing the electromagnet can scan the entire surface of the holding frame. The electromagnet of the carriage, which is mounted to slide along the two arms, will attract the electromagnet of a clearly identified slab located to the right of said carriage. Once this attraction between the two electromagnets has been established, a movement of this carriage along said arms will cause a movement of the corresponding slab in the same direction and with the same amplitude.

[0013] According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the movement means are motorized. In this way, the movement of the slabs within the holding frame is perfectly controlled and is perfectly reproducible and reliable.

[0014] According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the storage system comprises at least two rectangular holding frames superimposed and each extending in a horizontal plane, each holding frame comprising n-1 square and flat slabs, placed in the same plane, while the total surface of each holding frame would be completely covered by n slabs, means for moving the slabs being associated with each of said holding frames. All the slabs of the same holding frame have identical dimensions, the dimensions of the slabs of one frame being able to be identical or different from those of the slabs of the other holding frame.

[0015] According to a possible characteristic of the invention, all the slabs of the same holding frame are identical, the slabs being able to be identical or different from one holding frame to another. In this way, in the event that the slabs are different from one holding frame to another, the storage system can support packages of different sizes.

[0016] According to a possible characteristic of the invention, the external envelope is rigid and robust, and includes an access hatch, the common arrival location for each holding frame being accessible through the access hatch without the other slabs of the storage system being accessible. In this way, a customer coming to collect his parcel with a specific access code, to access his parcel without being able to access the other parcels. Similarly, if a delivery driver had just collected the parcel to be delivered, a malicious individual could not have access to the other parcels.

[0017] Another subject of the invention is a method for delivering parcels by means of a storage system according to the invention, said storage system being on board a vehicle.

[0018] According to the invention, the method comprises the following steps: - A step of placing the vehicle in loading mode on a vehicle interface, - A step of placing the packages on the different slabs presented to the delivery driver, each slab which is loaded with a package being erased in the holding frame to make way for a blank slab which will itself be loaded, and so on, - a step of pairing each package with a given slab via an RFID type recognition system, -A step of sending delivery addresses to a GPS tool which will itself select the most suitable route, - A step of sending an alert to the customer to inform them of the expected delivery time, -A selection step, then movement of the slab carrying the package to be delivered to the final common location, - A step of removing the package through an access hatch in the external envelope allowing access only to the final common location of the slab, -A step of delivery of the package to the customer.

[0019] Such a delivery method has the advantage of being fully automated, thus eliminating the risk of delivery errors and thus saving time. In addition, it has the advantage of being secure because it does not allow a malicious person to have access to the other packages stored in the vehicle, in the event of a temporary absence of the delivery driver delivering a package to a customer.

[0020] A detailed description of a preferred embodiment of a parcel storage system according to the invention is given below, with reference to the following figures:

[0030] [Fig.10] [Fig.10] is a front view of the rear facade of the vehicle of [Fig.l].

[0031] A parcel storage system 1 according to the invention may, for example, consist of a parcel distribution device, which would be self-service and which would be accessible by a customer who had ordered a parcel. This customer could identify himself with a personal code which would have been transmitted to him by the delivery organization in charge of his parcel, and which would only be valid for a given period. By entering his code in the device, he would then have direct access to his parcel without having access to the other parcels stored in the device. Such a storage system 1 could also be embedded in a delivery utility vehicle, and would then be managed by a delivery driver who would be responsible for delivering the parcels to the homes of clearly identified customers.

[0032] The detailed description which follows is carried out assuming that the parcel storage system 1 according to the invention is on board a utility delivery vehicle 2.

[0033] Referring to Figures 1 and 10, the utility delivery vehicle 2 schematically comprises a front passenger compartment 3 which may include two or three seats aligned along a transverse axis Y of the vehicle and a rear storage space 4 placed just behind the front passenger compartment 3. This storage space 4 is placed in the continuity of the front passenger compartment 3, and is accessible by a sliding side door extending in a longitudinal and vertical plane XZ of the vehicle and / or by a rear door 5 extending in a transverse and vertical plane YZ of said vehicle. The sliding side door and the rear door 5 each have a lock and can therefore be locked so as to prevent anyone, with the exception of the delivery driver, from having access to the contents of the storage space 4. The rear door 5 may for example be mounted so as to be able to rotate about a vertical axis located in one of the two sides of the vehicle body.

[0034] Referring to [Fig. 10], the rear door 5 comprises an access hatch 6 of smaller size than said access door and provided with a lock. The access hatch 6 is mounted to rotate on the rear door 5 between a closed position in which it is in continuity with said rear door, and an open position in which it extends towards the rear of the vehicle and allows access to a particular area of the storage space 4 of said vehicle. Only the delivery driver and possibly actually his employer, holds the key to access hatch 6.

