CONTINUOUS GLASS FIBER WEATHER RESISTANCE TESTING DEVICE AND TESTING METHOD TECHNICAL FIELD

[0001] The present disclosure relates to a continuous glass fiber weather resistance testing device and a testing method, which belong to the technical field of the glass fiber testing devices. BACKGROUND

[0002] The glass fiber knitting yarns as a reinforced material are widely applied to the fields such as building materials, aerospace, electronics and machinery and the like. Since the downstream products of the glass fiber yams are exposed to natural conditions and suffer long-term corrosion of insolation, winds, rains, water vapors and other gases, they may age and have a gradually-reduced strength or suffer from physical or chemical changes. In the prior arts, there is no device available to perform weather resistance test and evaluation on the glass fiber yarns, and therefore, those technicians cannot carry out test and evaluation on the weather resistance of the glass fiber yarns, failing to satisfy the requirements of the clients. For this reason, it is necessary to develop a continuous glass fiber weather resistance testing device and a testing method at present. SUMMARY

[0003] In order to solve the shortcomings in the prior arts, the present disclosure provides a continuous glass fiber weather resistance testing device and a testing method, so as to solve the problems in the prior arts.

[0011] There is further provided a testing method for the above continuous glass fiber weather resistance testing device. The method includes the following steps:

[0012] step 1: placing the glass fiber yarn at the leftmost end of an abrasion tester, drawing the yarn along a tangent direction of a bobbin yarn and performing sampling when a given length of glass fiber yarn is drawn;

[0013] step 2: holding by hand one end of the glass fiber yarn, running the glass fiber yam through the friction-free yarn guide rods into the testing box, and fixing the one end of the glass fiber yarn on the yarn fixing device;

[0014] step 3: at the left end, tightening the glass fiber yarn and straightening the glass fiber yarn, and fixing the glass fiber yam by the yam fixing device to maintain the glass fiber yam horizontal without sagging;

[0015] step 4: setting parameters such as temperature, humidity, time, ultraviolet light source, air flow rate, acid concentration and basic concentration to perform aging corrosion test; setting a corresponding running time such that equipment automatically stops at the end of the running time;

[0016] step S: after the aging corrosion test is completed, when a temperature of the testing box drops to room temperature, taking out the yarn and testing a tensile breaking strength Fa while testing a tensile breaking strength Fy of a control sample not going through aging corrosion;

[0017] step 6: calculating a tensile breaking strength loss rate W=(Fa-Fy) / Fax100%, wherein Fa: the tensile breaking strength of the yarn before aging test, with the unit of N / tex; Fy: the tensile breaking strength of the yarn after aging test, with the unit of N / tex; W: the tensile breaking strength loss rate before and after aging test, with the unit of %; calculating the tensile breaking strength loss rate W and further, determining a film-forming state of a yarn surface wetting agent, and using the tensile breaking strength loss rate and the film-forming state of the yarn surface wetting agent to perform comprehensive evaluation on a weather resistance of the glass fiber yam.

[0018] A process of performing comprehensive evaluation on the weather resistance of the glass fiber yarn in the step 6 specifically includes: after the aging test, performing SEM test on the sample, and comparing SEM pictures of the sample before and after the aging test to determine a number and a size of microcracks on the surface of the yarn, wherein the large size and the large number of the microcracks mean the wetting agent on the surface of the yarn is destroyed, weakening the protection and reinforcement for the yam; furthermore, performing tensile breaking strength test on the sample after the aging test, determining change of the tensile strength of the sample before and after the aging test, and calculating the tensile breaking strength loss rate before and after the aging test, wherein the larger tensile breaking strength loss rate means more yarn strength loss and poorer weather resistance.

