Abstract
Description
Title of the invention: Cosmetic applicator for applying fibers to human keratinous materials. Technical field
[0001] The present invention relates to a cosmetic applicator for applying fibers to human keratinous materials, particularly eyelashes, eyebrows, hair fibers, skin, eyelids, and scalp. The invention further relates to a method for applying fibers to an area of human keratinous materials. Prior art
[0002] Many people wish to make their eyes more striking, and to do so, increase the number of eyelashes. Solutions exist such as false eyelash clips or small strips of false eyelashes. However, these solutions give an artificial appearance.
[0003] Another solution is to go to a specialized salon to have individual eyelash extensions applied. The technician applies the first lash using tweezers and a fiber, to the end of which she places a droplet of fast-drying adhesive (usually ethyl cyanoacrylate). She then brings the fiber close to another lash, waits for the adhesive to set, and releases the tweezers. Applying one fiber takes about one minute. Thus, to apply 50 fibers to each lash strip, the procedure takes about two hours. The treatment is arduous for the technician, who must concentrate for two hours. It is also very expensive due to the time involved. Therefore, this solution is not suitable for many people who lack the time or resources to have it done.
[0004] Furthermore, another problem can arise when applying curved fibers. Indeed, when individual fibers are deposited onto the eyelashes, if these fibers are curved, they can rotate and adhere to the lash line without any alignment with the lashes. Even if the fibers are parallel to each other, they are not parallel to the natural lashes. The resulting look is unsightly.
[0005] There is a need for a quick and cheap solution for laying fibers on human keratinous materials which allows the fibers to be positioned substantially aligned with neighboring human keratinous fibers. Description of the invention Applicator
[0006] The present invention thus relates, according to one aspect, to a cosmetic applicator for applying fibers to human keratinous materials, comprising a number n of fibers carried by a support element so as to be able to separate from the support element during application, these n fibers having a portion extending forward of the supporting organ before the separation of the supporting organ, these n fibers comprising at least one group of at most m fibers linked together outside the supporting organ, with m<n et m> L.
[0007] Thanks to the invention, an applicator is provided that allows at least some of the fibers to be grouped into sets of at least two interconnected fibers. This prevents the fibers from rotating during application. The deposited fibers can thus be aligned with natural fibers, for example, eyelashes.
[0008] The m fibers are preferably connected to each other at their ends.
[0009] At least two of the m fibers can be joined together by gluing, welding or fusion.
[0010] At least two of the m fibers can be formed by folding a single filament. In this case, it is sufficient to fold the filament to obtain a group of two fibers.
[0011] In at least one group, the fibers can be connected to each other by an element external to the fibers. This external element is then attached to the fibers of the group to connect them. This can be a U-shaped jumper to whose arms the fibers of the group are attached.
[0012] The number m of fibers in at least one group, better in each group, is preferably exactly equal to two. In this case and in the case where the fibers are connected to each other at their end, the shape of each group of two fibers can have a V shape, the connection between the two fibers being point-like at the connected end of the fibers, or a U shape with a non-point-like connection at the connected end of the fibers.
[0013] At least some of the fibers may have a non-zero curvature. In particular, all the fibers may have a non-zero curvature.
[0014] At least two fibers, particularly within the same group, may have different non-zero curvatures. Conversely, at least two fibers, particularly within the same group, may have similar non-zero curvatures.
[0015] At least part of the fibers may have zero curvature and be straight.
[0016] The linked ends of two groups of fibers can cross.
[0017] The unbonded ends of at least two of the m fibers are advantageously maintained at least 1 mm apart on the support element. In this case, and when the fibers are connected to each other by an element external to the fibers, and they have similar non-zero curvatures, then they are substantially parallel to each other, the external element allowing the connected ends of the fibers to be separated by the same distance as the separation distance of the fibers from the unconnected ends of the fibers.
[0018] The support element can temporarily retain the fibers by means of a mechanical system comprising one or more parts that are movable relative to each other, the mechanical system being configured to switch from a fiber retention configuration to a fiber release configuration, the force to be exerted on these fibers to release them from the application element being greater in the retention configuration than in the release configuration.
[0019] Alternatively, the fiber support element comprises at least one channel into which a fiber is inserted, this channel being defined by at least one portion entirely surrounding the fiber in cross-section and having at least one end stop limiting the insertion of the fiber. Process
[0020] The invention also relates, according to another aspect, to a method of applying fibers to an area of human keratinous materials, using a cosmetic applicator as defined above, the method comprising the following steps: a. Apply a first adhesive composition to at least part of the fibers and / or to said area, b. place at least one group of fibers carried by the support element in contact with said area, c. move the support organ away from said area so that the fibers adhere to said area.
