Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Temporary closing device Technical field of the invention
[0001] The present invention relates to a device for temporarily closing an element opening on a support element.
[0002] The invention relates more particularly to a device for temporarily closing a door or a movable element of a motor vehicle, for example a tailgate or a hood, on the bodywork of said vehicle. Technical background
[0003] As is known, in the automotive field, the four main stages of manufacturing a vehicle consist of stamping, assembly of the sheet metal, application of paint and final assembly.
[0004] During the application of the paint, tools, intended to hold the openings in position during painting, are installed on the chassis of the vehicle, then are removed after painting.
[0005] Among these tools, the temporary closing devices for the vehicle doors are mounted on the chassis in order to hold the doors in position and prevent them from opening during the application of the paint. These devices can be mounted during the sheet metal assembly stage or at the beginning of the painting application stage.
[0006] Generally speaking, existing temporary closing devices comprise a fixing plate intended to be fixed to a support element and a body attached to the fixing plate and forming a stop capable of serving as a support for the opening element.
[0007] In the example of a vehicle door, the supporting element is the chassis frame and the opening element is the vehicle door. In this case, the temporary closing device is arranged at the level where the strike plate of the lock installed later during assembly in the assembly workshop will be located.
[0008] In order to be able to be fixed to the vehicle chassis, the fixing plate can be provided with bores which are aligned with bores in the support element. In this way, the fixing plate can be screwed to the support element, by means of screws inserted into the bores in said plate.
[0009] Consequently, the assembly and disassembly of such a temporary closing device requires a screwing step, which requires labor time and results in significant assembly time and cost for each vehicle.
[0010] To be fixed on the chassis of the vehicle, the temporary closing device can also include hooking members intended to be housed in the bores of the support element and locked in position by means of a lock.
[0011] Patent FR310463 IB 1 is known in particular as the prior art closest to the present application.
[0012] However, the installation of such a temporary closing device on the support element requires several manipulations on the part of an operator in order to correctly position the lock in a position for blocking the device.
[0013] The invention therefore proposes to solve the aforementioned problems by proposing a temporary closing device whose installation on a support element is carried out quickly and with the least handling for an operator, in particular by its automatic locking in position on the support element. Summary of the invention
[0014] The invention proposes a device for temporarily closing an element opening on a support element, said support element comprising: - a wall; - a first bore and a second bore passing through said wall, said second bore having a first edge and a second edge facing the first edge; the device comprising: - a stop body comprising means for blocking the opening element; and - a fixing plate comprising: o a base comprising a horizontal main plane intended to rest on the wall; o a first hooking member intended to be engaged in the first bore of the support element; and o a second attachment member intended to be inserted into the second bore of the support element, said second attachment member being aligned with the first attachment member along a horizontal longitudinal axis of the device; the temporary closing device comprising a lock comprising at least one stop member, said lock being connected to the base by an elastic hinge with spring effect along a hinge axis parallel to the longitudinal axis, and being movable in rotation relative to the base between: o a locked rest position in which the stop member is leaning against the second hooking member so as to form a block comprising a first face formed on the second hooking member and a second face formed on the stop member, the faces being opposite each other along the longitudinal axis and the first face being intended to bear against the first edge of the second bore and the second face being intended to bear against the second edge of the second bore in a position for locking the device on the support, and o an unlocked stressed position in which the stop member is offset relative to the second hooking element along a vertical axis of the device, the device being characterized in that the stop member comprises a contact face which is capable of cooperating with said second edge and which, in the locked rest position of the lock: - extends in a plane which is inclined relative to the longitudinal axis and relative to the vertical axis of the device; - and extends between the second face and a leading edge of the stop member, so that, when the second hooking member is inserted into the second bore, together with the action of the elastic hinge and its spring effect, the contact face causes an automatic movement of the lock towards its locked rest position to automatically block the device on the support element.
[0015] According to other characteristics of the invention: - the leading edge of the stop member extends in a plane inclined relative to said main plane of the base and so that the inclination of the leading edge evolves in an increasing manner as it moves away from the hinge axis; - the second attachment member comprises a beveled wall which extends between the first face and a free end edge; - the contact face of the stop member extends longitudinally opposite the second attachment member; - the contact face of the stop member extends in a plane inclined relative to a longitudinal and transverse plane of the device and in such a way that a longitudinal dimension of the stop member evolves in an increasing manner from its leading edge towards its second face.
