Abstract

A method for managing multi-path communication in a wireless communication system supporting relaying between a user equipment (UE) and a network wherein a first path has been established between the UE and a first base station (BS), the method at the first BS comprising: sending, to the UE, a radio resource control (RRC) configuration message including configuration information for configuring the UE for communication with the network, wherein the RRC configuration message further includes multi-path information for indicating the configuration information is associated with at least one other path to be configured between the UE and the network to provide multiple paths between the UE and the network. A method at a relay node (e.g. a relay UE, UE-to-network (U2N) relay) comprising: receiving configuration information for configuring the relay node for an indirect path between the UE and the network so as to provide with the first path multiple paths between the UE and the network, and sending, to the UE, information indicating a current RRC state of the relay node.