[0021] Said zone is for example made up of keratin fibers such as eyelashes, eyebrows, hair, hair fibers, and / or the eyelid, facial skin, scalp or skull.
[0022] The process may further include the step of applying a second adhesive composition to at least part of the fibers adhering to said area.
[0023] All the steps of the process can be carried out by the user, which is a cost advantage. Another advantage of the invention is that the operation can be performed by an expert because, despite the additional cost involved, the long lifespan obtained (which can reach, for example, 15 days) keeps the cost moderate, relative to the duration of the performance.
[0024] The process may include the step of drying the first adhesive composition after step a) applying the first adhesive composition. In this case, the drying step may last between 30 seconds and 20 minutes, in particular between 1 and 10 minutes, or even between 1 and 5 minutes. Step b) may only be carried out after the first adhesive composition has at least partially dried.
[0025] The process may include the step of combing at least part of the fibers adhering to said area, if necessary, during the setting of the second adhesive composition.
[0026] The method may include the step of applying a makeup composition to the eyelashes and / or eyebrows of said area and the attached fibers, in particular a mascara. This step is advantageously carried out at the end of the process, after the fibers have been applied.
[0027] The process may include the step of curling all or part of the eyelashes and / or eyebrows in said area and the attached fibers, in particular using a heating device. This step advantageously takes place at the end of the process, after the fibers have been applied, for example, immediately after the application of the second adhesive composition, if applicable.
[0028] In the implementation of the process according to the invention, the fibers, the first adhesive composition, the second adhesive composition and the applicator can be as defined below. Together
[0029] The present invention also relates, according to another of its aspects, to an assembly for the implementation of the process as defined above, comprising, in particular within the same packaging device, the first adhesive composition, the cosmetic applicator and possibly the second adhesive composition.
[0030] The set may also include at least one of the following accessories: a mascara applicator, an eyelash curler, an eyelash and / or eyebrow comb or any other eyelash or eyebrow care or makeup accessory.
[0031] The assembly can be contained in a single hermetically sealed package before use.
[0032] In the assembly according to the invention, the fibers, the first adhesive composition, the second adhesive composition, and the applicator may be as defined below. Fibers
[0033] The term “fiber” is to be understood according to the invention as meaning an object of length L and diameter D such that L is greater than D and preferably much greater than D, D being the diameter of the circle in which the largest cross-section of the fiber is inscribed. In particular, the L / D ratio (or aspect ratio) is chosen from the range of values from 3.5 to 2500, preferably from 10 to 1000, and even better from 20 to 500.
[0034] The fibers can be chosen from natural fibers and synthetic fibers, including polyamide, for example Nylon®.
[0035] The fibers may be mineral or organic. They may be long or short, individual or organized, for example braided, and hollow or solid. They may have any shape, for example curved or substantially straight, preferably curved. In particular, they may have a circular or polygonal (square, hexagonal, or octagonal) cross-section. In particular, their unbonded end may be blunt and / or smoothed to prevent injury.
[0036] The fibers may be those used in the manufacture of textiles, and in particular silk, cotton, wool, linen fibers, cellulose fibers, especially those extracted from wood, plants or algae, rayon fibers, polyamide (Nylon®), viscose fibers, acetate fibers, in particular rayon acetate fibers, acrylic polymer fibers, in particular polymethyl methacrylate fibers, or poly (2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) fibers, polyolefin fibers and in particular polyethylene or polypropylene fibers, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fibers, polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) fibers, glass fibers, silica fibers, carbon fibers, in particular carbon fibers in the form of graphite, polytetrafluoroethylene fibers (such as Teflon®), insoluble collagen fibers, polyester fibers, polyvinyl chloride or polyvinylidene chloride fibers, poly (vinyl alcohol) fibers, polyacrylonitrile fibers, chitosan fibers, polyurethane fibers, polyethylene phthalate fibers, or fibers formed from a mixture of polymers such as those mentioned above, for example, polyamide / polyester fibers.
[0037] The fibers may be human fibers.
[0038] In addition, the fibers can be surface treated and / or coated with a protective layer or a layer intended to give them a color.
[0039] Flame-retardant acrylic fibres of the brand "Kanekalon" can be used.