[0016] The invention also provides a method for mounting a temporary closure device according to the invention on a support element, characterized in that it comprises the following steps: - an insertion step during which the first attachment member is inserted into the first bore and in such a way that the second attachment member is arranged opposite the second bore; - a pivoting step during which the device is pivoted about a transverse axis such that the leading edge of the stop member comes into contact with the second edge of the second bore and the second latching member passes through the second bore, positioning the lock in its unlocked stressed position; - an automatic locking step during which the elastic hinge and the shape beveled contact face of the stop member automatically moves the device in translation along the longitudinal axis so that the lock moves into its locked rest position, automatically locking the device on the support element.
[0017] According to this method, during the locking step, the contact face of the stop member slides along the second edge of the second bore so as to move the lock from its unlocked stressed position to its locked rest position.

[0033] For the description of the invention and the understanding of the claims, the vertical, longitudinal and transverse orientations according to the reference V, L, T indicated in the figures, the longitudinal L and transverse T axes of which extend in a horizontal plane, will be adopted as a non-limiting example and without limiting reference to Earth's gravity.
[0034] In the following description, identical, similar or analogous elements will be designated by the same reference numbers.
[0035] [Fig. 1] illustrates a device 10 for temporarily closing an opening element 12, visible in [Fig. 13], on a support element 14.
[0036] In this embodiment, the temporary closing device 10 is made of a single-piece molded plastic material, while the opening element 12 is a door of a motor vehicle and the support element 14 is a frame of the vehicle chassis.
[0037] The support element 14 shown in [Fig.l], comprises a wall 16 having an outer face 16a and an inner face opposite the outer face.
[0038] The support element 14 comprises in particular a first bore 18 and a second bore 20 aligned along a direction F of opening and closing of the opening element 12.
[0039] The second bore 20 notably comprises a first edge 20a and a second edge 20b facing the first edge 20a.
[0040] By convention, the longitudinal axis L is oriented from right to left and is parallel to the opening and closing direction F. In addition, the vertical axis V is oriented from bottom to top.
[0041] The temporary closing device 10, particularly visible in Figures 2 to 6, comprises a fixing plate or base 22 and a stop body 24.
[0042] The fixing plate 22 ensures the fixing of the device 10 on the support element 14 by means of a first hooking member 26 and a second hooking member 28 projecting from the fixing plate 22.
[0043] The first attachment member 26 and the second attachment member 28 are in particular aligned along the longitudinal axis L and extend in opposite directions.
[0044] According to the example of the invention, the first attachment member 26 has a hook shape, a point 30 of which, forming an end opposite the fixing plate 22, extends longitudinally opposite the second attachment member 28. along the longitudinal axis L.
[0045] In particular, in section in a longitudinal plane L and vertical plane V, the first attachment member 26 has an L shape.
[0046] The first attachment member 26 also comprises a shoulder 32, visible in FIGS. 7 to 12, configured to come into abutment under a rim 34 of the first bore 18, as visible in [Fig. 12], so as to participate in holding the device 10 on the support element 14.
[0047] In particular, the shoulder 32 of the first attachment member 26 is turned towards the second attachment member 28, that is to say opposite the tip 30 defined previously.
[0048] The first hooking member 26 is configured to be housed in the first bore 18 and the second hooking member 28 is configured to be housed in the second bore 20 of the support element, so as to lock the device 10 in position on the support element 14.
[0049] The second attachment member 28 is described in the remainder of the detailed description.
[0050] In another example, in particular when the temporary closing device 10 is used for the opposite door of the vehicle, the first bore and the second bore are arranged symmetrically on the support element relative to the opposite door. The element is located at the top or bottom depending on the door in question. Thus, the same temporary closing device 10 is compatible with all the doors of the vehicle regardless of the side on which they are located.
[0051] The fixing plate 22 of the device 10 comprises a base 36 comprising a horizontal main plane P, visible in [Fig. 2], which extends in support on the external face 16a of the wall 16 of the support element 14 when the device 10 is mounted on the support element 14, as visible in [Fig. 12].
[0052] The temporary closing device 10 also comprises a lock 38, particularly visible in FIGS. 3 to 6, comprising at least one stop member 40.
