AI Technical Summary
Existing door lock mechanisms that move dormant bolts and turning bolts are complex, often requiring specific forms of racks and gables, or multiple key turns in the cylinder, making them cumbersome and difficult to implement.
A simplified door lock mechanism that uses a moving rod with a sliding link to transition the dormant bolt from its output to back-to-school position, activated by an actuator such as a lock cylinder or electric motor, which also moves the turning bolt through a mechanical link.
This solution simplifies the mechanism for moving dormant bolts and turning bolts, reducing complexity and facilitating easier operation, while ensuring that only authorized individuals can activate the mechanism to open the door.

Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Door lock comprising a deadbolt and a half-turn bolt
[0001] The invention relates to a door lock comprising a deadbolt and a half-turn bolt as well as a bolt mechanism for producing this lock.
[0002] In this type of lock, to facilitate the movement of the deadbolt from its extended position to its retracted position, it is preferable to keep the latch bolt in its extended position for the entire duration of the movement of the deadbolt to its retracted position. Indeed, in this case, the latch bolt keeps the deadbolt centered inside the cavity in which it is received in its extended position. The friction between the interior walls of this cavity and the deadbolt which can occur during this movement is then reduced.
[0003] It is also desirable, to facilitate the opening of the door, that the movement of the deadbolt to its retracted position and the movement of the latchbolt to its retracted position be actuated by the same actuator. This actuator cannot be the door handle because the actuation of the handle must allow only the latchbolt to be moved to its retracted position without moving the deadbolts. For this purpose, it has already been proposed that this actuator be the cylinder of the lock. This is particularly advantageous because, in this case, by simply turning his key in the cylinder, the user can both move the deadbolts to their retracted positions and also the latchbolt. Therefore, once the user has finished turning the key, he can open the door simply by pushing it without having to use the handle to retract the latchbolt.Additionally, since it is the cylinder that operates the movement of the deadbolts to their retracted positions, only a person authorized to enter can do this.
[0004] Examples of such locks are described in applications FR2821381 and EP2208840A2. However, the mechanisms that allow the deadbolts to be moved first and only then the latch bolt are complex. For example, in application FR2821381, this mechanism comprises a pinion and racks having very particular shapes. In application EP2208840A2, an additional rod and, at least, two complete turns of the key in the cylinder must be used.
[0005] The invention aims to remedy this drawback by proposing a lock in which the mechanism for first moving the deadbolt and only then the latch bolt is simplified.
[0006] The invention therefore relates to a door lock comprising:
[0007] - a deadbolt movable between:
[0008] - an extended position, in which the deadbolt is capable of locking the door in a closed position, by cooperation of shape with a corresponding cavity arranged in a vertical part of an upright secured to a door frame, and
[0009] - a retracted position in which the deadbolt allows the door to be opened,
[0010] - a rod movable in translation, in an unlocking direction, from a locked position to an unlocked position,
[0011] - a sliding connection between the rod and the deadbolt capable of moving the bolt sleeping from its extended position to its retracted position when the rod moves from its locked position to its unlocked position,
[0012] - an actuator capable of causing the rod to move from its position towards rusted to its unlocked position, this actuator being chosen from the group consisting of a lock cylinder and an electric motor,
[0013] - a half-turn bolt movable between:
[0014] - an extended position, in which the latch bolt is capable of holding the door in the closed position, by cooperation of shape with a corresponding cavity arranged in the upright integral with the door frame, and
[0015] - a retracted position in which the latch bolt allows the door to be opened,
[0016] this half-turn bolt comprising a beveled distal end capable, by cooperation in shape with the upright secured to the frame, of moving the half-turn bolt from its extended position to its retracted position when the door is slammed,
[0017] - a spring which permanently urges the latch bolt towards its extended position,
[0018] in which:
[0019] - the sliding connection between the rod and the deadbolt is capable of allowing the rod to continue its movement in the unlocking direction, from its unlocked position to a free position,

[0021] - the lock has a mechanical connection between the rod and the half-turn bolt suitable:
[0022] - to move the latch bolt from its extended position to its retracted position when the rod is moved by the actuator from its unlocked position to its free position, and
[0023] - in the unlocked position of the rod, to allow the movement of the bolt half-turn to its retracted position by cooperation of form with the amount secured to the frame.

[0028] - to engage directly with the lever and cause it to rotate in the direction of retraction of the latch bolt only when the rod moves from its locked position to its free position, and
[0029] - to leave the latch bolt free to be moved from its extended position to its retracted position by form cooperation with the upright as long as the rod is in its unlocked position.
[0030] 2)
[0031] - the contact face of the rod has a face inclined relative to the direction of unlocking, and
[0032] - the lever comprises a roller mounted free to rotate around an eccentric axis by relative to the axis of rotation of the lever, this eccentric axis being fixed, without any degree of freedom, to the lever, this roller being able to roll on the inclined face when the contact face of the rod engages directly with the lever to drive it in rotation in the direction of retraction of the half-turn bolt.