[0040] The fibres are for example those sold under the reference Minke-props SKINTEX Flock ref. 590502.
[0041] It is possible to use identical fibers or, alternatively, a mixture of fibers that differ from one another in length, cross-section, material, shape, and / or cross-section. The use of fibers of different lengths can provide a more natural appearance. The same applies to a mixture of colors. In a particular embodiment, the applicator may comprise a mixture of different colored fibers. The fiber colors may be mixed in an organized or random manner. Different colors or color combinations in the fibers can be implemented without departing from the scope of the invention. Fibers producing special effects, such as transparent and / or glossy fibers, may also be included. This can create new aesthetic effects on the eyelashes.
[0042] The fibers can have a length of between approximately 0.5 mm and 20 mm.
[0043] The fibers, for example, have a larger diameter between 20 pm and 200 µm µm, specifically between approximately 50 and 200 µm. The diameter may or may not be constant along the fiber. The fibers may have a tapered shape.
[0044] The weight or count of the fiber yarn is generally given in deniers or decitex and represents the weight in grams per 9 km of yarn. For example, the fibers have a unit count between 0.1 and 100 deniers, preferably between 1 and 70 deniers, and even better between 5 and 60 deniers. Applicator
[0045] The applicator is advantageously configured such that the support member Temporarily retains the fiber bundles before their application. The support element is designed so that the fibers it carries adhere to the initial adhesive composition upon contact and detach from the support element. Applicator comprising at least one channel
[0046] The applicator comprises a support member temporarily carrying at least one A group of fibers to be placed on human keratinous materials, particularly for thickening and / or lengthening eyelashes and / or eyebrows. The support structure may include at least one channel into which a fiber of a group is inserted; this channel is defined by at least one portion that completely surrounds the fiber in cross-section and has at least one end stop limiting the insertion of the fiber.
[0047] In this case, the applicator advantageously comprises a plurality of channels Each applicator contains a fiber, at least some of which are typically between 2 and 50 channels, ideally between 10 and 50. The applicator can have multiple channels, only some of which contain a fiber, depending on the areas of eyelashes or eyebrows to be thickened or lengthened. Alternatively, all channels can contain a fiber.
[0048] The inner diameter of each channel is preferably greater than the largest diameter of the fiber it contains. Preferably, the ratio Dc / Df between the channel diameter Dc and the largest fiber diameter Df is between 1.5 and 10. If the Dc / Df ratio is greater than 10, the applicator preferably includes a means for retaining each fiber. This retaining means prevents the fibers from sliding uncontrollably within the channels. The retaining means may include a narrowing of the channel such that, at the narrowing, the Dc / Df ratio is less than 10. The retaining means may also include an activatable system that clamps the fibers in a portion of the channel. The retaining means may also include an anti-slip material disposed within the channel, along all or part of its length.
[0049] The channels can be formed within an elastomeric material, in particular a material with a Shore A hardness of 0 to 50, preferably from 8 to 40.
[0050] The elastomeric material gives the applicator flexibility such that a user can pinch or deform the applicator to hold the fibers in place, then release the pressure or twist to allow the fibers to move and leaving their respective channels. The elastomeric material can be chosen from the group consisting of silicones such as Platsil - Silicone Gel from Polytec, rubbers resulting from vinyl polymerization with crosslinking, and thermoplastic elastomeric polymers (TPEs), generally composed of chains with two blocks such as polyurethane TPEs (with an isocyanate block and an ether / ester block), TPE-E (with a polyester block and a polyether block), TPE-C (with a polyamide block and a polyether block), and TPE-S (with a styrene block and a polybutadiene, polyisoprene, or polyethylene block). Such a material advantageously provides a non-slip feel, which retains the fiber at least somewhat in the channel, preventing it from accidentally slipping out, without requiring adhesive for this retention. This retention is preferably minimal, allowing the fiber to be easily removed from the channel when desired.
[0051] At least one channel can be closed in section along its entire length.
[0052] At least one channel can be opened in section over a portion of its length less than its total length and over a portion of its circumference less than its total circumference.
[0053] At least some of the channels may be of identical shape. In particular, all the channels of the applicator may be of identical shape.
[0054] At least some of the channels may be of different shapes.
[0055] The channels may or may not have the same shape as the fibers. If the Dc / Df ratio is less than 3, the channels preferentially have the same shape as the fibers. Conversely, if the Dc / Df ratio is greater than 10, then the channels preferentially have a different shape from the fibers. This difference in shape can hold the fibers in place to prevent them from sliding naturally, particularly under the effect of gravity.
