AI Technical Summary

Technical Problem

Existing devices either facilitate the process of putting a duvet into its cover or maintain the duvet in place during use, but none simultaneously perform both functions effectively, leading to user difficulties in handling and keeping the duvet and cover together.

Method used

The duvet kit includes triangular fabric fasteners with buttonholes sewn into the duvet cover's corners and buttons on the duvet's corners, allowing the duvet to be easily slipped under the fasteners and secured, making it simple to put the duvet in the cover and keep it in place during use.

Benefits of technology

This solution allows for easy and quick placement of the duvet into its cover, ensuring it remains securely in place throughout its use cycle, addressing user complaints about handling and maintaining the duvet and cover.

Abstract

Device for securing a duvet in a duvet cover. The invention relates to a device for securing a duvet in a duvet cover, designed to facilitate the putting on of the duvet and its retention in the cover during a cycle of use in the bed. The device consists of two elements: triangular fabric fasteners provided with a buttonhole, which are sewn into the corners of the duvet cover, on the reverse side thereof, and buttons which are sewn onto the duvet, in the corners, opposite the center of the buttonhole of the corresponding fastener. The device according to the invention is intended to equip duvet covers and duvets for private customers (homes), or professional customers (hotels).

Description

Title of the invention: the duvet kit

[0001] The present invention relates to a device for securing a duvet in a duvet cover, designed to facilitate both putting them on and keeping them together during their cycle of use in the bed.

[0002] Currently, there are devices that make it easier to put the duvet into its cover, and devices that allow a duvet that has already been put into it to be correctly held in the cover. There is no overall device that allows these two functions to be performed simultaneously, knowing that the main criticism made by users of duvets with covers relates precisely to the difficulties of handling and holding the whole thing in place.

[0003] Devices facilitating the putting on consist of external devices which are fixed on a support (a door for example) to accommodate the cover and allow the duvet to be positioned inside, in the two upper corners of the cover (those opposite its opening), the two lower corners then being put in place by hand. We can also find covers provided with a small opening in the two upper corners allowing the corresponding corners of the duvet to be grasped and held during putting on.

[0004] The devices facilitating maintenance consist of external fasteners which clip, slide or pin depending on the model, in the four corners, in order to fix the cover and duvet together during their use cycle. They must be removed before removing the cover.

[0005] The device according to the invention makes it easier to put the duvet into the cover, then keep it there during the cycle of use in the bed, while being invisible from the outside.

[0006] The device consists of two elements: triangular fabric fasteners provided with a buttonhole, which are sewn into the corners of the duvet cover, on the reverse side thereof, and buttons which are sewn onto the duvet, in the corners, facing the center of the buttonhole of the corresponding fastener.

[0007] The method of use is then as follows: the duvet cover is placed on the bed, facing the wrong way, with the fasteners on top, then the duvet is placed, with the buttons also on top, then each corner of the duvet is slipped under the corresponding fastener to button it. The cover can then be turned over to cover the duvet. The cover / duvet corners being held in place during this operation by the buttoning, this action becomes simple and quick.

[0008] [Fig-1] describes the making of the fabric fastener.

[0009] [Fig.2] describes its attachment to the cover.

[0010] With reference to these drawings, the fabric fastener consists of a 10 cm square of white cotton (1), folded diagonally to obtain an isosceles right triangle, to be ironed (2). The sides adjacent to the right angle are then overlocked (3). The buttonhole, 20 mm long, is made along a straight line joining the right angle of the triangle and the middle of the opposite diagonal, and starts 5 mm from the edge of the diagonal (4). It will be opened with a seam ripper or fine scissors. The buttons sewn into the corners of the quilt will be 20 mm in diameter (5).

[0011] The attachment of the fastener in the corner of the duvet cover, on its reverse side, can be done using several methods. The fastener can be sewn by machine (6) or by hand (7) along the existing seam line of the cover. The fastener can be ironed using rectangles of double-sided iron-on adhesive placed between the cover and the fastener (8). The fastener can even be stapled with stainless steel staples along the seam line (9).

[0012] The descriptions provided are suitable for the retrospective fixing of the fasteners on a cover already owned by its user. In the case of fixing the fasteners by a manufacturer on a new cover during its creation, the prior overlocking of these may be optional, if the manufacturing process provides for simultaneous overlocking of the fasteners and the duvet.

[0013] The invention may therefore be available either in the form of a complete kit (fasteners, buttons and instructions provided) to be installed by the user on their existing bed linen, or via fasteners integrated into the new duvet covers placed on the market, the user then only having to buy and sew the buttons onto their duvet if necessary.

Claims
