Description

Title of the invention: CABLE TRAY SUPPORT SYSTEM

[0001] The present invention relates to a cable tray support system.

[0002] A cable tray is normally made up of several sections connected together and supported by consoles extending transversely to the development of the cable tray.

[0003] Normally, each console consists of a piece sized according to the width of the section of the cable tray to be supported.

[0004] The consoles are therefore provided in different sizes, for example 100 mm, 200 mm, 300 mm, 400 mm, etc.

[0005] [Fig. 11] illustrates a traditional type of console.

[0006] EP1736075B1 describes a cable tray system comprising consoles of a single piece.

[0007] EP2378620B1 relates to a means of fixing a wire mesh cable tray to the console, which is a single piece.

[0008] The traditional systems mentioned above require the use of consoles sized according to the width of the cable tray, therefore the offer of consoles must be studied in advance in order to obtain the appropriate product.

[0009] Concretely, the installer must determine in advance the necessary console equipment based on the dimensions of the paths and their extension.

[0010] This involves long and arduous work, especially for small installers who must consider sourcing the product from wholesalers.

[0011] The present invention aims to provide a cable tray support system which overcomes the drawbacks of the aforementioned known technique.

[0012] Within the scope of this task, an object of the invention is to provide a support system which can be easily and quickly adapted to the dimensions of any cable tray used.

[0013] An objective of the invention is to provide a support system which can reduce the time required to prepare the equipment to be installed.

[0014] An important objective of the invention is to provide a support system which makes it possible to reduce the costs of production and installation of the paths.

[0015] Another objective of the present invention is to produce a system capable of offering the broadest possible guarantees in terms of reliability and safety of use.

[0016] A further objective of the present invention is to provide a structure which is easily achievable using commercially available elements and materials and which is also economically competitive.

[0017] These objectives, and others which will become more apparent hereinafter, are achieved by the cable tray support system, comprising a module associated with a support element and being capable of supporting a cable tray element; said module being able to support one or more additional modules, by adapting the dimensions of the system to the dimensions of said cable tray element.

[0018] Preferably, each of said modules comprises fixing means.

[0019] Preferably, said fixing means comprise hooks arranged on a first end of a module and adapted to be fixed in shaped edges formed on a second end of an adjacent module.

[0020] Preferably, the system comprises a base module having a horizontal profiled edge adapted to engage a support element.

[0021] Preferably, said modules comprise grooves adapted to accommodate path fixing elements.

[0022] Other features and advantages become apparent from the description of the preferred, but not exclusive, embodiments of the invention, illustrated in a non-limiting manner in the accompanying drawings, in which:

[0023] [Fig-1] [Fig. 1] is a perspective view illustrating a portion of a cable tray equipped with the support system according to the present invention;

[0024] [Fig.2] [Fig.2] is a partially exploded view of the portion of the cable tray of the preceding figure;

[0025] [Fig.3] [Fig.3] is a perspective view illustrating the support system without the cable tray portion;

[0026] [Fig.4] [Fig.4] is a partial perspective view of the support system of the preceding figures;

[0027] [Fig.5] [Fig.5] is a perspective view illustrating a basic module and an additional module of the system according to the invention;

[0028] [Fig.6] [Fig.6] is a perspective view illustrating a module;

[0029] [Fig.7] [Fig.7] is an exploded perspective view illustrating a basic module and two additional modules of the system according to the invention;

[0030] [Fig.8] [Fig.8] is a perspective view illustrating the base module and the additional modules of the preceding figure in an assembled state;

[0031] [Fig.9] [Fig.9] is a perspective view illustrating a portion of cable tray equipped with the support system according to another aspect of the invention;

[0032] [Fig. 10] [Fig. 10] is a perspective view of a module fixed to the wall;

[0033] [Fig. 11] [Fig. 11] is a perspective view of a support console according to the known technique.

[0034] With regard to the cited figures, the cable tray support system according to the invention, indicated overall by the reference number 1, comprises a module 11 associated with a support element 20 and capable of supporting a cable tray element 30, 31.

[0035] The module 11 is capable of supporting one or more modules 11 to adapt the dimensions of the system to the dimensions of the cable tray element 30, 31.

[0036] Each module 11 comprises reciprocal fixing means consisting, in this case, of hooks 12, arranged on a first end of a module 11 and capable of fixing corresponding shaped edges 13, formed on a second end of an adjacent module 11.

[0037] The system also comprises a base module 10 which has a special horizontal profiled edge 14 for engaging a support element 19, for example a dowel for direct fixing to a wall.

[0038] The modules 10, 11 have suitable grooves 15 capable of receiving elements for fixing the paths 30, 31.

[0039] The support system is installed by fixing the module 11 to the support, consisting, for example, of the support element 20, or a base module 10 fixed to a wall by means of a dowel 19, and joining one or more additional modules 11, making an extension console suitable for the width of paths 30, 31.

[0040] The modules are preferably of the same length, in this case 100 mm, and it is therefore possible to combine them to obtain a console of the desired length, 100, 200, 300, 400 mm, and more.

[0041] The base module 10, or a module 11, is the first module of the console to be fixed to the support and, if the dimensions of the path are reduced, it can be the only module of each console.

[0042] The additional module can be combined with a rail or other structural element to compose suspended or cantilevered supports with several levels of consoles, as illustrated in [Fig.9].

[0043] It has been found in practice that the invention makes it possible to achieve the pre-set duty and objectives having produced a modular system for the support of cable trays.

[0044] According to the present invention, it is possible to add one module to another by forming each console in the dimensions suitable for the cable tray to be supported.

[0045] The present invention saves the installer the work of preparation and design by avoiding him having to worry about the dimensions and the number of consoles to be brought to the site.

[0046] Naturally, the materials used, as well as the dimensions, can be chosen according to the needs and the state of the art.
