Title of the invention: Bumper support for motor vehicles
[0001] The technical context of the present invention is that of front bumpers for motor vehicles and the illuminated grilles associated therewith. More particularly, the invention relates to a bumper support for a motor vehicle.
[0002] In the prior art, front bumpers of motor vehicles are technical parts resulting from the combination of several components:
[0003] - a bumper support ensures the required rigidity on the front face of the motor vehicle, and also connects to a chassis of said motor vehicle. The bumper support thus forms a mounting interface for the other constituent elements of the front bumper;
[0004] - a bumper skin that covers the bumper support. The bumper skin is fixed securely to the bumper support and forms a front face of the front bumper of the motor vehicle. The bumper skin extends in line with the hood of the motor vehicle and in line with the side wings, so as to create a continuous surface for the body of the motor vehicle;
[0005] - frontal shock absorption devices;
[0006] We also know of the integration, on such known bumpers, of certain devices such as, for example, lighting and / or signaling devices, ventilation grilles, or bumper trims which make it possible to hide certain technical devices.
[0007] The use of illuminated grilles associated with known front bumpers is also known. Such illuminated grilles create lighting functions on the front of the motor vehicle and also meet styling requirements. Such illuminated grilles are usually fixed to the bumper support by means of fastening that are not always satisfactory. Indeed, known illuminated grilles are attached to the bumper support in a complex manner, for example, by means of intermediate parts that complicate their installation and make disassembly and repairs more time-consuming and expensive.

[0016] In the context of the present invention, a longitudinal axis, a lateral axis, and a vertical axis are defined with respect to the motor vehicle on which the bumper support according to the first aspect of the invention is intended to be mounted. More particularly, the transverse axis is understood as a direction taken between one lateral side of the motor vehicle and an opposite lateral side of said motor vehicle. In other words, the transverse axis is understood as a direction extending from a passenger side of the motor vehicle to a driver's side of said motor vehicle, or vice versa. The adjectives lateral, inside, and outside refer to such a transverse axis. Furthermore, the longitudinal axis is understood as being taken along a direction extending from front to back or from back to front of the motor vehicle. The longitudinal axis is perpendicular to the transverse axis.The adjectives front, front, and rear refer to this longitudinal axis. The bumper bracket is fixed to the chassis of the motor vehicle, and the bumper skin is intended to be fixed attached to the bumper support. The bumper support comprises an elongated main body that extends primarily along the transverse and vertical axes.
[0018] In the context of the present invention, the bumper bracket mounting area forms a mounting interface for the illuminated grille, and more particularly for the central portion of the illuminated grille. The mounting area is configured to allow for reliable and robust attachment of the illuminated grille, and is removable. The mounting area allows the central portion of the illuminated grille to be brought into position and supported on the same side of the bumper bracket as the bumper skin is fixed to said bumper bracket. In the context of the present invention, the mounting area comprises several elements that work together to position and secure the central portion of the illuminated grille onto the bumper bracket – the upper platform and the lower platform.

1. Bumper support (1) for a motor vehicle, the bumper support (1) comprising a fixing area for a central part of a light grille (2) of the motor vehicle, the fixing area comprising: - an upper platform (11) for fixing the central part of the light grille (2), the upper platform (11) comprising fixing members (111) and indexing members (112) of said central part of the light grille (2);- a lower platform (12) for fixing the central part of the light grille (2), the lower fixing platform (12) comprising indexing devices (221) and retaining devices (222) for said central part of the light grille (2), characterized in that the indexing members (112) comprise a light (1121) configured to collaborate with a prismatic bearing (21) of the central part of the light grille (2), the prismatic bearing (21) extending from the central part of the light grille (2) towards the upper platform (11), so as to engage in the light (1121).

Bumper support (1) according to the preceding claim, wherein the fastening members (111) have a hole (1111) provided in the upper platform (11) and a fastening screw (1112) passing through the hole (1111), the fastening screw (1112) being configured to cooperate with a tapped hole provided on the central part of the light grille (2).
3. Bumper support (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the fastening members (111) comprise at least one clipping lug (1113) extending projecting from the upper platform (11), each at least one clipping lug (1113) being configured to collaborate by snapping with a clipping lug (22) provided on the central part of the light grille (2).

Bumper support (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the fastening members (111) comprise at least one axial stop bearing (1115) configured to collaborate with the central part of the light grille (2) and achieve an axial stop of said central part, relative to a vertical axis (Z).

Bumper support (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the indexing devices (221) have two holes (1211) configured to collaborate with support legs (24) of the central part of the light grille (2), each support leg (24) extending from the central part of the light grille (2) towards the lower platform (12), so as to engage in the corresponding hole (1211).
6. Bumper support (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein the retaining devices (222) are configured to prevent rotation of the central part of the light grille (2) with respect to a transverse axis (Y) of the bumper support (1).
7. Bumper support (1) according to the preceding claim, wherein the retaining devices (222) comprise a retaining rib (1221) extending over a recess configured to receive at least one retaining tab (23) provided on the central part of the light grille (2).
8. Bumper support (1) according to the preceding claim, wherein the recess is provided on a lower wall of the lower platform (12), said lower wall extending predominantly in a plane defined by a transverse axis (Y) and a longitudinal axis (X) of the bumper support (1).
9. Motor vehicle comprising: - a bumper support (1) according to any one of the preceding claims; - a bumper skin fixed securely to the bumper support (1); - a light grille (2) fixed securely to the bumper support (1), the light grille (2) comprising a first lateral part, a second lateral part and a central part, the central part being fixed to the bumper support (1) at the level of the upper platform (11) and the lower platform (12) of said bumper support (1).