[0035] Referring to Figures 1 and 2, a storage system 1 according to the invention comprises a storage structure comprising a frame 7 made up of different horizontal and vertical bars, and three holding frames 8, 9, 10 supported by the bars of said frame 7.

[0036] Referring to [Fig. 2], 3 and 6, each holding frame 8, 9, 10 is rectangular in shape, and therefore has two large parallel rectilinear segments 11, 12, and two small parallel rectilinear segments 13, 14, said large segments 11, 12 being perpendicular to said small segments 13, 14. Each of these segments 11, 12, 13, 14 is flat and thin, and is arranged in the vehicle 2 so as to extend in a vertical plane, the two large segments 11, 12 extending in a longitudinal and vertical plane XZ of the vehicle, and the two small segments 13, 14 extending in a transverse and vertical plane YZ of the vehicle.

[0037] Referring to [Fig. 6], the four segments 11, 12, 13, 14 each have an inner surface from which a sliding strip 15 emerges, said sliding strip 15 extending over the entire length of said inner surface. The inner surfaces of the two large segments 11, 12 face each other and the inner surfaces of the two small segments 13, 14 also face each other. The sliding strips of the four segments 11, 12, 13, 14 of the holding frame 8, 9, 10 extend towards the inside of said holding frame 11, 12, 13, 14.

[0038] Referring to Figures 1 and 2, the three holding frames 8, 9, 10 are superimposed and parallel, and each extend in a horizontal plane. Each of these holding frames 8, 9, 10 is occupied by a plurality of solid slabs 16, having a square outline and being of small thickness, preferably less than 5 cm. These slabs 16 are rectilinear, and each frame 8, 9, 10 contains slabs 16 of the same size, the dimensions of said slabs 16 being able to vary from one holding frame 8, 9, 10 to another. Each of these slabs 16 is intended to carry only one package 100, or several smaller packages intended for the same customer. The slabs 16 are mounted in a holding frame 8, 9, 10 so as to come into contact with each other and to extend in the same plane. Thus, some slabs 16 of the same holding frame 8, 9, 10 are surrounded only by other slabs 16, other slabs 16 can come into contact with a single segment 11, 12, 13, 14 of said holding frame 8, 9, 10 and some other slabs 16, those which are placed in the corners, can come into contact with two consecutive segments 11, 12, 13, 14 of this holding frame 8, 9, 10. If each holding frame 8, 9, 10 is capable of receiving at most n square slabs 16 covering the entire surface of said holding frame 8, 9, 10, only n-1 slabs 16 are mounted in said frame 8, 9, 10. In this way, each holding frame 8, 9, 10 is provided with an opening 17 having the dimensions of slab 16. missing. Within the same holding frame 8, 9, 10, thanks to the presence of this opening 17, the slabs 16 are movable in translation along the other slabs 16 and along the segments 11, 12, 13, 14 of said holding frame 8, 9, 10. The movement of the slabs 16 in the holding frame 8, 9, 10 of a storage system according to the invention, takes up the principle of the game of teaser, for which the movement of pellets in a rectangular frame for the purpose, for example, of reconstituting a series of numbers, is carried out step by step by moving the pellets against each other, thanks to an opening created in the frame and having the dimensions of a pellet.

[0039] Referring to Figures 7 and 8, each slab 16 has a sliding heel 18 in the form of an extension of material consisting of two flat sections 19, 20 arranged at 90° to each other and in continuity with each other. In other words, this extension of material has an L shape. This extension of material extends two consecutive edges of the slab 16, while the other two consecutive edges of said slab 16 each have a rectilinear slot 21 extending over their entire length, said two slots 21 being arranged relative to each other while being perpendicular. To summarize, each slab 16 comprises a male part constituted by the L-shaped extension of material, and a female part constituted by the two perpendicular slots 21. Inside the same holding frame 8, 9, 10, at least one extension section 19, 20 of a slab 16 is inserted into a slot 21 of a neighboring slab 16, and the slots 21 of certain other slabs 16 are occupied by a sliding strip 15 of the holding frame 8, 9, 10.

[0040] Referring to [Fig. 3], any slab 16 of a given holding frame 8, 9, 10 can thus be conveyed to a precise location of said frame 8, 9, 10 by being moved in translation along the other neighboring slabs 16 or against a segment 11, 12, 13, 14 of said holding frame 8, 9, 10, after said neighboring slabs 16 have themselves been moved in translation along other neighboring slabs 16 or against a segment 11, 12, 13, 14 of the holding frame 8, 9, 10, etc. In this way, the selected slab 16 carrying the package to be delivered will move from one place to another in the holding frame 8, 9, 10 after neighboring slabs 16 have themselves been moved against neighboring slabs, etc.

[0041] Referring to Figures 3, 4 and 5, each slab 16 comprises a lower face 22 and an upper face 23 parallel to each other and each extending in a horizontal plane, said upper face 23 being placed above the lower face 22. The lower face 22 comprises an electromagnet 24 of cylindrical shape and four stops 25, 26, 27, 28 with carrying balls, said electromagnet 24 being placed in the center of the lower face 22 and the four stops 25, 26, 27, 28 being distributed at the four corners of said lower face 22.