[0053] In particular, the lock 38 comprises a tab 42 which has an elongated shape which extends along a horizontal transverse axis T, perpendicular to the longitudinal axis L.
[0054] The lock 38 is elastically articulated relative to the base 36, via an elastic hinge 44 with spring effect, around a hinge axis C parallel to the longitudinal axis L.
[0055] The elastic hinge 44 is here formed by a thinned portion 46 which extends between the base 36 and the lock 38 and in such a way as to confer elastic return properties to said lock 38.
[0056] The lock 38 is rotatable relative to the base 36, via the elastic hinge 44, between a locked rest position illustrated in [Fig.3], and a position under unlocked constraint shown in [Fig.5].
[0057] It is understood that the rest position of the lock 38 corresponds to a position in which the elastic hinge 44 is not stressed and remains in its neutral state.
[0058] Thus, in the locked position, the tab 42 of the lock 38 is positioned parallel to the horizontal main plane P of the base 36 as visible in [Fig.3].
[0059] In this position, the stop member 40 of the lock 44 is placed against the second hooking member 28, so as to form a block 48 comprising a first face 50 formed on the second hooking member 28, and a second face 52 formed on the stop member 40, the faces 50, 52 being opposite each other along the longitudinal axis L ([Fig.4]).
[0060] As visible in [Fig. 12], the first face 50 is intended to bear against the first edge 20a of the second bore 20 and the second face 52 is intended to bear against the second edge 20b of the second bore 20 in a position for locking the device 10 on the support element 14.
[0061] The cooperation between the block 48 and the second bore 20 will be detailed later in the description.
[0062] In the unlocked position of the lock 38, the stop member 40 is offset relative to the second hooking element 28 along the vertical axis V of the device 10 as visible in [Fig.6].
[0063] As seen in Figures 3 to 6, the stop member 40 comprises a contact face 54 which extends along the vertical axis V between the second face 52 and a leading edge 56 of the stop member 40.
[0064] More precisely, the leading edge 56 of the stop member 40 is defined as an end edge of the stop member 40, opposite the base 36 of the fixing plate 22.
[0065] According to the example illustrated and visible in [Fig. 3], in the locked position of the lock 38, the leading edge 56 of the stop member 40 extends in a first inclined plane II relative to the main plane P of the base 36.
[0066] More particularly, the leading edge 56 extends such that the inclination evolves in an increasing manner away from the hinge axis.
[0067] A vertical dimension DV of the stop member 40 is thus defined, taken along the vertical axis V of the device 10, the vertical dimension DV increasing as one moves away from the hinge axis from right to left, considering [Fig.3].
[0068] The advantage of such a configuration of the stop member 40 will be detailed later in the remainder of the description, in particular during the description of the assembly method.
[0069] When the lock 38 is in the rest position, visible in figures 3 and 4, the face of contact 54 of the stop member 40 extends in a second plane 12 inclined relative to the longitudinal axis L and relative to the vertical axis V of the device 10.
[0070] In vertical section along the longitudinal L and vertical V axes of the device 10, it is understood that the contact face 54 has a beveled profile.
[0071] A longitudinal dimension DL of the stop member 40 is defined, taken along the longitudinal axis L of the device 10, the longitudinal dimension DL decreasing from the second face 52 towards the leading edge 56.
[0072] The contact face 54 of the stop member 40 also extends opposite the first attachment member 26 considering the longitudinal axis L.
[0073] The contact face 54 of the stop member 40 is thus able to cooperate with the second edge 20b of the second bore 20 during the method of installing the device 10 on the support element 14 which will be described later in the description, in particular in FIGS. 7 to 12.
[0074] Such a contact face 54 of the stop member 40 is advantageous in that, when the second hooking member 28 is inserted into the second bore 20, and in conjunction with the action of the elastic hinge 44 with spring effect, it makes it possible to cause the automatic movement of the lock 38 towards its locked rest position in order to automatically block the device 10 on the support element 14.
[0075] As visible in Figures 4 and 6, the second attachment member 28 according to the example of the invention illustrated, comprises a beveled wall 58 which extends between the first face 50 of the block 48 described previously up to a free end edge 60 of the second attachment member 28.
[0076] Here, the term beveled wall 58 means a wall which extends in a plane inclined relative to the longitudinal axis L and the vertical axis V of the device 10.
[0077] More precisely, the beveled wall 58 and the contact face 54 of the stop member 40 extend in planes having a “V” arrangement in a longitudinal L and vertical V intersecting plane.