[0020] In the continuous glass fiber weather resistance testing device and the testing method in the present disclosure, based on the use environment of the downstream products of the glass fiber, multiple aging corrosion parameters can be changed at the same time, bringing broad application scope. The tensile breaking strength loss rate is calculated and the film-forming state of the yarn surface wetting agent is further determined. Thus, by using the tensile breaking strength loss rate and the film-forming state of the yarn surface wetting agent, comprehensive evaluation is performed on the weather resistance of the glass fiber yarn. The method is accurate and time-saving. The testing box in the testing device is made of an insulation and anti-corrosion material, extending its service life. The testing box is 1.3m long, 0.8m wide and 0.8m high, in which three yarn guide rods are disposed for each yarn to prevent the yarn from sagging or intersecting with other yarns. 9 yarns can be tested at the same time, reducing the test error. At the end of the running time, the equipment automatically stops, which prevents timeout resulting from human time counting. The liquid storage device 10 holds pure water or acid or basic liquid with different concentrations and can provide liquid for the sprayer, for example, replenish liquid automatically once the liquid level is lower than a lower limit, preventing the liquid flow from being interrupted. The sprayer is a fan-shaped structure which can ensure each yarn is impregnated. In this way, test and evaluation can be carried out on the weather resistance of the glass fiber yarn, so as to solve the problems in the prior arts. BRIEF DESCRIPTIONS OFTHE DRAWINGS

[0031] A friction-free yarn guide rod 8 is further disposed inside the testing box 1, and multiple friction-free yarn guide rods 8 are disposed to prevent the glass fiber yarns 7 from overturning, displacing, sagging and mutual interference.

[0032] The temperature control device is a heater or a temperature sensor.

[0033] The light source control device is an ultraviolet light source 5.

[0034] The acid-base control device includes a sprayer 6 disposed above inside the testing box 1, and the sprayer 6 is connected with a liquid storage device 10 which holds pure water or acid or basic liquid with different concentrations.

[0035] The air flow rate control device is an air blower 3 provided with a blast adjusting valve.

[0036] A door-upward-opening handle 2 is disposed above outside the testing box 1.

[0037] The working principle of this embodiment is as follows: during operation, a yarn is placed into the texting box 1 and both ends of the yarn are fixed with the yarn fixing device 4 made of silicon carbide. Based on test conditions, temperature (20 to 600°C), humidity (0 to 80%), time (0 to 60 days), ultraviolet light source (200 to 400nm), air flow rate (200 to 1000ml / min), acid concentration (0 to 30mol / L) and basic concentration (0 to 30mol / L) in the testing box 1 are set to perform aging corrosion. After the aging corrosion is completed, the yarn is taken out of the testing box 1. A film-forming state of the yarn surface wetting agent is determined and the tensile breaking strength of the yam is measured so as to compare it with that of a yarn not going through aging corrosion and hence calculate the tensile breaking strength loss rate.

[0038] The test process is as follows:

[0039] (1) The bobbin yarn is placed at the leftmost end of the abrasion tester, and a yam is drawn along a tangent direction of the bobbin yarn and sampled when more than Sm of yam is drawn.

[0040] (2) One end of the yarn is held by hand, and along a route shown in FIG. 1, the yarn is run through the friction-free yarn guide rods 8 into the testing box 1 (forbidding yarn abrasion during yarn running process), and the one end of the yarn is fixed on the yarn fixing device 4 at the right end.

[0041] (3) The yarn is tightened and straightened at the left end and fixed by the yarn fixing device 4 to maintain the yarn horizontal without sagging.

[0042] (4) The parameters of temperature, humidity, time, ultraviolet light source, air flow rate, acid concentration and basic concentration are set to perform aging corrosion. At the end of the running time, the equipment stops automatically.

[0043] (5) After the aging corrosion is completed, when the temperature of the testing box drops to room temperature, the yarn is taken out and the tensile breaking strength Fa is tested while the tensile breaking strength Fy of the control sample not going through aging corrosion is tested.

[0044] The tensile breaking strength loss rate is calculated in the formula W=(Fa-Fb) / Fax100%. By calculating the tensile breaking strength loss rate, the weather resistance of the yarn can be evaluated. The method is simple and time-saving.

[0045] Embodiment 2

[0046] The present disclosure provides a testing method for the continuous glass fiber weather resistance testing device. The method includes the following steps.

[0047] At step 1: the glass fiber yarn is placed at the leftmost end of an abrasion tester, and the yarn is drawn along a tangent direction of a bobbin yarn, and sampling is performed when a given length of glass fiber yarn is drawn.

[0048] At step 2: one end of the yam is held by hand, the glass fiber yarn is run through the friction-free yarn guide rods 8 into the testing box 1, and the one end of the glass fiber yarn is fixed on the yarn fixing device 4.

