Medical device for maintaining airway patency

Abstract

The invention relates to a medical device (1) for maintaining the patency of the respiratory tract, comprising a longitudinal guide (2) extending along a curved path; gripping means (3) connected to a proximal end (21) of said guide (2) and a member (4) comprising a spatula shaped complementary to the lingual anatomy and mounted at a distal end (20); characterized in that said member (4) is movable in displacement relative to said guide (2) from a retracted position, in which the spatula of said member (4) extends along said path of said guide (2), to a deployed position, in which said member (4) extends lower in projection relative to said guide (2), and vice versa. Said medical device (1) further comprises means (5) for controlling the displacement of said member (4) between the retracted and deployed positions.The invention also relates to a respiratory assistance system (10) equipped with such a device (1).
