Description

Title of the invention: Method for coating and decorating at least one structural support of an interior part of a vehicle and associated decorated interior part

[0001] The present invention relates to the field of methods for coating and decorating at least one structural support of an interior part of a vehicle, in particular a motor vehicle, and the field of decorated interior parts of vehicles.

[0002] It is known to locally apply patterns, logos, stylistic figures or the like to interior parts of vehicles by an inkjet printing process. The interior parts of vehicles may for example be a dashboard, a door panel, a central console, etc. Publication FR3033506A1 discloses a method for providing a resistant textured surface obtained by implementing a method similar to that of droplet projection printing, more commonly referred to as inkjet printing.

[0003] The present invention further relates to the cladding of interior parts of motor vehicles using natural materials such as stone, wood, etc.

[0004] Publication FR3096301A1 discloses a method for covering interior parts of vehicles with a thin layer of natural material. This natural material may be in the form of an inorganic material such as stone, glass or ceramic or an organic material such as wood. This method consists of covering the interior part of the vehicle by coating it with an optional adhesion layer on which a support layer of the thin layer of natural material is applied, then said thin layer of natural material itself. A transparent water-based polyurethane adhesion primer layer is applied to said thin layer of natural material before covering the whole with at least one transparent protective surface layer, in particular one or more transparent surface layers of varnish. However, this method does not allow patterns to be created to decorate the interior part.

[0005] The present invention aims to overcome at least one of these drawbacks and to propose a solution making it possible to coat and decorate a structural support of an interior part of a vehicle intended to be coated in particular with a layer of natural material.

[0006] To this end, the invention relates to a method for coating and decorating at least one structural support of a preferably three-dimensional vehicle interior part. ional, in particular of a motor vehicle, comprising at least:

[0007] - a step of applying a layer of natural material, during which a layer of natural material is applied over or on at least one surface of the structural support of the interior part,

[0008] - a step of applying a bonding surface layer, during which a a bonding surface layer, preferably transparent and water-based, is applied to all or part of the first upper surface of the layer of natural material to cover it in whole or in part,

[0009] - where appropriate optionally a step of applying a surface layer of lower protection, in which a lower protective surface layer, preferably transparent or semi-transparent, is applied to all or part of the second upper surface of the bonding surface layer to cover it in whole or in part,

[0010] - a step of applying an upper protective surface layer, during in which an upper protective surface layer, preferably transparent or semi-transparent, is applied to all or part of the second upper surface of the bonding surface layer to cover it in whole or in part or, where appropriate, to all or part of the third upper surface of the lower protective surface layer to cover it in whole or in part,

[0011] the coating and decoration process is characterized in that it further comprises:

[0012] - a step of printing at least one pattern, during which at least one pattern is printed locally, preferably by inkjet printing, on at least a surface portion of one of said layers among the natural material layer, the bonding surface layer, the lower protective surface layer, the upper protective surface layer.

[0013] The invention also relates to a decorated interior part of a vehicle, preferably three-dimensional, in particular a motor vehicle, characterized in that it is obtained by implementing the method according to the invention.

[0014] The invention also relates to a vehicle, preferably a motor vehicle, characterized in that it comprises said at least one interior part decorated according to the invention.

[0015] The invention will be better understood from the following description, which relates to several preferred embodiments, given as non-limiting examples, and explained with reference to the appended schematic drawings, in which:

[0016] [Fig-1] [Fig.l] represents a sectional view of an interior room decorated according to the invention obtained by the method of the invention according to a possibility of a first variant embodiment,

[0017] [Fig.2] [Fig.2] represents a sectional view of the interior room decorated according to the invention obtained by the method of the invention according to a possibility of a second variant embodiment,

[0018] [Fig.3] [Fig.3] represents a sectional view of the interior room decorated according to the invention obtained by the method of the invention according to a possibility of a third variant embodiment, and

[0019] [Fig.4] [Fig.4] represents a top view of the interior room decorated according to the invention.