[0033] 3) The mechanical connection is also suitable, in the unlocked position of the rod, to allow the latch bolt to move to its retracted position using a handle.

Then, detailed examples of embodiments are described in a chapter II with reference to the figures. In a chapter III, variants of these embodiments are presented. Finally, the advantages of the different embodiments are specified in a chapter IV.
[0079] Chapter I: Definitions, terminologies and conventions:
[0080] In the figures, the same references are used to designate the same elements.
[0081] In the remainder of this description, the characteristics and functions well known to those skilled in the art are not described in detail.
[0082] Figures 1 and 3 to 13 are oriented relative to an orthogonal XYZ coordinate system, where the X and Y directions are horizontal and the Z direction is vertical. Terms such as "above", "below", "up", "down", "upper", "lower" are defined relative to the Z direction. Terms such as "front" and "back" are defined relative to the Y direction. The terms "right" and "left" are defined relative to the X direction, with the X direction pointing to the right.
[0083] Chapter II: Example of embodiment
[0084] [Fig.l] represents a system 2 for controlling access to a home. System 2 makes it possible to ensure that a person not authorized to enter the home cannot do so or can do so with great difficulty. Subsequently, by way of example, the person authorized to enter the home is the owner. For this purpose, system 2 comprises:
[0085] - an entrance door 4,
[0086] - a remote terminal 6 intended to be used by the owner, and
[0087] - an electronic lock 8 mounted on the door 4.
[0088] Subsequently, the lock 8 is described in the particular case where it is a strip of door. Therefore, the numerical reference 8 is also used to designate the door strip.
[0089] Door 4 is located at the entrance to the home. This door 4 delimits the interior of the home from the exterior of the home. Hereinafter, the terms "interior" and "exterior" are used to designate what is located, respectively, inside and outside the home. For example, door 4 is a landing door of an apartment or a house or any other dwelling. Door 4 has an interior face facing the interior of the home and, on the opposite side, an exterior face. The interior and exterior faces extend mainly in parallel vertical planes. Door 4 is movable between an open position, shown in [Fig.l], and a closed position. In the open position, a person can enter the interior of the home and therefore move from outside the home to the interior. Conversely, in the closed position, a person cannot enter the home.
[0090] In this embodiment, the orthogonal reference XYZ is fixed, without any degree of freedom, on the inner face of the door 4. The direction X is directed from the edge of the door along which the strip 8 is fixed, towards the hinges of this door. The direction Y is directed from the inside of the home towards the outside of the home.
[0091] Terminal 6 is for example located outside the home and may be several kilometers away from the home. To simplify [Fig.l], only one terminal 6 is shown. However, in practice, there are often several examples of terminal 6 which operate in the same way. Only terminal 6 is described in more detail below.
[0092] The terminal 6 is capable of establishing videophone communication with a person located on the outside of the door 4. It is also capable of sending an unlocking command to the strip 8. For this, it comprises:
[0093] - a memory 16 comprising the data and instructions necessary for its functioning,
[0094] - a microprocessor 18 capable of executing the instructions recorded in the memory 16,
[0095] - a human-machine interface 20, and
[0096] - a transceiver 22.
[0097] The interface 20 comprises, for example, one or more buttons that can be operated by the owner. Here, it comprises in particular a button 26 for triggering the sending of the unlocking command.
[0098] The transceiver 22 makes it possible to connect the terminal 6 to the strip 8 via a long-distance telecommunications network 28 such as a wireless telephone network or the Internet network.
[0099] Terminal 6 is, typically, the owner's smartphone.
[0100] The strip 8 is a multi-point door strip. The strip 8 is mounted, without any degree of freedom, on the inner face of the door 4.
[0101] The strip 8 is in the form of a single piece inside which are housed the various components described with reference to [Fig.2]. For this purpose, the strip 8 is in the form of a rigid housing 30 inside which its various components are fixed. The housing 30 is here fixed along the vertical edge of the door 4 located on the side opposite the hinges. The housing 30 is fixed to the inner face of the door 4, for example, using screws. Thus, advantageously, the strip 8 can be installed on the inner face of a pre-existing door.
[0102] In [Fig.l], only the components of the strip 8 which protrude from the housing 30 on the inner side or cross the vertical edge of this housing 30 are visible. Thus, only the following components of the strip 8 are visible in [Fig.l]:
[0103] - a 36 half-turn bolt,
[0104] - a handle 38,
[0105] - deadbolts 42,
[0106] - a touch screen 44, and
[0107] - a lock cylinder 46.