[0056] The channels can be defined by tubes. In this case, the applicator preferably includes at least one link connecting the tubes together. This link constitutes, for example, a flexible joint between the tubes so as to allow the orientation of one tube relative to an adjacent tube to be changed. Alternatively, the link is designed to limit movement between the tubes, or even to prevent movement between them. The link may allow the tubes to be assembled by snapping them together.
[0057] In a particular embodiment, the channels are formed within a monolithic part. The end stop can be formed by a portion of this part.
[0058] Each channel preferably houses a single fiber from a group, when it houses one.
[0059] The fiber(s) may protrude from the channel, through an open outlet thereon, by a length greater than or equal to 1 mm, this length being possible for two different fibers. The bond between fibers of the same fiber group is formed in this length outside the channel.
[0060] The channels are for example arranged in a fan shape, in particular when formed in a monolithic piece or when formed by tubes connected to each other.
[0061] The end stop can be movable relative to the channel exit through which the fiber emerges. The end stop is, for example, formed by a portion of a monolithic part in which the channels are formed, as mentioned above. It can be adjustable if necessary.
[0062] The applicator may comprise several substantially identical and uniformly distributed channels, for example arranged in a fan shape, each channel housing a fiber. This configuration is particularly recommended for eyelash fringes with sparse lashes.
[0063] For incomplete eyelashes, with one or more bare patches, the applicator can be of various shapes. For example, the applicator can be wide enough to cover only part of the eyelashes. Alternatively, the applicator can cover the entire eyelashes with a plurality of channels, but only some of them contain a fiber, opposite one or more bare patches of the eyelashes. Or, the applicator can cover the entire eyelashes with a plurality of channels, each filled with a fiber, the applicator having a means for allowing only the fibers that will be added to the eyelashes to protrude from the channels, over the bare patches of the eyelashes. Alternatively, the applicator can cover the entire eyelashes with a plurality of channels, each filled with a fiber, the applicator having a means for preventing the release of channels that will not be opposite a bare patch of the eyelashes. In another variant, the applicator can cover the entire lash line with a plurality of channels, each filled with a fiber. The applicator includes a means of preventing the release of fibers that are not adjacent to a bare area of the lash line. Among the means that can be used to prevent this release are blocking the fibers by pinching them, for example, or by introducing a drop of glue into the tubes. In another embodiment, the applicator can cover the entire lash line with a number of channels limited to those that will be adjacent to a bare area of the lash line during the application of the procedure. Fiber-retaining applicator
[0064] Alternatively, the support member of the applicator can temporarily retain groups of fibers, in particular by bonding, by friction or by a mechanical system.
[0065] Such a mechanical system may comprise one or more parts that are movable relative to each other, for example the arms of a clamp or the coils of a spring, the mechanical system being configured to move from one configuration fiber retention to a fiber release configuration of groups, the force to be exerted on these fibers to release them from the applicator being greater in the retention configuration than in the release configuration.
[0066] The mechanical system includes, for example, a spring that grips the fibers between its coils. In the retention configuration, the spring can be stretched to open the coils and release the fibers. The fibers can be retained between the coils of the spring, the fibers being substantially perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the spring. The spring can be manually actuated between the retention and release configurations. The spring may include ends attached to manually operated actuating levers. Alternatively, the spring is compressed or released along its longitudinal axis, which may be the longitudinal axis of the applicator. The applicator may include, for example, a push button and two stops near the two ends of the spring. One stop is preferably movable about the longitudinal axis when the push button is actuated, while the other stop is preferably stationary.
[0067] Alternatively, the fibers may be retained on the applicator by at least one material whose mechanical resistance is degraded by a stimulus, the method consisting of subjecting the applicator to this stimulus in order to reduce the force required to release the fibers from the applicator, exposure to the stimulus occurring before and / or during contact of the fibers with the first adhesive composition present on the eyelashes, eyebrows, or hair fibers. The stimulus is, for example, thermal, said material then preferably comprising a wax, in particular beeswax, candelilla wax, or paraffin. Alternatively, the stimulus is chemical and comprises exposing the applicator to a solvent of said material, preferably water.
[0068] The fibers can be placed on the applicator by an electrostatic flocking process.