[0078] According to an example of the invention, the second attachment member 28 comprises a shoulder between its first face 50 and its beveled wall 58 so as to form a bearing surface 64 which extends in a plane substantially parallel to the main plane of the base 36.
[0079] According to the example of the invention illustrated and visible in [Fig. 4], the second attachment member 28 comprises two shoulders between its first face 50 and its beveled wall 58 so as to form two bearing surfaces 64 which each extend in a separate plane and substantially parallel to the main plane of the base 36.
[0080] The two bearing surfaces 64 extend in particular in planes which are vertically offset from one another.
[0081] The first face 50 and the bearing surface(s) 64 define a housing 66 in which the first edge 20a of the second bore 20 is received when the device 10 is locked on the support element 14
[0082] More precisely, the configuration of double bearing surfaces 64 of the second attachment member 28 makes it possible to adapt to a configuration of the first edge 20a in which the latter comprises a recess, visible in FIGS. 11 and 12.
[0083] For example, this recess can be formed directly in a thickness of the support or in an underlying sheet metal.
[0084] As illustrated in particular in Figures 4 and 6, the second attachment member 28 extends vertically downwards over a height greater than that of the stop member 40.
[0085] The lower free end edge 60 of the second attachment member 28 thus extends vertically downwards beyond the leading edge 56 of the stop member 40.
[0086] In relation to figures 1 and 2, the stop body 24 of the device 10 comprises a stop nose 68 intended to bear against the opening element, for example against a bottom of a passage opening of the lock of the opening element.
[0087] The stop body 24 also comprises a movable element 70 intended to hold the opening element in order to limit the untimely opening of the opening element.
[0088] The stop nose 68 and the movable element 70 then constitute means for blocking the opening element.
[0089] The method of mounting the temporary closure device 10 will now be described in relation to FIGS. 7 to 12.
[0090] The assembly method comprises an insertion step visible in [Fig.7], during which the first attachment member 26 is inserted into the first bore 18 and in such a way that the second locking member 28 is arranged opposite the second bore 20.
[0091] Furthermore, during the insertion step, the device 10 is inclined relative to the wall 16 of the support 14 so that the tip 30 of the first hooking member 26 is inserted into the first bore 18.
[0092] Thus, the first attachment member 26 is inserted into the first bore 18 while being inclined relative to the plane of the support element.
[0093] Once the tip 30 of the first attachment member 26 is inserted into the first bore 18, a step of pivoting the device 10 is carried out.
[0094] During this pivoting step visible in Figures 8 and 9, the device 10 is tilted around a transverse axis of rotation in an anticlockwise direction so as to bring the second attachment member 28 closer to the second bore 20.
[0095] More particularly, the device 10 is pivoted such that the beveled wall 58 of the second hooking member 28 comes into contact with the first edge 20a of the second bore 20 as visible in [Fig.8].
[0096] During this pivoting step, the beveled wall 58 of the second attachment member 28 is configured to slide along the first edge 20a of the second bore 20.
[0097] This pivoting step is then carried out until the edge of the first face 50 is opposite the first edge 20a of the second bore 20, along the longitudinal axis L as visible in [Fig. 10].
[0098] Such positioning of the second hooking member 28 in the second bore 20 then causes the leading edge 56 of the stop member 40 to come into contact with the second edge 20b of the second bore 20, causing the lock to move into the unlocked position, as shown in [Fig. 10].
[0099] Once the device 10 is positioned relative to the support element 14, a step of automatic blocking of the device 10 occurs.
[0100] During this automatic locking step, visible in figures 11 and 12, the pressure on the device 10 is released, so that the elastic hinge 44 and the beveled shape of the contact face 54 of the stop member 40 then causes the automatic movement of the device 10 in longitudinal translation from right to left.
[0101] More particularly, by the effect of the elastic hinge 44 and the beveled contact face 54 of the stop member 40, the lock 38 moves towards its locked rest position by sliding of the contact face 54 against the second edge 20b of the second bore 20.
[0102] This movement of the lock 38 towards its locked rest position then causes the movement of the device 10 in longitudinal translation in a first direction SI, towards the first edge 20a of the second bore 20.