[0108] The bolt 36 is movable by the handle 38 from an extended position (shown in Figures 1, 3, 4, 9 and 10) to a retracted position (shown in Figures 5, 11 and 12). The bolt 36 is permanently pushed back towards its extended position by a return spring. A distal end 36d (Figures 9, 10 and 13) of the bolt 36 is beveled so that when the door 4 is slammed from its open position to its closed position, by shape cooperation between the beveled end 36d and an upright 40, the bolt 36 sinks inside the housing 30 against the force of the return spring in order to allow the door 4 to reach its closed position. Once the closed position is reached, the spring pushes the bolt 36 back into its extended position and the distal end 36d enters a corresponding cavity provided in the upright 40.Thus, when the door is in its closed position and the bolt 36 is in its extended position, the bolt 36 holds the door 4 in its closed position.
[0109] The upright 40 is fixed, without any degree of freedom, on the frame of the door 4.
[0110] Each of the deadbolts 42 is movable between an extended position, shown in Figures 1, 3 and 6, and a retracted position shown in Figures 4 and 5. For this, each bolt 42 moves, sliding, through a respective opening provided in the wall of the housing 30. For this purpose, the strip 8 comprises for each bolt 42 a bearing 43 (Figures 6 and 7) which surrounds the opening through which this bolt 42 opens. In the extended position, a distal end 42d ([Fig.8]) of each bolt 42 is received in a corresponding cavity provided in the upright 40 to lock the door 4 in its closed position. In its retracted position, the distal end 42d of each bolt 42 is retracted inside the housing 30 and located outside the cavity provided in the upright 40. Thus, when all the bolts 42 are in their retracted positions, the door 4 is unlocked and can be moved from its closed position to its open position after pressing the handle 38.Unlike the bolt 36, the distal ends of the bolts 42 are not beveled. They cannot therefore be moved to their retracted positions simply by form cooperation with the post 40 as is the case for the bolt 36. Here, in its retracted position, the end 42d of each horizontal bolt 42 is flush with the opening of the housing 30 bordered by the bearing 43. Thus, in the retracted position, the horizontal bolts 42 obstruct the majority of the surface of this opening. Typically, for this purpose, the end 42d is planar and extends essentially in a vertical plane parallel to the Y and Z directions.
[0111] Here, the strip 8 comprises at least five bolts 42. In [Fig.l], four deadbolts 42 are shown in their extended position to make them more visible even if the door 4 is in its open position. For example, each bolt 42 is a cylindrical bar that can be moved in translation between its extended and retracted positions. Among the bolts 42, three of them move horizontally to move between their extended and retracted positions. Subsequently, these three bolts 42 are called “horizontal bolts 42”. The other two bolts 42 located, respectively, at the top and bottom of the strip 8, move vertically between their extended and retracted positions. These two bolts 42 are called “vertical bolts 42”.
[0112] The touch screen 44, the lock cylinder 46 and the reading head 48 are accessible by a person located inside the home.
[0113] [Fig.2] schematically represents the interior architecture of the strip 8 as well as different elements connected to this strip 8.
[0114] The strip 8 comprises, mainly housed inside the housing 30, a bolt mechanism 50 and a system 52 for actuating the mechanism 50.
[0115] The mechanism 50 comprises the bolt 36, the bolts 42 as well as the various mechanical parts necessary to move them between their extended and retracted positions.
[0116] The actuating system 52 moves the mechanism 50 from a locked state to an unlocked state and then to a free state. In the locked state, all the bolts 42 are in their extended positions. In the unlocked state, all the bolts 42 are in their retracted position and only the bolt 36 is in its extended position. Thus, in the unlocked state, the door 4 can be opened by turning the handle 38 in a direction of retraction of the bolt 36 and then pushing or pulling the door 4. In the free state, all the bolts 36 and 42 are in their retracted positions so that the door can be opened simply by pushing or pulling it and without it being necessary to turn the handle. For this purpose, for example, the system 52 comprises a wheel 54 (Figures 9 to 11) meshed with the bolt mechanism 50.When this wheel 54 rotates, in a first direction, this moves the mechanism 50 from its locked state to its unlocked state and then, if the rotation of the wheel 54 is continued in the same direction, from its unlocked state to its free state. When this same wheel 54 rotates in the opposite direction, this returns the mechanism 50 from its free state to its unlocked state and then from its unlocked state to its locked state. In addition, the system 52 makes it possible to stop the movement of the wheel 54 when one of the states, chosen from the locked, unlocked and free states, is reached.
[0117] In the unlocked state and, here, in the locked state, the mechanism 50 allows the manual movement of the bolt 36 towards its retracted position using the handle 38.
[0118] To move the mechanism 50 between its different states, the system 52 comprises at least one actuator chosen from the group consisting of a electric motor 60 and cylinder 46. In this particular embodiment, the system 52 comprises both actuators, i.e., both cylinder 46 and electric motor 60.