[0069] The fibers can detach completely from the applicator during the application of the method. Alternatively, the fibers may comprise a base at the first tip portion that remains trapped by the applicator and a releaseable portion that is released. In this case, the fibers may have a predefined area that is mechanically weakened or sensitive to a stimulus that weakens it mechanically, in particular a thermal or chemical stimulus, the force required to cause separation of the releaseable portion from the root being less than the adhesion force for the releaseable portion to adhere to the first adhesive composition. The predefined area may be located in the same position along the length of the fiber for all fibers. Alternatively, this is not the case, which allows, after release, for fibers of varying lengths, capable of producing different aesthetic effects on the eyelashes.
[0070] The fibers can be retained on the applicator by a multi-retaining system, comprising a first retaining system that releases the fibers with an applied force lower than the adhesion force required for the fibers to adhere to the first adhesive composition, and a second retaining system that, when combined with the first, ensures the retention of the fibers up to a force greater than the adhesion force required for the fibers to adhere to the first adhesive composition. The second system is modified during the use of the applicator to apply the fibers to the first adhesive composition so as to reduce the force required to release the fibers to a value lower than the adhesion force required for the fibers to adhere to the first adhesive composition. The modification may include exposing the second retaining system to a thermal or chemical stimulus.
[0071] The applicator can retain the fibers in such a way that the latter detach from the applicator when a tensile force equal to 15 mN, or even equal to 20 mN, is exerted on it. First adhesive composition
[0072] The first adhesive composition is advantageously designed to allow the adhesion of the fibers to an area of human keratinous materials such as the skin, eyelid, scalp or to keratinous fibers.
[0073] The first adhesive composition is advantageously suitable for application on eyelashes and eyelids, skin, scalp, as well as for cosmetic use.
[0074] The first adhesive composition comprises or is made up of an adhesive material.
[0075] For the purposes of the present invention, the term "material" means a polymer or a polymeric system that may comprise one or more polymers of different types. This adhesive material may be in the form of a polymer solution or a dispersion of polymer particles in a solvent. This adhesive material may further contain a plasticizer. This adhesive material must have a certain tackiness defined by its viscoelastic properties.
[0076] The adhesive materials according to the invention can, for example, be chosen from pressure-sensitive adhesives, for example those mentioned in the "Handbook of Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Technology", 3rd edition, D. Satas.
[0077] The adhesive material can be chosen from acrylic polymers or copolymers.
[0078] Pressure-sensitive adhesive materials can be selected from acrylic polymers, including acrylate and methacrylate copolymers, rubber-based pressure-sensitive adhesives or styrene copolymer-based pressure-sensitive adhesives, such as styrene-isoprene-styrene (SIS) and styrene-butadiene-styrene (SBS) copolymers.
[0079] Examples of suitable acrylic copolymers are commercially available under the brand names EASTAREZ 2010, 2020 and 2050 (Eastman Chemical Co.), ACRONAL V210 (BASF), MOWILITH LDM 7255, REVACRYL 491 (Clariant) and FLEXBOND 165 (Air Products). A preferred example of an acrylic copolymer is the acrylates / ethylhexyl acrylate copolymer marketed by DAITO KASEI KOGYO under the name Daitosol 5500GM.
[0080] The first adhesive composition can be chosen from the eyelash adhesive composition of the range called DUO® eyelash adhesive, marketed by American International Industries, and Daitosol 5500 GM from DAITO KASEI KOGYO.
[0081] Commercial examples of suitable polymer rubbers are known under the brands RICON 130 polybutadiene (Atofina Sartomer) and ISOLENE 40 polyisoprene (Elementis).
[0082] Examples of suitable polyurethane-based adhesives are available under the brands SANCURE 2104 (Novéon) and VYLON UR 1400 (Toyobo Vylon).
[0083] Examples of suitable vinyl acetate copolymers are commercially available under the brands PVP / VA 6-630 (International Specialty Products) and FLEXBOND 149 (Air Products).
[0084] Examples of vinyl alcohol / vinyl acetate copolymers are commercially available under the brands CELVOL 107 (Celanese) and ELVANOL 50-42 (DuPont).
[0085] Also citeable are block or random copolymers comprising at least one monomer or a combination of monomers whose resulting polymer has a glass transition temperature below room temperature (25 °C), these monomers or combinations of monomers being selectable from butadiene, ethylene, propylene, isoprene, isobutylene, silicone, and mixtures thereof. Examples of such materials are sequence polymers of the type styrene-butadiene-styrene, styrene-(ethylene-butylene)-styrene, or styrene-isoprene-styrene, such as those sold under the trade names "Kraton" from Kraton or "Vector" from Dexco Polymers.