[0042] Referring to [Fig.9], each slab 16 comprises three walls 29, 30, 31 of retaining the package 100, originating on the upper face 23 of the slab 16 and extending vertically, being perpendicular to said upper face 23. These three retaining walls 29, 30, 31 comprise two parallel walls 29, 30 and a connecting wall 31 joining said two parallel walls 29, 30 while being perpendicular to them. Each slab 16 is placed on a support slab 32 having openings for receiving the four bearing ball thrust bearings and the electromagnet.

[0043] Referring to Figures 3, 4 and 5, means for moving the slabs 16 are associated with each holding frame 8, 9, 10 to convey a selected slab 16 of the relevant holding frame 8, 9, 10, from its initial location to a final location common to all the slabs 16 of the holding frame 8, 9, 10. Schematically, the moving means comprise a first arm 33 parallel to the two small segments 13, 14 of the holding frame 8, 9, 10 and capable of sliding along the two large segments 11, 12 of the holding frame 8, 9, 10, and a second parallel arm 34 parallel to the two large segments 11, 12 of the holding frame 8, 9, 10 and capable of sliding along the two small segments 13, 14 of the holding frame 8, 9, 10.The moving means also comprise a carriage 35 housing an electromagnet 36 and mounted to slide along said first arm 33 and along said second arm 34 while being placed in an intersection zone of said two arms 33, 34. In this way, the electromagnet 36 placed in the carriage 35 is capable of scanning the entire surface of the holding frame 8, 9, 10 in question. The electromagnet 36 of the carriage 35 is intended to cooperate with the electromagnet 24 of a selected slab 16, so as to be able to move said selected slab 16. Indeed, an attraction phenomenon will take place between the electromagnet 36 of the carriage 35 and the electromagnet 24 of the selected slab 16, the movement of the electromagnet 36 of the carriage 35 causing a movement of the selected slab 16 in the same direction and with the same amplitude.

[0044] Referring to Figures 4 and 5, two worm screws 37, 38 extend parallel to the small segments 13, 14 of the holding frame 8, 9, 10 while being placed next to them. Each of these worm screws 37, 38 is associated with an electric motor 39, 40, the triggering of which causes said worm screw 37, 38 to rotate around its axis of revolution. Similarly, two worm screws 41, 42 extend parallel to the large segments 11, 12 of the holding frame 8, 9, 10 while being placed next to them. Each of these worm screws 41, 42 is associated with an electric motor 43, 44, the triggering of which causes said worm screw 41, 42 to rotate around its axis of revolution. The first arm 33 ends at each of its two ends with a rail guide 45, 46 and a worm nut mounted on a worm screw 41, 42 parallel to the large segments 11, 12 of the holding frame 8, 9, 10.Likewise, the second arm 34 ends at each of its two ends with a rail guide 47, 48 and a screw nut. endless mounted on a worm screw 37, 38 parallel to the small segments 13, 14 of the holding frame 8, 9, 10. When the two motors 39, 40, 43, 44 of two parallel worm screws 37, 38, 41, 42 are triggered, said worm screws 37, 38, 41, 42 will start to rotate, causing a translation of the two rail guides 45, 46, 47, 48 terminating the first arm 33 or the second arm 34 along said worm screws 37, 38, 41, 42, and therefore a translation of said first arm 33 and / or said second arm 34.

[0045] A method for delivering parcels from a storage system 1 according to the invention comprises the following steps: -A step of placing vehicle 2 in loading mode on a vehicle interface, -A step of depositing the packages 100 on the different slabs 16 of the holding frames 8, 9, 10 presented to the delivery driver, each slab 16 which is loaded with a package being moved into the holding frame to make way for a blank slab which will itself be loaded, and so on, - a step of pairing each package 100 with a given slab 16 via an RFID type recognition system, -A step of sending delivery addresses to a GPS tool which will itself select the most suitable route, - A step of sending an alert to the customer to inform them of the precise time planned for the delivery of their package 100, -A step of selecting, then moving the slab 16 carrying the package 100 to be delivered to a common final location situated in the holding frame 8, 9, 10 considered, said movement being caused by the electromagnet 36 of the carriage 35 interacting with the electromagnet 24 of the different slabs 16 involved in the movement of the selected slab 16. The means for moving the slabs 16 of the same holding frame 8, 9, 10 are programmed to convey any slab 16 of said holding frame 8, 9, 10 to a precise and common location of this holding frame 8, 9, 10. - A step of withdrawal of the package 100 by the delivery driver by means of opening the access hatch 6 of the rear door 5 allowing access only to the selected slab 16 carrying the package 100, -A step of delivery of package 100 to the customer.