[0119] The cylinder 46 makes it possible in particular to move the mechanism 50 between its different states even in the event of unavailability of the electric motor 60. The motor 60 is said to be "unavailable" when it cannot be used to move the mechanism 50. Such unavailability may result from a breakdown of the motor 60 or another element of the actuation system 52. This unavailability may also result, for example, from a cut in the electrical power supply to the motor 60.
[0120] In this embodiment, the cylinder 46 is a mechanical cylinder devoid of any electronic component that requires power to operate. Here, the cylinder 46 is a mechanical cylinder in European format. In this embodiment, it comprises an inner half-cylinder and an outer half-cylinder accessible, respectively, from the inner and outer sides of the door 4. Thus, the cylinder 46 can be used both from the outer side of the door 4 and from its inner side. For this, the strip 8 comprises a housing passing right through the housing 30 in the Y direction and into which the inner half-cylinder of the cylinder 46 is inserted. This housing is located opposite a hole passing through the door 4 in the Y direction and into which the outer half-cylinder of the cylinder 46 is inserted.Conventionally, the cylinder 46 is only fixed, without any degree of freedom, to the door 4 using a screw whose screw head is only accessible from the vertical edge of the door 4 or the housing 30.
[0121] The cylinder 46 comprises a rotor 62 rotatably mounted inside a fixed stator 64. The stator 64 is fixed, without any degree of freedom, to the door 4. The rotor 62 comprises a key channel 66 which opens on the inner side and on the outer side. This channel 66 is intended to receive a key. The rotor 62 can be rotated about an axis of rotation, parallel to the Y direction, only when an authorized key is inserted inside the channel 66 and then turned. An authorized key is a key authorized to move the mechanism 50 to its unlocked state. Conversely, in the absence of a key inside the channel 66 or in the presence of an unauthorized key inside the channel 66, the rotor 62 is blocked in rotation and cannot rotate about its axis 63 of rotation.
[0122] Typically, for this purpose, the cylinder 46 comprises a first set of pins that can be moved in translation inside the stator 64 and, opposite, a second set of pins that can be moved in translation inside the rotor 62 by the key inserted into the channel 66. The pins of the first set are also known as "counter-pins". When an authorized key is inserted inside the channel 66, the interfaces between the pins of the first and second sets of pins are all located at the interface between the rotor 62 and the stator 64, which releases rotation of the rotor 62. The interface between the rotor 62 and the stator 64 is also known as the "break line". Conversely, in the absence of a key in the channel 66 or in the presence of an unauthorized key, the interfaces between the pins of the first and second sets of pins are not all located at the interface between the rotor 62 and the stator 64, which prohibits rotation of the rotor 62.
[0123] The cylinder 46 also includes a bit 68. The bit 68 is rotated by the rotor 62 when this rotor rotates. It is the rotation of this bit 68 which activates the movement of the mechanism 50 to its unlocked state and then to its free state.
[0124] The motor 60 includes a drive shaft 70. When the motor 60 is commanded to move the mechanism 50 to its unlocked state, it is the rotation of the shaft 70 which activates the movement of the mechanism 50.
[0125] The system 52 comprises an output shaft 72 and a mechanism 74 for mechanically coupling the bit 68 and the shaft 70 to this shaft 72 to drive it in rotation. The shaft 72 successively moves the mechanism 50 into its locked, unlocked and free states when it is rotated in one direction and successively into its free, unlocked and locked states when it is rotated in the opposite direction.
[0126] The coupling mechanism 74 transmits the rotational movement of the bit 68 to the shaft 72 when the rotor 62 is rotated by the authorized key. Alternately, it transmits the rotational movement of the shaft 70 to the shaft 72 when the motor 60 rotates this shaft 70. For this, for example, the mechanism 74 is identical to one of those described in the French patent application filed under number FR2203725 on 04 / 21 / 2022 by the company COGELEC.
[0127] To control the motor 60, the system 52 comprises a control unit 80. This unit 80 includes:
[0128] - a memorandum 82,
[0129] - a programmable microprocessor 84,
[0130] - a transmitter / receiver 86,
[0131] - the touch screen 44, and
[0132] - an information transmission bus 88 which connects the different components of unit 80.
[0133] The memory 82 is a non-volatile memory comprising the instructions to be executed by the microprocessor 84. The memory 82 comprises all the instructions and data necessary to execute the various functions described in this text. In particular, it comprises the instructions of an access control software module 92.
[0134] The transmitter / receiver 86 is capable of establishing a wireless communication link with Terminal 6 via Network 28.
[0135] The badge reading head 48 is connected to the unit 80 to transmit to the module 92 of the unit 80 the access rights read in the memory of a badge 94. The badge 94 is a badge that can be transported, by hand, by a human being. If the access rights read in the badge 94 correspond to access rights authorized to unlock the strip 8, the module 92 controls the motor 60 to move the mechanism 50 into its unlocked state and then into its free state. Otherwise, the mechanism 50 remains in the locked state. For example, the badge 94 is a transponder badge that transmits the access rights contained in its memory only when it is presented near the head 48.