[0020] The invention relates to a method for coating and decorating at least one structural support 1 of an interior part of a vehicle, preferably three-dimensional, in particular a motor vehicle, comprising at least:

[0021] - a step of applying a layer of natural material, during which a layer of natural material 2 is applied above or on at least one surface S of the structural support 1 of the interior part,

[0022] - a step of applying a bonding surface layer, during which a bonding surface layer 3, preferably transparent and water-based, is applied to all or part of the first upper surface SI of the natural material layer 2 to cover it in whole or in part,

[0023] - where appropriate optionally a step of applying a surface layer of lower protection, in which a lower protective surface layer 4, preferably transparent or semi-transparent, is applied to all or part of the second upper surface S2 of the bonding surface layer 3 to cover it in whole or in part,

[0024] - a step of applying a top protective surface layer, during in which an upper protective surface layer 5, preferably transparent or semi-transparent, is applied to all or part of the second upper surface S2 of the bonding surface layer 3 to cover it in whole or in part or, where appropriate, to all or part of the third upper surface S3 of the lower protective surface layer 4 to cover it in whole or in part,

[0025] the coating and decoration process is characterized in that it further comprises:

[0026] - a step of printing at least one pattern, during which at least one pattern 6 is printed locally preferably by inkjet printing on at least one surface portion SMI, SM2, SM3 of one of said layers among the natural material layer 2, the adhesion surface layer 3, the lower protective surface layer 4, the upper protective surface layer 5.

[0027] Advantageously, the present invention makes it possible to locally decorate, with at least one pattern 6 applied by inkjet printing, the structural support 1 of the vehicle interior part which has the particularity of being coated above or on said at least one surface S with a layer of natural material 2, that is to say that the layer of natural material 2 is applied either to at least one intermediate support (not shown), which is optional, arranged on the surface S of the structural support 1 of the interior part, or directly on the surface S of the structural support 1 of the interior part. Thanks to the invention, it is possible, by playing on the positioning of said at least one pattern 6 relative to the stack of the different constituent layers, namely among the layer of natural material 2, the adhesion surface layer 3, the lower protective surface layer 4, the upper protective surface layer 5, to obtain different aesthetic renderings. Before implementing the method according to the invention, the interior part corresponds to the structural support 1.At the end of the implementation of the method according to the invention, the interior part decorated according to the invention and which is described below is advantageously obtained.

[0028] Preferably, during said step of printing at least one pattern, said at least one pattern 6 is printed locally, preferably by inkjet printing, on at least one surface portion SMI of the fourth upper surface S4 of said one upper protective surface layer 5 successively to said step of applying at least one upper protective surface layer, or on at least one surface portion SM2 of the first upper surface SI of the layer of natural material 2 successively to said step of applying a layer of natural material and prior to said step of applying a bonding surface layer,or on at least one surface portion of the second upper surface S2 of the bonding surface layer 3 successively to said step of applying a bonding surface layer and prior, if applicable, to said step of applying a lower protective surface layer or to said step of applying an upper protective surface layer, or on at least one surface portion SM3 of the third upper surface S3 of said lower protective surface layer 4 successively to said step of applying a lower protective surface layer and prior to said step of applying an upper protective surface layer.

[0029] Advantageously, the pattern 6 can be printed before or after the steps of applying surface layers, namely: the step of applying a bonding surface layer, where appropriate the step of applying a lower protective surface layer and the step of applying an upper protective surface layer, or between some of these steps of applying surface layers. The pattern 6 extends only over a surface portion SMI, SM2, SM3 respectively of the fourth upper surface S4 of said surface layer of upper protection 5 or of the first upper surface SI of the natural material layer 2 or of the second upper surface S2 of the grip surface layer 3 or of the third upper surface S3 of the lower protection surface layer 4 and not on the entire fourth, first, second, third upper surface S4, SI, S2, S3, which makes it possible to create with said at least one pattern 6 a localized decoration. On the contrary, the layer of natural material 2, the bonding surface layer 3, the lower protective surface layer 4, the upper protective surface layer 5 are not deposited locally but globally above the entire surface S of the structural support 1 of the interior part, so that said at least one pattern 6 is located either above the stack of layers 2, 3, 4, 5 or is embedded in the bonding surface layer 3 or in the lower protective surface layer 4 or in the upper protective surface layer 5. Thanks to the invention, it is possible to obtain more or less nuanced contrasts, more or less sharp and precise edges of the pattern 6, depth effects or three-dimensional effects.

[0030] According to a first variant embodiment illustrated according to one possibility in [Fig.l], said step of applying a layer of natural material is carried out, then successively said step of applying a bonding layer during which the bonding surface layer 3 is applied to the entire first upper surface S1 of the layer of natural material 2, then successively optionally said step of applying a lower protective surface layer during which the lower protective surface layer 4 is applied to the entire second upper surface S2 of the bonding surface layer 3,then successively said step of applying an upper protective surface layer during which the upper protective surface layer 5 is applied to the entire second upper surface S2 of the bonding surface layer 3 or where appropriate to the entire third upper surface S3 of the lower protective surface layer 4, then successively said step of printing at least one pattern.