[0103] It is understood, among other things, that the automatic movement of the lock 38 towards its locked position moves the first face 50 block 48 towards the first edge 20a of the second bore 20 until they come into contact with each other as visible in [Fig. 11].
[0104] It is further understood that the automatic movement of the lock 38 into its rest position is made possible on the one hand by the elastic return force of the elastic hinge 44 which automatically exerts a vertical pressure directed downwards opposite the base 36 and, on the other hand, by the particular shape of the beveled contact face 54 of the stop member 40 which acts as a guide surface for the movement of the lock 38.
[0105] In addition, the inclined leading edge 56 of the stop member 40 forms an inclined ramp which, when mounting the device 10 on the support 14 as described, allows the part of the stop member 40 furthest from the elastic hinge 44 to come into contact first with the support element 14.
[0106] This provides a significant lever arm to automatically pivot the lock 38 into its locked position, in conjunction with the action of the beveled contact face 54 and the spring effect of the elastic hinge 44.
[0107] From the above it is understood that the “double slope” characteristic of the stop member 40, that is to say the inclination of the leading edge 56 and of the beveled contact face 54 as described above, ensures the automatic blocking in the locked position of the latch 38 by acting as a “double surface” for guiding and controlling the movements of the stop member 40 in the second bore 20, under the effect of the elastic hinge 44.
[0108] In other words, the double slope of the stop member 40 improves the action of the elastic spring effect of the elastic hinge 44 to automatically move the lock 38 into its locking position.
[0109] In other words, the inclined shape of the contact face 54 makes it possible to automatically initiate the transition from the unlocked position of the lock to its locked position.
[0110] Thus, no manipulation by an operator is necessary to position the lock 38 in its locked blocking position.
[0111] Furthermore, the separation of the device 10 from the support element 14 is carried out in an equally easy manner, without unnecessary manipulation on the part of the operator.
[0112] First, the lock 38 is moved into its unlocked position.
[0113] To do this, a gripping end 72 of the lock tab, opposite the elastic hinge 44, is moved vertically opposite the support element 14.
[0114] It is therefore understood that during the movement of the gripping end 72, the stop member 40 is moved outside the second bore 20.
[0115] Thus, subsequently, the device 10 is driven in longitudinal translation in a second direction S2, visible in [Fig. 11], and opposite to the first direction SI of its insertion, so as to move the first face 50 away from the first edge 20a of the second bore 20, as visible in [Fig. 10].
[0116] This step is notably facilitated by the particular configuration of the stop member 40 and notably the inclination of its leading edge 56 described previously.
[0117] Indeed, when moving the lock 38 into its unlocked position, the leading edge 56 is positioned parallel to the support element 14, which facilitates the removal of the lock 38 from the second bore 20 and therefore facilitates the longitudinal translational movement of the device 10 in the second direction S2, as mentioned above.
[0118] Finally, following the longitudinal translational movement of the device 10, this the latter can be removed from the support 14 by pivoting so as to unhook the first hooking member 26 from the first bore 18.
[0119] Advantage is thus taken of the temporary closing device as just described in that it is simple and quick to install, requiring little handling on the part of an operator, its locking on the support element being carried out automatically via the particular shape of its lock and in particular of its contact face.
[0120] The temporary closing device is then also advantageous in that it improves safety with regard to the locking in position of the device on the support, an oversight or incorrect handling by the operator then no longer being harmful.

Method for mounting a temporary closure device (10) according to any one of the preceding claims on a support element (14), characterized in that it comprises the following steps: - An insertion step during which the first hooking member (26) is inserted into the first bore (18) and in such a way that the second hooking member (28) is arranged opposite the second bore (20); - A pivoting step during which the device (10) is pivoted about a transverse axis (T) in such a way that the leading edge (56) of the stop member (40) comes into contact with the second edge (20b) of the second bore (20) and that the second hooking member (28) passes through the second bore (20), positioning the lock (38) in its unlocked stressed position;- An automatic locking step during which the elastic hinge (44) and the beveled shape of the contact face (54) of the stop member (40) automatically moves the device (10) in translation along the longitudinal axis (L) so that the lock (38) passes into its locked rest position, automatically locking the device (10) on the support element (14).;
7. Mounting method according to the preceding claim, wherein during the locking step, the contact face (54) of the stop member (40) slides along the second edge (20b) of the second bore (20) so as to move the lock (38) from its unlocked stressed position to its locked rest position.
