Description

Title of the invention: Automated opening system

[0001] Field of the invention The field of the invention is that of the design and manufacture of opening systems.

[0002] More specifically, the invention relates to an opening system making it possible to facilitate the movement of an opening relative to a frame.

[0003] State of the art Opening systems are used in many technical fields, such as drawers (which form openings) that move relative to a frame or on boxes that include a case and a lid that moves relative to the case, the case then forming the frame and the lid then forming the opening. A particular type of box concerns transportable boxes with a small footprint, such as for example a briefcase.

[0004] For many years, a trend towards the simplification of objects has been observed, both in terms of aesthetics and functionality.

[0005] For this, protruding and / or unattractive parts of objects are now hidden in order to make the lines of the objects more fluid.

[0006] For example, the handles of openings are increasingly hidden or removed.

[0007] Indeed, some handles can simply be removed. The opening is then manipulated by an action which aims to push the opening towards the inside of the frame so that, by spring effect, it comes out and offers a grip to the user.

[0008] Another type of opening comprises handles which are retractable relative to the opening. In this case, the handles are retracted into a housing and are flush with the outer surface of the opening when the latter is not intended to be manipulated, and are removed from the housing when the opening is to be manipulated by the user.

[0009] In the case of briefcases, it is common to replace the conventionally known opening means, which provide easy gripping of the opening, with motorized, and generally tactile, means, which are invisible or almost invisible when the opening is not being handled or is not intended to be.

[0010] This has a major drawback in that the opening, which is then motorized, requires a power source, so that the briefcase must be recharged from time to time to allow the opening of the opening.

[0011] To overcome this need for reloading, certain systems such as springs or elastic return means have been put in place to allow opening au- automation of openings.

[0012] As explained previously, such systems require the user to press on the opening in a direction opposite to its opening, so as to disengage retaining means in a closed position of the opening.

[0013] By releasing the pressure exerted, the opening then moves in its opening direction.

[0014] Subsequently, the user can, in a conventional manner, grasp the opening to manipulate it as desired.

[0015] Such systems then require the user to perform an action on the opening which is not natural since, to open the opening, it is necessary to perform an action conventionally performed to close the opening.

[0016] On the other hand, these recall means are generally imposing and occupy a significant amount of space which encroaches on the storage space.

[0017] Furthermore, to avoid excessively sudden movement of the opening, shock absorbers are generally used in addition to the means enabling opening.

[0018] Such dampers make it possible to slow down or moderate the translation speed of the opening relative to the frame.

[0019] These shock absorbers also have a disadvantage in terms of space requirement since they also take up space in the storage volume.

[0020] Objectives of the invention The invention aims in particular to overcome the drawbacks of the prior art.

[0021] More specifically, the invention aims to propose an opening system facilitating the opening or movement of the opening over a first portion of its total movement automatically.

[0022] The invention also aims to provide such an opening system which makes it possible to obtain a regular translational movement, that is to say at a constant or almost constant speed of the opening relative to the frame. More precisely, the objective is to achieve a movement of the opening by a constant force which then generates a constant acceleration for a given opening mass.

[0023] The invention further aims to provide such an opening system which is compact and makes it possible to offer optimized storage space compared to the opening systems according to the prior art.

[0024] Statement of the invention These objectives, as well as others which will appear subsequently, are achieved thanks to the invention which relates to an opening system comprising: - a frame; - an opening movable in translation relative to the frame, according to a total displacement between an opening position in which the opening is moved away from the frame

[0025]

[0027]

[0028]

[0029]

[0030] and a closing position; - a device for guiding the opening in translation, characterized in that the guide device includes a guide secured to the frame and having: - a first portion extending perpendicular to a translation direction of the opening, - a second portion extending the first portion and forming an angle of between 65° and 85° with the first portion; the guide device also including a connecting rod having a first end cooperating with the guide, and a second end by which the connecting rod is rotatably mounted on the opening, and return means interposed between the opening and the connecting rod, the return means being able to adopt: - an active configuration in which the return means exert a force on the connecting rod to drive it in rotation relative to the frame and allow the movement of the opening over a first part of its total movement by cooperation between the first end of the connecting rod and the first portion of the guide, and - a neutral configuration in which the return means do not exert any force on the connecting rod, during the movement of the opening over a second part of its total movement, the first end of the connecting rod being guided on the second portion of the guide in the neutral position of the return means. Such an opening system makes it possible to guide the translational movement of the opening according to a first part of its total movement so that the rest of the movement is controlled by the user himself. In fact, the use of the guide with two separate portions makes it possible to achieve this partial guidance by ensuring movement of the opening thanks to the return means and the connecting rod for the first part, while maintaining constant cooperation between the connecting rod and the guide on each part of movement of the opening. Therefore, when the opening is repositioned in its closed position, the cooperation between the connecting rod and the guide is still effective in order to reset the guide device to allow new guidance during a future opening of the opening. In other words, this opening system is reusable and initiated each time the opening is closed. According to an advantageous aspect, the return means are secured to the opening by means of a support secured to the opening, the support having at least two positions for attaching the return means. The two attachment positions of the recall means on the support allow adjust the intensity of the force applied to the connecting rod by the return means between, at a minimum, a low intensity and a high intensity corresponding to each of the positions.

[0031] Of course, these two positions can be extreme positions, so that any intermediate position makes it possible to more finely adjust the force applied by the return means on the connecting rod and therefore to adjust the speed of movement of the opening over the first part of its total movement.

[0032] By finely adjusting the force relative to the weight of the opening, it is possible to minimize the acceleration and therefore artificially make the speed constant or almost constant. The constant speed is a visual perception effect for the user.

[0033] According to another advantageous aspect, the support comprises at least two pins forming the two attachment positions.

[0034] These pins can thus offer predetermined adjustments of the force applied by the return means on the connecting rod.

[0035] Thus, according to the user's wishes, adjusting the attachment position of the return means on the support will make it possible to vary the acceleration of movement of the opening over its first part of total movement.

[0036] According to another advantageous aspect, the guide is mounted movably on the frame.

[0037] The mobility of the guide on the frame makes it possible to adjust the cooperation stroke of the first portion of the guide with the connecting rod.

[0038] Thus, the movement of the opening automatically by the cooperation between the guide and the connecting rod can be adjusted according to the user's wishes.

[0039] According to another advantageous aspect, the connecting rod has a body integrating the first end and the second end, and a finger extending from the body and to which the return means are fixed, the body and the finger being coplanar.

[0040] Such a connecting rod can, for example, be produced by cutting a metal plate or by forming a flat plastic part.

[0041] The compactness of the opening system, and in particular of the connecting rod, makes it possible to increase the space available for storing or arranging objects inside the drawer or box.

[0042] According to another advantageous aspect, the opening leaf carries an adjustable stop intended to limit the rotation of the connecting rod relative to the opening leaf.

[0043] Adjusting the stop then makes it possible to reduce or increase the rotation of the connecting rod relative to the opening, which has the effect of modifying the movement of the opening relative to the frame by the cooperation between the connecting rod and the first portion of the guide.

[0044] This adjustable stop can be an alternative to the mobility of the guide on the frame, by offering increased simplicity in adjusting the limitation of the rotation of the connecting rod relative to the opening.

[0045] According to another advantageous aspect, the return means comprise at least one helical spring.

[0046] Such a helical spring is simple to manufacture, simple to calibrate, and highly resistant to repeated stresses, in particular the opening and closing of the opening.

[0047] Thus, the reliability of the opening system is improved.

[0048] According to another advantageous aspect, the helical spring is calibrated to exert a force of at least between 10N and 40N.

[0049] Such a force applied by the spring means on the connecting rod makes it possible to obtain a flexible movement of the opening relative to the frame, that is to say a measured movement which does not risk surprising the user with excessive speed.

[0050] In addition, a measured movement of the opening makes it possible to reduce the noise caused by the opening when it opens.

[0051] The comfort of use of the opening system is then improved.

[0052] According to another advantageous aspect, the opening system comprises means for guiding the opening in translation relative to the frame.

[0053] The means for guiding the opening in translation relative to the frame make it possible to facilitate the translational movement of the opening relative to the frame until the opening can be manipulated or, at the very least, grasped by the user.

[0054] This makes it possible in particular to embed the opening in a housing in the frame, so that the opening and the frame are flush, which benefits the aesthetics of the whole in particular, without the risk of the opening buckling during its translation.

[0055] According to another advantageous aspect, the translational guidance means comprise at least one rail and a carriage movable on the rail, one of the carriage and the rail being integral with the opening and the other of the rail and the carriage being integral with the frame.

[0056] A rail and carriage system makes it possible to provide good guidance reliability but also good compactness to the opening system according to the invention.

[0064] [Fig.7] is a schematic detail view of the opening system according to the invention, in the opening position of the opening as shown in [Fig.2];

[0065] [Fig.8] is a schematic detail view of the opening system according to the invention, illustrating part of a device for guiding the opening in translation relative to the frame.

[0066] Detailed description of the invention Figures 1 to 8 illustrate an opening system comprising: - a frame 2; - an opening 3 movable in translation relative to the frame 2 according to a total displacement between an open position (illustrated by [Fig.3]) in which the opening 3 is spaced from the frame 2, and a closed position (illustrated by [Fig.l]); - a guide device 4 for translation of the opening 3.

[0067] Between its open position and its closed position, the opening leaf 3 can adopt an intermediate open position illustrated by [Fig. 2]. In this intermediate open position, or half-open position, the opening leaf 3 is parallel to its closed position but is slightly spaced from the frame 2.

[0068] The opening position is defined as being a pivoted position of the opening relative to the frame, this pivoted position only being possible if the opening has previously been brought into the intermediate opening position (otherwise, the opening is embedded in the frame and it is not possible to pivot it).

[0069] With reference to figures 1 to 3, the opening system is integrated into a box 1 comprising a body and a cover.

[0070] More specifically, the frame 2 corresponds to the body of the box 1, and the opening 3 corresponds to the cover of the box 1. Said box can for example be a briefcase.

[0071] The opening 3 includes in particular a flat element 31 as well as a pair of arms 32 by which the flat element 31 is connected to the frame 2.

[0072] With reference to figures 1 to 3, the opening 3 is movable relative to the frame 2 according to two distinct movements.

[0073] According to a first movement, illustrating the passage of the cover of box 1 from its position in [Fig.l] (closed position) to its position in [Fig.2] (open position), the opening 3 is movable in a translational movement. In this first movement, the flat element 31 and the pair of arms 32 have no relative movement.

[0074] According to a second movement, illustrating the passage of the cover from its half-open position illustrated in [Fig.2] (open position) to its position illustrated in [Fig.3] (pivoted position), the opening 3 is movable in rotation relative to the frame 2. More particularly, the flat element 31 pivots relative to the pair of arms 32 which remains immobile relative to the frame 2. The pivoting is carried out by means of a pivot connection P and a guide finger 33 which follows a groove 34 presented by the arm 32. Each arm 32 has a groove 34 and a pivot connection P, and the opening 3 carries two guide fingers 33.

[0075] As will be explained later, the first movement corresponds to a total displacement of the opening 3 between its closed position illustrated by [Fig.l], and its open position illustrated by [Fig.2].

[0076] This first movement is broken down into a first part during which the movement of the opening 3 is carried out by the opening system, and a second part during which the movement of the opening 3 is carried out manually by a user of the opening system.

[0077] As an illustrative and non-limiting example, the opening moves in translation over a total travel of 12 mm. The first part of the total movement is for example 11 mm and the second part of the total movement is then 1 mm.

[0078] The opening system, and more particularly the device 4 for guiding the opening 3 in translation, illustrated in figures 4, 5, 6 and 7, makes it possible to guide the opening 3 in translation relative to the frame 2, automatically and without effort for a user during the first part of its total movement.

[0079] This translational guidance device 4 comprises: - a guide 5 attached to the frame 2; - a connecting rod 6 mounted mobile in rotation on the opening 3; - return means 7 inserted between the connecting rod 6 and the opening 3.

[0080] More precisely, as illustrated in figures 4, 5, 6 and 7, the guide 5 secured to the frame 2 has: - a first portion 51, extending perpendicular to a translation direction of the opening 3, - a second portion 52, extending the first portion 51 and forming an angle of between 65° and 85° with the first portion 51.

[0081] The connecting rod 6 is rotatably mounted on the arm 32.

[0082] According to the embodiment illustrated by figures 4 to 7, the angle formed between the first portion 51 and the second portion 52 is 70°.

[0083] The first portion 51 and the second portion 52 of the guide 5 are connected to each other by a third curved portion 53.

[0084] The third portion makes it possible to carry out a resetting of the guide device 4 when the opening 3 passes from its open position to its closed position, in order to allow the opening 3 to pass from its closed position to its open position automatically.

[0085] The guide 5 is advantageously mounted movably on the frame 2.

[0086] This makes it possible in particular to shift the second part 52 of the guide 5 relative to the connecting rod 6 in order to change the automatic translation distance of the opening 3.

[0087] In other words, by moving the guide 5 on the frame 2, the first part 51 is lengthened or shortened relative to the pivot point 67 of the connecting rod 6 on the opening 3. This adjustment directly influences the automatic translation height of the opening 3, that is to say when the connecting rod 6 cooperates with the first part 51 of the guide 5.

[0088] As an alternative to the mobility of the guide 5, the guide device 4 can integrate an adjustable stop 66 intended to limit the rotation of the connecting rod 6 relative to the opening 3, and more precisely relative to the arm 32.

[0089] For this, as illustrated by [Fig.8], the adjustment stop 66 has a truncated portion intended to cooperate with the connecting rod 6 to limit its rotation.

[0090] The adjustable stop 66 is secured to the arm 32 by a helical cooperation, that is to say that it is screwed onto the arm 32.

[0091] Screwing or unscrewing the adjustable stop 66 relative to the arm 32 then causes the frustoconical portion to move forward or backward, which makes it possible to respectively reduce or increase the angular travel over which the connecting rod 6 can pivot.

[0092] Although the adjustable stop 66 is a variant of the mobility of the guide 5 relative to the frame 2, it is possible for the guide 5 to be movable on the frame 2 and for the guide device 4 to also incorporate an adjustable stop 66. Thus, it is possible to play on two adjustment parameters.

[0093] The box 1 has two guide devices 4 positioned opposite each other and located on either side of the flat element 31. As described previously, each guide device 4 comprises a connecting rod 6 mounted to rotate on an arm 32 of the opening 3, a guide 5 secured to the frame and return means 7 interposed between the arm 32 of the opening 3 and the connecting rod 6.

[0094] Each guide device 4 acts between one of the arms 32 of the opening 3 and the frame 2.

[0095] This makes it possible in particular to ensure identical guidance on either side of the opening 3, to prevent it from buckling, which would limit, or even prevent, its opening.

[0096] With reference to figures 4, 5, 6 and 7, the connecting rod 6 of the device 4 for guiding the opening 3 in translation has a first end 61 cooperating with the guide 5, and a second end 62 by which the connecting rod 6 is mounted for rotation on the opening 3, and more specifically on one of the arms 32.

[0097] As illustrated in Figures 4 to 6, the contact between the connecting rod 6 and the guide 5 is achieved by means of a bearing 611 secured to the first end of the connecting rod and sliding on the guide 5.

[0098] More precisely, the connecting rod 6 has a body 63 integrating the first end 61 and the second end 62, and a finger 64 extending from the body and to which the return means 7 are fixed. The body 63 and the finger 64 are preferably coplanar.

[0099] In other words, the body 63 and the finger 64 extend in the same plane, the connecting rod 6 is thus preferably made in a thin layer.

[0100] By thin layer, it is understood that the length and width of the connecting rod 6 are significantly greater than the thickness of the connecting rod 6.

[0101] In other words, the body 63 and the finger 64, or in other words the connecting rod 6, is for example produced by machining a block of metallic material, by cutting a metal sheet, or manufactured from plastic material and is relatively flat.

[0102] With reference to Figures 4 to 7, the return means 7 comprise at least one helical spring 71, and in this case, a single helical spring 71.

[0103] The helical spring 71 is made of a metallic material such as steel, or stainless steel for example.

[0104] This helical spring 71 is calibrated to exert a force of at least between 10N and 40N.

[0105] As described below, the helical spring 71 of the return means 7 is fixed on the one hand to the opening 3 and on the other hand to the connecting rod 6, and more particularly to a point of attachment 65 of the return means 7 on the connecting rod 6, located on the finger 64 of the connecting rod 6.

[0106] As illustrated in Figures 4 to 7, the helical spring 71 of the return means 7 is secured to the opening 3 by means of a support 9 having at least two attachment positions, namely a first attachment position and a second attachment position.

[0107] The first attachment position and the second attachment position thus define force thresholds applicable by the return means 7 on the connecting rod 6.

[0108] The first position and the second position generate, as explained below, a maximum force Fl and a minimum force F2 applied by the return means 7 on the connecting rod 6.

[0109] The support 9 thus comprises two pins 91 which define the first attachment position and the second attachment position 91 as illustrated in [Fig.5].

[0110] The helical spring 71 of the return means 7 then comprises a hook intended to cooperate with one of the pins 91.

[0111] The opening system also comprises means 11 for guiding the opening 3 in translation relative to the frame 2.

[0112] More particularly, the translational guide means 11 are applied between the arms 32 secured to the opening 3 and the frame 2.

[0113] The translational guide means 11 comprise at least one rail 12 and a carriage 13 mounted movably on the rail 12.

[0114] More particularly, the translational guide means 11 comprise two rails 12 and two carriages 13 each movable in translation on a rail 12.

[0115] One of the rail 12 and the carriage 13 is mounted integral with the opening 3 (and more particularly with the arms 32), while the other of the carriage 13 and the rail 12 is mounted integral with the frame 2.

[0116] More specifically, as illustrated schematically in Figures 4, 5, 6 and 7, each rail 12 is secured to the frame 2 and each carriage 13 is secured to an arm 32 of the opening 3.

[0117] During the translational movement of the opening 3 and more particularly of the arms 32, the rails 12 and the carriages 13 ensure perfect translation of the arms 32 and avoid any risk of arching of the opening 3 during its translation.

[0118] The translational movement of the opening 3 is thus ensured.

[0119] In operation, the opening 3 is therefore moved automatically and guided in its translational movement according to at least a first part of its total movement.

[0120] Thanks to the return means 7, the translational guidance of the opening 3 is made possible since the return means 7 can adopt: - an active configuration in which the return means 7 exert a force on the connecting rod 6 to drive it in rotation relative to the opening 3 and allow the movement of the opening 3 over a first part of its total movement, and - a neutral configuration in which the reaction of the connecting rod on the guide 5 decreases sharply on the portion 52 and therefore no longer allows it to be sufficient to ensure the translational movement of the opening; in fact, the second portion 52 almost completely neutralizes the force perpendicular to the first portion 51, because the counter-reaction force remains normal (perpendicular) to the point of contact of the bearing 611 on the second portion 52. In other words, the spring still exerts a force on the connecting rod, but the connecting rod no longer transmits this force perpendicular to the frame, this force being almost parallel to the building (according to the slope angle of 52).

[0121] As a result of the force exerted by the return means 7 on the connecting rod 6, the latter acts on the frame 2 by cooperation between the first end 61 of the connecting rod 6 (and more precisely the bearing 611) and the first portion 51 of the guide 5 as illustrated by figures 6 and 7. Here the value Fl of the force of the bearing 611 at the point of contact and perpendicular to the first portion 51 is maximum and proportional to the force exerted by the spring 71.

[0122] For the movement of the opening 3 over a second part of its total translational movement, the first end 61 of the connecting rod 6 (and more precisely the bearing 611) is guided on the second portion 52 of the guide 5, when the return means 7 are in their neutral position.

[0123] In other words, when the opening 3 is moved over the second part of its total movement, the return means 7 do not influence, or almost not (never, nothing, nobody), the translation of the opening 3. Thus, the value F2 of the force perpendicular to the first portion 51, at the level of the bearing 611 is minimal, or even zero or almost.

[0124] To activate the automatic raising or moving of the opening 3, the user acts on a switch 14, a push button or a touch zone of the frame 2 as illustrated in [Fig. 1].

[0125] This action makes it possible to unlock a locking system in the closed position of the opening 3 (not shown in the figures), the opening 3 then being able to move in translation relative to the frame 2.

[0126] When the opening 3 is free to translate, the return means 7 which are in their active configuration, exert their force until they recover their neutral configuration.

[0127] The helical spring 71 of the return means 7 acts on the connecting rod 6 to pivot the latter relative to the opening 3, so that the first end 61 of the connecting rod 6 follows a circular trajectory relative to the opening 3 (and more precisely to the arm 32 on which it is rotatably mounted), then causing, by cooperation with the first portion 51 of the guide 5, the translation of the arm 32 and therefore of the opening 3 according to the first part of its total displacement. This displacement then tends to move the opening 3 away from the guide 5, and therefore from the frame 2.

[0128] When the connecting rod 6 has traveled the first portion 51 of the guide 5, the return means 7 are in a neutral position and no longer exert any forces on the connecting rod 6, or almost.

[0129] The user can then grasp the opening 3 and complete the translational movement over its total displacement, the first end 61 of the connecting rod 6 then cooperating with the second portion 52 of the guide 5 without exerting any force on the guide 5 and therefore on the frame 2.

[0130] The movement of the opening 3 and the arms 32 is then not slowed by the connecting rod 6 of the device 4 for guiding the opening 3 in translation.

[0131] The opening system according to the invention, and more particularly the translational guiding device 4 of the opening 3 which has just been described, has numerous advantages.

[0132] Firstly, this guide device 4 makes it possible to carry out automatic opening on a first part of the translation of the opening 3, in a fluid manner and at constant speed, which reinforces a qualitative aspect of the opening system.

[0133] Secondly, this guidance device 4 is simple to operate, which allows for quick and easy maintenance.

[0134] Thirdly, this guide device 4 is also compact and therefore makes it possible to provide more storage space in the body of the box 1 (i.e. in the frame 2) than according to the prior art.

[0135] Finally, this guide device 4 is inexpensive and easy to manufacture and install.

[0136] It should be understood that in an opening system according to the invention which has two guide devices 4, the guide devices 4 may be identical, as shown in Figures 4 to 7, to optimize manufacturing costs, or even symmetrical to optimize the installation in the opening system. In other words, the guide device 4 must be interpreted in the broad sense, which includes in particular opening systems with more than two guide devices 4, two of which are arranged substantially at two ends of the opening.

[0137] In alternative embodiments, any return means can be used to obtain the desired function, in particular leaf springs, an elastic return element, made of elastomer for example, or any other return means known to those skilled in the art.