[0031] Advantageously, the first embodiment variant makes it possible to obtain a decorated interior part which comprises said at least one printed pattern 6 which is visible on the surface and has the particularity of being shiny due to the visual characteristics of the inks deposited during the step of printing at least one pattern. The remainder of the layer of natural material 2 which is not covered by said at least one pattern 6 is contrasting and matt which enhances said at least one pattern 6 provided by the printing.

[0032] In the particular example of [Fig.l], said step of applying a lower protective surface layer is not optional and therefore during said step of applying an upper protective surface layer, the surface layer of upper protection 5 is applied over the entire upper third surface S3 of the lower protective surface layer 4.

[0033] On the contrary, if said step of applying a lower protective surface layer is not carried out, then during said step of applying an upper protective surface layer, the upper protective surface layer 5 is applied to the entire second upper surface S2 of the bonding surface layer 3.

[0034] According to a second variant embodiment illustrated according to one possibility in [Fig. 2], said step of applying a layer of natural material is carried out, then successively said step of printing at least one pattern, then successively said step of applying a bonding layer during which the bonding surface layer 3 is applied to the entirety of an uncoated part of the first upper surface S1 of the layer of natural material 2 and to the fifth upper surface S5 of the pattern 6, then optionally successively said step of applying a lower protective surface layer during which the lower protective surface layer 4 is applied to the entirety of the second upper surface S2 of the bonding surface layer 3,then successively said step of applying an upper protective surface layer during which the upper protective surface layer 5 is applied to the entire second upper surface S2 of the bonding surface layer 3 or where appropriate to the entire third upper surface S3 of the lower protective surface layer 4.,

[0035] Advantageously, the second embodiment variant makes it possible to obtain a decorated interior part which comprises said at least one pattern 6 which is visible with matt contrasts, as is the case for the rest of the layer of natural material 2 which is not covered by said at least one pattern 6. This is justified by the fact that said at least one pattern 6 deposited during the step of printing at least one pattern is encapsulated in the different layers provided following the step of printing at least one pattern during this process, namely the bonding surface layer 3, where appropriate the lower protective surface layer 4 and the upper protective surface layer 5.It will be noted that the lower protective surface layer 4 which preferably comprises glitter and / or particles if present is located above the stack of the natural material layer 2, said at least one pattern 6 and the adhesion surface layer 3.

[0036] In the particular example of [Fig.2], said step of applying a lower protective surface layer is not optional and therefore during said step of applying an upper protective surface layer the upper protective surface layer 5 is applied over the entire third upper surface S3 of the lower protective surface layer 4.

[0037] On the contrary, if said step of applying a lower protective surface layer is not carried out, then during said step of applying an upper protective surface layer, the upper protective surface layer 5 is applied over the entire second upper surface S2 of the bonding surface layer 3.

[0038] According to a variant embodiment not illustrated, said step of applying a layer of natural material is carried out, then successively said step of applying a bonding layer during which the bonding surface layer 3 is applied to the entire first upper surface S1 of the layer of natural material 2, then successively said step of printing at least one pattern, then optionally successively said step of applying a lower protective surface layer during which the lower protective surface layer 4 is applied to the entirety of an uncoated portion of the second upper surface S2 of the bonding surface layer 3 and to the fifth upper surface S5 of the pattern 6,then successively said step of applying an upper protective surface layer during which the upper protective surface layer 5 is applied to the entirety of an uncoated part of the second upper surface S2 of the bonding surface layer 3 and to the fifth upper surface S5 of the pattern 6 or where appropriate to the entirety of the third upper surface S3 of the lower protective surface layer 4.,

[0039] Advantageously, this non-illustrated embodiment variant makes it possible to obtain a decorated interior part which comprises said at least one pattern 6 which is visible with matt contrasts, as is the case for the rest of the layer of natural material 2 which is not covered by said at least one pattern 6. This is justified by the fact that said at least one pattern 6 deposited during the step of printing at least one pattern is encapsulated in the different layers provided following the step of printing at least one pattern during this process, namely where appropriate the lower protective surface layer 4 and the upper protective surface layer 5. It will be noted that the lower protective surface layer 4 which preferably comprises glitter and / or particles if it is present is located above the stack of the layer of natural material 2, the bonding surface layer 3 and said at least one pattern 6.The difference between this embodiment variant and the second embodiment variant illustrated in [Fig. 2] lies in the contrast of said at least one pattern 6 which is not affected by the deposition of the bonding surface layer 3, which has the particularity of darkening the lower layers, i.e. located below the bonding surface layer 3 and therefore in this case only the layer of natural material 2.

