Storage overlay network

Abstract

A computer implemented method comprising obtaining commitment transactions (fig.1, 152) belonging to a blockchain block (fig.1, 151) on a blockchain network 106 and using them to generate private keys which are then used to generate an elliptic curve block point which is then made available to a user 304. The method may be used as a public key infrastructure wherein the certificate authority runs a blockchain node, wherein the elliptic curve block point may be employed to generate a public key. A computer implemented method comprising obtaining a data item, storage proof of the data item and an elliptic curve block point generated based on a plurality of private keys, and using the elliptic curve block point, the storage proof and data item to verify that the data item has been accepted by a storage provider 302 that may be part of an overlay network 306.