[0136] The control unit 80 is also connected to the following external elements:
[0137] - a videophone device 96 for establishing videophone communication with a person located on the outside of door 4,
[0138] - an external head 100 for reading badges, and
[0139] - a sensor 102 for opening / closing the door 4 connected to the unit 80 of control and, preferably, housed inside the housing 30.
[0140] The apparatus 96 comprises a camera, a loudspeaker and a microphone. This apparatus 96 is, for example, mounted on the outer face of the door 4.
[0141] The outer head 100 is used to acquire the access rights of a person located on the outer side of the door 4 and, in response, if the acquired access rights authorize the unlocking of the door 4, the module 92 controls the motor 60 to move the mechanism 50 from its locked state to its unlocked state and then from its unlocked state to its free state. Here, the head 100 is capable of reading the access rights recorded in the same badges as those used with the head 48. Thus, the same badge 94 can be used with both the head 48 and the head 100. For this, in this embodiment, the head 100 is structurally identical to the head 48 except that it is located on the outer side of the door 4. For example, the head 100 is mounted on the outer face of the door 4.
[0142] The unit 80 is also capable of controlling the motor 60 to rotate the shaft 70 in the opposite direction and thus successively return the mechanism 50 from its free state to its unlocked state and then from its unlocked state to its locked state. For example, when, based on the measurements of the sensor 102, the unit 80 detects that the door 4 has been moved into its open position and that the mechanism 50 is in its free state, the unit 80 controls the motor 60 to automatically return the mechanism 50 to its unlocked state. Thus, when the user closes the door 4 behind him, the bolt 36 is in its extended position, which makes it possible to maintain the door 4 in its closed position. Then, when, based on the measurements of the sensor 102, the unit detects that the door 4 has been in its closed position for a predetermined duration DF and that the mechanism 50 is in its unlocked state, the unit 80 automatically controls the motor 60 to return mechanism 50 to its locked state.
[0143] In particular, the unit 80 also controls the movement of the mechanism 50 from its locked state to its free state in response to the reception of an unlocking command transmitted by the terminal 6. Conversely, the unit 80 controls the movement of the mechanism 50 from its free state or its unlocked state, to the locked state in response to the reception of a locking command transmitted by the terminal 6 or acquired via the screen 44.
[0144] The bolt mechanism 50 is now described in more detail with reference to FIGS. 3 to 13. Subsequently, the description of the mechanism 50 is made in the case of a horizontal bolt 42 located in the upper part of the strip 8. Everything described for this bolt 42 applies to the other horizontal bolts of the strip 8.
[0145] Figures 3 to 5 show the mechanism 50 in its locked, unlocked and free states, respectively, when a cover of the housing 30 is removed to reveal the interior of the housing 30.
[0146] The housing 30 comprises a rear plate 120 fixed, without any degree of freedom, on the inner face of the door 4. For example, this rear plate is fixed using screws on the inner face of the door 4. Preferably, this rear plate is made of metal.
[0147] The mechanism 50 includes an upper rod 130 used to simultaneously move all the bolts 42 located above a housing 132. The mechanism 50 also includes a lower rod, similar to the rod 130, but used to simultaneously move all the bolts 42 located below the housing 132.
[0148] Here, the rod 130 is mounted, movable only in translation parallel to the Z direction, in the housing 30. For this, it slides in guides not shown. More precisely, the rod 130 moves between a locked position (shown in [Fig.3]), an unlocked position (shown in [Fig.4]) and a free position (shown in [Fig.5]). The locked, unlocked and free positions of the rod 130 correspond, respectively, to the locked, unlocked and free states of the mechanism 50. To move successively from its locked position to its unlocked position and then from its unlocked position to its free position, the rod 130 moves in an unlocking direction parallel to the Z direction and directed from top to bottom.
[0149] Here, the rod 130 is composed of an outer segment 134 and an inner segment 136. The segment 134 is entirely located outside the casing 132. The segment 136 is integral with the casing 132 and essentially located inside this casing. Only the upper end of the segment 136, which protrudes above the casing 132, is visible in Figures 3 to 5. The upper end of the segment 136 is coupled, without any degree of freedom, to the lower end of the segment 134 to form the rod 130. The segments 134 and 136 can be decoupled from each other in order to allow a replacement of the casing 132 without having to dismantle the segment 134.
[0150] For each horizontal bolt 42, the mechanism 50 comprises a sliding connection 140 ([Fig.6]) which transforms the vertical movement of the rod 130 from its locked position to its unlocked position into a horizontal movement of the bolt 42 from its extended position to its retracted position. In addition, here, this same connection 140 allows the rod 130 to continue its movement in the unlocking direction, from its unlocked position to its free position while keeping the bolt 42 immobilized in its retracted position. Figures 6 to 8 show this sliding connection 140 in more detail.