[0086] The adhesive materials according to the invention may also include tackifying resins, such as rosins or rosin derivatives such as hydrogenated rosins, rosin esters, hydrogenated rosin esters, terpenes, aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon-based resins, phenolic resins, styrene resins, and coumarone-indene resins. Other examples include compounds such as shellac, sandarac gum, dammar resins, elemi gum, copal resins, benzoin, and mastic gum.
[0087] We can also mention silicone resins, which are cross-linked polyorganosiloxane polymers.
[0088] The nomenclature of silicone resins is known as "MDTQ", the resin being described according to the different siloxane monomer units it comprises, each of the letters M, D, T and Q characterizing a type of unit.
[0089] Among these resins, we can notably mention siloxysilicate resins, which can be trimethylsiloxysilicates of formula (CH3)3XSiXO]xX(SiO4 / 2)y (MQ units) in which x and y are integers ranging from 50 to 80, lipodispersible film-forming polymers in the form of non-aqueous dispersions of polymer particles, also called NADs.
[0090] Dispersions of particles of a grafted ethylenic polymer, preferably an acrylic polymer, in a liquid oil phase, for example, in the form of surface-stabilized particles dispersed in the liquid oil phase, can be used as a non-aqueous dispersion of a hydrophobic film-forming polymer. The dispersion of surface-stabilized polymer particles can be manufactured as described in document WO 04 / 055081.
[0091] We can also mention dispersions of particles of Cr C4(meth)acrylate alkyl polymer stabilized by a stabilizing agent selected from isobornyl (meth)acrylate polymers, as described in document WO 2015 / 091513.
[0092] UV-reactive adhesives can also be used.
[0093] Examples include Pros-Aide Cream Blend 331 (acrylic latex) adhesive or Eastman Chemical AQ1350 (soluble sulfopolyester polymer) adhesive. Application of the first adhesive composition
[0094] The adhesive composition can be applied as a continuous film on eyelashes, eyebrows, hair fibers, and / or on the eyelid, scalp, skin, in particular when the density of fibers on the applicator is not too high.
[0095] Alternatively, the first adhesive composition is applied by creating non-adhesive areas between the adhesive areas, which allows control of the density and distribution of the fibers that remain attached to the eyelashes, eyebrows or hair fibers.
[0096] An adhesive applicator can be used to transfer the first adhesive composition. In particular, the assembly according to the invention may include an adhesive applicator for applying the first adhesive composition to the eyelashes. In this case, the adhesive applicator includes, for example, a flocked tip. The adhesive applicator may be shaped to conform to the shape of the eyelash roots. In this particular case, the procedure is simple, as it is enough to bring the adhesive applicator close to the eyelash fringe and then allow the contact to deposit adhesive material onto the eyelash roots. The adhesive applicator may also include, for example, a pen dispensing the first adhesive composition or an applicator cooperating with a container containing the first adhesive composition, for example an applicator fitted with a fine brush or a flocked thermoplastic tip. Second adhesive composition
[0097] The second adhesive composition can be chosen from the group consisting of glues, in particular glues that react without the need to make a mixture such as alkylcyanoacrylate, with alkyl being an ethyl or octyl group (such as n-octyl or 2-octyl) or butyl (such as isobutyl), solvent glues, for example isoprene, or glues with mixing at the time of use, such as two-component glues, such as involving an epoxy resin and a polymerizing agent, such as 1,4,7,10-tetraazadecane, or glues used with thermal activation, in particular wax and in particular cetyl acid and alcohol esters or polymer-based glues with a crosslinking function such as free methacrylate or acrylate.
[0098] Adhesives can be used in packaging that allows for premature settling, in particular reactive adhesives.
[0099] The second adhesive composition is preferably chosen from cyanoacrylate-type glues and derivatives, for example an (alkyl)cyanoacrylate glue, in particular alkylcyanoacrylate with a C2-C8 alkyl chain for example of the ethyl-,(iso)butyl- or octylcyanoacrylate type.
[0100] The second adhesive composition preferably comprises a cyanoacrylate type adhesive, for example tinted black.
[0101] The second adhesive composition is, for example, Loctite Super-glue 3 Power Flex gel, based on ethylcyanoacrylate, marketed by Henkel, or Dermabond, based on octylcyanoacrylate, marketed by Ethicon.
