Abstract
An apparatus for monitoring the cleanliness of a particulate filter (e.g., DPF) 12 comprising a conduit 4 which introduces a fluid (e.g., air) at a known pressure to one side of the filter via the head 2, a measuring conduit 6 which receives fluid (air) returned from the filter surface, a sensor 20 for measuring the pressure of the returned fluid (air) and a comparator 22 for determining the difference between the known and measured pressure values. The location of the head may be varied across the filter surface. There may also be a flow bench (fig. 4) comprising the apparatus.
