Description
Title of the invention: Self-locking door stop
[0001] The present invention is an essentially mechanical device which allows a door to be locked in its fully open position and also serves as a stop preventing the door handle from coming into contact with the wall.
[0002] The device, which is the subject of the present invention, is remarkable in that it allows the door to be locked by a simple pressure anywhere on it or on its handle.
[0003] One embodiment of the invention is described below by way of example.
[0004] Figure 1 is a view of the internal mechanism with the locking mechanism not engaged, and Figure 2 is its top view. Figure 3 shows the mechanism in the locked position. Figure 4 shows the device housing mounted on the wall mounting rail. Figure 5 is the top view of this mounting.
[0005] The device comprises, [Fig. 1] and [Fig. 2], a faceted rotor 1 supporting a cam triangular 2 and moved by the push blade 3 mounted on a slide 4 and supported by a bracket 5. The push blade is operated by a pull handle 6.
[0006] When the door 7 is pushed towards the wall to open it fully and lock it, it pushes the pull 6 which then activates the slide 4. The blade 3 pushes the rotor 1 which activates the follower 8 driving the latch 9 which comes out of its housing 10 trapping the door 7.
[0007] A further press on the door or its handle unlocks the device, [Fig.3]. The door pushes in the pull tab 6 which actuates the triangular cam 2 and allows the follower 8, located at the top of the cam and held against the stop by the spiral spring and its pivot 11, to return the latch 9, thus releasing the door 7.
[0008] A knee joint 12 with friction and spring-adjustable tension compensates for the removal of the device fixed to the wall, in which case one would pull hard on the door while the device is in the locking position.
[0009] The mechanism can be disengaged by rotating the stop 13 a quarter turn, which prevents the pull tab 6 from moving, by positioning it behind the stop. This action locks the latch in the extended or retracted position.
[0010] The wall fixing, [Fig.4] and [Fig.5], is achieved by a slide 14 pivoting on two axes 15 allowing the door to be aligned with the device housing and also allowing the distance between the door and the wall to be adjusted in relation to the dimensions of the handle of said door.
[0011] The locking and unlocking of the door can be carried out by adults as well as by children and by people in wheelchairs.
[0012] The device is suitable for all doors of standard thickness. Other dimensions are irrelevant. It is essentially mechanical and has no energy source. The shape of the door handle has no impact on the operation of the mechanism. The device has a disengageable pivot button 13 for manual operation.

Device for locking a door in its fully open position and also serves as a stop comprising a faceted rotor 1 supporting a triangular cam 2 and moved by a push blade 3 mounted on a slide 4 and supported by a bracket 5 and whose push blade is operated by a pull 6 pulling the slide 4 whose blade 3 pushes the rotor 1 which actuates the follower 8 driving the latch 9 which comes out of its housing 10 trapping the door 7.
2. Device according to claim 1 characterized in that the device can be disengaged by means of a pivot button 13 to be operated manually.
3. Device according to claim 1 characterized in that it comprises a wall fixing system having a pivoting slide 14.