[0102] The second adhesive composition is advantageously deposited on a first part of the length of the fibers, preferably less than half the length of the fibers, on the side where the fibers adhere to keratinous materials, for example to natural eyelashes or to the eyelid. [0117] [Fig. 14] schematically represents, partially and in perspective, another example of an applicator according to the invention. Detailed description
[0118] In the following description, identical elements or elements having equivalent functions bear the same reference numerals. Their description is not repeated for each figure; only the main differences between the embodiments are highlighted.
[0119] Figure 1 illustrates an applicator 1 conforming to an example of an implementation of the invention, for the application of fibers to human keratinous materials, in particular eyelashes, eyebrows, hair fibers and / or eyelids, facial skin, skull or scalp.
[0120] The support member 10 of the applicator 1 comprises at least one channel 30 into which a fiber 2 is inserted. In this example, the support member 10 has several substantially identical and uniformly distributed channels 30, each channel 30 having a fiber 2. The support member 10 is a monolithic piece, made of elastomeric material, with a substantially trapezoidal shape, with the channels 30 arranged in a fan shape. The support member 10 has internal recesses forming the channels 30 and forms end stops 50. The travel at the end of the channels 30, inside the support element 10, limits the insertion of the fiber 2, which is made in the monolithic part. Each channel 30 is defined by at least one portion 40 completely surrounding the fiber 2 in cross-section.
[0121] Each channel 30 has, opposite the stop 50, an open outlet 70 through which the fiber 2 it contains passes. The fibers 2 protrude from the outlets 70 by a length that can vary from one fiber to another, on the order of approximately 1 mm or 2 mm. The inner diameter of each channel 30 is greater than the largest diameter of the fiber 2 it contains.
[0122] In this example, the channels 30 are closed in section along their entire length.
[0123] In this example, fibers 2 are made of silk. Fibers 2 have a plus large diameter between approximately 50 and 200 pm.
[0124] The support member 10 includes a gripping part 60 beyond the stops 50, opposite the outlets 70 of the channels 30.
[0125] The applicator 1 comprises n fibers 2 temporarily supported by the support member 10. These n fibers 2 have a portion 3 extending forward of the support member 10 when supported by the support member 10, as illustrated. These n fibers 2 comprise at least one group 8 of at most m fibers 2 connected together outside the support member 10, with m<n et m> l. In the illustrated example, the number m = exactly 2 and all the fibers are connected in pairs.
[0126] Still in this example, the m fibers 2 are joined together at their ends 5. At least two of the m fibers, in this example, all the m fibers, are joined together by gluing, welding, fusion, and / or at least two of the m fibers are formed by folding a single filament 6, as is the case for the fibers 2 visible in [Fig. 2]. Indeed, group 8 in this figure is formed by a single filament 6, folded in two to form two fibers 2 joined together at their ends 5. They form a V with curved arms.
[0127] In this example again, the fibers 2 exhibit non-zero curvatures, substantially different from each other for at least some part of them.
[0128] Within the support member 10, the unlinked ends 7 of at least two of the m fibers 2 are kept apart from each other by at least d=l mm.
[0129] The support member 10 can be used for the implementation of the method described below.
[0130] A first step in this method of applying fibers 2 to an area of human keratinous material, for example on eyelashes and / or an eyelid, consists of applying a first adhesive composition to said area, for example a PSA adhesive on the eyelid P. A second step, illustrated in Figures 3 and 4, consists of bringing fibers 2 carried by the applicator 1 into contact with the first adhesive composition. Then, in a third step, the applicator 1 is moved away from said zone, so that the groups 8 of fibers 2 adhere, by at least a bound end portion 5 of the fibers, to said zone. The result is obtained visible in the photograph of [Fig. 5].
[0131] In a possible fourth step, a second adhesive composition, for example a cyanoacrylate-based fixing adhesive, is deposited on at least a portion of the fibers 2 adhering to said area.
[0132] The process may also include a step which follows the first step, of drying the first adhesive composition, for a period which may be between 1 min and 5 min.
[0133] After the possible fourth step of depositing the second adhesive composition, it is possible to provide for a step of combing at least part of said fibers 2 adhering to said area, during the setting of the second adhesive composition, if necessary.
[0134] The process may further include additional steps, at the end of the process, consisting of applying a cosmetic product to the eyelashes or eyebrows, in particular mascara and / or applying an eyelash curler and / or performing a heat treatment to curl the eyelashes.