[0040] If said step of applying a lower protective surface layer is not not optional then during said step of applying an upper protective surface layer, the upper protective surface layer 5 is applied over the entire third upper surface S3 of the lower protective surface layer 4.

[0041] On the contrary, if said step of applying a lower protective surface layer is not carried out, then during said step of applying an upper protective surface layer, the upper protective surface layer 5 is applied to the entirety of an uncoated portion of the second upper surface S2 of the bonding surface layer 3 and to the fifth upper surface S5 of the pattern 6.

[0042] According to a third variant embodiment illustrated according to one possibility in [Fig.3], said step of applying a layer of natural material is carried out, then successively said step of applying a bonding surface layer during which the bonding surface layer 3 is applied to the entire first upper surface S1 of the layer of natural material 2, then successively said step of applying a lower protective surface layer during which the lower protective surface layer 4 is applied to the entire second upper surface S2 of the bonding surface layer 3, then successively said step of printing at least one pattern, then successively said step of applying an upper protective surface layer during which the upper protective surface layer 5 is applied to the entirety of an uncoated portion of the third upper surface S3 of the lower protective surface layer 4 and to the fifth upper surface S5 of the pattern 6.

[0043] Advantageously, the third embodiment variant makes it possible to obtain a decorated interior part which comprises said at least one pattern 6 which is visible with matt contrasts, as is the case for the rest of the layer of natural material 2 which is not covered by said at least one pattern 6. This is justified by the fact that said at least one pattern 6 deposited during the step of printing at least one pattern is encapsulated in the layer provided following the step of printing at least one pattern during this method, namely the upper protective surface layer 5. It will be noted that the lower protective surface layer 4, which preferably comprises glitter and / or particles, is located above the stack of the layer of natural material 2, of the bonding surface layer 3 but not above said at least one pattern 6.A desired difference in appearance is advantageously obtained between the layer of natural material 2 and said at least one pattern 6.

[0044] Preferably, said step of applying a bonding surface layer, optionally said step of applying a lower protective surface layer and said step of applying an upper protective surface layer are carried out by spraying, preferably using a gun.

[0045] Preferably, the method comprises said step of applying a lower protective surface layer and during said step of applying a lower protective surface layer, said applied lower protective surface layer 4 comprises a polyurethane base varnish with or without the addition of particles and / or flakes.

[0046] Preferably, during said step of applying an upper protective surface layer, said applied upper protective surface layer 5 comprises a polyurethane-based varnish, preferably not containing particles and / or flakes.

[0047] Preferably, during said step of printing at least one pattern, the application of the inkjet can be done using a six-axis robot. Furthermore, during said step of printing at least one pattern, the structural support 1 of the interior part is preferably moved in front of printing and drying heads.

[0048] Preferably, during said step of printing at least one pattern, the six-axis robot which moves the structural support 1 of the interior part in the space in front of the effectors (print heads, drying) adapts the movement speeds, or ink jet speeds according to the geometry of the structural support 1 of the interior part as according to publication FR3033506A1 or publication FR3080998A1.

[0049] Preferably in another variant not shown according to the invention, the method further comprises a step of preparing the layer of natural material which is prior to the step of applying a layer of natural material, during which at least one intermediate support (not shown) is applied to the lower surface of the layer of natural material 2 which is opposite the first upper surface SI.

[0050] During the step of preparing the natural material layer, the natural material layer 2 is assembled or laminated or glued with the intermediate support.

[0051] Then, during said step of applying a layer of natural material, the assembly formed by the intermediate support and the layer of natural material 2 is applied to the surface S of the structural support 1 of the interior part with the free surface of the intermediate support resting on the surface S of the structural support 1 of the interior part.

[0052] Consequently in this case, during said step of applying a layer of natural material, the layer of natural material 2 is applied above at least one surface S of the structural support 1 of the interior part, that is to say in this example not illustrated by being positioned on the intermediate support (not shown) and not directly on said at least one surface S of the structural support 1 of the interior part, as is the case in the examples illustrated in the figures.

[0053] Advantageously, this step of preparing the layer of natural material can be essential if the layer of natural material 2 is translucent.

[0054] For example, during the step of preparing the layer of natural material, at least one translucent intermediate support (not shown) is applied to the lower surface of the layer of translucent natural material 2 which is opposite the first upper surface SI.

[0055] The invention also relates to a decorated interior part of a vehicle, preferably three-dimensional, in particular a motor vehicle, characterized in that it is obtained by implementing the method according to the invention described above.

[0056] Preferably, the decorated interior room comprises at least:
