AI Technical Summary
Existing systems for covering a motor vehicle's luggage compartment require costly reinforcement boxes made of molded plastic material to ensure robustness, increasing the overall cost.
The system uses mounting means in the form of two lateral straps with tubular-shaped articulation ends, which are associated with a textile sheet and attach to reciprocal L-shaped rods on the tailgate, eliminating the need for plastic reinforcement boxes.
This configuration reduces the system's cost by eliminating the need for plastic reinforcement boxes while maintaining robustness and ease of assembly.

Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: System for covering a luggage compartment of a motor vehicle
[0001] The invention relates to a system for covering a luggage compartment of a motor vehicle and a screen for such a system.
[0002] It is known to produce a system for covering a luggage compartment of a motor vehicle, said system comprising: • a screen for masking said compartment, said screen comprising: • a substantially rectangular peripheral frame having a rear side extending transversely, • a textile sheet mounted under tension inside said frame, • hinged mounting means along said rear side, • and a tailgate intended to be mounted in articulation along a transverse axis at the top of the body of said vehicle, so as to be able to be actuated between an open configuration and a closed configuration, said tailgate being provided with reciprocal means for receiving said articulation mounting means.
[0003] Such an arrangement is usually implemented in order to allow the screen to be positioned in a horizontal plane when the tailgate is in the closed configuration, said screen folding towards the tailgate when the latter is actuated to open, which allows access to the luggage compartment.
[0004] According to a known embodiment, the mounting means are formed by a portion of the frame not covered by the textile sheet, recesses being made in said sheet in order to release said portions, said portions fitting in a rotatable manner into reciprocal means provided on the tailgate, said reciprocal means being able to have a receiving part in the general shape of an elastically deformable lyre.
[0005] With such an arrangement, in order to ensure good robustness of the screen, it is usually provided to add reinforcement boxes made of molded plastic material in the areas of said screen where the mounting means are arranged, which generates a significant additional cost.
[0006] The invention aims to overcome this drawback.
[0007] To this end, and according to a first aspect, the invention proposes a system for covering a luggage compartment of a motor vehicle, said system comprising: • a screen for masking said compartment, said screen comprising: • a substantially rectangular peripheral frame having a rear side extending transversely, • a textile sheet mounted under tension inside said frame, • hinged mounting means along said rear side, • and a tailgate intended to be mounted in articulation along a transverse axis at the top of the body of said vehicle, so as to be able to be actuated between an open configuration and a closed configuration, said tailgate being provided with reciprocal means for receiving said mounting means,
[0008] said system furthermore having the following characteristics: • said mounting means are in the form of two straps arranged laterally on either side of said rear side and projecting towards the rear, each of said straps comprising a connecting end associated with said sheet and a tubular-shaped articulation end extending transversely, • said reciprocal means are in the form of two rods, said rods each having a general L shape defining a segment for attachment to said tailgate projecting longitudinally and a transverse segment inserted into said articulation end, one of said rods being the image of the other of said rods by transverse translation so that the mounting of said screen is carried out by placing the transverse segments opposite each of the corresponding articulation ends and transverse translation of said screen allowing the introduction of said transverse segments into said articulation ends.
[0009] In this description, the terms of positioning in space (longitudinal, transverse, vertical, lateral, front, rear, etc.) are taken with reference to the vehicle in which the system is arranged, the tailgate being in the closed configuration, said vehicle projecting longitudinally along its length (X axis), transversely along its width (Y axis) and vertically along its height (Z axis).
[0010] With the proposed arrangement, the mounting means are in the form of simple straps associated with the sheet, in particular by sewing or welding as will be seen later, which is much less expensive than providing for the mounting of boxes made of molded plastic material such as known from the prior art.
[0011] According to a second aspect, the invention provides a screen of such a system.
[0012] Other features and advantages of the invention will appear in the following description, given with reference to the attached figures, in which:
[0013] [Fig-1] is a longitudinal schematic forward view of a system according to a realization, the tailgate being in open configuration,
[0014] [Fig.2] is a partial perspective schematic detail view of the system shown in [Fig.l], the mounting means not receiving the reciprocal means so that the screen is not mounted on the tailgate.
[0015] With reference to the figures, a system 1 for covering a luggage compartment of a motor vehicle is described, said system comprising: • a screen 2 for masking said compartment, said screen comprising: • a peripheral frame 3 - for example based on metal wire folded back on itself - substantially rectangular having a rear side 4 extending transversely, • a textile sheet 5 mounted under tension inside said frame - said sheet having in particular a peripheral hem for receiving said frame -, • mounting means 6 in articulation along said rear side, • and a tailgate 7 intended to be mounted in articulation along a transverse axis 14 at the top of the body of said vehicle, so as to be able to be actuated between an open configuration and a closed configuration, said tailgate being provided with reciprocal means 8 for receiving said mounting means,
[0016] said system furthermore having the following characteristics: • said mounting means are in the form of two straps arranged laterally on either side of said rear side and projecting towards the rear, each of said straps comprising a connecting end 9 associated with said sheet and an articulation end 10 of tubular shape extending transversely, • said reciprocal means are in the form of two rods, said rods each having a general L shape defining a segment 11 for attachment to said tailgate projecting longitudinally and a transverse segment 12 inserted into said articulation end, one of said rods being the image of the other of said rods by transverse translation so that the mounting of said screen is done by placing the transverse segments 12 opposite each of the corresponding articulation ends 10 and transverse translation of said screen allowing the introduction of said transverse segments into said articulation ends.
[0017] According to the embodiment shown, the transverse segments 12 have free ends 13 forming a longitudinally projecting return and projecting from the articulation ends 10, so as to allow said transverse segments to be held in said articulation ends.
[0018] According to one embodiment, the straps 6 are made of textile material, the articulation end 10 being produced by folding a strap 6 on itself and sewing to define the tubular shape.
[0019] According to various embodiments, the straps 6 are fixed to the sheet 5 by sewing or by welding.
[0020] Finally, a screen 2 of such a system 1 is described, said screen comprising: • a substantially rectangular peripheral frame 3 having a rear side 4 extending transversely, • a textile sheet 5 mounted under tension inside said frame, • mounting means 6 in articulation along said rear side,
[0021] said mounting means being in the form of two straps arranged laterally on either side of said rear side and projecting towards the rear, each of said straps comprising a connecting end 9 associated with said sheet and an articulation end 10 of tubular shape extending transversely.