[0151] The connection 140 comprises a support 142 and a notch 144. The bolt 42 is fixed, without any degree of freedom, on the support 142. The support 142 comprises a pin 146 received slidingly inside the notch 144. The notch 144 is here hollowed out directly in the segment 134 of the rod 130.
[0152] The notch 144 comprises, successively from bottom to top: a vertical portion 150 ([Fig.7]), an inclined portion 152, then a vertical portion 154.
[0153] When the rod 130 is in its locked position, the pin 146 is located inside the portion 150 which locks the bolt 42 in its extended position.
[0154] The portion 152 is inclined relative to the unlocking direction. More precisely, going in the X direction, the portion 152 rises from the upper end of the portion 150 to the lower end of the portion 154. When the rod 130 moves downward from its locked position to its unlocked position, the pin 146 first slides in the portion 150 until it reaches the portion 152. This first movement does not move the bolt 42. Then, the pin 146 slides along the portion 152 until it reaches the lower end of the portion 154. The sliding of the pin 146 along the inclined portion 152 moves the bolt 42 from its extended position to its retracted position. The length of portion 152 is adjusted so that the retracted position is reached at the same time as pin 146 reaches the upper end of portion 152 and before engaging portion 154.Thus, in the unlocked position of the rod 130, the pin 146 is located at the lower end of the portion 154 but it has not yet engaged in the portion 154.
[0155] When the rod 130 is moved from its unlocked position to its free position, the pin 146 engages in the portion 154 and slides along this portion 154 until the rod 130 reaches its free position. For this purpose, the length of the portion 154 is equal to or greater than the length of the stroke of the rod 130 between its unlocked and free positions. As explained below, the length of the stroke of the rod 130 between its unlocked and free positions is sufficient to move the bolt 36 from its extended position to its retracted position. When the pin 146 slides along the portion 154, the bolt 42 is stationary and held in its retracted position. Thus, the portion 154 makes it possible to create an overtravel of the rod 130 downwards along which the bolt 42 is immobilized in its retracted position.
[0156] As the rod 130 moves downward along this overtravel, the vertical bolts 42 penetrate even further inside the housing 30. Thus, in the free position of the rod 130, the distal ends of the vertical bolts 42 are entirely located inside the housing 30 and behind the openings in the housing 30 through which they pass.
[0157] The mechanism 50 also includes a mechanical connection 160 (Figures 9 to 12) between the segment 136 and the bolt 36. This connection 160 moves the bolt 36 from its extended position to its retracted position only when the rod 130 moves from its unlocked position to its free position. This connection 160 also allows:
[0158] - the movement of the bolt 36 towards its retracted position by cooperation of shape between the upright 40 and distal end 36d when rod 130 is in its unlocked position and door 4 is slammed into its closed position, and
[0159] - moving the bolt 36 to its retracted position using the handle 38 when the 130 rod is in its unlocked position.
[0160] For this purpose, the connection 160 is established only from the unlocked position of the rod 130 and remains established as long as the rod 130 is between its unlocked and free positions.
[0161] This connection 160 is located inside the casing 132. It is shown in more detail in Figures 9 to 13.
[0162] The connection 160 comprises a lever 162 and a contact face 164 arranged on the segment 136 of the rod 130.
[0163] The lever 162 moves the bolt 36 from its extended position to its retracted position when it is rotated in a retracting direction. For this purpose, the lever 162 is mounted to rotate freely about an axis 166 ([Fig. 13]). The axis 166 is parallel to the Y direction and fixed relative to the housing 30. The lever 162 has an upper end which is permanently engaged in a groove 168 (Figures 12 and 13) hollowed out in the bolt 36.
[0164] Face 164 is configured to:
[0165] - engage directly with lever 162 from the unlocked position of the rod and to its free position, and
[0166] - to disengage from lever 162 when the rod is between its ver positions rusted and unlocked.
[0167] When the face 164 is engaged with the lever 162, it rotates it in the retraction direction as the rod 130 descends downward. When the face 164 is disengaged from the lever 162, the bolt 36 is free to be moved from its position exit to its retracted position by the handle 38. In addition, in the unlocked position, the face 164 also allows the bolt 36 to move to its retracted position. For this purpose, the face 164 has an inclined face 170. The face 170 is inclined relative to the unlocking direction. Here, seen from the inside, going in the X direction, the inclined face 170 rises upwards.
[0168] The lever 162 comprises a roller 172 mounted to rotate freely about an axis parallel to the Y direction and eccentric with respect to the axis 166. The axis of rotation of the roller 172 is fixed, without any degree of freedom, to the lever 162 so that when the face 164 engages with the lever 162, the roller 172 rolls on the inclined face 170, simultaneously causing the rotation of the lever 162 in the retraction direction.