[0135] The fibers 2 of a group 8 can be connected to each other in another way. Figure 6 shows a group of two fibers 2 connected to each other by an external element 15, in particular a jumper. They form a U with substantially parallel and curved arms. The distance between the connected ends 5 of the fibers 2 is substantially equal to the distance between the unconnected ends 7 of the fibers 2. This distance is maintained on the applicator 1 shown in Figure 7, which carries them.
[0136] In this example, the support member 10 retains the groups 8 of fibers 2 by their unbonded ends 7, for example by an adhesive present on the surface 16 of the support member 10. The groups 8 are evenly distributed over several rows on the surface 16 of the support member 10. The gripping portion 60 is a handle. The fibers 2 do not cross each other. All groups 8, as in the previous example, consist of two fibers.
[0137] In the example illustrated in [Fig.8], the groups 8 of fibers 2 are arranged in a staggered pattern on the surface 16.
[0138] In the examples in Figures 7 and 8, the surface 16 of the support member 10 is flat. In the example in [Fig. 9], the surface 16 is curved, concave towards the fibers 2.
[0139] In the example of [Fig. 10], the surface 16 is flat but the fiber groups 8 are arranged along a curved line L on this surface. This allows adaptation to the curvature of the lash fringe.
[0140] Figure 11 shows an example of an assembly according to the invention, comprising, in particular within the same packaging device, for example in a hermetically sealed package, the first adhesive composition A contained in a container 150, the applicator 1 with the support member 10 carrying the fibers 2 to be laid and the second adhesive composition B contained in a container 42.
[0141] The first adhesive composition A is, for example, selected from the eyelash adhesive composition of the range called DUO® eyelash adhesive, marketed by American International Industries, or that called Daitosol 5500GM, an acrylates / ethylhexyl acrylate copolymer marketed by DAITO KASEI KOGYO. Another suitable first adhesive composition may also be used.
[0142] In this non-limiting example, the container 150 comprises a reservoir 32 of the first adhesive composition A, and a cap 33 with a stem 34 carrying an application element 35 at one free end. A wringing element 36 is arranged in the neck 37 above the reservoir 32.
[0143] The second adhesive composition B may be contained in a similar or different container 42.
[0144] The second adhesive composition B may be Loctite Super-glue 3 Power Flex gel, marketed by the Henkel company.
[0145] The applicator 1 in this example comprises a gripping part 60 and a support member 10 with the support surface 16 to which the unlinked ends 7 of the fibers 2 are temporarily connected in groups 8 of at least two fibers.
[0146] The first adhesive composition A, the second adhesive composition B and the applicator 1 may be offered for sale separately.
[0147] The assembly may further include a cosmetic product such as mascara in a reservoir of a container comprising a mascara brush or comb, a mechanical or heated eyelash curler, a comb or brush and other accessories for treating eyelashes or eyebrows or hair fibers.
[0148] The applicator 1 may still be different without departing from the scope of the invention.
[0149] Another example of an applicator 1 comprising a [Fig. 12] is shown in [Fig. 12]. A rod 101 extends along a longitudinal axis X, and at one end of the rod 101, in a concealed manner, is a push button which controls, at the other end 102 of the rod 101, the opening or closing of a spring 45 located on the rod 101, parallel to the axis X. Between the coils of the spring 45, the unbound ends 7 of the fibers 2 of groups 8 are held in the closed position of the spring 45, as illustrated in [Fig. 12]. When the push button is activated, the spring 45 is moved to the open state, which releases the groups 8 of fibers 2.
[0150] In [Fig. 12], the applicator 1 also includes a spring 45, arranged perpendicularly to the axis of the clamps 46 and 47, at one end 48 thereof. The Bringing the clamps 46 and 47 together at one end of the clamps opposite end 46 allows the coils of the spring 45 to be spread apart so as to release the groups 8 of fibers 2. Conversely, in the spread-apart position of the end of the clamps opposite end 46, the fibers 2 are held between the coils of the spring 45, as illustrated.
[0151] Figure 14 illustrates yet another example of an applicator 1 comprising the organ of Support 10, shown without the fiber bundles. In this example, the applicator 1 comprises a plurality of tubes 105 connected by joints 280, forming channels 30, each intended to contain a fiber, similar to applicator 1 in [Fig. 1]. All or some of the channels 30 can be closed, except for the outlet 70. All or some of the channels 30 can be partially open in cross-section, having an open area over part of their cross-section. The joints 280 can be flexible to arrange the tubes 105 in a fan shape.
[0152] The invention is not limited to the examples just described. In particular, the method can be used for applying fibers to the eyebrows or scalp.