[0049] At step 3: at the left end, the glass fiber yarn is tightened and straightened and fixed by the yarn fixing device 4 to maintain the glass fiber yam horizontal without sagging.

[0050] At step 4: the parameters of temperature, humidity, time, ultraviolet light source, air flow rate, acid concentration and basic concentration are set to perform aging corrosion test; a corresponding running time is set and at the end of the running time, the equipment stops automatically.

[0051] At step 5: after the aging corrosion test is completed, when a temperature of the testing box 1 drops to room temperature, the yarn is taken out, and a tensile breaking strength F. is tested while a tensile breaking strength Fy of a control sample not going through aging corrosion is tested.

[0052] At step 6: a tensile breaking strength loss rate is calculated in the formula W=(Fa-Fb) / Fax100%.

[0053] The tensile breaking strength loss rate W=(Fa-Fy) / Fax100%, wherein Fa: the tensile breaking strength of the yarn before aging test, with the unit of N / tex; Fy: the tensile breaking strength of the yarn after aging test, with the unit of N / tex; W: the tensile breaking strength loss rate before and after aging test, with the unit of %; the tensile breaking strength loss rate W is calculated and further, a film-forming state of a yarn surface wetting agent is determined and by using the tensile breaking strength loss rate and the film-forming state of the yarn surface wetting agent, comprehensive evaluation is performed on a weather resistance of the glass fiber yarn.

[0054] A process of performing comprehensive evaluation on the weather resistance of the glass fiber yarn in the step 6 specifically includes: after the aging test, performing SEM test on the sample, and comparing SEM pictures of the sample before and after the aging test to determine a number and a size of microcracks on the surface of the yarn, wherein the large size and the large number of the microcracks mean the wetting agent on the surface of the yarn is destroyed, weakening the protection and reinforcement for the yarn; furthermore, performing tensile breaking strength test on the sample after the aging test, determining change of the tensile strength of the sample before and after the aging test, and calculating the tensile breaking strength loss rate before and after the aging test, wherein the larger tensile breaking strength loss rate means more yarn strength loss and poorer weather resistance. Table 1 Sample weather resistance test Sample name Sample 1 | Sample2 | Sample 3 tex T5 33 11.2 Sample 9 4 5 Fiber diameter (D) (um) parameters Wetting agent type R Y Y Test Temperature ('C) 25 30 60 parameters Humidity (%) 60 60 60 Time (day) 3 2 Ultraviolet light source 300 300 300 (nm) Air flow rate 250 250 250 (200-1000ml / min) Acid concentration 10 15 20 (0-30mol / L) Tensile breaking strength 0.62 0.85 0.78 . [0055] The working principle of the present embodiment is as shown in Table 1:

[0056] Sample 1: G75 product: the change of the tensile breaking strength before and after weather resistance test is determined and the tensile breaking strength loss rate is determined as 60%:

[0057] Sample 2: BC1500 product: the change of the tensile breaking strength before and after weather resistance test is determined and the tensile breaking strength loss rate is determined as 43%;

[0058] Sample 3: D450 product: the change of the tensile breaking strength before and after weather resistance test is determined and the tensile breaking strength loss rate is determined as 47%.

[0059] By comparing the SEM diagrams of the three samples before and after weather resistance test, it can be seen that before test, the wetting agent on the surface of the glass fiber is relative smooth, and after test, the wetting agent on the surface of the glass fiber has many microcracks. This result shows that under severe conditions, the wetting agent film for protecting and reinforcing the glass fiber is destroyed, weakening the protection and reinforcement of the wetting agent on the surface of the glass fiber, and hence greatly reducing its tensile breaking strength.

[0060] This test result is consistent with the use result of the clients, which means this method is effective and has guiding effect for the quality improvement of the glass fiber.

[0061] In the continuous glass fiber weather resistance testing device and the testing method in the embodiments of the present disclosure described in combination with drawings, based on the use environment of the downstream products of the glass fiber, multiple aging corrosion parameters can be changed at the same time, bringing broad application scope. In this way, weather resistance test and evaluation on the glass fiber yarn are achieved and the problems in the prior arts are solved. However, the present disclosure is not limited to the embodiments described herein. Those changes, modifications, replacements and variations made to the embodiments without departing from the principle and spirit of the present disclosure shall still fall within the scope of protection of the present disclosure.