[0169] The casing 132 also includes a follower 180 mounted to rotate around the axis 166. This follower 180 receives the square of the handle 38. Thus, when the handle 38 is turned, the follower 180 turns at the same time. The lever 162 can rotate around the axis 166, in the retraction direction, independently of the follower 180.
[0170] The follower 180 comprises a bearing face 182 ([Fig.13]) movable between:
[0171] - an engaged state (shown in Figures 9, 10 and 12) in which face 182 is in support on a corresponding support face 184 of the lever 162, and
[0172] - a disengaged state (shown in Figures 11 and 13) which allows the movement of the lever 162 by the contact face 164 of the rod 130 without rotating the follower 180.
[0173] In the engaged state, the face 182 rotates the lever 162 in the retraction direction when the follower 180 is itself rotated by the handle 38 in this same direction.
[0174] Between the locked and unlocked positions of the rod 130, the face 164 is not resting on the roller 172 ([Fig. 9]). When the rod 130 reaches its unlocked position, the inclined face 170 comes into contact with the roller 172 ([Fig. 10]). Then, when the rod 130 continues its movement from its unlocked position to its free position, the roller 172 rolls on the inclined face 170 and rotates the lever 162 in the retraction direction. The upper end of the lever 162 then brings the bolt 36 into its retracted position ([Fig. 1 1]) against the return force of the spring which permanently urges it towards its extended position.
[0175] When the rod 130 is between its locked and unlocked positions, the inclined face 170 is not in contact with the roller 172. Under these conditions, the bolt 36 can be moved into its retracted position by manually actuating the handle 38. More specifically, when the handle 38 is pressed, this causes the follower 180 to rotate in the retracting direction. The face 182 then pushes the face 184 of the lever 162, which causes the lever 162 to rotate in the retracting direction and therefore moves the bolt 36 from its extended position to its retracted position. Similarly, when the rod 130 is in its unlocked position, the bolt 36 can still be moved to its retracted position using the handle 38 ([Fig. 12]). Furthermore, in the unlocked position of the rod 130, the mechanism 50 is in its unlocked state so that it is possible to slam the door 4 into its closed position. In this case, the bolt 36 is moved into its retracted position by shape cooperation between its distal end 36d and the upright 40 before automatically returning to its extended position, under the action of the return spring, as soon as it is opposite the corresponding cavity provided in this upright 40. Thus, after slamming the door 4, the latter is held in its closed position by the bolt 36 even if the bolts 42 are in their retracted positions.
[0176] Chapter III: Variants:
[0177] Rod variations:
[0178] Alternatively, the segments 134 and 136 of the rod 130 form a single block of material. In this case, the casing 132 cannot be removed without removing the segment 134.
[0179] The rod 130 may also include a stop which prevents the latch bolt 36 from moving towards its retracted position until the deadbolts 42 are in their retracted positions. Conversely, when the rod is in its unlocked position or located between its unlocked position and its free position, the stop no longer prevents the latch bolt 36 from moving towards its retracted position either using the handle 38 or by shape cooperation between the distal end 36d of the bolt 36 and the upright 40. For example, this stop functions like the stop 58 of application EP2674555.
[0180] Variants of the mechanical connection 160 between the rod and the latch bolt:
[0181] Other embodiments of the connection 160 are possible. For example, the positions of the roller 172 and the inclined face 170 are reversed. In this case, the axis of the roller 172 is integral with the rod 130 and the inclined face 170 is arranged on the lever 162.
[0182] In a simplified embodiment, the roller 172 is replaced by a pin fixed, without any degree of freedom, to the lever 162.
[0183] This connection 160 can also be made without passing through the lever 162. For example, the bolt 36 comprises a pin which extends in a direction parallel to the Y direction. This pin is located inside the casing 132. The rod 130 comprises an inclined face which rises while moving in the X direction. This inclined face is arranged so that the pin of the bolt 36 comes into contact with the lower part of this inclined face only when the rod 130 is in its unlocked position. In the unlocked position, the contact between the pin and the inclined face of the rod is established while leaving the bolt 36 in its extended position. This contact does not prevent the bolt 36 from being moved to its retracted position using the handle 38 because it is located only on the left side of the pin. Then, when the rod 130 is moved from its unlocked position to its free position, the pin slides along the inclined face which moves the latch bolt to its retracted position.
[0184] This connection 160 can also be established by means of one or more additional intermediate parts. For example, the segment 136 of the rod 130 comprises a rack which meshes with an intermediate pinion only when the rod moves between its unlocked position and its free position. The axis of this additional pinion is fixed and parallel to the Y direction. This additional pinion is permanently meshed with a toothed wheel or a portion of a toothed wheel fixed without any degree of freedom on the lever 162. This toothed wheel or portion of a toothed wheel drives the lever 162 in rotation in the retraction direction when the rod 130 is moved from its unlocked position to its free position.
