AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Scissor lifts face the risk of the machine basket hitting obstacles during descent, leading to potential mechanical damage and safety hazards for the operator due to unrecognized obstacles, such as low walls, which can cause pressure loss in the hydraulic cylinder system.

Method used

A scissor lift system with a control unit that measures hydraulic pressure and compares it to a threshold value, preventing platform descent when pressure drops below a minimum threshold, and switches the solenoid valve to a non-return admission state to maintain platform stability and allow controlled ascent to clear obstacles.

Benefits of technology

Reduces the risk of mechanical damage and operator safety hazards by preventing uncontrolled descent and allowing controlled ascent to overcome obstacles, utilizing existing components without additional additions.

Abstract

The invention relates to a scissor lift comprising a platform, a hydraulic cylinder system (6) configured to actuate a structure for raising the platform of the lift, a pressure sensor system (7) arranged to measure the pressure in the cylinder system; and a control unit (10) configured to, at least when the lift is in a working position and when the measured pressure value (P7m) is below a minimum threshold value (P7s) defined for the height (H4) at which the platform is located, prevent the platform from descending, the upward movement of the platform remaining controllable. The invention also relates to a corresponding method for preventing descent and a method for authorizing descent. Figure for abstract: Fig.2