[0185] Other variants:
[0186] The number of deadbolts can be modified. In particular, the vertical deadbolts can be removed. In a very simplified embodiment, the lock has a single horizontal deadbolt. In the latter case, the lock is no longer a multi-point lock.
[0187] Other embodiments of the sliding connection 140 between the horizontal bolt 42 and the rod 130 are possible. For example, the positions of the notch 144 and the pin 146 can be interchanged. In this case, the notch 144 is located on the support 142 and the pin 146 on the rod 130.
[0188] The support 142 can be omitted. In this case the pin 146 is for example directly fixed on the bolt 42.
[0189] The vertical portion 150 of the notch 144 which locks the bolt 42 in its extended position can be omitted. The vertical portion 154 can be made differently. For example, the vertical portion 154 is replaced by an additional inclined portion that extends the inclined portion 152 in the X direction. Therefore, when the rod 130 moves from its unlocked position to its free position, this moves, more than necessary to unlock the door, the horizontal bolt 42 towards the inside of the housing 30. Thus, in this case, in the unlocked position of the rod 130, the distal end 42d of the bolt 42 is flush with the outer face of the housing 30, which is sufficient to unlock the door 4. In the free position of the rod 130, the distal end 42d of the bolt 42 is pressed inside the housing 30.
[0190] In another embodiment, the lever 162 and the follower 180 are fixed to each other without any degree of freedom. For example, the lever 162 and the follower 180 form a single block of material. In this case, when the lever 162 is rotated by the rod 130, the handle 38 rotates at the same time.
[0191] In a simplified variant, the bolt 36 can only be moved by the system 52 drive mechanism 50 with bolt and is not movable using the handle. For example, the handle 38 is replaced by a door knob fixed without any degree of freedom on the door 4.
[0192] The lock 8 may take other forms than that of a door strip. For example, in another embodiment, the lock is not a multi-point lock so that on the inside, it does not form a strip which extends over the entire height of the door.
[0193] In a simplified variant, the electric motor 60 is omitted. In this case, the movement of the bolt mechanism 50 can only be actuated using the cylinder 46. In this case, the control unit 80 can also be omitted so that the strip 8 can only be unlocked using a mechanical key.
[0194] Conversely, the cylinder 46 can be omitted so that the only actuator of the rod 130 is then the electric motor 60.
[0195] The cylinder 46 can also be an electronic lock cylinder, for example, in European format.
[0196] Several of the variants described above can be combined in the same embodiment.
[0197] Chapter IV: Advantages of the described embodiments:
[0198] Using an overtravel of the rod 130 to actuate the movement of the latch bolt 36 to its retracted position after first moving the bolts 42 to their retracted positions, makes it possible to obtain a bolt mechanism which operates like that described in application FR2821381. In particular, it is the same cylinder 46 or the same electric motor 60 which moves the rod 130 from its locked position to its unlocked position and from its unlocked position to its free position. Moving the latch bolt to its retracted position by slamming the door is also always possible. On the other hand, the bolt mechanism described here is less complex than that of application FR2821381. Indeed, in the bolt mechanism described here, it is not necessary to use a pinion and rack having a particular conformation which allows the pinion to continue to rotate while the deadbolts are locked in their retracted positions.
[0199] Establishing the connection 160 between the latch bolt 36 and the rod 130 by passing through the lever 162 makes it possible to form a connection which is very robust and whose size in the Y direction is small. In addition, the use of a contact face 164 of the rod 130 which comes directly into contact with the lever 162 makes it possible to simply connect the rod 130 to the lever 162 when the rod 130 is moved between its unlocked and free positions. This further simplifies the production of the rod mechanism.
[0200] The fact that the lever comprises a roller 172 which rolls on the inclined face 170 of the rod when the rod moves from its unlocked position to its free position, limits friction and therefore makes it easier to move the rod to its free position.
[0201] By allowing, in the unlocked position of the rod, the movement of the half-turn bolt 36 towards its retracted position using the handle 38, the door can be opened without using the lock cylinder or the electric motor for this.
[0202] The fact that the lever 162 comprises a bearing face 184 movable between the engaged and disengaged states makes it possible to move the latch bolt 36 towards its retracted position using the rod 130 without at the same time causing the handle 38 to move.
[0203] The fact that the notch 144 comprises a vertical portion 154 makes it possible to keep the distal end 42d flush with the outer wall of the housing 30 when the rod 130 moves between its locked and free positions. Thus, the opening through which the deadbolt comes out is always kept largely closed, which limits the fouling of the interior of the housing 30.
[0204] The fact that the actuators 36, 60, the segment 136 of the rod 130, the latch bolt 36 and the mechanical connection 160 between the rod and the latch bolt are all housed inside the same replaceable casing 132, simplifies the maintenance and repair of the lock.
[0205] The fact that the lock is in the form of a door strip comprising, in the same housing 30, all the parts of the lock simplifies its installation on a door.
